so
thank you
right
welcome to the world of amazing creepy
crawly animals
[Music]
henry what are you doing under there ah
it's yoli narrator well i'm trying to
put this tent up
this i gotta see okay
that should do it and i got all those
poles left over
i don't think you're supposed to henry
but anyway what's with all the
ye oldie stuff glad you asked violet
[Music]
somewhere around here is a rare species
of dragon
scarier striking and i'm going to find
it
oh it makes my skin crawl just thinking
about it
don't move henry there's something
behind you what is it
the dragon what's it doing get it off
get it off
oh what happened there
brave sir henry got frightened by an
invertebrate a what
invertebrate creepy crawlies animals who
have no backbone
like your tent so that's what those
extra poles were for
there are millions of kinds of
invertebrates henry but you can call
them creepy crawlies
see how many you can think of i think
spiders are pretty creepy
you creepy crawly you're right and all
those squishy things in the sea
like nudie branks right again scientists
have divided the animal kingdom into two
different camps
summer camp and snail cat no
animals with and without backbones
snakes are creepy
and i wouldn't go to camp with them but
they've got backbones
well bats are very creepy and they have
bug breath
but they're not creepy crawlies
how about beetles they must be creepy
crawlies
you're right all insects are
invertebrates
they keep their skeletons on the outside
you mean
what i thought was an ant's skin is
actually his skeleton
that's right let's make no bones about
it
that's amazing
[Music]
oh
the brave knight sir henry pursues the
dreadful dragon
through fearsome forests and monstrous
mountains
crossing venomous valleys and raging
rivers right
an ant could cross that no problem but
i'm only little
i'll get my feet wet all right brave
knight why don't you take the easy
option and use this oh no
verily thou art making fun of survive i
shall find the safe way of transporting
myself
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
but henry why don't you just take
good grief for the last time i told you
you could just use the
bridge i know i could use
the bridge
when it comes to crossing water henry i
think you'd better leave the tricky
stuff to our creepy crawly friends
they make it look so easy those animals
are called pond skaters can you guess
why
maybe because they skate on ponds bingo
but wait i don't see any skates on those
guys who are they kidding
they have something better their
microlight bodies don't get weighed down
in the water because a forest of tiny
leg hairs spread the weight across the
water's surface
just like snowshoes i wish i could do
that
sorry henry there are only a few
invertebrates that can do it
this water measurer is another one i'd
get sick of water walking anyway
not if your dinner depended on it
what are they dinner water measurers
love them
i think i'll eat out they're called
springtails
i don't see any springs their springs
are hidden
you only see what they do what do you
mean
wow that's what i call spring break they
sprang to safety
that hop is equal to a man jumping over
a three-story building
the water measuring guy hasn't got a
chance
guess i got that one wrong
but i bet you guessed this one right
henry
a millipede it's kind of like watching a
parade go by
since we call them creepy crawlies i
thought it'd be fun to have a look at
some of the many ways they creep and
crawl
what do you think sounds good let's rock
and roll
and jiggle and
wiggle
the way these creatures get around it
makes me wanna giggle yep
[Music]
then you get your flappers and your
hoppers
your shakers
and your fakers
who's he trying to kid
[Music]
so how was that creepy but cool
[Music]
oh no my tent what is it it's like a
little house with poles but that's not
important right now
looks like you got moths henry moth
schmoths
this be the work of the fire breathing
dragon
moths can be pretty damaging and there
are lots of other creepy crawlies that
bite and sting
there's hornets and spiders and
scorpions and bumblebees
and some so small you can barely see
them like fleas
and mosquitoes
ah safe at last
don't speak too soon henry oh no
[Music]
every animal has to eat henry and it's
not just mosquitoes that take on
oversized meals
this fishing spider is looking to land a
whopper
you mean a big fish don't you yes
it's using its front legs is bait
come on spiders can't catch fish you
don't think so
wow
that's truly amazing but i'm
not sure i like its table manners
at least they're better than the house
flies they really take the cake and the
