through the world of Pokémon!

That large cluster of lights over there is Vermilion City.

[Regina's mother] I'm sure you'll make lots of friends.

[Regina's mother sighs]

[Regina] It's nothing.

[airplane engine whooshing]

-[Cerise] Take care out there! -[all] We'll see you really soon!

Remember, Ash, have some fun.

-I'm kind of freaked out… -You'll be fine!

Don't worry. I'll talk you up to everybody!

That's what I'm kind of freaked out about.

-[laughs] -Pika?

[Goh] Hey, quit worrying! I've got you covered!

When I found out the theme for my essay was Friends,

your face immediately came to mind.

[Ash] Really?

But, Goh, do I have to go to your school with you?

How are they gonna know how interesting you are

if they don't see you in the flesh?

-I don't know about interesting… -You're plenty interesting!

Not sure about plenty either!

Talk about friends.

-I'm so happy for Goh! -Vee.

[wind blowing]

[Chloe] A Glaceon?

Eevee.

[gentle music]

[Chloe] Oh, cool!

[Rotom Phone] Glaceon. The Fresh Snow Pokémon. An Ice type.

One of Eevee's evolved forms,

Glaceon can control its body temperature at will,

and by freezing water particles in the air,

it can create diamond dust.

Mirche, what are you doing that for? Come on now, please?

Mirche, huh…

[Goh] Hey, Chloe!

[Goh] And, if you wanna know what's lurking around in Ash's head…

It's pretty much Pokémon and Pokémon battles.

They fill it to the top!

[all laugh]

-No way! -You know that it's true.

Come on, I do think of other stuff!

For example?

For example, let's see.

Like what I'm gonna have for dinner, and then…

[laughter]

[Chloe] It's like a two man standup comedy act!

[Goh] But here's the most important part of all.

Ash can understand how Pokémon feel!

Hm. You understand how a Pokémon feels,

think of Cinderace or Grookey.

Yeah, but not like you do.

I think you understand it on a whole different level.

It's like he has some innate intuition.

[Ash] What does innate mean?

[Chloe] Yep, I've seen that firsthand.

And so, that wraps it up.

My presentation about my good friend, Ash.

[all cheer, applause]

[teacher] That was a wonderful presentation.

And so, Ash, since you're already with us,

we invite you to have a fun day with us here in class!

Regina? All Pokémon are looked after in the Pokémon garden.

[Regina] I can find the way on my own.

-[Chloe] Hi, everyone! -[Pokémon chitter]

I'd like you all to meet our new friends, Regina and Mirche.

Oh, Eevee is my partner, Pikachu is Ash's partner,

and Grookey is Goh's partner.

Ah, I'll introduce you to Ash and Goh in a bit.

[grunts]

[gasps]

-[Pikachu chitters] -[yelps]

[Grookey] Grookey.

[gasps]

-Pika! -Grookey!

-But… -Mind if I join them?

[Chloe] Nice to meet you, Mirche.

-Mirche? -Glace?

Now just wait here. And when it's time to go home…

[Chloe] Let's come back here during lunch!

-[Regina] Research lab? -[Chloe] A Pokémon research lab.

It's called the Cerise Laboratory.

Yes. In Vermilion City. It has a solid reputation.

Then I think that would be just perfect,

they could look at Glaceon.

[Chloe screams]

[all] Hi, Regina!

-Where are you from? -[student ] How long will you be here?

[student ] Tell me everything about Glaceon!

[all grunting]

[grunts]

-Grookey! -Gla…

[suspenseful music]

-Ce… -Come on, everyone.

Why don't we all just calm down?

[all screams]

[Regina sobs]

Everything's just fine!

-Chloe's right. -Not a problem!

[Cerise] Glaceon did that?

[Regina's father] Glaceon freezes them all with immense power.

Anything it doesn't like.

[Regina's mother] And because of that,

my daughter cannot seem to make any friends.

We've had to transfer her multiple times.

That must worry you greatly.

[Regina's mother] Professor Cerise.

Would it be possible for you to have a look at Glaceon?

We're very worried.

Is it safe for our daughter to be near it?

And you're afraid something's wrong with Glaceon, right?

That's right.

It's something we just can't figure out.

Truth is…

[both grunt]

All we want is for our daughter to make friends.

We fear that she'll always be alone as long as Glaceon is around.

[school alarm rings]

and I figured there would be things she doesn't understand yet,

so I wanted to explain the school rules.

I figured it would happen like it always does.

I see. It's just, you know, you came to us all panicked and…

Sorry! Guess I jumped to conclusions.

[Cerise] Its condition is stable,

but why don't we let it rest here for today?

Mirche's not sick, is it?

Hmm.

[beeps]

[Cerise] You're very attentive to Mirche's needs.

That came through clearly in the examination.

-It's just… -Just what?

This is its body temperature reading.

It's very low. That is a normal aspect of Glaceon's physique,

but even taking that into account, it's too low.

[gasps]

[Cerise] I hear Mirche frequently generates

high powered Blizzard moves, correct?

It's possible it used too much energy

and lost its ability to regulate its body temperature.

[gasps]

If these symptoms keep up then it might be…

It's my fault. All my fault. [sobbing]

Oh, Regina…

[rustles]

The first time Mirche used its Blizzard move.

[Regina] Some bullies were teasing me.

They said I looked like an ice queen from a picture book.

After that, it kept happening, over and over.

And each time, it was Mirche who came to my rescue.

From then on, Mirche was always on guard, protecting me from harm.

No matter where, no matter when.

But somehow I knew I could count on it.

[Regina sobs]

But I let it happen!

[Regina] I'm so sorry, Mirche!

I let you protect me for so long,

but I never once tried to protect you!

How could anybody call me a friend?

[Regina sobs]

But you are friends!

You're truly Mirche's beloved best friend!

And it's because you're friends that it gets so protective and angry.

It's from the heart!

[soft music]

[Regina's mother] The school contacted us, much to our surprise!

It happened again?

-[Regina's father] Mirche? -[gasps]

[Regina's mother] Is Mirche all right?

[Regina's father] Sounds like it was the problem.

[Cerise] No. It appears it wasn't Mirche.

[Regina's father] Huh? What do you mean?

[Regina] Father, Mother…

The truth is Mirche was always protecting me.

It didn't want me to be bullied all the time.

[both gasp]

But now Mirche's used up too much of its power

and I can't let that happen again!

It's all because I stood by and let Mirche do it!

[sobbing]

-Regina… -[sobbing]

[gasps]

I understand now.

I'm sorry. I had no idea.

[whimpers]

[soft music]

I'll get stronger.

From now on, I'm going to be Mirche's protector!

-That's what I like to hear! -Go for it!

My Eevee can sometimes use the same moves as its evolved forms.

[chuckles]

I hope Ash and Goh are doing well, too.

Since the last time I saw you, I've made sure that Mirche

has never had a reason to use Blizzard.

[Chloe and Regina] Oh, I'm just talking

about those overpowered attacks."

[Regina] These days,

we're totally involved in Pokémon battling.

Mirche! Go!

Victreebel! Go! Go!

[screaming]

[grunting] Glace!

-[screams] -[boys gasp]

[Regina] When I have a break from school,

Mirche and I will come see you again.

[Regina and Chloe] "So get ready, okay? Regina."

Of course we will!

So Regina's started battling. Wow!

[both] It'll be battle time!
