NARRATOR: On the road to Veilstone City,

our Heroes discover the quaint Emeragrove Town

NARRATOR: and where they also find Eterna Gym leader and

friend Gardenia, surrounded by a group of young fans!

GARDENIA: Hey! It's been a while hasn't it?

BROCK: Seeing you, it's like a summer's day on the village

green! Or perhaps the scent, the sweet scent of the forest!

BROCK: There's only one explanation

for meeting you again in such an out of the way hamlet like this.

BROCK: Destiny!

BROCK: The good and the bad.

CROAGUNK: [MUTTERING][DRAGGING]

ASH: So, Gardenia, how come you're here in Emeragrove Town?

GARDENIA: Simple! I'm promoting Pokémon Battling

by having battles all over the area!

ASH: Wow! That's a great idea!

JESSIE: Looks like a group of future Twerps!

JAMES: With the usual suspects and that Grass-type Gym leader.

MEOWTH: Cool! Those dopey dummies are so busy quacking

they won't even notice us picking up Pikachu!

JESSIE: Perfect! I suggest we start off the season

in style with the old get up and go strategy!

MEOWTH: Smooth move!

JAMES: Now that's original!

JESSIE : Hi! ASH: Team Rocket?

DAWN: All right, what is it this time?

JESSIE: Listen! Is that the sound of a Twerp with no brain?

JAMES: That answer couldn't be more plain!

JESSIE: On the wind!

JAMES: Past the stars!

MEOWTH: What a pain!

JESSIE: Bringing chaos at a break-neck pace!

JAMES: Dashing hope putting fear in its place!

JESSIE: A rose by any other name's just as sweet!

JAMES: When everything's worse our work is complete!

JESSIE: Jessie! JAMES: And James!

MEOWTH: Meowth's the name!

JESSIE: Putting the do-gooders in their place!

JAMES: Team Rocket!

JESSIE, JAMES, MEOWTH: In your face!

WOBBUFFET: [AGREEING]

ASH: You guys never give up!

JESSIE: Excuse me, but back where I come from

ASH: You guys are through! PIKACHU: [DETERMINED]

ASH: Pikachu, Thunderbolt! ASH, DAWN, PIKACHU: [SURPRISED]

GARDENIA: Cacnea I've counted the minutes

until I'd see you again!

JAMES: Get a life!

GARDENIA: So green! So cute! And so cuddly!

ASH: It's cuddly?

DAWN: She's never met a Grass-type

she didn't fall in love with.

JAMES: That's my Grass type! Go grow your own!

GARDENIA: Wait! Couldn't I just borrow Cacnea?

JAMES: Lending to the likes of you

is a permanent proposal and you know it!

JESSIE: Hey! This is supposed to be a

Pikachu capture in progress!

MEOWTH: It was.

CHILD A: Hold on Gardenia! Our battle!

CHILD B: That's right! Did you forget?

GARDENIA: Oops! Sorry! I got sidetracked.

I know, let's have a Tag Battle! What do you say?

ASH: A Tag Battle? GARDENIA: You bet!

So, let's make it my Turtwig

and this blue-haired guy and his Cacnea against Ash

and his friends, what do you say?

JAMES: No thank you! These blue hairs pass!

CHILD B: Ah! Scared, old man?

CHILD A: Sounds scared to me.

JAMES: I'm not scared! And I'm not old!

CHILD A: Okay then prove it, old man!

JAMES: You impudent little twits!

I could b*at the short pants off of all of you!

CHILD B: Then put your Pokémon where your mouth is!

ASH: Great! Then I'm in too!

DAWN: All right! I'm in too!

And Brock, we'll need a judge as well

BROCK: Sure! JESSIE: Oh joy.

MEOWTH: Outsmarted by a ton of tiny Twerps!

GARDENIA: Turtwig! Come on out!

TURTWIG: [APPEARING]

CHILDREN: It's Turtwig! And Pachirisu! And Aipom!

PACHIRISU: [CHALLENGING] AIPOM: [TAUNTING]

TURTWIG: [CONFIDENT] CACNEA: [FLEXING]

JESSIE: I'd rather go and watch paint dry!

MEOWTH: We've got important things to steal!

BROCK: All right, let the Tag Battle begin!

ASH: Now, Aipom, use Swift!

AIPOM: [SWIFT MOVE]

TURTWIG: [JUMPING] CACNEA: [YELLING]

MEOWTH: Man! That was a quick hit!

JESSIE: And a quick trip into loserland!

JAMES: Cacnea Pin m*ssile, go!

GARDENIA: Turtwig, use Leaf Storm!

CACNEA: [PIN m*ssile MOVE]

TURTWIG: [LEAF STORM MOVE]

ASH: Dodge it, Aipom!

DAWN: Dodge, Pachirisu!

