05x32 - Hocus Pokémon

Post by bunniefuu »

male narrator:
The twists and turns continue

for our heroes
as they make their way

toward Blackthorn City,

where Ash's eighth and final
gym battle awaits.

- Sure have been in these
mountains a long time.

- Yeah, you're right.

- Murkrow.
- Hmm?

- Is that a Murkrow?
- Pika?

- Murkrow. Murkrow.

- What's up?
- Murkrow!

- This Murkrow is trying
to tell us something.

- Hey!
- Huh?

- A cute little Pikachu.

This is so totally cool.
I finally found a Pikachu.

all:
Huh?

- Oh, you're such a sweet
little baby.

- Pika.
- Murkrow. Murkrow. Murkrow.

- Excuse us, but...

- Yeah, who are you?

- [laughs]

Oh, how rude. Sorry.

Name's Lily.
I'm a Pokémon magician.

all:
Pokémon magician?

[singing]
- Pokémon

- No time to question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

You'll never see us
run away from a fight

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe

I've got a chance to win

I'm on my way to victory

- Pokémon

- I can be a Champion

If I just believe

I'm on a Master Quest

Master Quest

I want the whole world to see

And I believe

I'm gonna be the very best

'Cause all I've got to do

Is believe in me

- Pokémon

- Murkrow. Murkrow.
Murkrow.

Murkrow. Murkrow. Murkrow.
Murkrow. Murkrow.

Murkrow.

- I'm so glad
I found this Pikachu.

I'm preparing a new trick
for my magic show,

and I need
a Pikachu's Thunderbolt.

But I'm sure you know
how hard it is

to find a Pikachu
when you need one.

Well, you can imagine how I was
getting to the end of my rope,

so I decided to try
a Pikachu-catching magic spell.

But in order to do that,
you need a lock of hair

from the mane of a Raichu.

But since they're also
so very hard to find,

I was at my wits' end.

- Uh, Lily?

- Huh?

- Hi. My name's Ash Ketchum.

About your--

- Well, my caped cutie,
they call me Brock.

It appears that one of those
magic tricks of yours

went somewhat awry.

Yeah, you now have me
under your spell.

- Uh, hi. I'm Misty.

Would you please show me
some of your magic, please?

- Of course, but why?

- Since I was little,

I've always wanted
to be a Pokémon magician.

I couldn't wait to go
to every magic show

as soon as it came to town.

- Well, how could I possibly
say no to that?

Sure. Just give me a sec.

See, Pokémon magic
is also a science as well.

It gets its power from things

involving Pokémon.

- Whoa. That's neat.

- Pika.

- So I guess you could say
you're both a scientist

and a magician.

- Toge.

- Wow, but as interesting
as all this sounds,

I don't think I've ever actually
met a Pokémon magician before.

- Well, I'm afraid
it's a dying art,

so that doesn't surprise me
one bit.

Now, let's take a look in here,
shall we?

- Huh?

I've never seen words
like that before.

What language is it?

- Pika.

- Well, it looks to me

like it's some sort
of ancient script.

- This book's been in my family
for centuries

and passed down
from generation to generation.

- No wonder I can't read it.

- So, Lily, that book tells you
how to perform Pokémon magic?

- Yup, that's right.

Ah, here we are.

Now, Misty,
how would you like

to have softer
and smoother skin?

- Wow, softer and smoother skin?

Yeah. Awesome.

I would just love that.

- Togepi.

[liquid bubbling]

- Earth dug up by a Dugtrio,

hair from a Flaaffy's neck,

and a pinch of dried scales
from a Magikarp.

Almost done. You ready?

- Wow, am I ever.

Using real Pokémon magic

to give me
a beautiful complexion.

- Let's go, Dugtrio.

Flaaffy, Flaaffy, Dugtrio,
make your magic now.

Let's go.

Now Magikarp, do your part.

- Huh?

- Pika, Pika?

- Togepi.

- Uh, what was that?

- Ah! I don't like this.

- Are you okay?

- Pikachu.
- Now I get it.

The spell is making the Spinarak
spin their webs.

Cool.
- Bingo.

And the type of silk
that they're spinning

is just brilliant
for Misty's skin.

- [groans]

I just hate bugs.

- There's magic that lets you
read a Pokémon's mind?

- Pikachu?
- Right.

But it's unfortunately a spell

that no one has ever
been able to cast.

There's always been
one step missing,

the final step, which involves
using a Pikachu's Thunderbolt.

- Imagine how much better
Pokémon and humans

would get along
if that spell were to happen.

- We'll help you out, Lily.

Just think, with your spell
and my Pikachu,

we could make it
actually work.

- Pika!

