09x02 - Firefighters at School/Daniel's Doll

Post by bunniefuu »

Hi, neighbor.
[TROLLEY CHIMES]

Today at school firefighters
are visiting our class.

And then I'm going
to the Treehouse

to play with Katerina
and O and my new doll

that Grandpere made for me.

I'll be right back.

[THEME - "DANIEL TIGER'S
NEIGHBORHOOD"]

THEME SONG: It's a beautiful
day in the neighborhood,

a beautiful day for a neighbor.

Would you be mine?

Could you be mine?

Won't you be my neighbor?

It's Daniel Tiger's
neighborhood,

a land of make-believe.

Won't you ride along with me?

Ride along.

It's Daniel Tiger's
neighborhood.

So much to do, so much to see.

Won't you ride along with me?

Ride along.

I've got lots of
friends for you to meet

in this land of make-believe,
a friendly face on every street

just waiting to greet you.

It's a beautiful day
in the neighborhood,

a beautiful day for a neighbor,
in Daniel Tiger's neighborhood.

DANIEL TIGER: (IMITATING SIREN)
Wee-ooh, wee-ooh, wee-ooh!

Hire, neighbor.

I'm at school today.

Wee-ooh, wee-ooh, wee-ooh.
Psst!

Guess what I'm pretending to be.

A firefighter!

And guess what else
is happening today.

Real firefighters are
visiting our class.

Have you ever seen a
firefighter before?

I'm excited!

Listen up, everyone.

We have just a few
more minutes to play

before the firefighters arrive.

- Firefighters!
- Woohoo!

Let's play!

Zoom!

I'm an astronaut.

And I'm zooming to the moon.

Zoo- oo- oo- oo- oo- oo--

oh!

That made me dizzy.

(GIGGLING) I like
your astronaut helmet.

I wonder if there's
anything else

I can use to be a firefighter.

Hmm.

Ooh!

I'll use this as my
firefighter hose.

Woosh!

Grr-ific!

You look like a real
firefighter, Daniel.

Thanks.

Now all I need is
a fire to put out.

[WHISTLE BLOWS]

You need a fire to put out?

Mhm.
[WHISTLE BLOWS]

There's a fire over there.

It's just pretend.

Hurry!

Wee-ooh, wee-ooh, wee-ooh.

Firefighter Daniel
is here to help.

Woosh!
[IMITATING WATER SPRAYING]

Keep going,
Firefighter Daniel.

It's working.

The water's putting
out the fire.

Wee-ooh, wee-ooh.

Miss Elaina,
what are you doing?

I'm Firefighter Miss Elaina.

And I'm helping Daniel
put the fire out.

Stand back, toots!

You're a firefighter?

But you can't be a firefighter.

Why not?

Because you're an astronaut.

Oh, I was an astronaut,
but now I'm a firefighter.

But you're always
an astronaut.

Well, right now
I'm a firefighter.

But Miss Elaina, you
have to be an astronaut.

No, I don't!

Yes, you do!

Uh-oh.

This is not good.

Uh, Teacher Harriet?

We need your help.

What's going on?

I want to be a firefighter
and help put the fire out.

But she's an astronaut.

She even had the
helmet on before.

Sometimes Miss Elaina might
want to be an astronaut.

Other times she might
want to be a firefighter,

or even something else.

You know--

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

Really?

You can be more than one thing?

Well, I'm a firefighter now.

And lots of times I pretend to
be Tigey the Adventure Tiger.

Here, Miss Elaina.

You can use my firefighter hose.

Thanks, Daniel.

ALL: (SINGING) You can
be more than one thing.

Woosh!

- Hey, you got me wet.
- Oops!

[GIGGLING]

[BELL CLANGING]

What are those
flashing lights?

It's our firefighters
coming along on Trolley.

Come on outside, and we'll
all get a better look.

- Oh, boy!
- Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

Look, it's Trolley
and the firefighters.

But one of the
firefighters is Dr. Anna.

She's a doctor
and a firefighter?

Hi, Daddy!

That's my daddy.

Um, why is your dad
wearing a firefighter's hat?

Because he's a
firefighter, toots.

And he's my daddy.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

Oh, I get it.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

Let's go talk to
our firefighters.

Hey, there.

These are our
neighborhood firefighters.

They help our neighborhood
in lots of different ways.

With the help of
Trolley, of course.

