Piper: Previously on Scream...

Emma: We're not friends.

We're not together. We're done.

I'm coming for that sorry bitch!

Why is your DNA on the inside of the mask?

If you believe in your heart Audrey couldn't do this, you listen to that.

I'm ready to talk.

Nina and I both made that video.

The night that it went viral, I went to Audrey to confess.

Are we even yet?

Getting close.

(GRUNTS)

I'm not doing this again. No one was supposed to get hurt.

If you try and burn me with that video, they'll find you in pieces in a ditch.

Tyler and Nina had a video of your dad doing things he should not have been doing.

Will kept the video, and he picked up where they left off.

This is all the money you've paid so far, and the last existing copy of the video.

I really don't wanna die for doing the right thing.

Remember, there's a k*ller on the loose.

It's not the story I came for, but it's a hell of a bonus chapter.

Uh-oh. You're making your sausage and kale thing?

Mmm-hmm.

It must be love.

(SCOFFS)

(CHUCKLES)

All my meals with Clark have been out of Styrofoam.

We're having dinner at 7:00. Clark's bringing Kieran.

(SIGHS) I hope he likes it.

It's the only thing I know how to make.

Mom, he's not here for the kale.

(BOTH CHUCKLE)

Hey, I'm glad we talked.

About Brandon.

Yeah. Me, too.

I mean, it must've been hard keeping it a secret all those years.

You learn to live with it.

What about Dad?

I mean, you said you guys had a fight that night.

How'd you move past that? You got married, you had me.

And even through everything, I loved your dad.

In a way, almost losing him brought us closer together.

And having you certainly did.

Then why'd he leave?

Not everyone learns to live with it.

(CAR HORN HONKING)

Who is that?

Kieran.

What?

Mom, we are just friends.

Bye.

(CHUCKLES)

Do you think this is wrong? (CHUCKLES)

You know, your dad, my mom...

...the Brady Bunch weirdness of all of it?

We can always press "pause."

Uh... (CHUCKLES)

Okay.

I mean, that's a good idea. Maybe we should wait and see what's going on with our parents.

I mean, we don't wanna become a reality TV show.

(CHUCKLES)

(BELL RINGS)

Right?

Or maybe we can just call this an evaluation phase?

(CHUCKLES)

I like the way you think.

(CELL PHONE CHIMES)

(SIGHS)

Everything okay?

Uh... (CHUCKLES)

Just Will.

Don't worry, he's harmless.

Noah: There's my little felon.

So glad my ordeal brought you such amusement.

It would've brought me cold hard cash hawking these bad boys, but then you got sprung early, so...

(CHUCKLES)

Silver lining, my Christmas shopping's done.

Okay, before you ask about my Shawshank Redemption, no, I did not get traded for a pack of cigarettes.

Or get chin-checked.

And I definitely did not wear the four-piece.

But you did Google prison slang.

Yep, you got me.

Uh, I'm really glad you're back.

And, you know, not a demented psychopath.

Jury's still out on that one.

(CHUCKLES)

But I'd still be there if it wasn't for Emma.

Yeah.

She really came through.

Hey.

So did you.

Emma told me you went with her, and watching that video must've really freaked you out.

What? No.

I mean, not that I even watched it.

Uh-huh. Okay, so aside from these lovely midterms I get to make up after school, what did I miss?

Well, I've been digging more into our mysterious Mr. Branson.

Mmm.

I tried running a fingerprint but I got nothing, so no priors.

So maybe it's time to report his ass for the malware?

Oh, yeah, definitely.

If it was still active. Someone scrubbed it.

Peep show's closed. Almost like it never existed.

And he's got a sub today.

The "sub-plot" thickens.

You get it?

(SCOFFS)

You figure out where the bedsheet in Daddy's deep freeze came from?

The guest room. Mom wanted to redecorate.

(SIGHS) Now she may never get the chance.

So why don't you just come out point blank and say "Dad, where the hell is my mom?"

I did.

And he swears she's in rehab, but he won't tell me which one.

He went out late last night, came back all skulky.

I don't know, I just...

I have a feeling something really bad is going on.

Hey! Um, have either of you guys seen Will?

Not since practice last night.

But he was feeling pretty rock-bottom.

So, I bet he was hella-deep in a bottle of his dad's cheap-label whiskey.

(SCOFFS) Which is exactly where he belongs.

What?

He texted me that he tried to fix things last night, but it failed.

I don't know. It was weird.

You said your dad went out last night?

Yeah.

I think I may know who he was meeting.

What're you talking about?

Jake found out that Will's been blackmailing my dad.

He had a video of him doing something pretty bad.

But where is Will?

I don't know. We don't know.

Right, Jake? Right, Jake?

We need to talk.

Where the hell are we?

This is the place where Will and I did the money drop with your dad.

I can't believe you tried to put all of the blame on Will.