CHILD A: Awesome! CHILD B: Nice dodges!

GARDENIA: My heart! I've never seen such a gorgeous

DAWN: Pachirisu, use Spark!

PACHIRISU: [SPARK MOVE]

TURTWIG: [DODGING]

GARDENIA: Turtwig, Bite, go!

JAMES: Cacnea, no!

GARDENIA: Cacnea's great as ever!

ASH: Now Aipom! Use Focus Punch on Cacnea!

AIPOM: [FOCUS PUNCH]

JAMES: Up and at them, Cacnea with Needle Arm!

CACNEA: [NEEDLE ARM]

CACNEA, AIPOM: [CONNECTING]

ASH: Aipom! JAMES: Bang zoom!

MEOWTH: You know, that Needle Arm wasn't all that half-bad!

GARDENIA: You could make it two Needle Arms in a row.

JAMES: Uh. Sure, why not?

DAWN: Pachirisu, Spark!

PACHIRISU: [SPARK MOVE]

JAMES: Cacnea! Needle Arm!

CACNEA: [NEEDLE ARM MOVE]

CHILD B: He's using Needle Arm again!

CHILD A: Pachirisu's in trouble!

CACNEA, PACHIRISU: [MISSING]

CACNEA: [TURNING] CACNEA: [LANDING]

JAMES: Dear Cacnea! CACNEA: [STRUGGLING]

JESSIE: Oops! The Twerp clipped Cacnea.

ASH: Aipom! Use Focus Punch. Let's go!

AIPOM: [LAUNCHING]

GARDENIA: Go and tell Cacnea to use Drain Punch!

JAMES: But we've never used that move before!

GARDENIA: Drain Punch is a stronger move than Needle Arm!

All you do is have Cacnea twist its arm inward while it hits!

JAMES: Of course! Easy for you to say.

AIPOM: [FOCUS PUNCH MOVE]

JAMES: Now Cacnea, Drain Punch!

Twist your arm inward while you hit!

CACNEA: [DRAIN PUNCH MOVE]

JAMES: Whoa!

CACNEA: [YELLING]

AIPOM: [LANDING]

ASH: Aipom! JAMES: Wow! Drain Punch worked!

CHILD A: What a Drain Punch! MEOWTH: Surprise!

JESSIE: Who knew Cacnea had that much kick?

CACNEA: [AMAZED]

GARDENIA: Just like I thought.

CHILD B: Turtwig!

GARDENIA: Look out!

TURTWIG: [SHOUTING] TURTWIG: [LANDING]

GARDENIA: Turtwig, no!

ASH: Now! Let's finish this up! Okay, Aipom Swift, let's go!

AIPOM: [PREPARING]

JAMES: Cacnea, let's put Drain Punch in repeats!

CACNEA: [PUMPED]

AIPOM: [SWIFT MOVE]

CACNEA: [DRAIN PUNCH]

CACNEA: [CONFUSION] [YELLING]

JAMES: What? Your Drain Punch has been drained!

CACNEA: [LANDING]

ASH: Aipom! Focus Punch!

AIPOM: [FOCUS PUNCH MOVE]

JAMES: Cacnea! Drain Punch now!

CACNEA: [ATTEMPTING]

AIPOM: [HITTING]

CACNEA: [FLYING]

JAMES: What have I done?

CACNEA: [CRASHING]

BROCK: That's it! Turtwig and Cacnea are unable to battle!

So the winners are Pachirisu and Aipom!

ASH: We did it! You were great, Aipom!

DAWN: You too Pachirisu!

AIPOM, PACHIRISU: [CHEERING]

JESSIE: All's stinky that ends stinky

CHILD B: I can't believe Gardenia lost.

CHILD A: It was the old man's fault!

CHILD B: Yeah it's your fault! Old man!

JAMES: I'm not too old to put all of you across my knee!

TURTWIG: [WINCING]

GARDENIA: Thanks, Turtwig! You were great! Return!

CACNEA: [GROANING]

JAMES: Cacnea, you okay?

CACNEA: [SIGHING]

JAMES: You did your very best!

GARDENIA: I knew it! I was right about your Cacnea!

JAMES: What do you mean?

GARDENIA: When I saw that Needle Arm,

I knew Cacnea was super strong!

GARDENIA: And that's when it hit me!

Your Cacnea could probably learn Drain Punch!

BROCK: Which is why you suggested it

to James in the first place!

DAWN: But then why didn't Drain Punch work the nd time?

CACNEA: [EXPLAINING]

MEOWTH: Cacnea says it was just an accident it worked at all.

GARDENIA: No way! That Cacnea is something

special! That's why it worked.

GARDENIA: But Cacnea still needs a lot of training,

and Trainer and Pokémon need to be in perfect sync.

JAMES: So, it was my fault?

