04x20 - Wings 'N' Things

Post by bunniefuu »

male narrator: It seems like
an uneventful day

as we join our friends
on the long road to Johto,

but something's in the air.

- Pi?
Pika!

- What's that?

- Ha!
It's a Yanma.

- Let's see.

- Yanma,
the Clear Wing Pokémon.

Through the use of
its two large eyes,

Yanma can see in all
directions at once.

- [chuckles]

- Yanma must be able to see

what's happening around it
all the time.

- That comes in handy
when it's looking for food

and for enemies.

- Yanma.

Yanma.

Yanma.

- Pika!

- Yanma! Hey!
Come back!

Yanma!
Give me my hat back!

- Yanma!

- Yanma!

- [singing]
Pokémon, Pokémon, Pokémon

- Let's do it.

I wanna be the very best

Like no one ever was

Ever was, ever was

To catch them is my real test

To train them is my cause

My whole life has led to this

Time to test my skills

I know I just can't miss

Gonna show the world

Born to be a winner

- Johto

- Born to be a champion

Born to be a winner

Born to be the very best

- Pokémon
- Johto

- Born to be a winner

Pokémon

- Come back here!

- Give me my hat!

- Come down, Yanma!

- Yanma.

- I told you not to fly off
like that before.

- Yanma.

- Yanma, no.
- Yanma.

- You're not going anywhere
till you drop that hat.

- Your Yanma
grabbed my hat away.

- I know.
I'm real sorry.

Well, Hi.
My name's Zachary Evans.

I apologize for my Yanma

but I can't seem to stop it
from causing trouble.

No!

Yanma, wait!
Come back!

Yanma!

Maybe...

Yanma, return!

- Yanma.

- Yanma, return!

I just don't understand
why you never listen to me.

Yanma!

- Ooh.

- Oh, no, it's a Yanma.

Look out, everybody!
It's a Yanma!

- What's going on?

- Everything's locked up
in the middle of the day.

- It's like a ghost town.

- Yanma.

- Yanma, wait, don't move.
Stay right there.

- Yanma.

- Yanma, stop beating
your wings.

- Yanma.

- My window.

- Please, Yanma!
Stop!

- My store!
Stop it!

- What's it doing?

- Maybe Dexter knows.

- Pika.

- Yanma is capable
of beating its wings

at a high rate of speed,

generating
a powerful shockwave

strong enough to shatter glass.

[all gasp]

- Yanma, return.

- Yanma.

- Oh, Yanma,
why do you cause trouble?

- Zachary, that Yanma
of yours

broke my windows again.

- I'm sorry, Mr. Strussel.

I keep telling Yanma not
to flap its wings so fast,

but it just won't listen.

- I'm tired of
your excuses Zachary.

We're going to see
what your father

has to say about this.

- I'm sorry.
Really, I am.

- This is unbelievable
that Yanma's dangerous.

- Pikachu.

- I think we better
follow 'em.

- Yeah.

- I'm very sorry
this happened, Mr. Strussel.

I know my son's very
sorry too.

Tell Mr. Strussel you're sorry
again, Zachary.

- Sorry again.

- That's what he said
the last time

his Yanma broke my windows

and the time
before that too.

- I'm sorry, Mr. Strussel.

I'll replace
your windows again.

- I guess Zachary's father
must own this glass factory.

- Pika.

- The problem isn't windows,
Mr. Evans.

The problem
is your son's Yanma.

You should get rid of it.

- I apologize.
- I'm real sorry.

- Zachary, I'm beginning
to think

that Mr. Strussel's idea
is a very good one.

- Please, Dad, trust me.

I'm trying the best I can
to train Yanma

so it'll stop breaking
everybody's windows--

honest, I am.

- Well, it just
isn't working.

- Oh.

- I have nothing
against Pokémon, son,

but that Yanma of yours
is nothing but trouble.

It breaks the glass in
our shop

and it breaks our
customer's glass too.

If this goes on much longer,
I'll be out of business.

I don't care what you do
with it, Zachary,

but I want you to get rid
of that Yanma today.

- But I--
- No "buts."

- Yes, sir.

- I don't see how he can
expect you to just throw away

your favorite Pokémon.

- But what else can
Zach's Dad do, Ash?

- Yeah.

