03x10 - For It May Come True

Post by bunniefuu »

Goliath: one thousand
years ago,

Superstition
and the sword ruled.

It was a time of darkness.

It was a world of fear.

It was the age of gargoyles.

Stone by day,

Warriors by night.

We were betrayed by the humans

We had sworn to protect,

Frozen in stone
by a magic spell

For 1,000 years.

Now, here in manhattan,

The spell is broken

And we live again.

[Deep growl]

We are defenders
of the night.

We are gargoyles!

Goliath:
unfulfilled yearnings

Live within
the most contented soul.

What might have been,

What might one day be
if only things
were different.

So when life's struggles
weigh heavy,

There is the temptation
to only see the happiness
of other lives.

But this is folly.

For each life contains
its own burdens,

Though they may forever
be hidden to all

But the one
who carries them.

[Man] all right, move it,
move it, move it!

Get those crates
on the trucks now.

[Woman] yes, sir.

-Goliath, I'm in.
Do you copy?
-Yes, I hear you.

-What do you see?
-You were right.
It's castaway.

-I knew it.
-I don't like it.

Mr. Quarryman has
enough munitions here

To start a small w*r.

Castaway again?

Yes.

Yes. It is as we suspected.

He's building an army

Whose sole purpose
is to destroy us.

Yep, a typical night
in the life of a gargoyle.

Night after night,
we risk our lives

For creatures
who will never accept us.

The world has changed.

We shall never be a part
of the community we protect.

Has nothing we have done
been of use?

Would anyone notice
if we were to stop?

I have begun to wonder.

All right,
let's roll 'em out.

Whoa.

[Castaway]
you like it?

They're used against
enemies that fly.

Hey!

She's packing,
commander.

Detective maza,
isn't it?

John castaway
at your service.

Where'd you get
those things?

Well, there was this
third world country

With a surplus
of heavy weapons

And a shortage of cash.

We had the cash,
but no heavy weapons.

-It was a good deal
all around.
-Are you crazy?

You can't fire those things
in the middle of the city.

[Mockingly] "think about
the innocent bystanders."

Everyone is expendable

In a w*r against
a great evil.

The gargoyles aren't evil.

They are.
They are monstrosities.

They are abominations,

And they must be
eliminated.

Would it matter if I said
that you were under arrest?

Not really.

I figured.

[Grunting]

Incompetents,
get up and get her.

Guys, I could use
a hand in here.

We're on our way.

Goliath, watch out.
They've got anti--

[Grunts]

Elisa? Elisa?

[Static]

Hurry!

You are hereby convicted
of aiding and abetting
the enemy

During time of w*r,
detective.

And you know the penalty
for that.

Up there!
Gargoyles!

Blow them out of the sky.
Do it!

[Grunts]

Ah, some kind of cannon.

Evasive action.

Watch out!

[Grunts]

[Shouts]

No!

Yes! Yes!
We've got them!

We must fall back.

No! They have elisa.

Look out!

[Grunting]

Can't...get... [Grunts]

[Groans]

Ohh...

Woman: rise and shine.

I said get up, sleepyhead.
Rise and shine.

It's a beautiful morning.

Morning?

[Gasps]

What is all this?

[Gasps]

Sunlight.

But I'm awake.

That's impossible.

Elisa:
what did you say, dear?

Are we married?

Last time I checked.
Are you ok?

I am not quite
feeling like myself.

I told you not to eat
that pizza last night.

It gives you nightmares.

James? Kim?
School bus is here.

Hi, daddy.
Bye, daddy.

-[Coughing]
-bye, mom.

Remember, I want you
home by 5:00.

Daddy?
We have children?

Ooh, you better
get dressed

Or you're gonna
be late for work.

Work?

Have a good day, hon.

Whoa. You are having
a weird morning.

Not that I'm complaining.

Love you.

I love you, too.

"Director of
company archives."

Hmm.

I'm a glorified librarian.

For xanatos?

[Dings]

I want to
see xanatos, now!

I beg your pardon?

What has happened to me?

Where are the rest
of the gargoyles?

What on earth are
you talking about?

Look at me, I'm human.

I'm married to elisa.
We have two children.

How nice for you.

However,
your personal life

Is of no interest
to me or to mr. Xanatos.

Good day.

But it doesn't
make sense.

Nothing you've said
makes sense.

Now either
you go to your office
and do your job,

Or I will have security
escort you
out of the building.

It's up to you.

My office, my job.

Tell xanatos
I have to see him.

-Mr. Xanatos--
-i know. I saw.

-What do you think it means?
-I'm not sure.

He seems to know
about the gargoyles
and my connection to them.

Let's keep an eye
on our angry
young employee.

He may prove useful.

Children, I need
to talk to you.

If anything's broken,
she did it.

I do not know about
anything being broken,

But I do need
your help with this.

Well, sure, daddy.

There is a place
called the internet

Where you can learn things.

Ok, we'll help.

But I don't get it.

You know all
about computers.

No, that is lexington.

Who's lexington?

Uh, I shall explain later.

Just help me find out
about... Gargoyles.

What are you
doing up so late?

I've been at
this machine for hours,

And still I cannot
find one mention
of living gargoyles.

Of course not.
That's silly.

No, it is not.

I am one of them.

Or at least I was.

What-what are you
talking about?

Gargoyles are not
just statues perched
on old castles.

Some are real.

Some are alive.

That-that's crazy.

No, this is crazy.

