05x43 - Fangs for Nothin

Post by bunniefuu »

male narrator:
With a fierce determination,

Ash finally began
the long-anticipated

Blackthorn Gym Battle

for his eighth and final badge
with Clair, the Gym Leader.

Meanwhile, Team Rocket
was in the process

of stealing the legendary
Dragon Fang,

which was passed down
for generations

in the Blackthorn Gym.

Their battle was postponed,

and our heroes joined forces
with Clair

to recapture the treasure.

As they searched for their foes,

Team Rocket entered
the Dragon Holy Land

and tricked the Dragonite there

into aiding them
in their evil plot.

As Ash and friends
watched them escape,

a strange figure approached them
from the sky.

Were they to encounter friend
or foe?

[singing]
- Pokémon

- No time to question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

You'll never see us
run away from a fight

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe

And I believe

I've got a chance to win

I'm on my way to victory

- Pokémon

- I can be a Champion

If I just believe

I'm on a Master Quest

Master Quest

I want the whole world to see

And I believe

I'm gonna be the very best

'Cause all I've got to do

Is believe in me

- Pokémon

- [roars]

- It's Charizard!

- Pikachu!
- Oh!

- You're right, Ash.

- [roars]

- Yup, that's Ash's Charizard.

- I guess the Flamethrower
greeting was a dead giveaway.

- [trills]

- [roars]

- [laughing]

It's great to see you too,
Charizard.

You haven't changed a bit.

- Pika-Pika!

- I wonder why Charizard's here.

- Wasn't Charizard living
in the Charicific Valley?

- Uh, Miss Clair,

are you anywhere near
as confused as I am?

[distant roar]

both: Huh?

- [roars]

- Hey, isn't that--

- Hi, guys!
How's everyone doing?

both: Liza!

Hmm?

- You know her too?

- Long time, no see.

- You look great, Liza.

- It's wonderful
to see you again.

- Same here.
The feeling is mutual.

I didn't realize
I'd be seeing Ash down here.

No wonder Charizard
couldn't wait to land.

- It's nice to--
- Hi, there.

It's been a long time.

Since we last parted,
I've been filled

with sadness and longing,
and you know just--

- But mostly he's been filled
with baloney.

Sorry.

- So are you saying
that this Charizard

actually used to be
Ash's Pokémon?

- Mm-hmm, but Charizard and I

have been training
for a while now.

- Clair, I don't get it.

How did you get to know
my Charizard?

- Liza and I
have known each other

since we were little girls.

And she brings
the Charizard here

from Charicific Valley
every once in a while

so that they can train.

- It's always so great
when we get together.

And Charizard loves it.

- Though Charizard seems
to be most interested

in being Charla's bodyguard.

- Bodyguard?

- Wow, look at those two
lovebirds.

- Can it be I'm the only one
who hasn't found love?

- So tell me, Ash,
have you gotten around

to challenging Clair
to a Gym Battle yet?

Who ended up winning the match?

- No one.

We had to stop in the middle
when all the trouble started.

- What kind of trouble?

- Release me at once,
you big lizard.

- You don't want me
to get airsick.

- [grunts]

- Dragonite says,
"Hold on to your lunch,

'cause we're going somewhere
super nice."

- Perhaps a vacation.

- You know, we have earned it.

Team Rocket: Couldn't we fly
first class?

- What? Team Rocket stole
the Dragon Fang?

- And not only that;
those crooks managed

to get Dragonite in on it
as well.

- Oh, dear.

Why on Earth would Dragonite
run away with those criminals?

- I don't know,
but will you help us out?

- You know I will.

- Hey, Charizard, you'll
help us out too, won't you?

- [grunts]

- Awesome.
- What a view.

- I can see for miles.

- Every flower
in this wondrous place

stays in bloom all year round.

Season after season,

the Holy Land's beauty
never fades,

and many believe it to be
because of some mysterious power

from the Dragon Pokémon.

- Some people have labeled
the Dragonite

as a Pokémon of destruction.

But looking around at all of
this miraculous beauty,

I see it as a Pokémon
of protection.

All of the Pokémon
who live here

are extremely kind-hearted,
including the Dragon Pokémon.

- Well, then,
why did Dragonite attack us?

- Maybe Team Rocket threatened
to destroy the Dragon Fang

if Dragonite didn't.

- Yeah, then Dragonite
wouldn't have any choice.

- No way.

Dragonite
is much too intelligent

to have gotten deceived
in such a way by those three.

Dragonite is very proud
of its strength and abilities

and isn't afraid to stand up
to those who oppose it.

- Remember Clair and I told you

that Dragonite had long ago
belonged

to the Blackthorn Gym's
very first Gym Leader?

That leader loved
the Dragon Holy Land

more than anything

and dedicated his whole life
to preserving and protecting it.

Dragonite was inspired
by its Trainer's dedication

and decided to stay here
and help with the leader's work.

Even after its beloved Trainer
passed on,

Dragonite has carried on
the will of that Gym Leader

and continues to protect
the Holy Land to this day.