meat
and the pizza and that little thing your
dog leaves behind
too before they can eat flies must throw
up all over their dinner turning it into
a liquid which they can suck up through
their straw-like mouths while they're
mucking up your taco they're laying eggs
in your enchilada
and that's why we say
but if you think flies are a living
nightmare then get a load of this jewel
wasp she's a body snatcher what
she's just building a nest for the jewel
wasp her nest doubles as a tomb
oh no how far perhaps this
unfolding c*ck the c*ck must
be 10 times bigger than she
is but the wasp injects a paralyzing
poison
and then cuts off the c*ck's
antenna making it easy to pull it into
the nest
welcome to wasp motel gets chicken
and then they throw away the key you're
right henry
the wasp seals up her prisoner behind a
wall of pebbles
buried alive in a terrible tomb all
alone with no food
no water no cable tv well not quite
alone
there's a wasp egg in there too so he'll
have something to eat
in this story the egg does the eating
what when the egg hatches the wasp
maggot burrows into the roach's living
flesh
only emerging as an adult wasp when it
has devoured the entire c*ck from
the
inside out excuse me but that's
disgusting and that's no way to treat
your babysitter
either
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
henry it's time for your news report
what now yes now
out of my way germa lizard coming
[Music]
through
in business the crack market fell
sharply
and koala climbs to hey who hate rewind
[Music]
but now our top story
an alien invasion was unearthed in the
local park today
scientists believe the little critters
have been crawling around
unnoticed since the dawn of time
although local residents were told not
to panic pandemonium had set in
the pigeons were petrified the starlings
were startled
and the rabbits were nowhere to be seen
the dogs were ducking down the ducks
were cracking up and the squirrels went
nuts
one eyewitness brave enough to look
described the strange alien heads as
having huge jaws
big bug eyes with giant antennae on top
as the alien army headed for the picnic
area the question on everyone's lips was
why have they come what do they want
from our planet the answer it would seem
ham sandwiches
and next the weather the weather the
weather i got it right
or whether i got it wrong take a guess
rats
just have a look around henry the truth
is out there
alien invasion e.t phone home but not on
my mom and dad's line okay
these are insects henry not aliens but
how can you be so sure
aliens are portrayed with these praying
mantis eyes
but the truth is stranger than fiction
even science fiction
the jumping spider has eight eyes
including two in the back
handy for driving the ufo backwards
creatures come plenty weird right here
on earth like the lantern moth
alien pardon it's an alien
look at that huge head it has eyes on
the back of its wings
eye spots may have evolved to scare
predators into thinking the moth is much
bigger
that's one theory oh well what's yours
they've come from space to conquer the
earth
check this guy's head out
[Music]
his alien brain's too big so he
transforms when no one's looking
henry that's a titsy fly from the planet
planet earth and it does that to help
break out of its pupa case
i think you're one of them an alien
narrator
you've come for me haven't you ah earth
creature
you are making me very irritated
what's the matter henry can't get to
sleep what
i said what's the what
i can't hear you i can't sleep with all
these
crawly creeps making a racket ow
of course you realize this means
w*r you can't win henry
try turning the light off nocturnal or
nighttime insects
are attracted to light i'll try anything
that's better time for some shut-eye
ah at least now i've got nothing to
attract those infernal nocturnal bugs
the knight is alive with creepy crawlies
henry
and the animals which hunt them
a full moon really brings the night
shift to life
especially the moths a dedicated moth
hunter
the bola spider secretes a ball of glue
so sticky that for moths one touch and
you're stuck
that's super glue like a fisherman the
spider waits patiently for a nibble
shh you'll scare him
got one reel him in spidey the
glue contains an identical scent to the
one female moths use to attract the
males
doom perfume male moths pick up that
smell from several kilometers away
a lot of good it did him he's in a
tailspin
now those moths are big those aren't
moths
they're bats oh south american
vampire bats hold on this show's about
creepy crawlies vampires don't eat bugs
they suck blood look a little closer
henry
