and today I'm visiting

a fire station.

- Hi, I'm firefighter Lisa,
and I'm gonna show you around.

This is where we have
our turn out gear.

This is what we wear
to protect us from a fire.

And this is my firefighter
protective gear.

This is my helmet.
This is my coat.

And these are my pants
and my boots.

How quickly that was?

And, Lukas,
this is the engine truck.

It carries gallons of water,

and it empties in minutes!

This is our hose that we connect
to the fire hydrant.

It's really big, isn't it?

- Mm-hm!
- And it's heavy!

Wanna feel it?
- Yeah.

OK, Lukas, this is
where the driver will sit

when we're going to a fire.

We would turn on ignition,
which would take us

to the fire,
and then we would need

an air horn, so we would have
to push the lever to the left.

(Honk! Honk!)
- And push the lever to the
right, which would be the siren.

(siren)

- Thanks for coming to the
fire station with me, neighbor.

- (Lukas and Lisa): Bye!

(siren)

- Choo-choo! Hi, neighbor!

- Hello, neighbor.

It's me, Daniel Tiger,
and I like trains!

I like the engine the best.

That's where the engineer sits
and he says,

to put them in order.

- The engine goes first,

so it can pull the train.

- Yes! And it makes it
go fast, fast, fast!

- The cars are next.

The cars carry all of the people

and the things
on the train, meow-meow!

- Oh! Mister Bear
wants to ride in the train cars.

the last part of the train,

the caboose!

- The caboose always goes
on the end of the train.

(Harriett laughing)

on a steam train!

I'm your conductor today.

- Colby!
- Nice to meet you, Colby.

You guys wanna go down
and see the locomotive?

- Yeah.
- Come on, let's go!

I'm gonna show you something
most kids don't get a chance

to see: the inside
of a steam locomotive.

- We have to burn coal
and put it in the fire.

And that makes steam,
and the steam drives

the wheels and pulls the train.

These handles here
are brake valves

to stop the train.

And I have a whistle cord
right here.

(train whistling)

- Oooh! That's loud, Kaiya!
(Miss Elaina giggling)

- You guys wanna see
the inside of a train car?

- (kids): Yeah!
- Climb aboard.

Come on in, guys!

You're inside the rail car now.

These cars are very old.

Come on this way, and I'll take
you into the dining car!

If somebody wants something
to eat, if they want a meal,

they come into this car,
and this is the dining car.

- All aboard! It's time to
ride!

Chuga-chuga-chuga-chuga!

(inaudible words)

(Miss Elaina giggling)
It's fun to ride on a train!

(train whistling)