Perhaps now you can understand
why I don't believe

Dragonite would just run off
with those hooligans.

- Yeah, I understand.

- Pika.

- [moans] Well, that wasn't
the most comfortable flight.

- You mean we've landed?

- Either those trees
are spinning or I am.

- Wobbuffet!

- That does it.
Give me a barf bag.

- What happened to Dragonite?

all: Hmm? Hmm?
Hmm?

It's all for us?

- Paradise!

- Ah, a fruity nirvana!

- If I'm dreaming,
don't wake me up.

- Wobbu.

- A-ou, a-ou.

- Dragonite says we should eat
our fill and then relax,

'cause we've come this far,
and we're safe here.

- You are, without a doubt...

- A prince among Pokémon.

- The world is a better place

'cause you're flying around
in it.

- Wobbuffet!

- Hold on.
Where are we?

- Huh?

- Lakefront property?

- Huh?
Huh?

- Looks to me more like a vault,

and vault is where you store
your valuables.

- Well, then,
you know what that means.

- Their valuables...

- Become our valuables.

- Look!

What's that shining thing
over there?

- Oh, it's a reflection.

The light of the sun
shining off the lake.

- Miss Clair, you don't think
that Dragonite would go

to the Dragon Shrine, do you?

If Team Rocket ever found out
about that shrine

and what's inside,

I can't bear to think
of the consequences!

- Excuse me,
but what's a Dragon Shrine?

- Centuries ago,

when people considered Pokémon
to be our enemies,

this shrine was built
as a symbol of the hope

that someday Pokémon and humans

would be able to live together
peacefully.

Then, as their hope
for mutual peace

finally became reality,
as a token of their gratitude,

the people constructed

what we now know
as the Prayer Flame

and directed that it be
permanently housed

in the Dragon Shrine.

Those events occurred
over years ago,

but, miraculously,
the Prayer Flame

continues to burn brightly
to this day.

- Look at that bowl!
It's solid gold.

- I'd say it's worth
at least a cool billion.

- So put out that fire,
and let's go.

- Wait a minute.

With treasures such as this,

it's probably meant
to remain flaming,

so I say we take it as is.

- Won't we get burned?

- Probably, but it will be
more valuable that way.

We'll sell it for more.

both: Be careful, James.

- Don't worry.
I'll be fine.

Besides, you know I like
my bowls flaming.

- We can't argue with that.

- I feel kind of bad doing this
after Dragonite helped us out.

- Don't worry.
It'll pass.

- Steady.
Steady.

Now!
Mm, bingo.

Didn't spill a drop.

all: Sentret.

Sentret!

- What was that move,
butterfingers?

- If it got scratched,
it'll lose its value.

- Sorry, but that thing
was scorching hot, okay?

[flames crackling]
all: Hmm?

Ah!
Fire!

- [growls]

- Did you hear that?

- That massive growl?

- Don't growls usually come
attached to monsters?

- Wobbuffet!

- [roars]

[all screaming]

[all yelling]

- Looks like
we're getting Hyper Beam.

- I think you should know
it was all James's idea.

So please feel free
to direct your beam his way.

- Wobbu...ffet!

- Hold on!
I'm too young to fry!

[all yelling]

- [howls]

- Hey, look at that smoke.

- Where there's smoke,
there's fire.

- No!
It can't be!

There are thousands of Pokémon
living in there.

We've got to do something
to help them...and fast.

- Charizard, go faster.
- [roars]

- Okay, Charla,
let's speed it up too.

- [grunts]

[Pokémon yelling]

- There's no need
to be so angry!

- I'm innocent, I tell you.
I'm innocent!

Nothing more than a pawn

in James's evil game
of selfishness and trickery!

You get out in front
for a change.

- Wobbuffet!

- Well, look at that.

- Wobbuffet,
you are good for something.

- Wobbuffet.

- It's back!

- [growling]

- Is it possible
that it's even more angry?

- Run!

- Hey, Dragonite,
we're here to help you.

- My hero.
- We're saved!

- We're so grateful.

- Dragonair, go!

Now, Dragonair,
put out the fire.

[rain splattering]

- Right on target.

- Come on, Charla.

Let's go and lead all of
those Pokémon to safety.

- Misty, let's help.
- Right.

- Onix, Geodude, let's go.

- [roars]

- Geodude.

- Onix, use Rock Throw
on that fire.

- Geodude.

- Staryu, Politoed,
go help them.

- Huh!
- Politoed.

- Put out the fire
with Water g*n.

- Politoed, Politoed,
Politoed, Politoed.

- That means you too.

- Who's that Pokémon?

- It's Chinchou!

- Chinchou!

- Hold on, Charizard.

- Dragonite,
you've got to calm down.

- You freed us from the jaws
of death and despair.

- Huh?
- How could we ever repay you?

- Do you take checks?
- Wobbuffet!

- I'll just take this
off your hands now.

- Hey, that's mine!

- You want what's yours?
- Uh, no, thanks.

- Dragonite, it's Clair.
Don't you recognize me?

Dragonite, come on.
It's me.

