Big World! Big Adventures!" ♪

[laughter]

♪ ♪

- Whoo-hoo!

[cheer echoes]

[engine chugging slows]

[rousing music]

♪ ♪

Hello!

There are lots and lots of

engines on the Island of Sodor,

but Sir Topham Hat still

loves to add more.

And today, I want to

tell you about

the arrival of

my newest friend.

[whistle toots]

All aboard for a big adventure!

♪ ♪

[Thomas narrating]

- Ah-oh!

[horn honks]

- Good evening, everyone.

Eh--oh.

[yelps]

- [gasps]

- Oh--oh!

[brakes screech]

[yelps]

[grunts]

[groans]

I've got something important

I wanted to tell you.

- Uh, sir--

- [stammers]

- Excuse me, sir.

- Now, Thomas.

Don't interrupt.

- But sir, there's--

- As--as I was saying,

I have an important

announcement for all of you.

- I'm slowing down!

[brakes screech]

- Huh?

[metal clanks]

[groaning]

- Hello, sir,

and, uh, sorry, sir.

I miscalculated how long

it would take me to stop,

by, uh, quite a lot.

- I'll say.

[chuckles]

You nearly bumped me

off the rails.

I wasn't expecting you

until tomorrow.

Nia, Percy, Thomas, Emily,

this is Rebecca.

- Hello!

- Welcome!

- Hi, Rebecca!

- Hello, my friend!

- Hi, everyone.

- Rebecca's going to be staying

with you at Tidmouth Sheds,

and helping Gordon

during busy times.

- What?

I don't need any--

- She'll help ensure there's

no confusion or delay.

- Oh, the indignity.

[whistle toots]

- Come on, Rebecca.

I'll show you the way

to Tidmouth Sheds.

There had been a lot of

changes on the railway.

Edward had

moved to Wellsworth,

which was nearer

to his branch line.

[clank]

- Ah!

- Oops.

[soft laugh]

- And Henry had moved

to Vicarstown with Rosie.

So even though Nia had

joined us at Tidmouth Sheds,

there was room

for Rebecca there too.

[rooster crows]

[gentle music]

♪ ♪

- Good morning, Rebecca!

- Hello, Emily.

Wow!

Everyone's up and ready to go

so early.

- That's because

we're really useful.

Especially me,

I'm a Really Useful Engine.

- So am I.

I'm off to--

- Coming through!

- Hey!

- Gordon is off

to pull the Express.

He's really strong,

the fastest engine on Sodor.

- And I'm

the fastest red engine--

Hey!

- Excuse me, James.

- Did you know Emily

competed in

the Best Decorated

Engine Parade

at the Great Railway Show?

- So did I.

- [yawns]

- [groans]

Come on!

- And Percy's just coming back

from pulling the mail train.

- Wow.

These sound like

the best engines ever.

[exciting music]

♪ ♪

- Whoo-hoo!

♪ ♪

- Huzzah!

- I'd better work extra hard

if I want to fit in here.

[whistle toots]

[indistinct talking]

[both yelping]

- Oh!

- Rebecca was so fast that

she got to Vicarstown early.

And that meant

she was in the way.

[whistle toots]

- Who's that on my platform?

Excuse me!

- Oopsies. I'll be out of

your way in just a minute.

- What are you doing

on my platform?

And where are my passengers?

- Oh, no, I think I picked up

your passengers by mistake.

- What?

Who is that?

- Rebecca, how did you

get here before me?

- Oh.

I thought you were the one

behind me, little brother.

- Why can't you call me

"Gordon"?

- Because I'm your big brother,

which makes you

my little brother.

Little brother.

- Oh!

You think you're so cool,

don't you?

- Whoopsie!

Off I go again.

I don't want to be late

on my first day.

[brakes screech]

All the other engines

are so fast and strong

and compete in competitions.

I hope I won't be known

as a slow coach.

I know!

I'll leave straightaway

so I won't be late.

- Hey!

Wait!

- Oh, not so fast!

- You're far too early!

- Wait!

[whistle blows]

- Where do you think

you're going?

- Come back!

- We never got on!

- That was the train

I was meant to get on.

- Rebecca was so early

to pick up passengers

from the cruise ship...

- Excuse me!

[whistle toots]

- That she was

in the way again.

- Oops.

Sorry.

[whistles toot]

- Ooh, ooh, coming through,

me hearty!

- Oops, sorry.

My name's Rebecca, by the way.

[clank]

Oh!

- Oi!

Watch out, Rebecca-by-the-way.

[laughs]

- Oops, sorry.

Uh--I don't know

what to call you.

- I'm Diesel,

I think you'll find.

- Sorry,

Diesel-I-think-you'll-find.

I'll be out of your way

just as quick as I can.

- [chuckles]

- [exhales]

Sorry I'm late.

- You're not late, Rebecca.

You're early again.

- Gordon's right.

You've been

getting everywhere too early.

You have caused

confusion and del--

oh, uh, confusion and, um--

well, uh, [stammers]

a great deal of confusion!

- Yes, sir.

Sorry, sir.

- I can't run a railway

if engines don't

follow the timetable.

Otherwise, passengers

miss their trains.

- I didn't realize

how early I've been, sir.

And from what I heard,

all the engines on your railway

are so fast and so strong and--

well, I didn't want

to be known as a slow coach.

- It's not a race or a contest.

You just need to

keep to the timetable.

- Yes, sir.

Thank you, sir.

- You'll soon

get the hang of it, Rebecca.

[whistle toots]

- Hello, little brother.

- Oh!

- And hello again, new engine.

- My name's Rebecca.

And I don't know why you

keep calling Gordon

"little brother."

You look the same size to me.

If anything,

I think Gordon looks bigger.

- Huh?

- [laughs]

See you later, Gordon!

- Oh, uh, Rebecca?

[whistle toots]

Wait for me!

I'm going your way, too.

- Hm.

Let's go together.

[upbeat music]

♪ ♪

[bell clanging]

[whistle toots]

- When Rebecca came to Sodor,

she worried that the others

were better than she was.

Rebecca tried very hard

to do her best.

But I know that sometimes

when I try too hard,

I make mistakes.

[steam whooshes]

When I first came to Sodor,

I left the station before I

was coupled up to my coaches.

And when Rebecca

came to Sodor,

she was leaving earlier

than she was supposed to.

And soon, she was so early

that passengers were

missing their trains

and she was

getting in the way.

And that was a mistake.

Being too early was not

so useful after all.

[steam whooshes]

But it's okay to make mistakes!

Everybody makes them!

That's how you learn to do

things better, just like I did.

- Come on, Thomas!

- It's time to go!

- See you next time!

[whistle toots]

♪ ♪

[gentle woodwind music]

♪ ♪

Children singing:

[whistle blasts]

[whistle toots]

[upbeat music]