- If your dad was in some
other kind of business,

maybe it wouldn't seem so bad.

- But he makes
glass and windows.

- Why'd you pick a Yanma
to begin with?

- It happened
a few months ago

when there was this
really bad rainstorm.

That day, I was helping my dad
deliver some glass

to a town a couple
of miles from here.

We were on our way back home
when I saw something.

Huh?

Hey, what's wrong?
Are you okay?

Yanma was soaked from the rain,

and it was in really bad shape.

So my dad and I wrapped it up
the best we could

and took it home.

After I got it warmed up
a little,

I dried Yanma's wings
with a hair dryer.

Pretty soon Yanma
was good as new.

- Yanma.

- Hey, Yanma!

- Yanma.
- [laughs]

And that's all it took
to tame Yanma.

But even though Yanma
was easy to tame,

it's a born troublemaker.

As soon as it got better,

Yanma broke all the glass
in my father's factory,

and Dad told me
to get rid of Yanma.

Maybe I should've.

- Yanma was your friend.

- Right.
- I can understand that.

- Yeah me too.

- I convinced my dad
to let me try to train Yanma

to stop making shockwaves.

Now listen up, Yanma.

You can't beat your wings
too fast.

- Yanma.
- Understand?

- Yanma.
- No, Yanma.

You're not listening.

- Yanma.

- Wait, Yanma, come back here!

- Yanma!

- Well, I tried my best,

but I guess it wasn't
good enough.

- It's too bad
there's nothing you can do.

- I guess it's
a long shot,

but it might help if you,
your dad, and Yanma

moved someplace else.

- They'd still have
the same problem.

- Maybe they could replace
all the windows here

with plastic.

- Then he'd go
out of business.

- It's too late.

I don't have any choice
but to let Yanma go.

[together] Huh?

- Yanma will do just fine
on its own.

I'll miss my friend,
but a window maker's son

isn't meant to be
a Yanma trainer.

- Guess you're right.

[both groan]

- I choose you, Yanma.

- Yanma.

- I have to say good-bye, Yanma.

- Yan.

- Here, I brought you
a little snack, Yanma.

- Yan.
- It's your favorite.

- Yan.

- Well, you're a lot stronger
than when I found you.

You'll be just fine.

- Yanma.

- I got to go.

Bye, Yanma.

[cries]

- Zach, wait.

- Yanma.

Ah!

- Zach.

- Are you sure you
want to do this, Zach?

- Do you really think

you should leave your Yanma
for good?

- I don't want to,
but if I keep Yanma,

it'll only cause trouble
for my dad

and all the people
in the town.

I don't know what
to do anymore.

[crying]

All I know is...

Hey, Yanma!

- Yanma.

- Yanma's my friend.

I can't leave Yanma.

Yanma!

- Zachary!
- Zach, wait!

- It's gone.
Yanma's gone.

Yanma!

Yanma?

What should I do?

[cries] My friend Yanma
flew away.

Settle down, Zach.
Take it easy.

- Yeah, we'll help you
look for Yanma.

- Don't worry, Zach.

We won't give up
'til we find it.

- Pika, Pika.

- Well, do you see
the twerps?

- Or Pikachu?

- Nothing.

But I do see...

- Yanma. Yanma.
Yanma.

Yanma.

- What's that?

- I'm not sure.

- That there's a Yanma.

- A Yanma?

- Yanma.

- We got you.

- We caught a YoYo.

- It's called a Yanma.

- Don't contradict me.

- Yanma.

- I have a poem.

If you added wings
to Caterpie,

it would look
just like a Yanma, see?

- Jessie, I think
you may have

an honest-to-goodness talent.

- Yeah, but not for poetry.

- Yanma.

- Come back here.

- Yanma.

[groaning]

- Hey, what was that?

- Let me see.

It says here that
"Yanma can flap its wings

"fast enough to generate
a shockwave

capable of shattering windows."

- Windows?
I know.

- Know what?

- If we can make Yanma
smash some windows,

I know how we can make cash
from windows.

- Huh?

- Maybe Jessie's a poet
after all.

- Who's that Pokémon?

It's Jigglypuff!

- Well, let's give them
window breaking wings of yours

a workout.

- Yanma.
- Let's go!

- Yanma! Yanma!