Such a d*ck.

I'm sorry.

But let's look at the bigger picture, okay?

Like, if it wasn't for us, you wouldn't even know about your dad.

So I think that that should carry a...

Guys, stop!

Okay? We've all done bad things.

Can we just focus on finding Will?

So Will wanted to return the money and the phone with the video on it.

He was trying to do the right thing, and he wanted a witness, and I wanted a story.

So, uh, you're gonna tell that story?

Well, it's kind of what I do.

But let's just focus on finding your friend first.

So where is he?

The Mayor left, and then that masked freak showed up.

He tried to k*ll me, and Will...

Will saved my life.

I came to, my head was pounding, Will was gone, and I found this.

Oh, my God. (GROANS)

Hey.

Are you okay?

Just a mild concussion but I'm okay.

You guys, take her outside.

No, Emma.

I'll meet you out there. I just need to think.

(DOOR OPENS)

(DOOR CLOSES)

(CELL PHONE RINGS)

Oh, my God.

Will: Emma? Emma, help!

Will? Are you okay?

k*ller: Hello, Emma. Missing something?

You son of a bitch. Where is he?

You broke his heart. He's moved on.

Oh, my God, is he dead?

Now what would be the fun in that?

Okay. (BREATH TREMBLING)

Don't hurt him. Where is he? Where is he?

I thought you were done with him.

That's not what I meant.

Just... What do you want?

New game, hide and seek.

Just like Daisy and Brandon used to play.

Okay. I know about Daisy and Brandon.

My mom told me everything.

Your mom's a lying whore!

In time, you'll know the truth. But first, you better find Will!

Will: Emma! No. No!

Oh, Sharon, I wish society would've kept us.

Emma: Just call me back, okay?

How's my partner-in-crime?

I was just about to start a new Pathfinder campaign if you're up for some non-felonious fun.

Noah, do you have any idea where Audrey is?

She's not answering her phone.

Uh, she's taking the midterm she missed in the clink.

Her phone's off. You okay?

No, not really.

Look, Will needs help.

Finding his moral compass?

No, finding his phone. Do you have any idea how to track it?

Yes. An app called "Find My Phone."

Okay, let's say he doesn't have that app.

Well, I may be familiar with some GPS guidance software.

But why would I do tech support for him?

Why would you?

So he doesn't die.

Brooke! What a nice surprise.

I know what's been going on.

I know about Will. I know about the money.

I know about everything!

Keep your voice down.

Daddy, Will's missing. He was att*cked.

And I know that you met him last night.

Piper Shaw was there.

She heard everything!

Brooke, I have no idea.

Daddy, I've been defending you to my friends, trying to convince myself that I'm wrong, that Mom's okay.

I told you, your mom's fine.

She's in rehab in Arizona.

I've seen the video.

You were moving a body.

(SCOFFS) What you saw is not what it looks like.

And we're not discussing this anymore.

Jake: Brooke?

Is everything okay?

I want you to tell me the truth.

Do you know where Will is?

Honey, I swear.

I have no idea.

I really hope so.

And Mom better be okay.

Because the truth will come out.

And I won't protect you.

Let's go, Jake.

Brooke?

Brooke!

DRADIS contact. I've got the phone.

I don't see anything.

Someplace out past the crossroads.

(DOOR OPENING)

I'm going.

(DOOR CLOSING)

She won't be by herself. You'll be with us.

Guys, no.

This psycho is playing sick games.

I cannot ask you guys to come.

You don't have to.

We got your back. And Will's.

Don't we?

Wait...

We?

Spotty cell signal, but this is definitely the area.

Okay. Creepy building, psycho k*ller.

Time to w*apon up.

I got a skinner and a gut hook.

Wait, why, exactly?

(CELL PHONE RINGS)

To skin and gut things?

Kieran: Hey, you almost here?

Kieran! Uh, not exactly.

Awkward family time was your mom's idea.

Where are you?

I can't tell you right now.

Are you with Will?

No, it's not what you're thinking.

Emma, tell me what's going on. Are you...

Are you safe?

Yes, I'm safe.

Okay. Do you need my help?

I... I'm gonna need you to cover for me, okay?

So, you want me to tell the 'rents you're at Audrey's?

Yeah. Yeah, helping her study for midterms.

Thank you so much. I owe you one.

Yeah, you do.

We gotta find a way in.

Okay. You guys go that way.

Noah and I are gonna go this way. And we'll meet you around back.

That sounds like the first of many bad decisions.

Write your blood type on your boots and leave your letters to your loved ones.

Let's Shake n' Jake.

(BIRDS SQUAWKING)

(CHITTERING)

Noah, you have to stop doing that.

(GLASS CRUNCHING)

Well, I would walk backwards, but there's a lot of broken glass.

You're making me more nervous than I already am, okay?

Sorry. As much as I enjoy a good indie horror flick, in real life, it's just really terrifying.