it's covered in lice the lies survive by
sucking blood from this blood-sucking
bat
that's called getting a taste of your
own medicine
and now ladies and gentlemen
it's time for henry's amazing golden
gecko awards
the winners of my all-time best creepy
crawly animal
are
my place goes to that bouncy little
bunny from teeny tiny town
the springtail
in second the fishing spider who
couldn't be with us tonight because he's
you guessed it going fishing
[Music]
tonight's golden gecko award for best
kitty crawly goes to a group with nearly
half a million hit species to their name
the most successful band on the insect
charts the beatles
on a magical mystery tour of shapes and
colors
the hercules beetle has a massive
foreign section but our spotlight
tonight is on the fearsome
tiger beetle why they named it after a
tiger when it's got spots i'm not sure
but with jaws like that no ladybug is
going to stop and ask questions
the tiger beetle is the fastest beetle
going but it has to stop all the time
its legs are so fast its brain can't
cope
and the beetle goes blind it needs to
slow down just so its brain can catch up
again
even with all those brain breaks it's
still too fast for the ladybug
lucky for her she's too big for a
mouthful and too
tough to crack but the beatles got to
eat to survive
how about a nice juicy caterpillar poor
guy
his chances of ever becoming a butterfly
just went way down
too late he's beetlejuice so there you
have it
the tiger beetle collects tonight's
award but remember he's only one of
thousands of other beetle winners
he just happened to get here first
[Applause]
[Applause]
hmm
[Applause]
brave sir henry has captured the
dragon caught off guard sleeping in his
lair
the dragon's lair wow you are being
brave henry
are you sure you've got everything under
control oh yeah
well just in case i made this the
ultimate dragon trap
even an invincible dragon couldn't get
through this
no but an invincible insect might insect
look i'm hunting dragons here and you're
still on about itty bitty creepy
crawlies
what can they do against my magnificent
trap
oh what now that's what i call
invincible
those termites sure know how to eat
through wood
[Music]
but now that the dragon can escape
it's not a dragon it's a dragon fly
huh but
what no scariest giganticus no
invincible dragon
no henry but dragon flies belong to a
group of animals that have been around
for millions of years
in their own way they are just as
invincible as dragons
and such a cute little thing
[Music]
dragonflies got their start way back
when much of the earth was covered in
swamps
back when you were just a little
narrator
i mean before the time of dinosaurs very
few of the animals that lived today were
around them
what about lizards no lizards
[Applause]
but there were dragonflies the first
insect to ever fly
what did they look like just the same
four
see-through wings and a body split into
sections
head shoulders knees and toes knees and
toes
it goes head thorax and abdomen
but they weren't all exactly the same
there was one kind that grew up huge
with a wingspan the size of a chicken
what happened to them did they get fry
time marches on henry
species come and species go
[Music]
just imagine all the changes dragonflies
have seen
volcanoes the drift of continents floods
the fall of dinosaurs frozen yogurt
huh but insects are a force of nature
too
they have the advantage of sheer numbers
for every person on the planet
it's believed there are 200 million
creepy crawlies
somebody shut the door people in africa
and the middle east
have always dreaded locusts like the
plague in one day a swarm of locusts can
eat through enough crops to feed
500 people for a whole year that's why
people created pesticides
from the number of bugs i've seen i
guess they don't work too well
now you're right many insects like these
leaf cutter ants learn to adapt and live
right alongside us
evict those pesky insects at once we
can't get rid of them all remember we
rely on many of them to pollinate the
plants that provide us with oxygen
true but they can still ruin a picnic
like nothing else
ah time to go home sweet home
and where there's not a creepy crawly in
sight
that's what you think henry no way
no uninvited invertebrates at my house
buzz off puff
you can't win against invertebrates you
should know that by now
they're everywhere every how and always
have been
you can't fight them that doesn't mean i
have to like them
face it henry there's nowhere you can go
that amazing creepy crawlies can't
follow
at least i found out there are no real
dragons around here
that's some comfort i suppose
[Music]
[Music]
you
