♪ Barney's friends are big and small ♪

♪ They come from lots of places ♪

♪ After school they meet to play ♪

♪ And sing with happy faces

♪ Barney shows us lots of things ♪

♪ Like how to play pretend

♪ ABCs and s and how to be a friend ♪

♪ Barney comes to play with us

♪ Whenever we may need him

♪ Barney can be your friend too ♪

♪ If you just make believe him

(slow whimsical music)

- Hi Barney, I wanna show you a house I built.

It's really cool.

There you go Barney.

Right here's good.

I need another one.

A blue one, too much blue.

This can go right here.

Upside down.

- Wow Angela, you made a house big enough for Barney.

- I hope he likes it.

- Maybe you should put a roof on it

in case it rains.

- Good idea.

What can I use to make a roof?

- How about this?

- Great, it's fun to build things.

♪ We've got work to do

♪ Build it up

- These pieces should work.

Can you help me please?

- Sure.

- [Kids] Hey.

- Can we help?

- Sure, we're putting a roof on Barney's house.

- [Cammie] Okay.

♪ How long will it take

♪ When every piece is in its place ♪

- This is fun, isn't it?

- Yeah, it is.

♪ Look what we can do

♪ We've got work to do

♪ Step by step

- Whoa, hi everybody.

- [Everyone] Barney.

- Sorry about that,

I think I got too big for my house.

Would you help me with this roof please?

- Sure.

- Oh thank you.

Someone's been busy with blocks.

- We've been building houses.

Angela's a really good builder.

- So is Nick.

- But your house is bigger.

- My blocks were big

and yours were little.

That's why my house is bigger.

- My house is little, just like me.

- Oh, you're little now Nick

but did you know that you're all getting bigger every day?

- Every day?

- Oh, sure.

Each one of you started out as a little baby

but look how much you've grown.

- And we're still growing.

- [Barney] You're right Cammie.

♪ Growing, we do it everyday

♪ We're growing when we're sleeping ♪

♪ And even when we play

♪ And as we grow a little older ♪

♪ We can do more things

- Gotcha, I'm still the littlest.

- [Baby Bop] Oh no, I can't reach it.

- Oh I think I know who that is.

That sounds like Baby Bop.

- [Everyone] Baby Bop.

- Oh, hi everybody, hi Barney.

- Hi there.

- Barney, can you help me please?

- Sure, what's the problem Baby Bop?

- I want this bracelet but look,

my hand's too big.

See?

It won't fit.

- Oh, I see.

That is a problem.

- I'll get it for you Baby Bop.

My hand is little.

- Thank you Nick.

- Here you go Baby Bop.

- Oh thank you.

- That's very nice of you to help Nick.

- This is just what I wanted.

You can take it off now please.

- [Nick] Oh, okay.

- Can I have that little one please?

- Sure.

- Which one do you want Baby Bop?

- It was.

- There are lots of big and little things in the park.

- Uh huh there are, oh Barney,

look look what I found.

- I wonder what it could be.

- Let's go see.

- [Barney] Okay.

- Come on, come on over here, over here.

Look Barney, this flower is little, see?

Really little.

And this flower is big,

really, really big.

- It's bigger than me.

- And me.

- Let's see, it's almost as big as me.

- What kind of flower is this Barney?

- It's a sunflower Baby Bop.

- And it's my favorite color, yellow.

- Yes it is.

They call it a sunflower because it's big,

round, and yellow, just like--

- [Everyone] The sun.

- Hey guys, look at that.

- [Barney] Oh, what did you find Scott?

- A spiderweb.

- [Barney] Oh you did.

- Oh, is there a big spider on it?

- Well um, I don't think so Baby Bop.

This is just a little spiderweb

so the spider that lives here

is probably little too.

- Well how little?

Teensy weensy?

- Even smaller.

- Maybe it's itsy.

- Or itsy bitsy.

- [Barney] Maybe.

♪ The itsy bitsy spider

♪ Went up the water spout

♪ Down came the rain

♪ And washed the spider out

♪ Out came the sun and dried up all the rain ♪

♪ And the itsy bitsy spider

♪ Went up the spout again

- There he goes.

- Oh I love the little spider.

- Oh, oh, I wanna be itsy bitsy too.

Let's pretend to be little.

- I already know what it's like to be little.

I've been little all my life.

Can we pretend to be something big instead?

- What would you like to be Nick?

- Something really big,

even bigger than Barney.

- What's bigger than Barney?

(elephant tooting)

- [Everyone] Elephant.

- How big is an elephant?

- An elephant is really big Baby Bop.

Elephants are the biggest animals

that live on land.

- Now we're talking big.

- We sure are.

♪ She's big and friendly

♪ Elephant

♪ Wrinkled and gray

♪ Elephant

♪ And with her great big feet

♪ Better get out of the way of the elephant ♪

- You were great elephants.

- Elephant, pretending to be elephants is fun.

I like being big.

Oh, oh I wish I could be a giant.

- I don't think I'd ever wanna be that big.

- Well I would.

- Well in the story of Jack and the beanstalk,

a little boy named Jack met someone really big.

- Who?

- He met a giant.

- A giant?

Oh, this sounds like a really good story.

- Oh it is.

- Can you tell it to us Barney?

- Yeah, please?

- Oh, well I'd be happy to.