[TROLLEY CHIMES]

Now, since you're all going
to be learning about what

it's like to be
a firefighter, we

have a little surprise for you.
- Whoa!

Neat!

Firefighter hats!

Hurray!

Now that you're
junior firefighters,

here are some things
you might need to know.

When we hear there's a
fire, we have to be fast.

That's right.

And we put on our
firefighter coats and hats

to protect our bodies.
- Whoa!

It's heavy.

And we use this bell to
tell everyone, look out!

We are in a hurry!
[BELL CLANGING]

- Boom-erific!
- Hoo hoo!

- Royal!
- Whoa!

And then when we
get to the fire,

we might have to climb
this ladder to reach it.

And we use our hoses to
spray water on the fire

to put it out.

Whoa, it's pretty heavy.

I can pretend like this.

Woosh!

That's right.

Now, who wants to come over
and ring Trolley's fire bell?

ALL: I do, I do, I do!

Ugh!

Ouch!

I scraped my hand.

Here, Prince Wednesday.

Let me take a look.

Are you still a
doctor, Dr. Anna?

- Of course.
- And you're a firefighter?

Yes, that's right.

But how can you be both?

Because--

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

I like to help people
in different ways.

I want to help people and be
a firefighter when I grow up,

just like you and my dad.

But I also want to
be an astronaut.

Well, Miss Elaina, you would
make a wonderful astronaut

and a fine firefighter too.

[TROLLEY CHIMES]

Trolley helps
when there's a fire.

I wonder what else
Trolley could do.

(GIGGLING) Hey!

Do you want to
make-believe with me?

Let's make-believe that
Trolley can be lots of things.

[TROLLEY CHIMES]
[MUSIC PLAYING]

(SINGING) Trolley,
Trolley, we love Trolley.

Look at all things
that Trolley can be.

A race car Trolley,
so fast and speedy.

Tow truck Trolley,
tows a heavy load

then cruises on down the road.

Wow, fire truck Trolley
sounds like this.

Whoa!

Submarine Trolley dives
underwater and out to sea.

We love Trolley.

Wasn't that grr-ific?

We better get going.

Goodbye, junior firefighters.

Stay safe.

Thank you very much.

That was royally fun!

Bye!

Thanks, Daddy!
[TROLLEY CHIMES]

Let's play.

Come on, firefighters!

Follow me.

Wee-ooh, wee-ooh.

I have the hose.

Woosh!

I'll keep an eye
out for more fires.

[GIGGLING]

A soccer ball.

Now I want to be
a soccer player.

Firefighter Daniel,
come play with us.

I'm not Firefighter
Daniel anymore.

I'm Daniel the Soccer Star.
- You are?

We're all being
firefighters now.

You have to be one too.

But, uh, I don't want
to be a firefighter now.

But you have to.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

Sorry, Daniel.

You're right.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

You can be a soccer
star if you want to.

And I'm going to be a soccer
player firefighter police man.

[WHISTLE BLOWS]

So silly, Prince Wednesday.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

(SINGING) You
can be, you can be,

you can be more than one thing.

I can be an artist.

I paint with green and blue.

Now I'm singing on a stage
because I'm a singer too.

I can be a musician.

I can play a tune for you.

Now I'm playing with my kid
because I'm a daddy too.

BOTH: You can be, you can be,
you can be more than one thing.

I can be a doctor, and
I will take care of you.

Now I'm riding in a fire truck
because I'm a firefighter too.

ALL: You can be, you can
be, you can be more than one

thing, more than one thing.

Hi, Prince Wednesday.

You ready to go?

Are we going swimming today?

Not today.

Oh, I'm dressed like
this because I just came

from my new job as a lifeguard.

I help keep everyone
safe while they swim.

But I thought you
were a babysitter.

I am.

You know, you can be
more than one thing.

And I'm lots of things.

I'm a babysitter.

And guess what else I am.

A crossing guard.

A waiter.

A grocery clerk.

And now a life guard.

Whoa!

You're a lot of things.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

Woosh!

I like pretending to
be lots of things.

What do you like to pretend?

You can be more than one thing.

Thanks for coming to
school with me today.

Ugga mugga.

Let's go see some neighbors.
[MUSIC PLAYING]

(SINGING) You
can be, you can be,

you can be more than one thing.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

More than one thing.

I like these visits with you.