- How great. Thanks.

Let's see.

I have Shuckle's secret cure,

powdered Stantler horns,

yogurt that's been made
from a Miltank's milk,

a flower petal marked
with the kiss of a Jynx.

But that's as far
as I've gotten.

- That's a lot of stuff.
What else do you need?

- Toge?

- I need to get some Stun Spore
from a Parasect.

- Murkrow.
- What?

You found a Parasect?

- Murkrow.

- Great, let's go get it.

- Pika, Pika.

- Parasect. Parasect.

Parasect. Parasect.

- Well, that Parasect
really looks strong and healthy.

- Yes, I'm certain we'll get

some excellent Stun Spore
from it.

- Murkrow.

- Yeah, but how do you get
Stun Spore from a Parasect

in the first place?

- Toge.
- Ah. Leave it to me, Misty.

- Oh, really, Ash?
What's your plan?

- Easy.

I'll challenge it
to battle me

and get the Stun Spore
when I win.

Right, Pikachu?

- Pika.

- Parasect.

- Hey, Parasect.

Sorry, but I need
to challenge you to a battle.

Ready, Pikachu?

Pikachu, Thunderbolt.

Too much.
Maybe just a Thunderspark.

- Pika. Pikachu.

- Parasect. Parasect.

- Come on, Parasect.

Use your Stun Spore.

- Parasect. Parasect.

- Here it comes.

- Krow, Krow, Krow.
- Hey, what's the deal?

I wanted that Stun Spore.

- I don't think
that was Stun Spore, Ash.

- She's right.

You almost got
a snootful of Sleep Powder.

- Uh, Sleep Powder?

Ugh.

Okay, Pikachu,
another Thunderspark.

- Pika. Pi.

- Parasect. Parasect.

- That's it. That's it.

That's the Stun Spore.
Great.

- Yeah!

- Pikachu!

- Murkrow. Murkrow.
- Pika!

- Pikachu!

- Pika!

[all laughing]

all:
Team Rocket?

- Give Pikachu back!

- Prepare for trouble,
just because...

- Meowth's got Pikachu
by the paws.

- Meowth's so cute!

- Huh?

- This is too perfect,

finding a cute little Meowth
in the forest.

- Huh?
- Togepi.

- Ah, now, dear Meowth,

I need the dirt
from one of your claws.

Murkrow, go and get it.

- Krow!

- Not me, you birdbrain!

- I may be catty,
but I'm not Meowth.

- Get your paws
off my claws.

- You can do it.
You can do it.

Grab that dirt.
Now get down to it.

Go, Murkrow. Go, Murkrow.
Go!

- Murkrow. Murkrow. Murk...

[muffled scream]

Krow!

- Ah!

- Pika!

- Pikachu,
are you okay, little buddy?

- Pikachu.

[all screaming]

- Murkrow!

- Oh, no! That Meowth!

I've been waiting so long!

both:
Lily!

- Come on.
We'd better follow her.

- Pika! Pika!

- Now, hear this.

Just one misstepped step,
and we're mincemeat.

- And keep quiet.

If one of us yells too loud,
this thing could collapse.

- Thanks, James.

Your earsplitting warning
was a lifesaver.

- Wobbu.

all:
Huh?

- Why is it you always
choose to appear

at the most inopportune time?

[all screaming]

Let's all
just remain calm.

- If I never see you guys again,
just know that I love you.

- Wow, talk about
losing your cool.

- Wobbuffet!

- Murkrow.

- Go away! Go away!

- It's that Murkrow.

- Look at those guys.

- Whoa, it looks like
that cliff is going to collapse.

- Yeah, I think we'd better
approach this nice and easy.

- Yoo-hoo! Meowth!

all: Wait, Lily! No!
- Pika!

- I knew I'd find you,
Meowth.

all:
Ah! Stay away!

- A little dirt.

There we go.

Thanks,
you cute little Meowth.

This is great. Good-bye.

all: Team Rocket's
falling down again!

- Wobbu!

- Who's that Pokémon?

It's Dewgong.

- Dewgong!

- I've got the Stun Spore
from Parasect

and the dirt
from Meowth's claw.

Great.

- So do you need
anything else?

- Yes, there's only one item
remaining,

and that's the tears
from an Aipom.

- Tears from an Aipom?

- And once you have that,
you'll do your magic

and be able to read
a Pokémon's mind, right?

- That's right.

- Murkrow.

- So let's go find
an Aipom.

Hey, Aipom,
where are you?

Come on out now.

- Pika, Pika!

- Ash, now, really.

- You don't honestly think
an Aipom's

just gonna come
waltzing out.

all:
Huh?

- An Aipom.

