- Hi. I'’m Calvin.

Welcome to "Mutt & Stuff"--

the only school where all the students

never wear shoes...

because they all have paws. [chuckles]

- [barks]

[surf music]

[barking]

- Okay, Zippy, I'’ll tell them.

Today we'’re going to a big skateboarding festival.

- [barks]

- I agree. It'’s gonna be awesome.

- [barks]

- Okay, Zippy, time to start school.

I can'’t wait for the skateboard festival.

[upbeat music]

[buzzer rings]

Thanks, Zippy.

[bell tolling]

Time for liftoff.



Hey, guys! all: Hi!

- [barks]



- Don'’t wait if you want to skate.

- Come on, skateboarders, time for school.

[dogs barking]



- [barks]

[dogs yelping]



- [barks]

- Hey, Mr. Shades, you look ready

for the big skateboard festival.

- [barks]

- Oh, boy, I'’m so excited to skateboard today.

- Me too. I'’m going with you guys.

- What? Oh, you are?

I bet you'’re awesome on a skateboard.

You'’ve got to be awesome. You'’re awesome, right?

- Well, I'’ve got some moves. - I knew it.

- Whoo! Calvin is awesome.

Whoo!

- [chuckles] Stuff is so funny.

Come on, it'’s time to start class.

Good morning, everyone!

Everyone here?

[dogs barking]

And the dog who puts "high" in "high five," Stuff.

- That'’s me! Ooh-hoo-hoo. Hi, Calvin.

both: Superpaw!

- Okay, guys, today'’s the big skateboard festival.

We'’re gonna skate fast.

[dogs barking]

We'’re gonna wear cool skateboard gear.

[dogs barking]

I even brought in a special dog groomer

so we can skate in style.

- [barks]

- Now, that is awesome.

- [barks]

- And, Rocket, this will be your very first time skateboarding.

I know you'’ll love it.

- [barking]

- Okay, Zippy, what should we do first

to get ready for skateboarding?

[zany music]



- [barks]

[upbeat music]

- Zippy, spin the wheel

and pick out something for us to do.

[enchanted music]



It'’s dress-up time.

You guys can try on your skateboard gear.

- Open the Doggy Everything Closet.

[upbeat music]



- This dog'’s learning a new trick.



- Whoa, you guys look like you'’re ready to roll.



- Yo! Skating! Whoo!

- The puppies are too young to play with skateboards,

but they'’re not too young to play with toys.

Let'’s see what they'’re up to.

- ♪ Puppy playtime

[upbeat music]

- Hey, Davenport. Davenport!

- Hmm? [shouts]

Oh, hey, Zoe.

- Did you see how excited the dogs were

to get dressed up for skateboarding?

- [chuckles] Yeah, I'’m glad cats never get excited like that.

- Yeah.

both: Whoa! - A leaf!

It moved. both: Get it!

- I'’m okay. - Meow too.

- Okay, guys,

it'’s time for the skateboard festival.

Hop on your board and make sure it feels okay.

- Okay. [laughs]

- Doing this in the grass will make sure

your wheels don'’t roll too fast.

[playful music]

Mr. Shades! Looking cool.

Nice job, Pixie.

[barks]

Zippy, looking good.

Stuff, looking big and ready! - [laughs]

- Okay, Rocket, hop on and give it a try.

[slide whistle plays]

- Hey, what'’s wrong, Rocket?

- [growls lightly]

- [sighs] Oh, I get it--

first time riding a skateboard.

Rocket, are you feeling a little scared to try it?

- [barks]

- Ah, well, the best way to learn something new

is to take it step by step, slowly...

[chuckles] Baby paw steps.

Okay, step one, you just got to stand on a skateboard.

- [barks]

- Great idea, surfer dude.

You know how to stand on a board better than anyone.

Let'’s do it.

Wait till you see this.

Baby paw step one!

Rocket needs to try standing on a surfboard.

Welcome to the "Mutt & Stuff" beach!

These surfboards don'’t have wheels,

so it'’s a great way for Rocket to practice.

- Mm-hmm.

[surf music]

- Oh, yeah, good. The water is fine.



- Hey, Rocket, surf'’s up.

You'’re doing baby paw step one--

standing on a board!

I mean surfboard.

[chuckles] Way to go, buddy!

- Hiya, it'’s me, Melvin the fire hydrant.

Hey, Rocket, I know a song about a little spider

that never stopped trying.

