It's time to fly to Dragon Land.

[All talking and laughing]

Quetzal: I must go back topreparing tomorrow's lesson.

Cassie: Will you help mepass these out, Emmy?

Emmy: Definitely.

Wheezie: Ooh! Noisemakers!My favorite.

Zak: No surprise there.

[Blows noisemaker]

[Noisemakers creatinganimal noises]

[Sighs]

Ord: What's the matter, Enrique?

Did your blower stop working?

Enrique: No. These remind me

of the tiny whistleswe used to hide

in the frosting ofbirthday cakes back in Colombia.

Emmy: Why did you do that?

Enrique: Heh. Because it wasso much fun to pull them out

and lick the gooey frostingoff the whistles.

[All laugh]Cassie: All right!

Ord: That sounds fun...Wheezie: ♪ Love it! ♪

Zak: Sounds messy to me.

Enrique: Hey, is that a piñata?

Cassie: Well, it does kind oflook like one.

Ord: But we use it to play

another really funbirthday game.

Ord and Max: Pin the badgeon the dragon.

Cassie: Each of usgets one of these.

Max: And you have to tryto put it on the dragon's neck.

Ord: Like a dragon badge.

Zak: But the trick isyou have to do it all...

Wheezie: Blindfolded!

Emmy: Whoever gets the closestis the winner.

Max: Want to play?Enrique: Sure.

Ord: Oh! Oh! Oh!Can I go first, huh?

Cassie: It's Enrique'sbirthday, Ord.

Maybe he should be the first.

Enrique: That's OK, Cassie.You can go first, Ord.

Ord: Oh, goody! Thanks, Enrique.

Wheezie: Ready, Freddy?

Emmy: Come on, Ord!

[Kids and dragons cheering]

Zak: All right, Ord! Keep going!

Keep going!

[Laughter]

Emmy: Go, Ord!Max: Oops.

Ord: How'd I do?How'd I do?

[Laughter]

Max: Hee hee! Now the dragonbadge is a dragon shoe, Ord.

[Ord laughs]

Cassie:Now it's your turn, Enrique.

Ord: Come on, Enrique.You can do it. Keep going.

Keep going! Ha ha![Others speaking excitedly]

[Ord laughs]Ord: Wow!

Max: Hee hee!Now it's a belly badge.

[Enrique laughs]

Cassie: Don't you likeyour party, Enrique?

Enrique: Claro que sí, Cassie.

It's really nice of everyoneto do all this for me.

It's just that I'm actuallyfeeling kind of sad.

Ord: Sad? On your birthday?

Wheezie: See? I told you

we should've blown upmore balloons.

Zak: It's not my fault I don'thave as much hot air as you.

Enrique: Zak, Wheezie,the balloons are fantasticas.

I guess it's just...

I miss the parties we used tohave back in Colombia.

Cassie: Hmm.

What do you miss aboutthose parties, Enrique?

Emmy: Because maybe talkingabout what you miss

will help you not feel so sad.

Enrique: Well, my friendsand family would get together,

and we'd celebrate,

with music and gamesand all kinds of food.

Wheezie: Ooh! Like a fiesta!

Fiestas are so...festive!

Enrique: Sometimeswe'd play the stereo

and the grown-upswould hand out instruments,

like guiros or maracas,

and we'd dance alongwith the music.

Ohh, I sure miss those parties.

Zak: Are you thinkingwhat I'm thinking, Wheezie?

Wheezie: If you're thinking whatI'm thinking, Zakky.

Cassie: I'm thinking it, too.

Emmy: Definitely.

Ord: What's everyonethinking, Max?

Emmy: That we can make music

the way they didat Enrique's parties.

Wheezie: Something like this?

Enrique: That's great, Wheezie!

All we need noware some maracas,

and it'll bejust like back home.

Zak: Got any maracas in thatmessy pouch of yours, Wheezie?

Wheezie: Let's see. Hmm...

nope.

Oh! Been looking for that.



Uh-oh. No maracas.

Emmy: Maybe we can make some.

Cassie: That's a great idea,Emmy.

Max: Yeah!