- Look out!
- Pika!

- Oh, no!
Clair!

- Are you hurt?

- I just don't understand this.

- I hate to say it,

but I fear poor Dragonite
is suffering

from attack rage.

- No, not that.

- [screams]

- How are the Pokémon,
Brock?

- Okay.

- What's attack rage?

- When Dragon Pokémon perform
lots of attacks,

one right after the other,

they can become confused.

- Then this happens?

- It's unable to stop itself
from attacking.

- Then we have to try
and help it to stop.

Pikachu, Thunder attack.

- Pika.
Pika.

Pika!
- No!

Pikachu!

[Pokémon chirping]

- That was close.
Thanks, Charizard.

- Pika?

- Hey, Dragonite,

can't you hear the voices
of those Pokémon?

They're trying to help you
remember.

This place is your home.

- Something just terrible
must have happened

to make Dragonite behave
this way.

- Uh, I think I might know.

- What?

- You stole the Prayer Flame?

- And it slipped
out of your hands?

- I bought cheap gloves.

- We're trying to be frugal.

- Leave me out of this wreckage.

You two blew it.

- Enough.
We have to save the shrine.

- I'll take care of it, Clair.

Politoed, Water g*n!

- Politoed.

Good job, Politoed.

- [trills]

- I'm gonna leave this
in your hands.

Is that okay?
- Sure.

- Somehow, I've got to save
all those Pokémon.

- Charizard, Flamethrower now!

- [roars]

- Did that do it?
- Pika.

[both gasp]

- What was that?

- That was Dragonair's
Safeguard.

- Thank you, Clair.

- For now, we battle together.

Dragonair,
let's cut Dragonite off.

- Charizard, Flamethrower!

- Dragonair, Hyper Beam now!

- [gasps]
- What?

- [bellows]

- Use Hyper Beam again.

- Charizard, Seismic Toss.

Charizard!
- Pika!

- This won't work, just throwing
one attack after another.

Ash, I think I have an idea.

- What is it?

- Well, I'm gonna need Pikachu
to help me out.

If it works,
we could snap Dragonite

out of its confusion.

- Pika.
- Pikachu.

Are you ready to help Clair out?

- Pika.

- Dragonair, call in
some thunder clouds.

- Okay,
now we can stop Dragonite

with Thunder.

- Pika.

- If we can get Dragonite
to be still

for just one moment,

that might be enough
to stop the attack rage.

- All right,
you help us out too, Charizard!

- Charla, we've got
to get down there!

- Okay, now, Dragonair.

- [wails]

- [bellows]

- It's time, Pikachu.
Thunder!

- Pikachuuuuuuuu!

- That's it!
- We did it!

- Use Hyper Beam!

- Charizard, Fire Spin now!

- [roars]

- Check it out.

- The Hyper Beam's trapped
inside of the Fire Spin.

- Dragonite!
- It didn't work!

- Pika?

- Pikachu, let's go.
- Pika.

- Hold on.

Look there, Dragonite's eyes.

- Huh?

- [howls]

- Dragonite.

both: Huh?

[birds squawking]

[animals chattering]

- They can see
how bad Dragonite feels.

They know Dragonite's not bad.

- Unlike some people, right?

- It's nice to see
that Dragonite has

that little temper issue
under control.

- Well, then,
we'll be on our way.

Team Rocket: Bye!

- Good-bye...
thieves.

Ah!
The Dragon Fang!

- [laughs]

Looks like you can't keep
a good thief down, now, can you?

- Pikachu, give 'em
a Thunderbolt.

- Pikachuuuu!

- No!

- It's okay.
I got it!

- Pika-Kachu.

- Whose idea was it
to steal that thing?

- I believe it was James.

- Thanks for reminding me.

- [singing]
I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon

- I'm on a Master Quest

- Pokémon

- Geodude.

- Thanks, Geodude.

Good thing
that flame didn't go out.

- You're right, Ash.

And it looks like
the Dragons' Holy Land

will be all right too.

- Well,
that's a glorious relief.

More than anything else,
I was surprised to see

how much Dragonite has grown
both emotionally and physically.

But I don't mean to be
"dragon" this thing out.

Ha!
Get it!

[laughing]

Miss Clair?
Everyone?

Where'd everyone go?

Hello?

- Thanks for all your help.

We couldn't have done it
without you.

- You're welcome,
but what about the battle?

- I guess
you'll have to start over again.

- Yeah, but for now,
we should rest up.

We can battle
first thing tomorrow.

- Sounds good to me.

So, Pikachu,
you ready to go again?

- Pika.

- [roars]

- What's that for?

- That was a good-luck kiss.

- Gee, thanks.

Whoa!

- Wynaut!

narrator: Though Ash's quest
for his eighth badge

was interrupted,

our heroes were able
to help Dragonite

and save the Dragons'
Holy Land.

So now his last Gym Battle
can finally begin.

[singing]
- There's no time

To question my moves

I stick to the path
that I choose

Me and my friends
are gonna do it right

To be a Master is my dream

All I've got to do is believe
