This is a big day here
at the Big Blue House today..

Tell me, were you just
doing an art project?

Because you smell very arty!

[sniff] Ah!

[French accent] Or maybe
you just smell zis good

all zee time! [chuckles]

[sigh]

What was I saying? Oh right!

Today is a big day
here at the Big Blue House.

Tutter is going to mouse
school for the very first time!

Yeah, it's a school right
here in Woodland Valley,

just for mice!

We're in the kitchen
having breakfast with him

before he goes.

Come on!

-Whoa, Tutter... that's amazing.
-Cool.

-I know! Haha!
-Hey, everybody!

Hey, Bear!

So, who do you think you'll sit
next to at mouse school, Tutter?

Well, Ojo...

According to
everything I've heard,

I shall be sitting next
to a uh mouse of some sort.

Oh true, true.

Makes sense. But let us
ask you something, Tutter...

Do you think you will
have one recess or two?

Hmm?

I'm not sure on that one.
I'll have to get back to you.

We'll look forward to that,
Tutter.

[laughs]

[a bit sadly]
Um Tutter come back, okay?

Treelo miss you.

Yeah, I'll miss you too.

I'll miss you a bunch too,
Tutter.

Oh, it's okay you guys.

I'll be home this afternoon.
Right, Bear?

Oh, that's right, Tutter.

Oh, that's good. Thank goodness.

And I just want you to know, you
guys don't have to worry, okay?

I'll still be just
plain old Tutter.

I wasn't really worried
about that, were you?

What do you mean, Tutter?

-Well, now I'm worried.
-Um, Tutter,

why don't you go get
your school supplies ready.

Okay, Bear! [gasp]

Ooookaayyy, Bear!

I guess I'll just go
and get my new book bag!

Book bag!

Whoa! Cool! I gotta see this!

Come on Tutter, show us!

Tutter getting ready
for school for the first time.

Wow.

Yeah, I remember
the first time I went to school

when I was a little cub...

I was so excited,
I almost missed the bus!

Yeah "firsts" can
be so exciting...

Oh, well.

A first is, something you
do that you haven't done before.

Like the first time you walked.

Or the first time you talked.

'Mama.'

Or the first time you eat cooked
and buttered string beans.

[smacks lips]

See? The world can be
such an exciting place.

Doc Hogg, that's me.

I didn't see you come in.

I remember
when Tutter was so small

you could barely see him!
Barely see him!

-Yeah, I know what you--
-Time goes by so fast...

I know... I know.

Kinda gets you--

-Here you go, Doc.
-Thank you, Bear!

So, what's this pocket for,
Tutter?

Oh, that? That's nothing.

Just kind of a secret pocket,
for you know, secret stuff.

Hi, doctor Hogg.

-Hey, Bear!
-Oh, hey there, Tutter!

Hello, Tutter.

What's with you guys?

Oh, uh...

What do you mean Tutter?

What on earth do you mean?

Well, you guys look kinda funny.

Oh, well, we were just
talking about you and...

...what a big
day this is for you

[laughs] You can say that again!

First day of Mouse school,
oh yeah! Oh yeah!

Who's the mouse!

-Who's the mouse!
-So Tutter,

are you all ready for school?

Oh! I am, Bear, I am!

Good!

So Doc, once Tutter is
settled in, I'll be right back.

Gotcha, Bear!

Huh?

-Bye, Tutter...

Oh, what is it, Tutter?

Well, I was just wondering...

I was wondering, Bear, um...

what did you mean you'd be back
as soon as I got settled in?

What did you mean?

'Well, I meant, Tutter--
-'Cause you know, Bear,

school lasts all day,
all day, Bear!

Yes, Tutter and trust me,
I won't leave until...

Leave? But who will take
care of me, Bear, if you leave?

Um, Tutter, l thought
you understood that,

Miss Maxwell is going
to take care of you at school.

She's your teacher.

Yeah, well...

I mean, Miss Maxwell's
nice and all Bear,

But... but...
she's not you, Bear!