Uh, how are we gonna do that?

Ord: I know.

Emmy: What's that?

Ord: Dragonpod seedsmake a really shaky sound

when they're inside my pouch...

just like maracas.

[Rhythmic rustling]

Max: Ha ha! We can't allshake your pouch, Ord.

Ord: Oh. Right. Ha ha.

[All laugh]

[Wheezie slurping]

Enrique: How aboutif we put the seeds

inside the emptyjuice boxes and shake them?

Cassie: Yeah!

Ord: That's a good idea,Enrique!

[Slurping]

Ord: Um...

[Rhythmic rustling]

It works! Listen to this.

Ord: That's great, Max!

Sounds as good as my pouch.

[Rhythmic rustling]

Wheezie: All right, everybody.

Let's maraca and roll!

Both: And a-uno and a-dos...

♪♪

[Music stops]

[All laughingand speaking excitedly]

Cassie: All right,Zak and Wheezie! Yeah! Ha ha!

Max: That sounded really cool.

Cassie: I love playingthe maracas.

Wheezie: Yeah! So do I! Ha ha!Ord: Me, too, Cassie. Yeah.

Enrique: Me, too.

It reminds me of my familyand friends in Colombia.

[Sighs]

Ord: Are you starting to feelsad again, Enrique?

Enrique: A little.

Wheezie: Well, then,

how's about we whip upsome more fiesta fun?

We can do the Dragon Land conga?

Zak: What do you say, Enrique?

Enrique: It sounds great,but maybe later.

Cassie: Enrique, sometimeswhen I feel sad,

I go talk with Quetzal.

He helps me figure outmy feelings.

Enrique: Maybe I should.

And--and everybody'strying so hard

to make me a nice party, and...

and I really appreciate it,

and I really want to have funand...

and make the sad feelinggo away,

but it keeps coming back.

Quetzal: I understand, Enrique.I, too, sometimes feel sad.

Enrique: You do?

Quetzal: Sí, Enrique,

and sometimes when I'm feelingespecially sad,

it seems as if there is onlyone thing that I want to do.

Enrique: What's that?Quetzal: Cry.

Perhaps that is the wayyou feel right now.

Enrique: I always heard thatboys...they don't...

they're not supposed to...

Quetzal: Ah.

They are not supposed to crybecause it is not macho.

Enrique: Sí.

Quetzal: There's no shamein crying, Enrique.

Trust me.

It can be a fine wayto let the sadness out.

Kids and dragons: Hi, Enrique.

Enrique: Hola, everyone.

Ord: Are you OK, Enrique?

You look likeyou've been crying.

Enrique: Sí, but it's OK.

Quetzal told me crying helps letthe sadness out,

and he was right.

Emmy: You do seemhappier now, Enrique.

Enrique: Sí, Emmy.

I still feel a little sad,

but mostly, I feel likeit's my birthday

and I want to have fun.

Max: Yay!Ord: Good idea, Enrique!

Enrique: So if youstill want to,

maybe we could dothe Dragon Land conga.

Ord: Oh, boy! Whoo-hoo!Wheezie: ♪ Love it! ♪

[Rhythmic shaking]

All: ♪ Feliz cumpleaños ♪

Enrique: I don't feel sadanymore, Quetzal.

Quetzal: Que bueno, Enrique.

[Laughter and cheering]

Kids: I wish, I wishto use this rhyme

to go back home until next time.

Enrique: Muchas graciaspor todo, Max and Emmy.

Emmy: You're welcome, Enrique.

Max: De nada.

Enrique: You know, my papá saidthere'd be birthday cake

when he got home from work.

You want to come over?

Emmy: Cake?Max: Yeah!

Emmy: Are there gonna betiny whistles in the frosting?

Enrique: You bet!

Max: I want to lickthe frosting off.

Enrique: Me, too.

Emmy: Me three!

Emmy: Hurry, Max.

I'm ready.

Max: Found them.

I wonder why Quetzal asked us tobring our ice skates today.

Emmy: There's onlyone way to find out.

Both: I wish, I wishwith all my heart

Ord: Quetzal said Maxand Emmy are coming today.