- Aipom?

- I can't believe it!

Give me some tears now,
please!

- Aipom.

- Wait.
You don't understand, Aipom.

- Well, well.

So Murkrow's manic master
is a magician, huh?

- If they get that spell
working,

they'll be able
to understand anything

a Pokémon's
thinking or feeling.

- You know, just thinking
out loud here,

but if we got ahold
of that spell,

we could use it in all sorts
of Pokémon-based schemes.

- You mean the chance
to become ridiculously rich

has finally come?

- We can pay off
that boatload of bills

and still have tons of pazoozas
left over for thrills.

- So is it yea or nay?

both:
Yea!

- Wobbuffet!

- Wait, Aipom.

- Ash, if we split up,
we can surround Aipom.

- Right. We'll go this way.

- Misty, we'll go that way.

- Okay. Got it.

- [sighs]

- Good, looks like Aipom's
got its guard down.

- Are you ready, Brock?

- Right.

- Ash, ready?
- Yup.

both:
Let's go.

all:
Huh?

[all laughing]

- You again.
- Aipom!

- Aipom!

Hey, give that back.

- Oh, poor little witch.

Prepare for trouble.

- And now make it double.

- To protect the world
from devastation...

- To unite all peoples
within our nation...

- To denounce the evils
of truth and love...

- To extend our reach
to the stars above.

- Jessie.
- James.

- Team Rocket
magically blasts off

at the speed of light.

- The crystal ball
says surrender now

or prepare to fight.

- That's right.

- Wobbuffet!

- What do you want?

- Give us back that Aipom
and Lily's bag.

- Pika, Pika!

- You must be joking.

- How would we ever
cast that spell

if we gave
all the goodies back?

- What did you say?

- Murkrow, go and get
my bag back.

Hurry.

- Krow.

- Now here's the punch line.

- Murkrow!

- Oh, no. My Murkrow.

- Gotcha.

- Murkrow.

- A little jab'll do you.

[laughs]

- [sobbing]

Those crooks got away
with my bag and that poor Aipom.

- Not for long.

When I'm finished with them,
all they're gonna have

is a busted balloon.

- Pika, Pika.

- It's all junk.

Water from Remoraid's
Water g*n

and essence of Gloom nectar

and various iron fragments

containing different
Magnemite powers?

Nutty.

- This book
is brimming with bunk.

What are these wacky letters?

- Actually, it's text
from ancient Pokémonia,

from roughly the age
of the third king.

- You mean you can actually read
this rubbish?

- When I was a little shaver,
I used to spend endless hours

at my local library.

- You? Really?

- I never understood too much,

but I adored
all the little pictures.

- Great. That's helpful.

But we still need
those Aipom tears

if we're going to complete
that mind-reading Pokémon spell

and get rich.

Hmph!
- Oh, but, Jessie...

- Now, then, let's see if we
can't create a little crying.

Here you go.

- Stop it.
- Huh?

What's your problem?

- Just take a look
at our ancient book.

- I told you I could probably
read tea leaves

easier than this.

- Sorry, but it says
right here,

tears achieved through violence
won't work.

- Huh?

- Then this calls for a strategy
of a different color.

Let's think.

all:
Hmm.

Aha! That's it.

- Huh?

- [laughs]

Say, you know,
a funny thing happened to me

on the way here tonight.

A woman walks up to me
on the street and asks,

"Pardon me,
is that your Wartortle?

It looks mighty strong.
How come?"

And I say, "Because of the iron
in its diet."

[laughs]

What a knee-slapper.
I'm crying.

Get it?
- Aipom.

- Oh, a wise guy.
Then try this.

When's Mr. Mime
not a Pokémon?

When it's a pool shark.

And what's Tangela's
favorite song?

"Come Fry With Me."

[laughs]

Oh, I can't breathe.

- Aipom.
- I can't breathe.

Aipom won't even
crack a smile.

- 'Cause you're about as funny
as a squirtless Squirtle.

What we need here
is a little emotion,

something that's gonna tear
at that Aipom's

itty-bitty heartstrings.

Ah, my dear, sweet mother,

at long last, I gaze
upon your sweet smiling face.

Hug me, my son, my son.

And from that moment on,

Mommy and sonny boy lived
together happily ever after.

What a beautiful story.

- Sure was.

There isn't a dry eye
in the house.

- [yawns]

- So?
- Huh?

- You fools.

The fact is, you'll never
jerk any tears from it

using those clichéd story lines
and overblown dramatics.

What's needed is style,

grace, talent.

acting.

Let a theater professional
work her magic.

- Wobbuffet!

- Nothing,
not a trace of Team Rocket.

- Pika.