Not you at all!

-Well, I know Tutter, but--
-Who will make me my lunch?

-Well, I'm sure-- -And who'll
tuck me in for my nap?

-I bet that she'll--
-And Bear,

what if the other kids
at school don't like me?

What if I don't fit in, Bear?

Who's gonna help me through
my first day of school, Bear?

Because if you're not there...

I don't know who's gonna do it

and I don't think
I can make it through

the entire day without you.
- Tutter. Breath in.

Breath out.

Now, I know
you're a little nervous.

Well, yeah!

But don't worry.

I'll stay outside until you feel
okay about me leaving.

How does that sound?

Pretty good, Bear,
pretty good, I guess

but I'm not sure when I'll feel
okay, not sure at all!

Well, why don't we just see
how it goes Tutter.

Hello Rita, how are you?

-Fine.
-Just help yourselves

to a seat anywhere.

-Hello, Tutter.
-Oh! Hello, Bear!

Hey, Miss Maxwell

So, how are you today Tutter?

F-f-fine I guess, Miss Maxwell.

H-h-how are you?

Well I must say,

I'm very excited
about getting to know you

and the rest of
the new students!

Listen,
why don't you pick a seat?

Okay, but you're going to
stay for a while, right, Bear?

Yes Tutter,
I'll be right outside.

Oh, okay. Okay, Bear.

Anywhere will do, Tutter.

Uh Miss Maxwell,
I was wondering...

[chuckle]

Go around the side
of the school, Bear.

I think you'll find a lot
of other mouse parents there.

-Okay, uh, thank you.
-You're welcome.

"Mouse School
first day parent waiting area."

Hm… Who knew?

Um, gee, where is everybody?

Ahhh!

Aaaaahhh!

Aaaaaaaaaahhh!

Oh, it's just Bear, everybody!

How are you, Bear?

Well fine I think.

Oh, I know,
this can be a big day, Bear.

Take it from me.

For the children
and the adults alike.

-Yes sir.
-Huh?

You've been through this before?

Oh, sure.

This is ray sixteenth to go
through mouse school, Bear.

Why don't you just sit down.

Oh, uh thank you.

Okay, now if everyone will just
take a seat, we'll get started.

Oh, um...

Hi.

Oh, um... hi.

Um...

I was just wondering uh...

maybe you know what they
do about lunch around here?

I'm pretty used to eating
around the middle of the day,

and if I don't,
I get kind of cranky.

Oh um, me too.

Tutter, do you have a question?

Me?

Uh-huh.

Well...

I was just wondering... uh...

Ask her.

Um...

I was wondering about lunch?

Good question, Tutter!

Really?

We have lunch every day at noon,

and in fact we have a very
nice selection of cheeses!

Cheeses?

I love cheese!

Yeah, I love cheese too!

Well, I do happen to have
a few pictures of Tutter.

Ohhhh.

Here he is in his crib.

Oh and here he is
taking his first steps,

he was quite the early walker...

-Look at that!
-What a darling?

TUTTER: Bear! Bear!

Yes, Tutter?

Is everything okay?

Um yeah, so far, Bear.

Hey, did you know we get-
we get cheese for lunch?

Cheese! Can you believe it?

It's my favorite!

What a coincidence.

I show up to mouse school,
and they have cheese for lunch!

Who would have known?

[Bear chuckles]

So Tutter, are you feeling okay?

Do you still want me to stay?

Huh? Well, yeah!

I mean, would you Bear?
For a little while longer?

Of course, Tutter.
I'll be right over there.

Oh, okay, Bear.

All right, children, now
we're going to do some drawing.

Uh-oh, Bear!
It's time for some drawing now!

Oh, uh hey, Miss Maxwell

is everything okay?

Well, I don't know Tutter,
let's see.

[Tutter gulps]

Are you having
a good time drawing?

Well... yeah, I am.

Then everything's just fine.

-Really?
-Uh.

