♪ After school they meet to play and sing with happy faces ♪

♪ Barney comes to play with us whenever we may need him ♪

♪ Barney can be your friend too if you just make-believe him ♪

(happy music) (wheels rolling)

- Hi. Did you like the ride Barney? (laughing)

I know! You can sit over here on the shelf.

There you go. - Hi Beth!

- Oh hi Gianna, hi Scott. Wow, look at all the cool stuff.

- Mr. Boyd's gonna be surprised

when he sees how many toys we've brought.

- There's a bunch here already.

- Yeah, it looks like lots of people

brought toys to give away.

- I think it's nice to share

with other kids who don't have any.

- Me too! - This is my favorite hat.

- It's nice of you to give away your favorite hat.

- I see something that goes with that hat.

- Hey, I used to have one of those.

- Well check this out.

- Maybe we can play with our toys

one more time before we give them away.

- Good idea!

- Yeah, let's pretend to be in the Wild West.

I'll be the sheriff of this here town.

- We can be the deputies. - Yeah partner.

I guess we better put these away.

- Yeah. (toys clanking)

- Hey, Barney didn't get a chance to pretend.

- Howdy, Barney! (chimes tinkling)

- (laughing) Howdy, Buckaroos! My there.

Why I look fancier than a cow hand at a barn dance.

- What does that mean, Barney?

- Oh, um, well, that's just cowboy talk meaning

I like my hat and badge. (giggling) Thank you.

Where did these Western toys come from?

- We brought them here today for Mr. Boyd's toy drive.

- Oh. (laughing)

- He's collecting toys to give to kids who don't have any.

- Aw. It's very nice of you to share your toys like that.

- I guess we should put them back.

- Well, excuse me partner,

can you help me with my hat please?

There we go. Oh, and the badge?

- Oh. (laughing)

- (laughing) Thank you. - You're welcome.

- What else can we play with?

- Look! How 'bout this?

- That's only one toy. We need one, two,

three, four, for the four of us.

- (laughing) That's okay. This is the kind of toy

we can all share by taking turns!

- Oh yeah, come on!

- Oh, goody! Look what I found! (laughing)

- Oh, hey, Baby Bop! - Hi, Baby Bop!

- Hi, Barney. Hi, everybody.

- Sissy, you dropped your ball! (laughing)

Oh, hi guys! - Hey, BJ!

- Hey, where did you get that? - I found it.

- Well, I don't think that's yours, Sissy.

- But I found it.

- Did you ask if it belongs to anyone?

- No. I forgot. Um, this isn't anybody's, is it?

- Well actually, it's mine. - Okay.

- But I'm going to give it away!

- Give it away?! - Sure.

Mr. Boyd's collecting toys from everyone.

- Why? - Well, some boys and girls

don't have any toys of their own, Baby Bop.

- So we're giving them some of ours.

- Oh! That's a really nice thing to do!

- Yeah. Everyone needs toys. - That's right, Gianna.

Come see how many there are. Come on! (laughing) (humming)

- Wow! Look at all these toys! - Oh! Cool!

- Oh, goody! I want this one, and this one.

- Oh, um, Baby Bop?

These toys are for children who don't have any.

- Oh! Oh, I wish I had brought a toy to give away.

- Hey! What about your ball, Sissy?

- Oh! My ball! No! No! I play with it all of the time.

- (laughing) I can see why

you wouldn't want to give that away. (laughing)

Just think of all the fun things you can do with a ball!

(happy upbeat music)

(ball bouncing) - Way to go, Beth!

- Yay, Beth! (cheering)

(ball landing) - I made it!

- Yay! (cheering)

- I knew you could do it, Gianna.

- Now you try, Barney!

- Let's see here. Um. Adjust for the wind, and...

There's the distance. Gotta get that, uh...

Tilt of the Earth, and (laughing) too much there

Oh let me see, shake the tail there, and there it goes!

(g*nsh*t f*ring) (ball bouncing)

(crashing) (g*nsh*t f*ring)

(boinking) (sliding flute ascending)

(ball bouncing) (trumpets sounding)

- Whoa. (upbeat music)

- Oh ho, hey guys! Now let me show you

my world-famous basketball move.

- Okay. - Go, BJ. Yeah.

- BJ drives the ball down the center.

- Oh yeah! - He moves left, then right.

Then he spins around, and slam dunk!

(cheering) - And the crowd goes wild!

- Oh, way to go, BJ! - Um, okay. I want to try now.

- Okay, Baby Bop goes over to this way,

and then over to this way,

and then around in a circle, then I'm going

to bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy, bouncy.

And then over here and bounce around in a circle,

and then I'm in this, and I'm, um, I, ooh, uh, um.

Wait a minute. I don't want to give my ball away.


- Yeah, but the only other thing you have

to give away is your yellow blankie, Sissy.

- Oh no! Oh I could never give away my yellow blankie!

No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

- Where is she going?

- Uh-uh. Uh-uh. No way. Whew.

That was a close one. Whoa. Oh, I love my blankie!

♪ I like my blankie ♪ It's very, very yellow

♪ I like it even better than a bowl of jello ♪

♪ When she holds it close, it feels just right ♪

You don't have to give away your blankie.

- Oh, thank you, Barney!

I could never give away my blankie or my ball.

Um, Gianna, are you giving away your lunch box too?

- No, I just brought a snack along.

- Whoa. Oh, I could use a snack about now.

- Me too. - Me too.

- Um, you brought snacks too? - We sure did.

- We'll share them with you. - Yeah!

- You will? Oh goody goody. - Oh that's very nice of you.

- Oh yeah, thanks a lot! - Let's go inside for a snack.

- Okay, what a great idea! - Yeah!

- Goody! I get to- wait. Wait, wait, wait, well, uh-oh.

