Welcome to Plum Landing.

So here's our mission from Plum:

observe a small piece of earth and record what we found.

And what I found was...

[grunting]

Okay...

So I was looking at this patch of weeds and thinking,

"Whatever, there's nothing to see."

But then all of a sudden, I found this toad.

He was the same color as the dirt and grass,

so if you weren't paying attention, like this fly...

...you'd totally miss him.

And I was looking at the same weeds,

only I got distracted by a woodpecker

up in the branches.

She sounded like this.

[chirping and pecking]

COOPER: Got it!

Finally!

So I was going to the park,

but I never even got past the front door

because I practically ran into a huge spider web.

And then I noticed a fly rolled up and dead,

and next to him, a moth, also dead.

Two moths, in fact.

Plus three beetles.

I bet that spider had enough food for a year.

Only the spooky thing was, I couldn't see her.

[screaming]

Later, I went back with binoculars

and drew a close-up view.

Super interesting.

So for viewing spiders,

I recommend a field book, binoculars,

and the appropriate protective gear.
