and she's going to bring a surprise with

her when she comes too

truck why thank you actually this type

of truck is called a fire engine it has

pumps and hoses and even carries a

supply of water

here's one of the ladders we use to help

us climb up buildings

a fire hose

wow that's a really big hoax that's what

can spray a whole lot of water

and here are some of the other tools

that we use to help us fight fires oh

you can open things up with that in here

is some of our medical equipment to help

people who may be hurt

that's really important

use these to help us breathe while we're

going into smoky areas to fight fires oh

lots of important equipment oh yes it

prepares us for any emergency no wonder

it has such big wheels they've got to be

how do you learn to use all this

equipment we go through a training

program it's a special school for

firefighters oh cool i'd like to see

that school so would i robert so why

don't we take a look with

firefighters learn all about fighting

fires at a special school

they practice putting on their fire

fighting suits so they can get to a fire

when the fire alarm sounds

wow

their school has a special empty

building they use it to practice what

they've learned

they quickly pull out their fire hoses

take their equipment from the engine

and enter the building carefully wow

they have to really work together

they even climb ladders to reach places

far off the grounds

once they've gotten inside and put out

the fire

they spray more water to clear out the

smoke

firefighters work very very hard to

learn how to fight fires yeah so they

can help keep all of us safe and sound

they did a great job i sure am glad you

learned so much about fighting fires at

your special school so are we

masks we wear close-ups

this helmet is very hard and it helps

protect us from falling objects

and this face mask helps protect our

mouth and eyes

you sound kind of weird and you look

funny too but you shouldn't be afraid if

you see a firefighter coming because

she's there to help

that's right barney if you're in a

building and we call to you you need to

see it's just me

now these pants coat and gloves help

protect us from the heat

these are very special heavy boots if we

step on something hot they'll protect

our feet

you've almost disappeared boy this is

heavy well that's so it can better

protect us now who knows the most

important rule to remember if you're

ever in a house or building that catches

fire

that's absolutely right and you should

know how to leave a building that's

filled with smoke

you crawl under the smoke to find your

our fun and learning never end here's

what we did today

we were so excited to have a firefighter

and fire engine visit us today

hannah's neighbor firefighter vandiver

and firefighter berkeley showed us all

around their fire engine

we saw big ladders that they used to

climb tall buildings and fire hoses that

spray lots and lots of water they showed

us special tools they use to fight fires

and they even carry medical equipment to

help people who may be hurt

we found out that firefighters go to a

special school to learn how to put out

fires and firefighters have to wear

special clothing to protect them from

the heat of a fire

they might look a little strange but

it's okay because they're there to help

us

we learned that the most important rule

to remember if you're in a house or

building that catches fire is

get out and stay out

so please be careful around hot things