Wait a minute. Gotta get my ball. Don't want to lose that.

- Oh boy! I can't wait to have a tasty snack!

- Ooh, look at all the yummy food!

- It all looks so good.

- Everyone brought all kinds of healthy snacks.

It's a regular smorgasbord. - Yeah!

- Um, what's a smorgas- (mumbling), that thing you said.

- A smorgasbord is a meal

made up of different kinds of food.

- Do you think there's going to be enough for all of us?

- Whoa-oh-oh, I think so. Whoa.

(chimes tinkling) (excited cheering)

Because I brought some snacks to share too!

- Cool! - Goody!

- Let's see what we have here, uh... Here you go, Scott.

♪ Have a snack, eat an apple or an orange ♪

♪ Have a snack, munch a cherry or a grape ♪

♪ Have a snack, share some celery or carrots ♪

♪ Have a snack, yeah broccoli is great ♪

- Yeah. - And they're so good for you.

- Here, Sissy. That's for you. - Thank you.

- Oh, I really liked sharing your snacks.

- Sharing isn't just about getting something.

It's about giving too.

- I know. Well, thank you for sharing your food.

(group agreeing)

- I'd like to share something,

but if I give my ball away, I'll feel sad.

- Oh, well, uh, I know a story

that will help you understand

how sharing makes people feel good.

- Will it begin with once upon a time?

- (laughing) Oh, absolutely!

Some of the best stories begin with once upon a time.

Come on. I'll show you. Here we go.

♪ Then you know a story will be told ♪

♪ When you hear me say once upon a time ♪

♪ Then a wondrous adventure will unfold ♪

♪ Once upon a time means it's time to pretend ♪

♪ Let your imagination go on a journey ♪

- Aw. - Wow. (giggling)

- Um, what story do you have, Barney?

- Um, it's called the Sharing Hen.

(excited murmurs)

But I may need a little help telling this one.

Would you like to help me everyone?

(group excitedly agreeing)

Okay. Then here we go! Oh-ho! (soft music)

Once upon a time, a kindly old woman

walked down a road on her way to market.

And she had ten eggs tucked away in her basket.

♪ Pickety, pickety, my fine hen ♪

♪ She lays eggs for gentlemen

♪ One, two, three, four, five, six, ♪

♪ Seven, eight, nine, ten

♪ People come from miles away

♪ To see the eggs my hen can lay ♪

- The woman soon met a traveler on the road,

and he didn't look very happy.

♪ Pickety, pickety, woe is me

♪ For I have no eggs you see

♪ My hen got out and ran away

♪ So I have no eggs today - No eggs?

- The lady was happy to share some of her eggs

with the traveler. - Oh good. (giggling)

♪ Pickety, pickety, here's what I'll do ♪

♪ I'll give some of my eggs to you ♪

♪ One, two, three, and four

♪ Now your basket's full once more ♪

- Oh, thank you! - You're welcome.

- The kindly old woman felt very good

after sharing some of her eggs.

But as she walked down the road,

she soon came upon two more travelers.

♪ Pickety, pickety, what to do

♪ We have no eggs to see us through ♪

♪ Our hen got out and ran away

♪ So we have no eggs today

- Again, the woman was happy to share her eggs

with someone who didn't have any.

♪ Pickety, pickety, here's what I'll do ♪

♪ I'll give eggs to each of you ♪

♪ One, two, three, one, two, three ♪

♪ Now you both have eggs you see ♪

- Thank you. Thank you. - You're welcome.

♪ Pickety, pickety, my fine hen ♪

♪ She lays eggs for gentlemen

♪ I gave all her eggs away

♪ But she'll lay plenty more someday ♪

- But many days later,

the same woman traveled down the same road,

and this time, she didn't have any eggs.

♪ Pickety, pickety, my fine hen ♪

♪ She laid eggs for gentlemen

♪ But she got out and ran away

♪ So I have no eggs today

- Soon she saw all three of the same travelers

she had given her eggs to long ago.

Their eggs had hatched and now they all had fine hens.

When they saw the woman who had shared with them,

they repaid her with a gift of their own.

♪ Pickety, pickety, here's what we'll do ♪

♪ We'll give some of our eggs to you ♪

♪ One, two, three, and four

♪ Now you have some eggs once more ♪

- Thank you! - You're welcome.

- No problem. (giggling)

- The kindly woman discovered

that when she shared, she made others happy,

and making others happy made her feel good too.

And when the travelers shared their eggs,

they realized the same thing.

Sharing makes everyone feel great.

- Yeah! (humming)

- The end. - I love that story.

- I do too. (laughing)

- I liked the lady in that story. She was a good friend.

- She certainly was, Baby Bop.

- Oh, she must have been a really good friend

to give all her eggs away.

- Absolutely. - Yeah.

- And she made those other people happy, didn't she?

- She made them very happy.

- Barney, I think I'm ready to share now.

- You don't have to if you don't want to, Baby Bop.

- But you know what? - Hmm?

- I do want to! - Oh, okay.

- Here I go. Watch. Ooh, um, um, ooh. I did it! I did it!

(group cheering)

- That was a very nice thing to do, Baby Bop.

- Yeah. Wait a minute. I don't feel sad at all.

And I don't even want my ball back.

I think someone else should get a chance to play with it.

- Oh, I'm sure it's going to make someone very happy.

(group agreeing) - You're right, Barney.


Sharing does make you feel good inside.

- See, it's not so tough to share your stuff.

(laughing) - Uh-uh.

- It's nice to do.

and a brand new basketball.

- What? A brand new basketball?

- Bye, Baby Bop! Bye, BJ!

- Oh, I'm so proud of you for sharing your toys like this.

And I think we should share one more thing right now.

- You do? - What?

- A great big hug. (soft music)
