We have lots of different

types of vehicles on Sodor--

buses, cars, helicopters,

and lots of steam engines.

But one day,

we had a very different

type of vehicle appear

on the island.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

Cleo the Road Engine.I was workingon my branch line,pulling cars from the quarry,when I passed Ruth's workshop.

[whistle toots]

Morning, Ruth!

- [Ruth] Oh, Thomas,

I'm glad you're here.

I have someone I'd like

to introduce you to.

Thomas, meet Cleo.

- Hello, Thomas.

I'm Cleo.

- Wow!

You're Ruth's new car!

[stammers]

At least, I think you're a car.

You look a bit like

a steam engine!

- Cleo's a road engine.

So she's kind of a bit of both.

- But Ruth, I thought you

already had a flying car.

- [laughs]

I did, Thomas,

but I don't think the world is

ready for flying cars yet.

Anyway,

we're just off to Knapford.

I need to pick up

some bits and pieces.

- I'm on my way to Knapford

too!

Maybe we could travel together.

- Great idea, Thomas!

Although we'll have to stick

to the roads.

- You got it!

[flames whoosh, steam hisses]

[whistle toots, horn honks]

[bright music continues]

[train engine chugging]

- Thomas, why have you got

a number on your side?

- Oh, it's because I come first

at everything.

[chuckles]

- So does that mean

you're going to get

to Knapford first?

- Maybe.

- Hmm.

[giggles]

We'll see about that.

Last one there's

got a leaky gasket!

- You're on!

- [Ruth] Now, you two, we

don't-- - Go, go, go!

- Whoa!

[whistle toots]

[upbeat music]

Cleo! Maybe you should

slow down a bit!

It's really hard to steer

when you're going this fast!

- But why?

This is so much fun!

[laughs]

Come on, slowpoke!

- [Thomas laughs]

I'll show you who's slow.

- Stop!

[clanks]

[tires screech]

- Oh!

What did you do that for?

- Because I need to post

some letters.

[whistle toots]

- Oh, no,

Thomas is winning now.

- Now onto...whoa!

- [Ruth] Cleo, slow down!

- [laughing]

- [Bertie] Free the--

- Whee!

- Oh! What's a steam engine

doing on the road?

[engine chugging]

[bell dinging]

- [gasps]

[metal scraping]

[groaning]

[panting]

- [Cleo laughs]

[giggles]

[whistle toots]

- [pants]

[groans]

[cheerful music]

[clanks]

[tires screech]

- [grunts]

- [laughing]

My, you're in a rush.

- Well, one of us is.

- Well, it's a good job

I've got your eggs ready, then,

- Thanks, Farmer McC--oh!

[engine revving]

- Uh, bye.

[upbeat music]

- [Cleo laughs]

[tires screech]

Ohh!

- [Thomas]

Oh, you finally made it.

- But--I--I--you were...

- Won't be long.

- I would have won

if I didn't have

to go the long way 'round

and keep stopping.

- Oh, really?

Race you to Wellsworth.

- You're on!

And this time,

I'll show you who's fastest!

- Ready, set...

[both] Go!

- [Ruth]

What are you two doing?!

- Huh?

[bell dinging]

[screams]

- [Ruth] Enough games, Cleo.

We've got to go home.

- Cleo, what are you doing?

The workshop's that way!

- Thomas b*at me last time

because he was on the rails.

So this time,

I'm going on the rails too!

[laughs]

[horn honks]

- Huh?

Hey, that's cheating!

[laughing]

I think we need to stop now.

- Because Gordon is

heading straight for us.

- Gordon?

What's a Gordon?

- That's a Gordon!

- Express coming through!

[whistle blows]

[squealing]

[tires screech]

[clanks]

- Cleo, reverse,

reverse, reverse!

- I'm reversing.

- Out of my way!

[whistle blowing]

- [dramatic music]

- Wrong way, Cleo.

Wellsworth is--

- [Gordon] Get off my track!

- Oh, no.

- [Cleo] Whoa!

- Move!

- I can't get off the tracks!

- Hang on, Cleo!

[clicks]

- [Cleo yelps]

Whoa!

[clicks]

Whoa!

Ooh.

[exciting music]

[engine revs]

- Ooh.

- [gasps]

[grunting]

Ooh!

[panting]

- Rail hog!

[train engine chugging]

- Phew!

[bell dings]

- Free the--whoa!

[groans]

Oh, it's you again.

- Sorry.

[soft flute music]♪ ♪

[whistle toots]

- Oh, I'm so glad

you're both safe.

- Yeah, well, you won, Thomas.

You were the fastest.

- [laughs]

I'm not so sure about that.

You can go really fast

on the rails.

- That was really fun,

wasn't it?

Running on rails!

- And a little dangerous,

Cleo.

I think we need

to make you safe on the roads

before you start thinking

about the rails.

- Oh, that would be great,

though, wouldn't it, Cleo?

Then I could show you all

the exciting places on Sodor.

- [laughs]

One step at a time now, Thomas.

We don't want

you two racing again.

That's how accidents happen.

[whimsical musical flourish]

Ew!

Yuck.

Scrambled eggs, anyone?

[laughs]

- [Cleo] Bleahh.

- [Thomas] Ho-ho-ho!

[laughter]

In Australia,Shane was having so much funon the way to the Red Centerthat he didn't want to listento Aubrey and Aiden'ssuggestion to fill up on coal.But then he ran out of coalin the middle of the desertand got stranded.Cleo wanted to win the raceso much,she ignored Ruth's adviceand wentonto the railway tracks.But she soon discoveredthat was a dangerous thingto do.She was much saferon the road.

Trying something new can be

really exciting,

but you should always think

about the dangers first.