- [laughing]

- Huh?

- Yanma. Yanma.

- Ah!
Not again!

- Well, every window in town
has to be replaced.

- What can we do?

both:
Your attention please.

We're from the Glaze-Over
Glass Company.

- Makers of the world's
greatest grandest

glistening glass.

- Whoa.
How lucky are we?

- Wobbuffet.

- Ignore Wobbuffet.
It's just window dressing.

And speaking of windows,

we've got the best
money can buy.

- And right now we're conducting
an extra-special sale.

- Could you replace my broken
store windows for me?

- Only with the most
exquisite glass ever.

- Ah...

- I've never seen
such beautiful glass.

- Neither have I, but why would
do you keep glass

in an ice cream wagon?

both: Uh...

- That's because we're so proud

of having such
cool-looking glass.

- And we specialize
in frosted window panes.

- Makes sense, I guess.

- That's the kind of glass
I want in my windows.

- Mine too.
- And mine too.

both: Whatever you say.

[both laugh]

- [laughing]

- What a success.

- It's like having
a money machine.

- This Yanma scam's the best
one we ever pulled, guys.

- You smash the windows, and
we come along selling glass.

- Not glass.

It only looks like glass.

- That's cold.

- We sell sheets of ice

and walk away
with cold hard cash.

- We just keep
our assets frozen.

- And by the time they realize

they've bought ice instead
of glass,

Team Rocket
has slipped away.

- We've finally found
the perfect profit plan.

No!
- Yanma.

- You're not here to eat.
You're here to work.

Mmm.
Tasty.

- Yanma.

- Dinner time.

Here you go, Yanma.

- Yanma.

- You can have seconds
if you want to.

- Yanma.

- Yanma!

- Yanma!
- Where are you?

- Nothing at all.

- I know, and now we're even
separated from Zachary.

- Pika, Pika!

- Zachary!

Hey, guys, look.

It's a Pokémon Center.

- Maybe Nurse Joy
can help us find 'em.

Nurse Joy.
- Huh?

- Look, guys,
it's Zachary's dad.

- Ah, I know you.

You're the kids
who were with Zach.

- Oh.

Excuse me.

Have you seen my Yanma
anywhere?

Has--has my Yanma
been here?

- Cut the innocent act,
Zachary.

- Huh?
- I'm on to you.

"Special glass".

They were just
sheets of ice.

- After your Yanma shattered
all our windows,

two con artists came by
selling fake glass.

- And you were part
of their scam operation.

- Me?
But I wouldn't--

- Save your excuses.

You'll need 'em when we get
to your father.

- But I didn't do anything.

- They're beautiful.

- Mr. Evans is a master at
making stained glass windows.

- That's very nice of you
to say, Nurse Joy.

It takes me
quite a long time

to make one of these
stained glass windows,

and I'm very proud of them.

One of the reasons I got
so upset at Zach

was because I was afraid his
Yanma

was going to shatter
the stained glass windows too.

- I can understand that.

- I know Zach loves
that Yanma,

and I hated to make him get rid
of it,

but I can't let Yanma put
the whole town in danger.

- You did the right thing,
Mr. Evans.

I've had problems
with Yanma too.

Zach brought it here once,

and it shattered every one
of my medicine bottles.

It's hard to start off
with a Yanma

as your first Pokémon,
especially for young trainers.

I know he tries,
but they're very difficult.

- Yeah.
- Hey, Evans!

- Huh?

- Zachary.

- Your kid and his Yanma's
been smashing windows again.

- What?
Is this true?

- And what's worse is, he
teamed up with two fakes

who sold everybody sheets
of ice and said it was glass.

- I told you I don't
know who they are.

- This sounds
kind of fishy to me.

- Bet I know
who really did this.

[laughter]

- Pika!

- Come on, Yanma baby.
Full flap ahead.

- Yanma.

- Meowth and Victreebel.

- And Yanma.

- Hello.

- Glaze-Over Glass Company:
we make glass look smashing.

- Hey, there are
those two phonies!

- Hey, guys, I can't control
this thing.

- So you were the
ones who broke our windows

in the first place.

- Who are you two anyway?

- Ah.

- We don't sell glass,
so prepare for trouble.

- But we've got class,
and make that double.

- To protect the world
from devastation.

