if you think that was fun watch this

between the lions is funded in part by

our ready to learn television

cooperative agreement

from the u.s department of education

through the public broadcasting service

and by the corporation for public

broadcasting i love how you said that

cleo we do have additional funding to

talk about

oh right of course um additional support

is provided by

the park foundation dedicated to

education and quality television

and the civil society institute you know

theo i never get tired of telling people

about our funders

me either i could do it at least once

every day

we do oh yeah right we do

hey now hey

wow here's how

come and read between the lions

[Music]

is

[Music]

you can't catch me happy

the birth

yes very good leona i got the balloons

for your birthday party sweetie

oh excuse me uh mr monkey uh could you

uh put this up for me please oh uh sure

my pleasure hold on tight

okay

okay let's see oh we need streamers

don't you think we should save the

streamers for uh later um

[Music]

[Applause]

okay i think that's enough streamers

thank you

i think i'm ready to party

now i'm ready to party oh what's that

nothing that's my present

no it isn't oh yes it is yes it is kid

let me see

now now now leona look don't you want to

wait until the party starts

then you can open all of your presents

at once oh don't you think that would be

more fun

wait to open it huh

yeah it's called the gingerbread man

oh now that's him there right right on

the cover oh

wow he's so cute

he's the cutest happiest little

gingerbread man i've ever seen

in fact he's the only gingerbread man

i've ever seen

what's a gingerbread man no it's a kind

of a cookie

this is a story about a cookie well uh

yeah yeah but it's no ordinary cooking

no way this is a

very special cookie

can we read it now now are you sure you

don't want to wait until

do the reading look

there's a good choice emma

the gingerbread man by pat hatchman it's

okay

once there was an old man and an old

woman who had no

children so they baked a gingerbread man

[Music]

when they took him out of the oven they

were happy

but then he jumped out of the pan and

ran away

the old man and the old woman ran after

him

but the gingerbread man just laughed and

said

run run as fast as you can you can't

catch me

i'm the gingerbread man and they

couldn't catch him

the gingerbread man ran and ran he ran

past a cow

standing on a patch of grass the cow

said

mmm ooh a gingerbread man

i'm going to eat you but the gingerbread

man

just laughed and said run run as fast as

you can

you can't catch me i'm the gingerbread

man

and the cow couldn't catch him the

gingerbread man ran and ran

he ran past a ram in a carrot patch

the ram said a gingerbread man

i'm going to eat you but the gingerbread

man just laughed and said

run run as fast as you can you can't

catch me

i'm the gingerbread man and the ram

couldn't catch him

just then a fox walked by and said

a gingerbread man i think i'll eat him

but the gingerbread man just laughed and

said

run run as fast as you can you can't

catch me

i'm the gingerbread man

maybe i can't said the fox but if you

try to cross that

river you will surely get wet and

crumbled to pieces

hop on my tail and i'll carry you across

so the gingerbread man did just that

the frog started to swim as he did

his tail dipped into the water and he

said

my tail is getting wet you'd better

climb onto my back

so the gingerbread man did just that

the fox swam on but soon he said

my back is getting wet you'd better

climb onto my

nose so the gingerbread man did just

that

[Music]

man looked back and saw the old man the

old woman the cow

and the ram standing at the back of the

river he

laughed and said run

run as fast as you can you can't catch

me

and that was the end of the gingerbread

man

yeah the end

all right so so so what do you think

great story huh

huh yeah great story but

um well i'm not sure about the ending

well what do you mean oh well i saw the

cute happy little gingerbread man going

into the fox's mouth

uh are they saying the fox ate him

chewed him up

and swallowed him old uh that's right

honey

uh i guess they figured you'd get the

message without showing the actual

chewing and swallowing the message

oh you have the message what message

oh no matter how fast or strong you

think you are

you've got to be on the lookout for

someone smarter who might want to trick

you

yeah you get it now lyanna

yeah i i get it

okay the guests will be here any minute

let's get ready to party party party

hey party party party