[clears throat]

♪ The itsy-bitsy spider went up the waterspout ♪

See, he went right up there.

♪ Down came the rain and washed the spider out ♪

You think that rain stopped him?

No, sir.

♪ Out came the sun and dried-- ♪

[laughs]

♪Out came the sun-- ♪ [laughs]

♪ And, uh, dried up all the rain ♪

I can'’t-- Whoa. I can'’t sing.

I can'’t sing. [laughs]

But I bet you can skateboard.

Whoa! Oh, Rocket, I love you.

[laughs]

- Time for baby step number two.

Can any of you guess what it is?

[enchanted music]



That'’s right, Zippy-- balance!

Balance is the most important thing when riding a skateboard.

So that'’s why we'’re gonna try to balance on...

a seesaw.

Okay, guys, we'’re gonna teach Rocket how to balance.

[playful music]



You did it, Rocket.

You learned how to balance.

- Ooh, baby paw step number two,

and I hope our next step is towards a snack.

- Good idea, Stuff. [chuckles]

Before you do any sport, you have to make sure

you fill your stomach with healthy food.

It'’s snack time! - Whoo! Snack time!

[dogs barking]

- Rocket, zoom on over

and start the Bowwow Chow Snack Machine.

[playful music]



Wait for it.

Wait for it.



Bowwow, time to chow!

[dogs barking]

[whimsical music]



Skateboarding with your friends is so much fun.

Okay, Rocket, you know how to get on a board

and balance on one.

Now you need to move on one.

- Baby paw step number three'’s my favorite.

Look at me. I'’m moving--whoa!

- Stuff, are you okay?

- Oh, yeah, I'’m fine, no problem.

[laughs] - [whimpers]

- I think it'’s time for a nose-to-nose.

You know, if you fall down, it'’s okay.

You'’ll just get right back up and try it again.

I have an idea on how to help Rocket learn

to fall down and get right back up.

Let'’s have a get-back-up party!

Whoo-hoo!

[upbeat music]

[chuckles]

I fell down, but it'’s okay.

I got right back up.

- Ooh. - Okay, Stuff, your turn.

- Okay.

I'’m coming down.

Whoo! [grunting]

And I got right back up.

- Come on, guys. It'’s your turn.

Go, Pixie, go.

You did it.



Okay, Rocket, you just got to fall into the ball pit.

You can do it.

You did it.

And you got right back up.

- Hey, Davenport. Davenport!

- Hmm? [shouts]

Oh, hi, Zoe. - Falling down looked like fun.

- Yeah, hey, let'’s try it. - Okay.

both: Whoa!

- Whoa! - [laughs]

Hey, who put this trampoline down here?

- I don'’t know, but I like it.

- Strike a pose. - Whoo.

Whee. - [laughs]

[crash]

- I'’m okay. - Meow too.

[upbeat music]



- Well, what I'’m doing now, guys,

is a safety check to tighten the wheels

on all the skateboards. - Huh.

- While I'’m making sure they'’re nice and tight,

you guys can go have free time.

- Free time! Whoo!

Come on, Rocket.

I'’m gonna play inside my doghouse.

[playful music]

[chuckles] Whoo-hoo.

[enchanted music]

Ahh. Welcome to my doghouse, Rocket.

There'’s a lot of room to play inside here.

[chuckles] Boom.

My favorite place in my doghouse is my big chair

'’cause it'’s the best place to hang out.

So come on. [chuckles]

First, I'’m gonna take off all my skateboard gear

just to get extra comfy.

[humming]

Ugh. Okay, Rocket,

I know it'’s hard to learn something new.

It took me a long time to learn how to wiggle my eyebrows.

Watch. [clears throat]

[mellow music]

[chuckles]

Yep, I had to learn step by step,

one eyebrow at a time. Mm-hmm.

Then I taught Murray the Walrus

to ride a skateboard one step at a time

and look at him now.

Whee!

Yeah, now he'’s coming to wish you some good luck.

"Hey, good luck, Rocket. I know you can do it."

Ye--Oh, okay.

I guess that'’s how you say thanks to a walrus.

It'’s good. I love you, Rocket.

[sighs]

[upbeat music]

- Hey, Rocket. I invited someone

who can help you get ready for the skateboard festival.

- Ooh! Someone who can skateboard?

- No, someone who can brush. - Huh?

[doorbell rings]

- There she is.

- Hello! Groom-a-zoom-zoom!

