When I was working

on the Chinese railway,

everything felt

new and exciting.

But one day,

I felt like something,

or rather somebody,

important was missing.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

[yawns]

I'm tired tonight.

[laughs] Lucky I'm not tired.

Sleepyhead.

I'm off to take

the mail train.

[gasps]

Percy takes the mail train, too.

Percy?

Who's Percy?

Oh, my best friend

back on Sodor.

Taking the mail

is his favorite job.

People call the mail train

the pride of the line.

-[whistle blows]

gotta go.

[chuckles]

Anyway, Percy's a t*nk engine

like me, and...

[snoring]

And I know you can't hear me,

I love being here in China

with my new friends,

but I wish you were

here with me, too.

It's morning.

I've just come back from

delivering the mail train.

I'm gonna show you all

my favorite places in China.

[pandas squeaking]

This is a nature reserve.

And, look, giant pandas!

Aw, they're like

black-and-white teddy bears!

Now we're on

the Great Wall of China.

Wow, this wall's great!

That wheel delivers water

to these rice fields.

Oh, that's kind.

Wow, Thomas,

China is amazing!

It's even more amazing

now I've got

my best friend here, too.

[Hong-Mei]

Thomas?

Percy?

Percy, where'd you go?

[Hong-Mei]

Thomas, wake up!

Percy!

[Hong-Mei] Percy?

Not Percy.

It's me.

[whistle blows]

Wakey, wakey.

But Percy was here and...

and I showed him China

and you both met him and...

Oh, it was

just a dream.

It's okay, Thomas.

-[Thomas] I know.

I just wish Percy

was here, too.

[whistle toots]

I think Thomas must be

missing his friend

Percy a lot.

Well, I think

I know something

that will cheer him up.

[metal clanging]

[Hong-Mei] Oh, Thomas?

[dragon roars]

[screams]

Dragon!

[giggles] This dragon

is just a boat, Thomas,

like the puppet at New Year's.

Remember?

It's not really a dragon.

[laughs]

I... I should have known,

and I wasn't really scared.

Percy would have

been scared, though.

Once on Sodor, he thought

dragons really existed

because he saw a dragon...

Whoa!

How come there are

so many dragon boats?

[Yong Bao]

Because today is the annual

dragon boat race at the river.

All these boats

will race each other.

It's amazing.

[Hong-Mei] If you take the

passenger train to the river,

then you can watch

the race, Thomas.

You'll love it.

Oh, wow, I would

love to do that.

[laughs]

I heard there's a special

new boat this year.

I heard it's painted

red and gold.

That will make it more boats

racing than ever before.

Wow. Oh, I wish Percy

could be here to see it.

I miss him so mu... [gasping]

[woman] Oh, hey,

why have we stopped?

Come on, Thomas.

We don't want to miss

the start of the race.

I... I... I think

Percy's right.

Real dragons do exist,

and there's one in that tunnel!

Don't be silly.

Come on, Thomas, you need

to be brave and carry on.

I thought you weren't

scared of things like that.

Well, I am scared, but Percy

once told me that being brave

is about what you do

even when you are scared.

Then maybe you should listen

to what Percy told you, Thomas.

[laughs]

It's just a dragon boat.

[gasps] That's not just

any dragon boat.

It's the special new one.

It must have fallen off

Yong Bao's train.

How can the race start if

one of the boats is missing?

[people chattering]

[Yong Bao]

I don't know what happened.

One minute,

the new boat was there,

and the next, it was gone.

-The race is ruined

because of...

-[whistle toots]

Coming through!

[laughs]

My missing boat.

Thomas and the coaches

to the rescue!

Thomas, you're a hero.

You saved the race.

And you've saved me

from being in big trouble

for losing my cargo.

I can't thank you enough.

Oh, it was nothing.

Oh, I just wish there was a way

Percy could see the race, too.

Oh, I know. Why don't you

send Percy a postcard?

-A postcard?

-Yes, in the mail.

You can send him a picture of

the dragon boats in the water.

That way,

Percy can see the race.

Great idea, Hong-Mei!

I'll do that!

Hang on, Percy.

There's a card for you

on the mail train today.

[gasps]

Who's it from?

This card's come

all the way from China.

[gasps]

You mean it's from Thomas?

That's right.

It says, "Dear Percy"...

[Thomas]

"China is so amazing.I really wish you were hereto see it, too."

Oh, Thomas, I miss you, too.

[whistle toots]

Have you ever

missed your friends

when you've been

away from them?

Once, Percy missed his friendGator so muchthat he didn't couple upto his cars properlyand he lost themin the old mine.When Hong-Meileft to take the mail train,it made me think of Percy.I started missing him,and soon I couldn'thave any fun withoutwishing he was with me.But then I sent hima postcard,and it cheered me upto let Percy knowhow much I wasthinking about him.

You shouldn't let

missing your friends

stop you from enjoying

new places and people,

and postcards and messages

are a good way

to keep in touch with your

friends when they are far away.
