Diesel was sent to Arlesburgh.
to pull cars on the line
where Ryan and Daisy were.

- Hello, Daisy the diesel.
- Diesel railcar,
thank you very much.
- Well, as I'm shunting cars
between Harwick and Knapford,
the line will be much improved
with we two diesels
working here.
- I'm not just any diesel.
I'm unique,
a most singular engine,
and certainly not the same
kind of diesel as you are.
[whistle blares]
- Hold on.
narrator: Daisy really is
one of a kind.
Uniquely useful.
[whistle blows]
And she never tires
of reminding
the other engines
about this.
- Railcars carry
passengers, you know, Skiff?
And I'm the only one
on the Island of Sodor.
[upbeat music]
I don't pull
dusty old cars.
They would be bad
for my swerves.

There's no other engine

[caws]

[whistle blows]

narrator: Diesel was cross
with Daisy,
the diesel railcar.
He thought she was
very full of herself,
and he was fed up
with her boasting.
- You know, a real
one-of-a-kind engine.
Uniquely useful.
The only one
on the North Western Railway.
- Oh, I'm sick
of hearing about Daisy,
the diesel railcar.
- Who's talking about Daisy?
- I was talking about Harvey.
[whistle toots]
narrator:
Harvey is a t*nk engine
with a crane mounted
on top of his boiler.
A unique engine,
one of a kind.
Then Diesel saw a way
to show Daisy
that she wasn't the most
singular engine on Sodor.
- Hello, Harvey.
- Oh, hello, Diesel.
- Did you know
that Daisy has been saying
she is the most uniquely useful
engine on Sodor?
- Well, we're all useful
in our own way.
- Yes, yes, Harvey.
But do you think she's more
useful than you,
with your crane?
Because that's what
she's been saying.
- Oh, really?
- More or less.
- Well, that's not
a very nice thing to say.
I can be useful, too.
- That's not what Daisy thinks.
Narrator: So Diesel started
spreading rumors
and causing problems
between Harvey and Daisy.
- Hey, Ryan.
You'd better look out
for your friend, Daisy.
Harvey's been saying he's
much more useful than she is.
- Oh.
- The engine with a crane.
You must know him.
There's no other engine
like him on the whole of Sodor.
- No, Diesel,
I don't think I do know him,
but he should certainly know
there's no engine like me.
- [laughs]
Well, she says she can carry
passengers without a coach.
That's much more useful
than having a crane
and silly wooden buffers.
- What's going on
with you and Harvey?
He's been saying he's more
useful than you.
- [sighs]
- If I were Harvey,
I'd give that Daisy
a piece of my mind.
[whistle blows]
Anyway, Thomas, must dash.
Nasty shunt and all that.
- Hello, Harvey.
What's going on
between you and Daisy?
- I don't know.
Everyone keeps asking me
about that.
She sounds like a rude
and unpleasant engine.
Eh, I hope I don't
run into her.
- [chuckles maniacally]
narrator: Daisy was on
her way to Harwick
when there was trouble.
[horn honks]
- Ohh!
[bell dinging]
[gasps]
Harvey.
- Uh, Daisy?
[dramatic rock music]

[cheerful music]
Uh, is there a problem?
- These crates on the line.
- Oh.
- I guess I'm going
to be delayed now.
That's not very useful,
is it?
- Well, I could move
the crates with my crane,
but then I would be
running late, too.
Eh, I have to go and pick
a replacement passenger coach
for one that Diesel
derailed this morning.
- [gasps]
No need for that.
I can pick up
the extra passengers
without a coach.
- Oh, how useful is that?
- Very useful,
but right now
not as useful
as having that,
your swingy thingy.
- Oh, you mean my crane.
Oh, right.
[laughs]
So I will move these crates.
- And I'll pick up
the extra passengers.
[smooth music]

And you'll never guess what.
They did the puppet show
right there.
[both laugh]
- Oh, that sounds
so funny.
- It was magnifique.
- [chuckles]

- You're not supposed
to be friends.
[both chuckle]
- Why would you ever think
we wouldn't get along, Diesel?
- But you're both
so different!
A diesel railcar
and a steamie with a crane?
Ooh.
[both laugh]
- What's the matter
with him?
- No, those silly engines,
acting like
they're so special.
narrator: Diesel was in
such a grumpy mood
that he didn't notice
that the points were set
towards the ramp that
led down towards the sea.
- Ahhh!
Noo!
[shouting indistinctly]
[splash]
[sputtering]
My bottom's wet!
- Oh, don't worry, Diesel.
I'm here.
- Harvey?
Why are you helping me?
I wasn't very nice to you.
- Ha, I know, Diesel,
but I'm always willing to help.
- Do you know
what I think, Harvey?
- What's that, Daisy?
- Maybe what makes
an engine really special
is not how they look
but what they do.
Like you, Harvey.
Helping Diesel after he's
been causing all that trouble.
- But Diesel can be uniquely
useful, too, Daisy,
when he's pulling cars
and helping on the railway.
- [whimpers]

narrator: Daisy,
the diesel railcar,
likes that her new friend
Harvey is so different.
- And with that crane,

a bulk standard engine.

[chuckles]