Me here with you,

Those children,
this face...

Where are you going?

-[Wings flapping]
-[gasps]

[Man] hey, man,
where's your coat?

In all this rain,
you might catch your death.

[Laughing]

Go away.

I do not wish to hurt you.

Too bad the feeling's
not mutual.

[Snaps fingers]

[Grunts]

-[Grunts]
-whoa!

Why-- ohh! Ooh!

What are you,
some kind of hero?

[Coughing]

I do not know anymore.

Either way,
you're about to retire.

[Yells]

Uh-uh, you first.

[Grunts]

[Yells]

What are you?

Bad luck for thieving
scoundrels like you.

[Roars]

Man, that was
way too easy.

Hudson! You're alive!

Do I know you, sir?

Brooklyn, lexington,
broadway!

I thought
I'd never find you.

[Chuckles]

This guy's been
doing his homework.

It's me, goliath.

You said our names
were silly.

This is serious.

Hands off, pal.

[Police sirens approaching]

We must seek
higher ground.

Wait!

Go home to your family,
human.

But you are my family.

I said, let me go!

No!

Please stop!

[Grunting]

Doesn't give up, does he?

Don't leave me. Please.

Please!

[Yelling]

What a strange human.

[Groans]

Daddy?

Are you gonna
be all right?

I...

I do not know.

Daddy'll be fine.

He just needs rest.

Now I'll be out
in a minute.

Are you out of your mind,
chasing after
those monsters?

So you do know
that they exist.

I'm a cop. I know
lots of stuff that
doesn't make the papers.

I-i just don't know
how you found out.

-I tried to explain--
-oh, right,

My husband isn't a man,
he's a hobgoblin.

I just didn't notice.

That is not what I meant.

Honey, those things
are a menace.

When they show up,
people get hurt.

People die.

And you want to be
one of them?

Elisa,
I am one of them.

Why?

Why must you indulge
this obsession?

Don't you care
about me?

Or the children?

I thought
we were everything
you ever wanted.

I...

If you keep this up,

You're gonna lose it all.

[Woman] last night,
the gargoyles committed
three more vicious assaults,

One of which involved
the spouse of our own
detective maza.

The mayor has declared

These creatures
a public menace.

I couldn't agree more.

Therefore, the force
is on tactical alert

Effective immediately.

We start tonight
in this area.

I'm gonna need officers
who are ready

To use any means necessary
to get rid of these things.

Volunteers?

Me.

[Door opens]

Who's there?

[Groans]

I make my own
visiting hours.

I was told you
wanted to see me.

Yes, something
has happened to me.

Yesterday I was a gargoyle,

Today I am a human.

It is some sort of magic.

Even my clan
fails to recognize me.

And you believe I can
help them understand?

I know it was you
who brought us-- them here.

I know of
no one else to ask.

I would like to help,

But I have no idea
how to find them.

When I was with the gargoyles,
we had hiding places.

I could take you to them.

That would be
most helpful.

Let me talk to them first.

Be my guest.

[Roars]

What's this?

Do not be afraid.

I am a friend.

You again.

-What do you want?
-To talk.

Two days ago,
we were in a battle,

Then I woke up
and I was like this.

Everything-- wait.

Where's angela?

Who's angela?

And bronx?

Where is bronx?

How do you know
of our bronx?

He's dead.

-Xanatos did away with him.
-What?

Sorry to cut short
your reunion.

But frankly,
I'm getting bored.
[Snaps fingers]

[Yelling]

Are you insane?

Funny question
coming from a file clerk

Who thinks
he's a gargoyle.

The xanatos I knew
had given up such cruelty.

Foolish man.

[Helicopter approaches]

N.y.p.d.

Everyone stay where you are.

The gargoyles are mine.

Elisa!

Aah!

[Helicopter engine
sputtering]

Elisa!

[Grunting]

You told your wife,
the cop, didn't you?

This is all your fault.

[Grunting]

[Yells]

Titania.

What does this mean?

Do not be ungrateful.

I just gave you a gift,

A chance to experience
your fondest dreams.

Why?

For my grandson alex
and fox, my daughter.

You do not realize
the extraordinary protection

Your clan affords them.

Yes.
But I don't see--

You were questioning
your worth, goliath.

Considering giving up.

If you were to do so,
your clan would fall apart,

And that would
endanger my daughter
and her child.

I allowed you to see
the consequences
of your yearnings.

Yes, I was accepted, loved,

No longer an outsider.
Only...

You were not at peace.

And there were other
unforeseen effects
of your change.

If you had never
been a gargoyle,

Xanatos might never
have reformed.

Elisa might have become
a gargoyle hunter

Instead of an ally
and a true friend.

Indeed, if you were to deny
your gargoyle nature,

You might lose
all that you hold dear.

Or not.

It is only
one possibility.

There was a moment when
I held elisa in my arms

That I felt the simple joy
of belonging.

But it wasn't real.

Make me the gargoyle
that I am.

[Grunts]

There must be a way
to stop those g*ns.

There.
How can I get--

[Grunts]

There's another one!
Fire! Fire!

[Grunts]

[All yelling]

[Grunting]

You have the right
to remain silent.

-In fact, I'd prefer it.
-[Sirens approaching]

Goliath, come on,
say something.

The cannons...
Did i...

You trashed 'em.

Yeah!

Oops.

Well, you seem
like your old self.

And who else
would I be?

Uh, never mind.

Let's go home.