Really.

Oh, and by the way

that's a nice looking hunk
of cheddar you've got there.

I'd like to take
a bite out of it myself.

[giggles]

[laughs]

Looks like it's
just about nap time.

There are some mats at
the back of the room everyone.

Nap time! [yawn]

There should be

It just all goes by so fast,
you know.

I remember just
feeding him out of

a tiny little
mouse-sized bottle.

-Tell me about it.
-True, True.

TUTTER: Bear! Bear!

Oh! Coming Tutter!

TUTTER: Come over here!

Tutter!

Is everything okay, Tutter?

Um yeah, Bear.

Pretty good. Pretty good!

We even get to take a nap,

and Miss Maxwell is
going to sing us a song

while we're sleeping
and everything!

And then there's play time!

So uh, she's pretty nice,
this Miss Maxwell, huh?

Yeah, yeah,
she is, Bear, she really is!

I like her!

So, still worried about
the whole 'fitting in' thing?

Oh, I'm not really
sure about that yet, Bear.

I'm not sure...

Can you stay just
a little while longer?

Oh of course, Tutter.

Okay Okay, thanks, Bear.

I gotta go.

Come on, Luke, let's put more

blocks on it!

I'm not sure about this, Keisha.

It might become
structurally unstable.

Hey, there,
Tutter, is everything okay?

Oh... actually...

What is it, Tutter?

It's okay, you can tell me.

Well, it's just
that I usually talk

to Bear about these kinds
of things, Miss Maxwell.

He's really good
at answering questions

and helping with stuff.

Well, Tutter, why don't
you just give me a chance.

I can be pretty helpful too,
sometimes, you know.

Well, it's just that...

I kind of like Keisha and Luke.

I think they're nice!

I want to play with them,
Miss Maxwell but...

I'm kind of... well...

Shy?

Me? Shy?

[laugh]

Oh, I don't think so, Miss...
Well yeah, a little bit.

I have an idea.

Just try this.

Just go on over
to Luke and Keisha

and ask if you
can play with them!

I don't know, Miss Maxwell.

Oh! Luke! Ketsha! Hey!

So uh...
what are you guys doing?

Well, um, we were just
constructing this tower, Tutter.

Yeah, Tutter,
do you want to play?

Me? Play with you guys!

Yeah! That would be great!

[gasp]

The tower!

-Oh... I'm so...
-Whoaaa.

That was...

Yeah...that was...

-I didn't...
-Great!

Huh?

Yeah, wanna build another one?

I get to knock it down
this time.

Tutter.

Oh, hey, Bear.

So, Tutter, how's it going?

Are you still worried
about fitting in?

Fitting in? Me?

Oh, no, Bear.

You're the one who won't fit in!

You're too big! Too big!

Seriously, though,
it's okay, Bear, you can go.

Are you sure, Tutter?

Yeah...

Oh, there is one thing, Bear.

What is it, Tutter?

a first day wasn't it, Tutter?

I'm kinda tired.

Well, maybe it's time for this
little mouse to get some sleep.

was some first day wasn't it?

We have a lot to tell Luna,

Ah! There she is!

Bear, correct me if I'm wrong,
but wasn't today--

Tutter's first day of school!

[laughs] I thought so, Bear.

Well... how did it go?

Great, Luna. He did really well.

He liked school,
and his classmates...

he was a little
nervous at first.

After all,
it was such a big day for him!

And you too, I would think.

Yeah. He's really growing up.

Yes.

Well, from up here, Bear,
I have seen a lot of time go by,

and a lot of children
go off to school...

[sigh]

Then off to college...

Yes...

the world goes round and round,
and children grow up,

and take their first
steps out into the world...

But just remember,

they can always
return home again,

where it's safe, and warm.

Yeah.

Well, speaking
of time passing...

I'd better make my
way into the night sky

before everyone
starts to miss me!

Well, before you go Luna,

would you sing the

I wouldn't think of leaving
before doing that, Bear.