- Murkrow. Murkrow.

- Hold on.

It looks like Murkrow
may have spotted them.

- Then let's go.
- Pika!

- Oh, sweet prince,

if I cannot
be your princess,

then I fear
my end is near.

Oh! Farewell, my sweet prince.
Farewell.

Oh, the pain,

the agony of being separated
from the prince

sunk the beautiful
Princess Jessie

deep into despair

whilst her life slipped away
in frigid solitude

as the snowflakes of winter
fell upon her.

- Wobbuffet!

- [thinking]
Ah, the sweet symphony

that is the crowd's applause.

And I defy any man,
woman, or Pokémon

to quell the fountain
of emotion and tears

that must follow
a performance such as this.

What are you doing?

I'll put you to sleep!

- Stop! Stop!

- No tears for fears,
remember?

- Wobbuffet!

- Party's over,
Team Rocket.

- The twerps.

- Now let go of that Aipom.

- And hand over Lily's bag
while you're at it.

- That bag doesn't mean
a thing to you,

but it's very important to me.

- Ha! You're wrong.

The bag means the world
to us.

- That's right.

- That Aipom plus the bag
adds up to big bucks.

- Wobb!

- Now go, Arbok.

- Sss-Arbok!

- Arbok, Poison Sting attack.

- It's up to you now,
Murkrow.

- Murkrow.

- Icy Wind attack.

- Murkrow!

- [screams]

- No. Arbok.

- Go, Pikachu.

- Pikachu.

- Come on out, Weezing.

- Weezing.

- Sludge attack. Go.

- Pikachu, Thunderbolt attack.
Let's go.

- Pikachu!

- Aipom!
- Are you okay?

- Toge, Toge.

- Hey, wait!
- Aipom.

- Hang tough, Pikachu.

- Go, Weezing! Go.

Huh?

- It's run out of Sludge!

- Murkrow, go.

Use Swift attack now.

- Murkrow.

all:
Get away! Get away!

- Let's go, Pikachu.
Thunder attack now.

- Pikachu!

[all screaming]

all: Looks like Team Rocket's
blasting off again!

- Wobbu, Wobb!

- All right!
- Pika!

Pikachu!

- [laughing]

- Hey, look.

- It's Aipom's tears.

- Quick.

Aipom, wait!

both:
Oh, no!

- Pika!

- [laughing]

- Pika!

both:
Yeah!

- Togepi.

- Wow, that was so great.

Pikachu, thank you.

- Murkrow. Murkrow.

- Yeah, buddy,

thanks a lot.

- Shuckle's secret cure

and the powdered horn
of a Stantler,

some yogurt made from the milk
from a Miltank,

and a flower marked
with the kiss of a Jynx,

Parasect's Stun Spore
and the dirt from Meowth's claw,

and last but not least,
an Aipom's tear.

There we go.

Now, then, who'll be
the first volunteer?

- I will.
Please pick me. Please.

- All right, Ash.

Remember you'll have
to finish it off

with Pikachu's Thunderbolt.

- Yes, right.
- Pika.

- Shuckle, Shuck,
run amok.

Stantler's horn
and all the rest,

finish it off
with Pikachu's best.

- Now, Pikachu, Thunderbolt.

- Pikachu!

- Well, I guess I am feeling

a little bit like I'm getting
inside a Pikachu's mind.

- Huh?
- Oh, no!

[singing]
- I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon

- I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon

- Uh, what happened?

- Pika?

- Pikachu?

How'd you guys get so big?

- Um, you're a...

- Is that really you, Ash?

- What?

Why are you guys
looking at me

like I've got two heads
or something?

- No, there's just one,
but look.

- Wow! What?

I'm a Pikachu?

Whoa! How did this--
How--What--

- Strange, that's not how
it's supposed to happen.

No way.

- What? What is it, Lily?

- Brock, it's the spell.

It looks like it continues
onto the next page.

- And?

- But the next page
is too smudged up,

and I can't read it.

Oh, no!
What have I done?

- Lily, will Ash
be a permanent Pikachu?

- No, don't be silly.

Ash will be back to normal

just as soon as the spell
wears off.

- Oh, in that case,
this is awesome.

I'm a Pikachu.

Pikachu, Togepi, Murkrow.

Come on,
let's go play.

- Pika!
- Krow! Krow!

- Gee, maybe the spell worked
after all.

- Yeah, Ash is definitely
inside the mind of a Pikachu.

- [laughs]
- Pika.

narrator:
Having become a Pikachu,

is Ash really learning
to read the mind of a Pokémon?

Either way, this is one
experience he'll never forget

on the road
to the Johto League.

[singing]
- There's no time

To question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe
