- Whoo-hoo!

When I was working

on the Brazilian railway,

I met a pair of engines

who had always done

things the same way.

So let's see what happened when

they tried something different.

[whistles]

All aboard for a big adventure!

[Thomas]

Thomas and the Forest Engines.

[horn honking]

- Expresso passando!

- [gasps and screams]

- Wow! It's so busy here today!

-[whistles]

- It really is, Thomas!

I have to take

the fruit to market,

and pick up the iron ore,

and go

to the eucalyptus plantation!

- Whoa, can I help?

How about I go to the

eucalyptus plantation for you?

- And pick up the wood?

Fantástico!Obrigada,

Thomas.

Thank you!

[whistles]

- Hey, Thomas.

You'd better load up with coal

before you go.

The eucalyptus plantation

is pretty far away!

- Ooh.

A tunnel made of trees?

Whoa!

[train engine chugging]

- Wow! So this is the--

[both] Eucalyptus railway!

[whistle blows]

- Hola! My name's Thomas!

[both] Oh! We're Marzia

and Marzio!

- [giggles]

Wait!

Who is who?

- I'm Marzia,

- I'm Marzio,

- and this is Marzio!

- and this is Marzia!

- [laughs]

Do you always talk

at the same time?

[both] No!

Yes!

[laughing]

- We do everything together.

- [laughs]

I've come to collect

the eucalyptus wood

to take it to Rio.

- Well, you've come

to the right place!

This plantation is full

of eucalyptus trees,

which is handy, because--

- It's not coal

that makes us steamy.

-[steam hissing]

- It's wood!

We grow the eucalyptus

trees here!

- Oh, you're

wood-burning engines!

But, you'll run out of wood

if you keep using it up.

- As long as we keep

planting new trees,

then the eucalyptus railway

can keep running!

- You know,

I've never met a pair

of engines quite like you two.

- People come from all over

the world to see us,

but we've never been anywhere!

- We wish we could see

the world like you, Thomas!

We don't even know

what it's like!

We can only imagine

how amazing it must be!

[both gasp]

- Ooh!

- Ah!

[laughing]

[both] Ooh!

Ah!

- Ooh!

- Wow!

[both] Ah!

[laughing]

[steam whooshing]

- We've never even been to Rio.

- Then why don't I do

your jobs today

while you do mine?

- What, take the wood

to Rio de Janeiro?

- Sure!

- Yes! Why not?

Let's do it!

-[whistles]

- All aboard...

[both] For a big adventure!

Whoo-hoo!

-[whistles]

- This is great!

Just like working

on my branch line!

Whoa! Except this

is much shorter.

Much, much shorter!

[whistles]

-[Thomas]

Marzia and Marzioloved seeingthe Brazilian railwayfor real. They felt it was even betterthan they had imagined! But then there was trouble.

-[steam hissing]

-[engines clunking]

[both] I've run out of wood!

Me too.

- What shall we do?

- We need some more eucalyptus!

- Where are we going

to get that?

Wow! This is cool!

- But we still got

a long way to go.

[both] Oh, no!

Not again!

[uneasy music]

[whistles]

[wheels squeak]

[steam hissing]

-[Thomas]

It was getting late, and Marzio and Marziashould've returnedfrom the docks.

-[whistles]

-I was starting to get worried,so I decided to goand look for them.

-Marzia!

-[whistles]

Marzio!

Cassia, have you seen two

wood-burning engines?

- No, but where are

the flatbeds

of eucalyptus, Thomas?

The ship is waiting!

- Oh, yes!

I'm sorry, Cassia.

[stammering] I'll... I'll get

them straight away!

[steam hisses]

Emerson!

Will you help me look

for two wood-burning engines?

- Of course!

[airplane engine roaring]

I can see them, Thomas!

Two little wood-burning engines

down there!

- Thank you, Emerson!

Whoa!

[both] Thomas!

[wheels squealing]

- Marzia! Marzio!

What are you doing here?

And what happened

to all the eucalyptus?

Did you lose it?

[both] No.

We used it all up.

- We ran out of

eucalyptus wood.

We had to.

- Oh.

I'm sorry.

I guess

you wood-burning engines

aren't meant to go so far.

Don't worry.

I'll go back

to the eucalyptus plantation

and fetch you some more fuel.

[whistles]

[train engine chugging]

Sorry, you two!

I should never have

suggested the swap.

- Oh, no!

We're glad you suggested it!

We loved our big adventure!

- And if we hadn't tried

something new,

then we would never have known

for sure that--

[both] We belong

on the eucalyptus railway!

- Of course!

So, will you go home now?

- Yes, but can we just

take the wood to the docks?

So we can finish off the job

and be--

[all] Really useful!

- [giggles]

Of course!

-[horn honking]

-[both]

Hola!

[whistles]

- Wow, what an adventure!

Thanks, Thomas.

It's been amazing!

- I'm so glad!

- And now it's time to go home.

Back to our eucalyptus railway.

Back to normal.

-[both] Just how we like it!

-[laughing]

[whistles]

- Have you ever tried

something new

to see whether you like it?

[steam whooshing]

-[Thomas]

I once mettwo experimental engineswho had only ever stayedin their yard. One day, they decidedto travel to a new place! They soon discoveredthey were much happier there, because they couldbe really useful.Marzia and Marziohave only ever workedon the eucalyptus railway, but when they trieddoing a new jobon a different railway, they ran into difficulty, and realized they weren'tsuited to the jobs there. They were much happierbeing useful at home.

[steam whooshing]

So remember,

the next time you get

the chance

to try something new,

why not go ahead

and take a chance,

and see if it's for you?

[whistle blowing]

- Come on, Thomas!

- It's time to go!

- See ya next time!