GARDENIA: What I'd like to do is take on your Cacnea

and train it myself!

GARDENIA: I've got high hopes for Cacnea.

CHILD A: Gardenia, please? Show us some other Pokémon!

CHILDREN: Please, Gardenia, please?

GARDENIA: All right!

What do you say we all go to the Pokémon Center?

JESSIE: What nerve! Little Miss Green Ego.

PIKACHU: [CONFUSED]

JESSIE: Those two sad sacks. They are pathetic!

JESSIE: Snap out of it!

Don't let that grassy know-it-all bum you out!

JAMES: Jess, she's not bumming me a bit!

JESSIE: Tell the truth! You're actually thinking of giving

Cacnea to that goofy Gym Leader, aren't you?

JAMES: Come on, that's just crazy talk! I think.

JESSIE: You think? There is one thing Team Rocket is definitely

not and that's a charity!

MEOWTH: Always thinking about the bottom line.

CACNEA: [DEMANDING]

MEOWTH: Cacnea says it wants to learn to use Drain Punch!

-CACNEA: [AGREEING] -JAMES: Oh Cacnea.

CACNEA: [FLEXING]

MEOWTH: Hey you're right! If you knew Drain Punch

we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place!

JAMES: Of course! All right then! Let's train!

CACNEA: [EXCITED]

JESSIE, JAMES, MEOWTH, CACNEA: [SURPRISED]

JESSIE: I'd know those Twerpish outlines anywhere!

ASH: Team Rocket?

DAWN: They won't leave!

JESSIE: You know, I just had an idea!

MEOWTH: Spit it out!

JESSIE: If we could partner with the Twerps to train,

we could get Cacnea to learn Drain Punch

and a slew of other stuff!

MEOWTH: Sure enough!

JAMES: Right! Are we ready to learn?

CACNEA: [EXCITED]

JAMES: Cacnea! Use Drain Punch!

CACNEA: [ATTEMPTING] [SURPRISED]

JAMES: Cacnea! One more time! Use Drain Punch!

CACNEA: [TRYING]

ASH: Uh, so I guess that means they're doing

some special Drain Punch training.

DAWN: Even Team Rocket does things the right way

once in a while.

JESSIE: Excuse me. We've done the right thing lots of times!

BROCK: Well, whatever the truth is, this is one of them!

JAMES: Practice makes perfect! One more time!

JAMES: Dear me.

CACNEA: [SAD]

JESSIE: Sad. It's just so hard to find

a good training partner these days.

MEOWTH: Now what's a poor Pokémon to do?

ASH: Hey Pikachu! Why don't you and I help them train, huh?

DAWN, BROCK, PIKACHU: [SURPRISED]

JESSIE, MEOWTH: Yes!

JESSIE: Say, aren't you kind!

MEOWTH: Mighty big of you Twerps! I mean, folks!

DAWN: Hold on Ash! If we help them out

with their special training and Cacnea learns Drain Punch,

then we're just putting ourselves in danger right?

ASH: Hey come on Dawn!

It's our job to help anybody who's serious about training

their Pokémon in the right way! Right, Pikachu?

PIKACHU: [AGREEING]

JAMES: Your kindness knows no bounds!

ASH: All right!

ASH: Are you ready to go, Cacnea?

CACNEA: [READY]

ASH: Okay, now just remember that Gardenia said

you're really strong, got it?

ASH: So if you add some more movement to your Needle Arm,

I'll bet you'll be able to pull off Drain Punch!

JAMES: We've got it!

ASH: Pikachu! Use Quick att*ck!

PIKACHU: [QUICK att*ck MOVE]

JAMES: Needle Arm! CACNEA: [NEEDLE ARM MOVE]

PIKACHU: [ATTACKING]

CACNEA, PIKACHU: [FLYING]

ASH: Come on Pikachu! Thunderbolt!

PIKACHU: [THUNDERBOLT MOVE]

JAMES: Quick, Cacnea dodge it!

CACNEA: [DODGING]

JAMES: Nice dodge! Needle Arm again!

CACNEA: [DETERMINED]

ASH: Iron Tail! PIKACHU: [AGREEING]

CACNEA: [NEEDLE ARM MOVE] PIKACHU: [ATTACKING]

PIKACHU: [LANDING]

ASH: Pikachu!

BROCK: Wow, it's working!

That Needle Arm's getting stronger, one hit at a time!

JAMES: All right Cacnea! With the same gusto use Drain Punch!

CACNEA: [ATTEMPTING]

CACNEA: [TRIPPING] CACNEA: [GROANING]

PIKACHU: [CONCERNED]

JAMES: Oh dear. Down we go!

DAWN: Boy I really thought Drain Punch would work this time!

BROCK: Not quite. Their timing is still bad.

And the Trainer's commands are not much better!

BROCK: Uh, it's nothing personal I swear!

