[serene, portentous music]

NARRATOR:High above the crashing waves,

Collinwood seems to stand serene

in the clear night air.

But within its walls,

there is only mystery

and fear.

And in the cellar of the old house,

Barnabas Collins

lies chained in a coffin,

unable to witness the frightening events

that take place in the mysterious world

of parallel

time.

Mr. Edwards.

Oh my, Quentin went to look for you,

but he couldn't find you.

What did you want to see him about?

He's very busy right now because he has

a lot of worries on his mind.

But I'm sure he'll be happy to see you.

What is it?

What do you want?

Why don't you say anything?

[portentous music]

Where are you going?

Why do you want me to follow you?

Is this like one of the games

you used to play with Daniel and me?

Wait, I don't wanna lose you like I did upstairs!

Oh, I had to go back upstairs for the keys, sir.

I can take Miss Amy into town now if you'd like.

QUENTIN: Where is she?

She's in the drawing room, sir.

QUENTIN: She's not in the drawing room, Trask.

But I left her there, sir.

You left her alone?

Only to get the keys, sir.

Amy?

Perhaps she went back upstairs, sir,

- to get something she forgot. - You go upstairs

and search for her, I'll look down here.

- I'm sure there's-- - I said go up

- and look for her! - Yes, sir.

Well, she doesn't seem to be upstairs, sir.

Did you find her?

I told you not to let her alone.

Well, sir, she must be here somewhere.

I'll go back upstairs and search further.

AMY: Where are you going?

I don't know if I want to go any farther.

Why don't you tell me where we're going?

[menacing music] [screaming]

[spooky music]

[portentous music]

You think we have to make a search of the grounds, sir?

QUENTIN: Did you look in the attic?

Not yet, sir, but why would she go up there?

Stop asking questions and let's go look.

TRASK: So do you really think that Dameon Edwards--

What did I say about asking questions?

TRASK: Yes, sir.

Wait, sir!

Look!

Amy!

Thank heaven, girl.

Hey now, where did you go?

Why did you leave the drawing room?

I thought it was a game.

A game, what kind of a game?

We used to play games.

But before they never scared me.

QUENTIN: What scared you, Amy?

AMY: I was so afraid.

What happened?

Now, come on, let's go into the drawing room.

You don't have to be afraid, you're with me.

Come on.

- Did you see him? - Trask.

Obviously the girl's half frightened to death.

Now give her a chance to calm down.

Dameon Edwards.

I saw him again.

Come right over here and sit down.

He stood there in the door.

And he asked me to follow him.

He spoke to you?

No.

He just made a motion with his hand.

And so I followed him, and I know I wasn't supposed to,

and I'm sorry, I really am.

That's alright, everything's alright.

So anyway,

I followed him down the stairs, into the cellar.

And I wanted him to say something, but he wouldn't,

so I kept on following him.

But then we went into this room,

and he started walking, toward the wall.

And--

Yes?

What, Amy?

AMY: He disappeared.

Disappeared?

Yes, but through the wall

while I was watching.

Vanished right through the wall.

QUENTIN: Now it's all over.

Everything's going to be alright, don't worry.

AMY: But people can't go through walls,

they really can't. Amy, now listen to me.

You don't have to be afraid.

You know,

I'd like for you to take me to that room.

Now if you're frightened, you don't have to do it.

But I wish you would take me there.

Please.

Alright, but only if you want me to.

Good girl.

Come on.

Do you want me to come along, sir?

That won't be necessary, Trask.

[portentous music]

Now, is this the room?

AMY: Yes.

Now where's the wall where he disappeared?

Right over there.

No, don't go near, please,

something might happen to you! Now, I'm gonna be alright.

I just want to look at it.

- But please be careful. - I will.

[knocking]

Solid enough.

Amy,

now, are you sure he disappeared through this wall?

Yes, I saw it, it was terrible!

Please, can't we go back upstairs?

In just a minute.

No breaks in the stone.

Walls aren't hot.

AMY: Please, Quentin, I don't wanna stay here any longer.

Alright, I just wanted to look at the room.

What does this mean?

Now you try not to think about it.

Come on, let's go upstairs.

How can he walk through the wall?

What kind of a man is he?

QUENTIN: Amy, come on.

I hope I never see Dameon Edwards again.

QUENTIN: Come on.

[portentous music]

Listen, I'm telling you, Quentin saw him.

Amy saw him.

Now, if you're wise, you'll leave Collinsport,

at least for a while.

So that's what you came to tell me?

To leave Collinwood?

Bruno, if the ghost of Dameon Edwards

is roaming around here,

you're not safe here.

Oh, why is that?

TRASK: You know why as well as I do.

Well, suppose you tell me.

Bruno, you could be in very grave danger.

Only me?

Isn't there someone else who could be in danger?

TRASK: I can't believe you're not

taking this seriously, very seriously!

How much did Quentin pay you?

Pay me?

BRUNO: How much did he pay you

to help him get me out of here?

TRASK: Is that what you think?

As a matter of fact, maybe it was even your idea

to fake some story about a ghost of Dameon Edwards.

Was it, Trask?

TRASK: How can you think such a thing?

Because there isn't anything that you wouldn't do

to pick up an extra buck!

Bruno, I'm trying to help you.

Now if you're smart, you'll take my advice and clear out.

As soon as possible.

[chuckling] Sorry, Trask.

You're selling, but I'm not buying.

And you can go tell your master,

Quentin Collins, that I said exactly that.

But, Bruno, there is a ghost of Dameon Edwards

There is no ghost of Dameon Edwards, is that clear?

No ghost! [phone ringing]

Aren't you gonna answer it? [phone ringing]

Whoever it is, I'm not interested.