[BIRDS CHIRPING]

Hi, neighbor.

I'm Tigey the Adventure Tiger.

I'm big and strong.

Grr!

[LAUGHING] My grandpere
is visiting today, see?

Come on.

Let's see if there's
anyone who needs our help.

(WHISPERING) There's
my grandpere.

Hi, Grandpere!

Well, if it isn't Tigey
the Adventure Tiger.

Oh, say, have you
seen Daniel Tiger?

I have something for him.

(GIGGLING) It's me, Grandpere.

I'm Daniel.

Oh-ho-ho!

Oh, well, that's good
because, Daniel, I

have something to show you.

These--

[GASP]

--are baby dolls.

One is for Margaret,
and one is for you.

For me?

Thanks, Grandpere.

He's really cute.

Come here, baby.

There you go.

Aw!

- Don't forget to burp him.
- Oh!

Right.

Pat, pat, pat.
Burp!

Whoa!

Big burp, baby.

I really like my
baby doll, Grandpere.

Where did you get it?

I made it.

[GASP]

You made it?

I didn't know you
could make dolls.

Why, yes.

I'm a doll maker.

But I-- I thought
you were a sailor.

(LAUGHING) I am.

I'm a doll maker and a
sailor and a grandpere.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

Thanks for my doll, Grandpere.

I love it.

You're so welcome, Daniel.

Daniel, it's time to
go to the Treehouse.

And I get to take you there.

Can I take my new doll?

I want to show my friends.

Of course.

Mmm, have fun, my big tiger.

I will, Mom.

Hi, Trolley.

[TROLLEY CHIMES]

Grandpere made me a doll.

Trolley, can you take us
to the Treehouse, please?

[TROLLEY CHIMES]

This is Trolley, baby.

Trolley takes us all
around the neighborhood

and goes, ding ding!

[TROLLEY CHIMES]

We're here.

Thanks, Trolley!

Baby, this is Katerina
and O's Treehouse.

It's pretty grr-ific.

Hello, Daniel.

Come on up, meow meow.

Bye, Daniel.

I'll be back to pick
you up a little later.

OK?

OK, Grandpere.

Ugga mugga.

Come on.

Let's go play.

Hi, O. Hi, Katerina.
[GASP]

Daniel, meow meow!

I'm Super Katerina Ballerina.

I'm a ballerina,
and I help people.

And I'm Super O the Librarian.

I bring books for
everyone to read, hoo hoo!

Daniel, you can be Tigey
the Adventure Tiger, like you

always are, and save the day.

Yes, hoo hoo.

Tigey the Adventure Tiger.

- No, thanks.
- No?

What?

I don't want to be Tigey
the Adventure Tiger right now.

You don't?

Why not, meow meow?

I have a new baby doll, see?

My grandpere made it for me.

So today I want to be a daddy.

I'll take care of you, baby.

OK?

But you're always Tigey
the Adventure Tiger,

meow meow, not a daddy.

Don't you want to be Tigey
the Adventure Tiger, hoo hoo?

No, I want to be the daddy.

No, meow meow, not a daddy.

You-- you need to be
Tigey the Adventure Tiger.

But-- but I don't
want to be Tigey

the Adventure Tiger right now.

Grr!

I hear loud voices.

What's going on?

Katerina and O want me to
be Tigey the Adventure Tiger,

but-- but I want
to be the daddy.

He's always Tigey
the Adventure Tiger.

Always.

Well, that may
be true, meow meow.

But today Daniel wants
to be something else.

(SINGING) You can be
more than one thing.

But hoo hoo, how could
he be something else?

Lots of people are
different things, even me.

I'm a mommy, and I'm
also a dance teacher.

You can be different things too.

Oh, like sometimes
I'm a super ballerina,

but sometimes I
pretend to be a mommy.

ALL: (SINGING) You can
be more than one thing.

So I'll be a daddy today.

OK, Daniel.

You be the daddy, hoo hoo.

Oh, let's play family.

Great.

Have fun, meow meow.

Grr-ific!

Come here, baby.

Time for your nap.

Waah!

Shh, shh, shh.

It's OK.

Daniel, look.

I'm a daddy too.

I also have a baby.

Can he play with your baby?

Sure.

He's not sleepy anyway.

[GIGGLING]

OK, baby.

O is going to read
a book to you.

O always reads books.