It'’s me, Gabi Groomer.

- Hey, Gabi. - Ooh, hi, Gabi.

- Gabi'’s the best dog groomer in town.

- That'’s right. Long fur, short fur,

frizzy fur, no fur, I can groom any dog.

Or a pig. I once groomed a pig.

He was so funny. What a ham!

[laughter]

- Welcome to "Mutt & Stuff," Gabi.

We'’re glad you'’re here. Right, guys?

- Yeah, welcome, Gabi.

- [barks]

- Oh, you guys are so nice.

So is today a special occasion? - It sure is.

We'’re going to a big skateboarding festival.

Rocket'’s feeling a little nervous

about skateboarding for his first time.

- Ah, got it.

Well, a little grooming might relax him.

Come on, Rocket. Let'’s get started.

[playful music]

Rocket, I know what it feels like to try something new.

The first time I ever groomed a dog,

I wasn'’t very good at it.

I forgot my brush and had to use my shoe.

[chuckles] Isn'’t that silly?

I know, pretty silly, right?

And then when I realized it was my shoe

and it was a stinky shoe, I had to give the dog a bath.

But I ended up using too many bubbles,

and I gave myself a bath instead.

Can you believe that?

I know, hard to believe.

Anyway, I slowed down and took my time

and took it step by step.

And then that dog came out all nice and clean...

and so did my shoe.

Anyway, I know you'’re gonna do just fine at skateboarding.

I believe in you, Rocket.

[upbeat music]

How about a hug for good luck?



- Wow. Rocket looks great. - Ah.

- Gabi, I hope you'’ll come back and join us again.

- Mm-hmm. - Of course I'’ll come back.

Everyone here at "Mutt & Stuff" is so nice and sweet.

- [barks]

- Oh, and helpful. Thank you.

I love this place.

- Well, here at "Mutt & Stuff," we'’re all part of the pack,

so we help each other out.

- Yes, we do, Stuff.

That'’s what Rocket needs to help him ride a skateboard.

- [gasps] - The help of his friends.

- Wow, Calvin. You really know your dogs.

- And you know your grooming.

- Well, that'’s why they call me Gabi...

all: Groomer!

- That'’s right.

And anytime you need me, I'’ll be here.

Bye, everyone. [bell rings]

Grooma-zoom-zoom.

- Bye, Gabi. - Bye.

- Are you ready, Rocket? When you'’re part of a pack,

and you have your friends by your side,

you can do anything.

[both chanting] Rocket.

[dogs barking] Rocket. Rocket. Rocket.

Rocket. Rocket. Rocket.

- Yeah! - Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!

- Rocket did it! - Awesome!

- You did it. I'’m so proud of you.

Are you ready to go to the big skate festival?

- [barks]

- All right.

Wow. He'’s already on his way to the festival.

We'’ll meet you there!

Paws up, tails out, let'’s go!

To the skate park! [dogs barking]

- Oh, boy!

- Whoo! Have fun at the skate bark.

Ha! You get it?

Because they'’re gonna bark at the skate park.

[laughs] Whoo-hoo!

[upbeat music]

- We'’re here!

It'’s time to skate!

Okay, Pixie, It'’s your turn.

Go for it, adventure dog.

[cheers and applause]

Way to shred it, Pixie.

[cheers and applause continue]

Mr. Shades, you'’re next.

[cheers and applause continue]

Those are some cool moves, Mr. Shades.

Okay, Stuff, time to do your thing.

- [chuckles] I'’m ready to roll.

Whoo!

[chuckles]

[cheers and applause continue]

Whoo! Oh!

Yep! Oh, yeah.

Gravity'’s got nothing on me.

Whoo! Whoo!

[whimsical music]



- You ready, Zippy?

Wait till you see this.

[upbeat music]



- [barking]

[kids cheering]

- Zippy'’s pretty zippy on a skateboard too.



I'’ve got some moves of my own.

[kids cheering]



Okay, Rocket, you took baby paw steps,

but now you'’re ready.

Go for it, buddy.

[upbeat music]



Go, Rocket, go!



[cheers and applause]

Rocket, I knew you could do it.

I'’m so proud of you. Give me paw.

[chuckles]

What a great day.

Let'’s celebrate with a skateboard doggie dance party.

Come on, wag it like you mean it.

for the first time.

And then he realized

that when you have good friends by your side,

you can do anything.

You did it! I'’m so proud of you.

And then we came to the big doggie skate festival!