CARNIVINE: [READY]

CACNEA: [SHADOW BOXING]

JAMES: Looking good, Cacnea! Right, Left!

PIKACHU: [ENCOURAGING]

ASH: You know, if they keep workin' Cacnea's arm power

and speed, I'm sure it'll be using Drain Punch in no time!

DAWN: Maybe and then we'll be regretting it in no time!

ASH: Keep it up Cacnea, awesome!

CACNEA: [SHADOW BOXING]

CHIMCHAR: [HIT] [GROANING]

JAMES: Cacnea, now! Twist your arm and punch!

CACNEA: [POWERING UP]

CACNEA: [DISAPPOINTED]

CARNIVINE, CHIMCHAR: [CONCERNED]

JAMES: And still no cigar.

JESSIE: What a shame. He's even more pathetic than yesterday!

MEOWTH: Though, with James that's not exactly newsworthy.

DAWN: He's taking it hard!

JESSIE: This all started when I asked him

if he was serious about giving Cacnea over

to that potted Gym Leader.

JESSIE: And then, wham.

JAMES: It's always the same.

JAMES: Nothing ever changes.

GARDENIA: What I'd like to do is take on your Cacnea

and train it myself!

JAMES: How am I supposed to measure up

to that kind of Grass-type expertise?

JAMES: I'm in Team Rocket.

One of the bad guys! She's a Gym Leader.

JAMES: And it's not just learning Drain Punch.

If she took you under her wing,

you'd become a stronger Pokémon than I could ever make you.

JAMES: If you stay with me, perhaps you'll never be happy,

or fulfilled.

Maybe she can give you a better life than I can give you!

CACNEA: [CONCERNED]

JAMES: Oh, it is a magnificent sunset.

CACNEA: [AWE]

JAMES: How about some more special training?

CACNEA: [EXCITED]

JAMES: Hey! I could use a hand over here!

ASH: Sure! But this time Aipom's up against Cacnea!

BROCK: Gardenia!

JAMES: Oh! It's you!

GARDENIA: I thought I'd find you out here

doing a little extra training. So, how's it going?

JAMES: Oh, It's going great! Perfect!

GARDENIA: Do you mind if I stay and watch?

AIPOM: [APPEARING]

JAMES: This time for sure! Cacnea! Needle Arm let's go!

CACNEA: [CHARGING]

ASH: Aipom! Focus Punch!

AIPOM: [FOCUS PUNCH MOVE]

AIPOM: [MISSING]

CACNEA: [HIT] AIPOM: [FLYING]

MEOWTH: That Needle Arm's gone from wimpo to boffo in no time!

JESSIE, GARDENIA: So, here comes Drain Punch!

JAMES: Now Cacnea, use Needle Arm one more time

and then transform it into Drain Punch!

CACNEA: [NEEDLE ARM MOVE]

ASH: Quick, Aipom, Focus Punch!

CACNEA, AIPOM: [MISSING]

JESSIE: Ever hear of a thing called timing?

JAMES: Oh, funny!

ASH: Focus Punch, one more time!

CACNEA: [STRUGGLING] JAMES: Cacnea, dodge it!

CACNEA: [DODGING]

JAMES: Now, Needle Arm!

CACNEA: [HIT] AIPOM: [FLYING]

JAMES: All right! Now let's use Drain Punch!

CACNEA: [ATTEMPTING]

JESSIE: Here we go! MEOWTH: Could this be it?

JAMES: Cacnea. That's enough!

CACNEA: [CONFUSED]

JAMES: It's over. You did your very best.

CACNEA: [CONFUSED]

ASH: Aipom, thanks. Take a long rest.

AIPOM: [AGREEING]

CACNEA: [QUESTIONING]

JAMES: Cacnea, stay away!

CACNEA: [SHOCKED]

JESSIE: What do you think you're doing?

ASH: What the- What's wrong with him?

JAMES: Remember what you said about Cacnea having high hopes?

GARDENIA: Sure! And I still do!

CACNEA: [QUESTIONING]

JAMES: Cacnea, here's where we part.

-Please go with the Gym Leader! CACNEA: [SHOCKED]

JESSIE: But James! MEOWTH: What are you doing?

JAMES: Cacnea needs a great Trainer

to learn to use Drain Punch. But that's not me.

JAMES: You've got to go Cacnea! To be your best!

CACNEA: [CRYING]

JAMES: No! Go away!

CACNEA: [SIGHING]

CACNEA: [RESOLUTE]

JAMES: That's my Cacnea.

JAMES: I'll always treasure our times together.

JAMES: The hard times.

JAMES: And the joyous times too.

CACNEA: [HAPPY]

JESSIE: Oh Cacnea.

GARDENIA: I swear, Cacnea will be raised well!

GARDENIA: Stay well everybody!