Well, it might be something important.

I couldn't care less.

Why don't you answer it?

[phone ringing]

Hello?

Bruno.

It's him.

It's Dameon!

He says, "It's only a matter of time."

[panicked, suspenseful music]

Who is this anyway?

Hello!

Hello. [clicking]

[slams]

Hung up, whoever it was.

It was Dameon Edwards, I swear it was.

It was not Dameon, now stop it!

It was, it was Dameon, I'd know his voice anywhere.

He said, he said, "It's only a matter of time,"

Bruno, what are we going to do?

You're gonna stop being hysterical to begin with.

And then we're gonna go see Quentin Collins

and tell him to stop playing his little tricks.

No, Bruno, why won't you believe me?

It was Dameon Edwards-- Now you listen to me,

and you listen very carefully.

Now someone's trying to shake us up.

Someone's trying to break us.

Maybe Quentin, maybe somebody else,

but we're not gonna get shook.

Got that?

We're gonna stay calm and sensible, clear?

Calm

and sensible.

Now get out of here.

[slams]

Alright.

Alright, Bruno, but

when you find out that I'm telling the truth

I hope it's not too late.

For both of us.

[phone ringing] [suspenseful music]

Yes, what do you want?

DAMEON: It's just a matter of time, Bruno.

Just a matter of time.

Who is this?

DAMEON: You know who this is.

It's just a matter of time, Bruno.

Just a matter of time.

I wanna know who this is.

Hello!

Hello!

[slams]

I guess I was hoping you'd ask me to come.

[chuckling] Oh, darling, it would be so dull.

Dull?

Oh, Cyrus, how can you say that?

You know how I feel about you.

Yes, well I...

It's just that it...

Well, what I mean is that it would be business all the time.

I mean I didn't tell you, Sabrina,

because I knew you wouldn't like it, so I...

I mean, I'm just gonna see some old colleagues

and discuss my experiment.

I'm going to go over data with them, and discuss it.

You can understand that, can't you?

I suppose so.

CYRUS: Now, I'll only be gone for a few days

at the very most.

I'll miss you.

John Yeager.

Who's John Yeager?

[suspenseful music]

An IOU

for $?

Yeah. What does it mean?

It means exactly what it says, Sabrina.

I lent

John Yeager $

and he gave me an IOU.

But who is he?

I never heard you mention him.

Well,

John Yeager is an old friend of mine.

The kind that only comes to you when he needs money.

You know the type.

Yes, well, thank you, my dear.

I'm very glad that, I mean I,

I wouldn't want to forget that

John Yeager owes me a lot of money.

[phone ringing]

[elegant piano music]

[heavy breathing]

No!

No!

I don't believe it.

It can't be.

Stop.

Stop!

Go away.

Go away, Dameon.

Go back to your grave.

I know you're here.

I believe it now.

Go away.

Go back to where you came from.

Go back to your grave!

Go away!

[slams]

[heavy breathing]

[scraping]

[menacing music]

No, Dameon, no.

No, Dameon.

No.

No.

No.

[door slams]

It's very late, why don't you let me finish up,

and you just run along.

I don't mind.

[chuckling] Nonsense, now you put in

more than enough work today, as it is.

I'm sure that you have enough to do without cleaning up.

Now, let me do it.

It'll help me relax, honestly.

Are you trying to get rid of me?

[chuckling] Ah, yes.

Yes, because I think that you should go home

because you've been working too hard.

Now just let me work alone tonight.

I think I need it, please. [knocking]

[latch clicking]

Cyrus, I've got to talk to you, Cyrus, you've got--

Sabrina.

Good evening.

Bruno, what is the matter?

Cyrus, can I talk to you alone,

just for one minute?

Yes, I suppose so.

Sabrina was just about to leave.

Sabrina, do you mind?

SABRINA: I'll try my best not to.

CYRUS: Good night, darling.

Good night.

[latch clicking]

Cyrus, you've got to let me stay here.

Bruno, what is wrong?

Cyrus, please, I've got to have a place to stay.

Just let me stay here, just for a little while.

- You can do that can't-- - Here?

I don't understand, Bruno.

Look, I can't explain now, just trust me.

- Just say I can stay here. - What has happened?

Look,

Cyrus, I can't explain.

Just let me stay here.

There's no other place for me to go.

Bruno, Bruno I'm...

No, I'm sorry, Bruno, it's impossible.

I'm sorry.

There's nowhere else I can go, Cyrus.

Please.

Just for a little while, just say I can stay here.

Bruno, this, I-- That room upstairs,

the one that you stay in when you're working late.

Let me stay there, I can stay there for a while,

can't I, just for a while?

Bruno, I cannot let anyone stay here

as long as I'm working on this experiment,

including Sabrina, I have to be for a while.

Listen, I won't come downstairs,

I won't come near the lab.

Just the room, I'll go upstairs,

I'll stay there.

Cyrus, I'm desperate.

- You've got to help me! - Can't you just

- tell me what it is? - Please, Cyrus!

- You're my last chance! - Alright, alright,

alright Bruno, alright.

Alright, but don't come into this laboratory

under any circumstances.

Sure, sure, anything you say,

anything you say. Alright, alright,

now come on, come on.

Remember, don't come into the room.

I promise, I won't, I won't forget.

[foreboding music]

[door slams] [latch clicking]

CYRUS: To bring forward all that is good in man.

To rid him of the impediments of evil.

To fulfill all that is best in his divided nature.

[shouts]

[glass shattering]

[shouts]

[gasping]

[gasping]

[groaning]

[groaning]

Help me, please.

Help.

[gasping]

[groaning]

[screaming]

[groaning]

[shouting]

[menacing music]

[spooky music]