Cassie: I can't wait to seethem!

Max: You don't have to wait.Ord: Yay! You're here!

Quetzal: Hola, niños.I'm glad you could make it.

Kids and young dragons:Hi, Quetzal.

Ord: We brought our skates.

Max: Will you tell usthe surprise now?

Emmy: Please?Quetzal: Sí.

In fact, I would like all of youto be the surprise.

Ord: Wow. That's great.

That's really--uh, how can Ibe a surprise?

Quetzal: Today is the birthday

of my good friendWillie the snow seal.

I would like to surprise himwith a birthday song.

Will you all help me?Cassie: Sure!

Max: OK.Emmy: Definitely.

Ord: Sure.Max: But why do we need

ice skates to sing a song?

Quetzal: Willie livesin an icy cave in Frosty Falls.

Cassie: I know where that is.

Quetzal: It's on the edge ofa pond

that is always frozen solid,

so it's safe to skate on.

The floor of Willie's cave isalways covered with ice, too.

Max: A house you can skate in?Cool!

Quetzal: I must finishdecorating his birthday cake,

so I will meet you there.

Cassie: Maybe Zak and Wheeziecould help make the music

for our song.

Quetzal: That's a wonderfulidea, Cassie.

Would you ask them for me?

Cassie: Sure. Come on, everyone.

Emmy: Bye, Quetzal.Cassie: See you later.

Max: Bye!Ord: See you!

Zak: Quetzal wants us to skateinto a freezing cave and sing?

Wheezie: Ooh! Oh, boy!

I'll bring my harmonicaand tambourine and--

Zak: Uh, aren't you forgettingsomething?

Wheezie: You're right. My horn.

[Plays "If You're Happy and YouKnow it [Clap Your Hands]"]

Now we can do some rootin',hootin' birthday tootin'.

Zak: I mean, aren't youforgetting that we

don't know how to ice-skate?

Wheezie: Oh, that.

Emmy: Well, then comewith us, and we'll teach you.

Wheezie: Works for me.Zak: Well, wait a minute.

Riding around on slippery iceon those funny-looking shoes?

Sounds dangerous.

Ord: It's not really, but justin case, we all wear kneepads.

Hee hee. Yeah.

Cassie: And we'llall skate slowly

because we'restill learning, too.

Wheezie: Come on, Zakky.

♪ Please? ♪

Zak: Oh. All right, but don'texpect me to like it.

Cassie: There's Frosty Falls.

Max: And there's the frozenpond, just like Quetzal said.

[Laughter]

Dragon: Come on. Come on...

Wheezie: Ooh, ooh!Skating looks like fun.

Zak: Well, it looks painfulto me.

Ord: Don't forget your kneepads.

Zak: No chance of that.

How do I know it's safe?

Wheezie: Remember, Zak,Quetzal said

this pond is alwaysfrozen solid.

Ready?Zak: Ehh...

Wheezie: Set?Zak: Go!

Wheezie: We're skating.We're skating!

Zak: We're falling!We're falling!

Wheezie: Ah!

♪ Love it! ♪

Cassie: Are you all right?

Wheezie: We're fine.

Zak: Except we obviouslycan't ice-skate.

Our feet are too wobbly.

Emmy: Wobbly? Hmm.

That's probably because yourskate laces are too loose.

My daddy says to lace themtightly

so the skates feel snugon your ankles.

Zak: That's much better.

Wheezie: Not so wobbly-bobbly.

Wheezie: Wow! Let's do that.Come on.

Zak: Wheezie, we're goingtoo fast.

Wheezie: Whoa. Whoa. Ha ha!Zak: Agh.

Wheezie: Ow.Zak: Oof.

Wheezie: Ooh, I bumped my elbow.

Zak: Are you all right, Wheezie?Wheezie: Hmm, it'll be OK.

Emmy: I think maybe you shouldtry skating more slowly.

Zak: I think maybewe should just quit.

Ord: Don't give up.Everybody falls.

Max: It's part of the learning,

and it's part of the fun.

Zak: I don't think it's much funto have a cold tummy.

