MARTIN:
Hey, we're here
in North America.

CHRIS:
On a northern coastline
of the Atlantic Ocean.

MARTIN:
On a rocky island
miles from shore.

It's us, the Kratt
Brothers. I'm Martin.

I'm Chris. And one of the first
things you notice out here

is that there are
a lot of seabirds.

But the seabird we're
looking for is a little shy.

And some of those birds are the
bird we're looking for: Puffins.

Oh, yeah. Right there!

They're the ones b*ating
their wings so fast.

But those puffins...
(Making propeller noise)

...they are moving. Wow.

To see them on the ground
is a lot trickier

because they are shy,
a little timid.

But we've got an answer.

We're going to go
into this blind,

where the puffins can't see us,

so we can observe
their natural behavior.

And we'll see if we can get some
clues to their Creature Power.

CHRIS:
Oh, right on that rock.

MARTIN:
I love these guys.
What a great bird.

Colorful beak.
Their eyes are funny, huh?

I mean they're almost
like triangles.

It's really a neat bird.

CHRIS:
Oh, whoa!
Coming straight towards us.

MARTIN:
Awesome.

Funny little bodies.
There's something about

the way they walk,
it's just hilarious.

But they're pretty good at
hopping around these rocks.

Oh, coming in with fish.
Right over there.

MARTIN:
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Oh, he's got fish in his beak.

It's amazing how they can fit

more than one fish
in their beak at one time.

It could be , fish
at one time in the beak.

MARTIN:
And a puffin has been
seen to be carrying

fish in his beak.
That's the world record.

So, how does a puffin carry
so many fish in his beak?

Imagine if we could figure out

what makes puffins
such great fish catchers.

Imagine if we had puffin powers
and could fish like a puffin.

What if?
What if?

That's how the puffin
carries food back...

in his beak!

Increible!
How many does he have?

MARTIN:
, , !

AVIVA:
Why does he have to
carry so many fish?

MARTIN:
To bring food for his mate
who stays with the chicks

and to feed
the chicks themselves.

to creature adventuring!

And it was real fun
adventuring with you, Puffo.

You're one amazing
little seabird.

ALL:
Bye, Puffo!

MARTIN:
Thanks for
all your help, buddy!

There are puffins on the roof.

They're so close to us,
but we can't see them.

MARTIN:
This is great. Right in
the middle of a puffin colony.

And a lot of action now too.

Whoa! Flap those wings.

CHRIS:
Oh, they love
to exercise those wings,

flapping them before take-off,

getting the muscles ready
for the long hours at sea.

MARTIN:
Whoa. We are so lucky to be
seeing puffins like this,

because these
are truly seabirds.

Puffins spend ten months of
the year, out on the waves,

far far out at sea.

They only come to land--
a rocky island like this--

for two months of each year,

and simply to lay eggs
and raise chicks,

and then back to sea full-time.

Look, that one's coming out
of a burrow in the rocks.

CHRIS:
Puffin parents are watchful.

One always stays behind
to take care of the chicks.

MARTIN:
Oh, nice hop.

Puffins, you got to love
these colorful, beaked birds.

CHRIS:
So, the puffin
is a great example

of a type of seabird.

A seabird is a type of bird

that makes its living
on and around the ocean.

MARTIN:
And they come in all sorts
of shapes and sizes.

CHRIS:
With lots of different
behaviors and adaptations.

And they all have
different ways

of getting their
food from the sea,

which is why there are so many
awesome kinds of seabirds.

Seagulls are one of
the most successful groups

of birds living on the sea.
They're everywhere.

And that means they must have
some pretty awesome

Creature Powers,
that they could survive

all around the world,
in all sorts of habitats.

They're adaptable,
they're smart

and they have all sorts
of tricks for survival.

CHRIS:
Take pelicans.
They're really spectacular

with their dive bombing style

and scooping up fish with that
special pouch under their beak.

MARTIN:
And of course,
one of our favorites

will always be the puffin.

No doubt about it,

there are a lot of
seafaring birds out there.

And that means there are a lot
more explorations for us to have

and more Creature Powers
to discover.

Keep on
creature adventuring.