Um, owls are
excellent readers,

but I think I'm going
to sing you a song.

[CLEARING THROAT]

(SINGING) Go to sleep, babies.

Close your eyes and go to sleep.

I'm a mommy with
a baby, meow meow.

Now we all have babies.

So many babies.

Hey, do you want to
make-believe with me?

Let's make-believe
that we can take care

of lots and lots of babies.

[MUSIC PLAYING]

(SINGING) Babies,
so many babies.

They have tiny
hands and tiny feet.

Babies, so many babies.

Ga ga!

Cute baby giggles
that are so sweet.

He he he!

Silly baby faces
and baby sounds too.

Babies love playing peek-a-boo.

Babies, so many babies,
give sweet baby hugs.

Wasn't that grr-ific?

Shh!

Daniel, our babies are sleeping.

Night-night, babies.

Should we play something else?

But I want to
keep playing family.

We can still play.

I'm still the daddy.

I want to be the grandpa now.

I'm Grandpa Owl.

And now I want to be--

oh, the baby!

Ga ga!

Katerina, hoo hoo, you
need to be the mommy.

You're always the mommy.

No, meow meow.

Sometimes I want
to be the mommy,

but sometimes I
want to be the baby.

I like to be different things.

ALL: (SINGING) You can
be more than one thing.

If you want to be
the baby, you can be.

OK, O?

Uh, OK.

Here's Grandpa.

Where's my little grandbaby?

Here I am.
Oh!

I mean, goo goo ga ga.

Such a cute grandbaby.

Hoo hoo.

OK, baby.

Daddy says it's time to
go to the doctor's office

for a checkup.

Here we are at the
doctor's office.

Hello.

I'm the nurse.

Let's give your baby a checkup.

The nurse?

Um, I thought you
were the grandpa.

I'm a grandpa and a nurse.

I have to look in baby's ears.

They look good.

And now her eyes.

Hoo hoo, her eyes look good too.

Your baby looks healthy.

Thanks Nurse Grandpa Owl.

[GIGGLING]

[MUSIC PLAYING]

(SINGING) I can be so many
things to so many people.

To my father I'm a son.

To my grandpere I'm a grandson.

To my sister I'm a brother.

And I'm a neighbor and
friend to everyone.

All the different
things that I can be,

that's what makes me me.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

I can be so many
things in my imagination,

an adventure tiger or a dad.

I might be a famous painter
or sail the seven seas

or be a doctor or a fireman.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

You can be, you can be, you
can be more than one thing.

O, our babies are awake now.

Goo goo!

I like pretending to be
lots of things, meow meow.

But now I think I
want to be me, hoo hoo.

What do you want to be?

Remember, you can be
more than one thing.

I like to be your
neighbor and your friend.

Ugga mugga.

[MUSIC - "IT'S SUCH A GOOD
FEELING"]

(SINGING) It's such
a good feeling to play

with family and friends.

It's such a happy feeling
when they lend you a hand.

You wake up ready
to say, I think

I'll make a snappy new day.

It's such a good feeling, a
very good feeling, the feeling

you know--

--that I'll be back
when the day is new.

And I'll have more
ideas for you.

And you'll have things
you'll want to talk about.

I will too.

Because it's you I like.

Let's spend some time
with one of our neighbors.

Hi.
I'm Lucas.

And today I'm visiting
a fire station.

Hi, I'm Firefighter Lisa.

And I'm going to
show you around.

This is where we have
our turnout gear.

This is what we wear to
protect us from a fire.

And this is my firefighter
protective gear.

This is my helmet,
and this is my coat.

And these are my
pants and my boots.

See how quickly that was?

And Lucas, this is
the engine truck.

It carries gallons of water,
and it empties in five minutes.

This is our hose that we
connect to the fire hydrant.

It's really big, isn't it?

Mhm.

And it's heavy.

You want to feel it?

Yeah.

Whoa, isn't that heavy?

Mhm.

[LAUGHING]

OK, Lucas.

This is where the driver would
sit if we were going to a fire.

We would turn on
the ignition, which

would take us to the fire.

And then we would
need an air horn,

so we would have to push
the lever to the left.

And push the lever to the
right, which would be the siren.

[SIREN BLARES]

Thanks for coming to the
fire station with me, neighbor.

FIREFIGHTER LISA: Bye!

I like these visits with you.