This doesn't feel right.

I mean, why is he changing the game all of a sudden?

It's 'cause he's playing chess instead of checkers.

It started with Riley, and now Will.

He's making you responsible for who lives or dies.

And I have all of the pieces to lose.

He's hiding behind a mask.

There's nothing that I can take away from him.

Unless you figure out who he is.

Until then, he'll just keep upping the game.

It's like this whole thing, you know, leading us here, it's like he wants you to think you have some power, and then he can just take it all away.

Sounds like you admire this guy or something.

What? No! He's like this crazy, psycho loser, k*ller guy.

I mean, if he wants me to find Will, why not just leave the door open?

Classic cat and mouse.

He likes to play with his food before he eats it.

Unless maybe he'd rather get right to the main course.

I just had a thought.

Your mom would be so proud.

Jake: We're out here in the middle of nowhere, and we don't even know what we're walking into.

All because Nerd HQ led us here?

What are you saying, Noah's the k*ller?

I'm just saying, on every cop show, there's always that one harmless guy that's usually the vic's roommate or her manager at the coffee shop that's like "Susie's dead? That's horrible!"

(SCOFFS)

Did you know that you sound like him right now?

Nine times out of 10, that guy's the k*ller.

And he's usually sweet and funny and uber smart.

Well, that takes you off the table.

Or does it?

Mmm.

So, congratulations.

Thanks.

Detective Brock's off the case.

I'm gonna miss her.

Yeah, I'm sure you will.

So, Kieran, how are you adjusting?

You like Lakewood so far?

Yeah. Well, aside from all the murders, it's nice.

What is this place?

I don't know.

It's not a happy place.

Emma: Hello? Will?

It's a bowling alley.

Whoa, that is the most mack daddy jaguar-and-space-shuttle mural I've ever seen.

Jake? Come on!

You can't rush the Jake.

(SIGHS) (GROANS)

Your fists are like little ball-peen hammers.

Brooke: Thanks for waiting up.

It smells like wet dog and car wax.

Jake: Yummy.

(THUDS)

Noah: Whoa!

Whoa. Well, that was terrifying.

Brooke: God, I hate bowling.

Emma: Okay.

I understood why he took me to the hospital, but why would he bring Will here?

Yeah, this place is big.

We should split up finding Will.

Said no one who survived a horror movie, ever.

Noah, you come with me. You guys stay together.

Noah: This is dumb, but fine, don't listen.

So I hear you and Emma are spending a lot of time together.

How's that going for you?

Just making friends.

It's too bad that Emma had to miss tonight.

Yes.

Maggie: You know what?

She can help Audrey study another time, I'll call her.

Oh, no, no, why don't I just pick her up myself?

Really?

Yeah, um, thank you so much. This was great.

Wow. He could not get out of here fast enough.

So quiet.

(SCOFFS) Yeah, until all the running and screaming starts.
(CLATTERING)

Oh! Okay, I'm sorry, but all of this just screams bad idea.

Look, you can still go if you wanna go.

No. This psycho took Riley from me.

I can't just let him take Will from you.

Even if he was kinda asking for it.

Well, thanks for staying.

Wait.

On a scale of one to 10, exactly how mad are you at me?

Eleventy.

Come on.

I made a stupid mistake.

But there's a k*ller on the loose.

No one should die with unresolved issues.

Anger or otherwise.

Oh, my God.

Are you actually using fear of death to get in my pants?

Absolutely not.

Unless that would comfort you.

You're unbelievable.

I'll take that as a "No."

Noah: Hey, let me ask you something.

Do you find Shake'n Jake's story a little bit odd?

How so?

I mean, if Jake suspected Will was going to meet Maddox last night, don't you think he would've tried to stop him?

What do you mean?

I mean, maybe Jake did try to stop him, wearing a black raincoat and a Brandon James mask.

Are you saying that Jake is the k*ller?

(SHUSHING)

I'm just saying, playing the fool is a pretty great cover.

And he was pretty eager to tromp into danger with the only people who know about what he did.

And pack a whole lot of knives.

Come on, Brooke, I was yanking your chain.

You're like a caveman.

Dumb, crass, barely housebroken.

We can't all be metrosexual like Seth Branson.

What are you talking about?

Please, the affair with the un-named college guy?

Hashtag not subtitle.

(SIGHS)

Whatever. It's over.

Just a word of advice, if you want women to like you, drop the whole frat-boy thing.

Just be real.

Are you done?

Yes.

Good.

'Cause nature calls.

Emma: We looked everywhere.

Noah: Maybe Will's not here.

He's gotta be here. It's part of the game.

I'm missing something.

What exactly did your psycho say?

That it was hide and seek.

But what do you hide in a bowling alley?

Besides Will, obviously.

Obviously.

Uh, the guts, you know, like the, the place where you make it all work.