Would you like to help me?

- [Everyone] Absolutely.

- Then come on, here's what we'll do.

(slow whimsical music)

Once upon a time in a far away land

there lived a boy named little Jack

and his kind mother.

- Oh little Jack.

- Yes mother?

- Our food is all gone.

- How can I help mother?

- Please take this cow to the market

and trade it for food.

- Okay, come on cow.

♪ To market to market

♪ To trade my poor cow

♪ Home again home again

♪ With lots of good chow

- [Barney] But before little Jack reached the market

he met an old man on the road.

- How much for the cow little boy?

- How much will you give me sir?

- Three jelly beans.

- I'm not sure.

- [Scott] But these jelly beans are magical.

- Magical?

It's a deal.

- Little Jack thought he had made a good deal

but his mother, well, she didn't think

it was such a good trade.

- Look what I got for the cow mother.

- Jelly beans, oh little Jack,

we need healthy food, not candy.

- But they're magical jelly beans.

- These things, they're too little to be magical.

Might as well just toss them out a window.

♪ Toss one jelly bean tidy oh

♪ Toss two jelly beans tidy oh

♪ Toss three jelly beans tidy oh ♪

♪ Toss it out the window tidy oh ♪

♪ Ready set now let it go

♪ Toss it out a window tidy oh

♪ One, two, three, throw

♪ Toss it out a window tidy oh

(upbeat music)

♪ Toss one jelly bean tidy oh

♪ Toss two jelly beans tidy oh

♪ Toss three jelly beans tidy oh ♪

- Well, you'll never guess what happened next.

Can you guess?

That's right, the jelly beans began to grow

and they grew and grew

into a big jelly bean stalk

that reached all the way to the sky.

When little Jack discovered the beanstalk

he did what any little boy would do.

- Woohoo, it's time to climb.


- [Barney] He climbed and climbed up into the sky.

Finally he reached the top of the beanstalk.

- Wow, awesome.

- [Barney] Little Jack had climbed right into a big castle.

He couldn't believe his eyes.

Or his nose.

Little Jack smelled food.

He had to find out where

that delicious smell was coming from.

- Hi, I'm little Jack, who are you?

- I'm the cook.

I work for the big giant who lives in the castle.

- A big giant?

Cool.

- No it's not.

Giants are big and scary

and this giant is having a bad day, very cranky.

Now go.

- But I'm really hungry.

- Oh, okay, have a seat.

- The cook felt sorry for little Jack

so she gave him a quick snack.

But it wasn't quick enough

because before he could finish eating

the big giant came home.

- Yikes, it's the big giant, quick hide.

- Where?

- Here.

Shh.

- Oh, roar, roar.

Fee fi foe fum,

I'm a big giant and here I come.

Oh, oops, wait I'm not big enough,

just a minute, now I'm big

but I'm having a bad day.

No one will play with me

and I stubbed my toe kicking a big rock down the mountain.

See, I got a boo boo.

I mean, I mean I got a boo boo

and I'm not happy roar.

I think, I think I need my blankie please.

Oh thank you, maybe that'll make me feel better.

♪ I like my blankie

♪ It's very very yellow

♪ I like it even better

♪ Than a bowl of jello

♪ When she holds it close

♪ It feels just right

♪ She likes her yellow blankie

♪ In the day and night

♪ I like my yellow blankie

♪ In the day and night

- I think this makes me feel better.

♪ My blankie is so special

♪ And very very yellow

♪ I like to keep it with me

♪ When I say hello

♪ When she holds it close

♪ It feels just right

♪ She loves her yellow blankie

Even giants need a blankie.

♪ My blankie feels so soft

♪ Like a big marshmallow

♪ But I like it most

♪ Because it's oh so yellow

♪ When she holds it close

♪ It feels just right

♪ She likes her yellow blankie

♪ In the day and night

♪ I like my yellow blankie

♪ In the day and night

Oh my blankie always makes me--

Oh I mean, like I said, I'm having a bad day.

- Oh, that's too bad.

- Who's there?

Who said that?

- I did.

- Fee fi foe fum, who are you

and where are you from?

- I'm little Jack and I'm looking for a snack.

- Well I'm a big giant

but I'm having a bad day

because no one will play with me.

- Why not?

- Well they all think I'm big and scary.

- I'm not afraid, I'll play with you.

- Oh goody, goody, can we play right now?

- Sure, you can come to my house

except we don't have any food.

- Oh don't worry, I mean don't worry,

I have enough food for everyone.

- And so, little Jack, the big giant, and the cook,

took food down to Jack's house.

Jack's mother was very happy

that they brought so much food home.

She even invited the old man to join them for dinner.

- Oh, this is wonderful little Jack.


I guess you're not so little anymore.

You're my big hero.

- Thanks to little Jack

everyone had a big feast

and played games all day long.

From then on, the giant continued to share her food.

And they all lived happily ever after.

The end.

Everyone was terrific, good job.

- That was a great story Barney.

- Why thank you Angela.

Jack and the beanstalk is one of my favorites.

- [Kids] Mine too.

- I had fun being little.

- And I had fun being big.

- [Kids] Bye.

- So Nick, do you still think

you'd like to be as big as a giant?

- No Barney, I think I'm happy just the way I am.

- And you should be.

Big or little, you're all wonderful

just the way you are.
