That's me, Fred the housecat.

When my family leaves

Four skips!

A very good toss for Squeeks!

But she'll have to do

Skipping World Championship!

Squeeks selects another
flat skipping stone.

Okay, here's her final toss.

She lines up.

She takes aim.

And... it's off!

One, two, three,

Six skips!

Oh, she did it!

Squeeks did it, folks!

A new world record for Squeeks!

What's that?

Gold?

Could this really be gold?

(Hollering)

There's gold in them thar hills!

You guys, I think I found gold!

It's gold!
It's gotta be!

Oof.

What do you think?
I mean, this is definitely gold!

Hmmm...

Well, it's shiny.

And so sparkly!

But is it gold, you guys?!

Let's check it out!

Okay, how do we tell real gold

from rocks that just
look like gold.

Yes! Time to check

Oh, where'd they go?

So, this is the exact spot
where I found the gold.

Water? Why'd it
have to be water?

Well, because streams are good
places to find gold.

And look, black sand on the
bottom here.

Says here that black sand

is a good sign that
there might be gold!

Aah! Skunk!

He's trying to make me stinky!

I'm on it!

"Best ways to find gold."

Oh, here's something...

MAN:
Well, hi there, fellow
prospectors.

You say you wanna pan for gold?

Well, here's how!

First dip your pan in the
water, under the sand and dirt,

and gently lift it up.

If you don't have a real pan,

you can use an ordinary
pie pan!

Swirl the pan like so,
in a back and forth motion.

This separates the lighter
parts from the heavier parts.

Water and the lighter parts
spill out.

Add some more water
and do the swirl again.

You just want the heavier stuff
to stay in the pan,

like black sand, pebbles,
and hopefully...

Wait a minute, is that gold?!

It is!

Gold!

I found gold!

That gold will be mine!

This kinda looks like gold,
but it's also different.

It's not as shiny.

Huh, the colour is more
orangey-yellow...

And it breaks.

Oh... gold doesn't break.

Oh boy! It smells like eggs.

It's called pyrite.

Some call it "fools' gold".

It's certainly a beautiful rock,
but it's not gold.

Yeah, it's not gold.

But, at least I can add it
to my collection.

Nature Cat can use this
technique as his secret w*apon!

Tell me more.

It's something that
we wild animals use

when we don't wanna be seen.

It's called camouflage!

ALL:
Ooohh... camouflage!

So, we use the patterns and
colours of our fur or skin

to blend in
with what's around us...

Like this!

Wait, where'd Squeeks go?

Yeah! Where'd she go?
Where'd she go?

Tada! Ya see that!

Hiding in plain sight!

Ho, ho!
Brava, Squeeks!

Oh! Let me try that!

Chamomile!

It's camouflage, Hal.
And we can totally see you.

Camo-whammo!

No, camouflage.

Yes, nailed it!

Oh no, it's time for the game!

You are so ready, Nature Cat!

You really think so?!