- To unite all peoples
within our nation.

- To denounce the evils
of truth and love.

- To extend our reach
to the stars above.

- Jessie.
- James.

- Team Rocket, blast off
at the speed of light.

- Surrender now or prepare
to fight, fight, fight.

- Meowth, that's right.

- Give me back my Yanma.

- Yanma.

- No way!
- No how.

- Yanma's our vice president
in charge of new business.

- I choose you, Chikorita!

- Chiko

- I choose you, Poliwhirl!

- Poliwhirl.

- Well, if it's a battle
you little twerps want,

we'll choose Yanma.

- Wait, please.

If you battle here with Yanma,

this stained glass window
will be ruined, destroyed.

- And very lovely
stained glass it is.

- It'd be a shame
to smash it.

- So if you don't want
your pretty window wrecked,

I suggest you let us win
this battle, twerps.

- Hey.

- Please, Ash,
just do what they say.

- Uh.

- Arbok, Tackle Attack.

- Arbok.

- Chiko!

- Now follow up
with a Wrap Attack.

[all shouting]

- Good.
Tighter.

- Chikorita, use your--

- Not so fast, Twerpo.

Not unless you don't mind

Yanma wrecking that pretty
glass window.

- I got to try
and stop 'em.

- Yanma.

- Hey, I know.

Zachary, try to get Yanma
back in its Pokéball.

- Really?

- Yeah, maybe it'll listen
to you now.

- It's worth a try.

- Okay, Yanma, return now!

- Yanma!

- Pika!

- Uh-oh.

- Victreebel,
go grab that Pokéball.

[Victreebel screaming]

- Zachary, look out!

- Pikachu!
- That's my Yanma!

- Ah!

- Zachary!

- I'm glad you're back,
Yanma,

real glad.

And I'm never gonna abandon
you again, Yanma.

- Zachary.

- Huh?

- You're in for it now.

Chikorita,
use your Vine Whip.

- Chiko!

- Arbok!

- Poliwhirl, use Water g*n.

- Poliwhirl.

- Victreebel, stop them
with your Razor Leaf!

- [screams]

- Chikorita.
- Poliwhirl.

- Zach, have you and Yanma
ever been in a battle?

- No, we never even tried.

- Well, you'll have to try now.

- What?

But, Dad, if we battle here,

we're gonna break your window.

- It's important for you
and Yanma to find out

if you can ever be a real team.

You're right the stained glass
will probably be destroyed.

I'll just make
another one.

- What kind of attacks
are you gonna use, Zachary?

- Let's see.

Maybe Dexter knows some.

- Two of Yanma's
strongest attacks

are the Tackle Double Team
and the Sonic Boom.

- Sonic Boom?

- Hey, I know
what that must be.

- It must be those
same shockwaves.

- Zachary, if you can teach
Yanma that those shockwaves

are really an attack,

maybe you can control
when they happen.

- Yanma, I choose you!

- Yanma!

- Yanma, use Sonic Boom!

- Yanma.

- Arbok.

- Now work on its aim.

- Yanma, focus on that Arbok!

- Yanma.

- Arbok!

- That's better.
Try again.

- Yanma, concentrate
even harder on that target.

- Yanma!

- Arbok!

- Victreebel, use your
Razor Leaf on Yanma!

- [screams]

- Yanma,
try Double Team Attack!

- Yanma!

- Oh, no!

- Chikorita.

- Poliwhirl!

- Yanma!

all:
Triple Tackle Attack.

[all shouting]

- It's the money
they cheated us out of.

[together] Ah!
We're blasting off again.

- Yanma, we did it!
- Yanma.

- You two make a great team,
Zach,

and if you keep practicing,

you'll have that Sonic Boom
down in no time.

- Thanks, Ash.
- Zachary.

- Huh?

- I apologize for accusing you
of cheating us.

Whenever you and Yanma
come by my shop,

I'll have a special treat
for both of you.

- Oh, thank you,
Mr. Strussel.

- Sounds good, right, Yanma?

- Yanma.

- There, it's finished.

[all exclaim]

narrator: Thanks to a little
help from Ash and company,

Zachary and his Yanma
are truly a team now.

The stained glass window
is safe and sound,

and our heroes admire
its beauty before moving on.

- Let's do it.

[singing]