Wheezie: And an ouchie elbow.

Emmy: Why don't you try again,

but this time we'll show yousome of the ways

we learned to skate?

The first thing you haveto learn is how to fall.

Zak: We're already good at that.

Emmy: Yeah, but there'sa safer way.

If you feel like you're aboutto fall,

try to fall backwardson your bottom.

Wheezie: Hmm, maybe I won't bumpmy elbow again

if we fall like that.

Max: Now let me show yousomething.

My daddy taught me to startlike this.

Step, step, slide.

Zak: Step, step, step.

Wheezie: Slide.

All: Step, step, step,

slide.

Zak: Hey, this is fun.This is...

[Both gasp]

...pointless.

Wheezie: Maybe Zak's right.Ice-skating is awfully hard.

Emmy: I'm sure you twowill learn if you keep trying.

Cassie: And if you give up,you won't be able

to skate into the cave with us

and make musicfor Willie's birthday song.

Zak: I suppose we couldgive it another try.

Wheezie: Step, step, step.

Zak: Slide.

Ord: You know, sometimes Ihold onto the branches

around the pond to help mekeep my balance.

Zak: Gah.

Ord: Here. I'll show you.

[Ord moans]

Whoa. Yow.

Hee hee. I guess I need helpbalancing, too. Ha ha. Huh?

Wheezie: Let's try it Ord's way,Zakky.

Zak: Hey, this is a big help.Thanks, Ord.

Emmy: Zak, Wheezie, you're doingreally well.

Both: Step, step, step, slide.

Wheezie: Why areyou letting go, Zak?

Zak: I don't think we need tohold on all the time.

Wheezie: Zak, you're right.

Uh-oh.

Cassie: You stoppedyourself from falling. Good job.

[Max laughs]

Max: Ord, you sloshed uswith snow.

Ord: I did? Sorry, guys.

[Laughter]

Emmy: Hey, everybody, look.

That must be whereWillie the snow seal lives.

Emmy and Max: Wow.Cassie: Neat!

Ord: Cool cave.Zak: Cool!

Ord: It's not the least bitdark, so I won't be afraid.

Zak: Well, I'm afraid becausethere aren't any branches

to help Wheezie and mekeep our balance.

Ord: Golly.

Emmy: Gosh.Cassie: Oh, dear.

Wheezie: I guess we won't beable to skate inside

and help with Willie'sbirthday song.

Zak: Wheezie, maybeif we practice some more,

we could learn to balancewithout holding onto anything.

Wheezie: You think so?

Cassie: I can show yousomething that might help.

I put my arms out on each side,

and that helps mekeep my balance.

Whoa!

Zak: That might be worth a try.

Wheezie: Step, step, step,slide.

Wheezie: We didn't fall!

Zak: Whoa!Wheezie: Oof.

Emmy: That was great.You balanced for a long time.

Zak: Come on, Wheezie.We get better every time we try.

Wheezie: You think hestarted out this way?

Emmy: Definitely. Hee hee!

I bet he ended up this waya lot, too.

Zak: I think I might be readyto skate into that cave.

How about you, Wheezie?

Wheezie: I think so.

No, I know so!

Cassie: Great!Emmy: Terrific.

Ord: Let's go!

Cassie: This is the prettiestcave I've ever seen.

Ord: And the funniest. Hee hee!

Wheezie: Look at us, Zak.We're really skating!

Zak: Ha ha ha! Lots and lots ofus are skating.

Wheezie: ♪ Love it! ♪

Quetzal: Perfect timing, niños.

Now let's go surprise Willie.

[Ding-dong, ding-dong]

Willie: Hello. Who's there?

Quetzal: Happy birthday!Feliz cumpleaños.

Willie: Quetzal, how nice of youto skate by on my birthday.

Quetzal: And I broughtsome friends.

This is Ord, Cassie, Emmy, Max,Wheezie, and Zak.

Max and Cassie: Hi!Emmy: Oh, hi!

Ord: Nice to meet you.Wheezie: Happy to meet you.

Willie: Nice to meet you all.Please come in.

Quetzal: Willie, we havea surprise for you.
