hi there ever seen a pizza go from mini

snack to

party size in just one easy second

well now you have hey henry what do you

call that thing

it's the new sizeo medic from henrico

it makes food bigger not available in

stores anywhere

but this shows about tiny animals no

problem with the sizo medic

how about a cabbage the world could do

with less cabbage

maybe this is where brussels sprouts

come from

[Music]

no henry stay off of there why

oh no

henry where are you honey

i shrunk myself what the you said you

wanted tiny animals didn't you

i didn't mean you had to become one tiny

animals already outnumber big animals by

a

long way now you tell me

if you look closely you can find tiny

animals nearly

everywhere it's as if there were a whole

different world down there

right under our noses

a world where clothes don't fit and all

the drinks are

extra large with over a million known

species and counting

insects prove you could be big and tiny

at the same time

or if you're a big lady spider you can

have a tiny mate

you get some teeny tiny tree frogs what

a cute little hopper

and this the world's tiniest snake so

small its eyes can barely see

i can't believe my eyes what's next

a teeny tiny dog no this is a normal

sized dog but he's host to some

teeny tiny insects fleas little rascals

but look through a microscope at a

single drop of seawater henry

and you'll see even tinier animals

see-through

sea creatures how amazing

so how does it feel being minuscule

amazing look at the size of everything

look at my toys hmm

this puts a whole new perspective on my

game

hey cool i can finally see what's under

my bed

yup i wish i hadn't seen that what was

uh crispy golden hoops of wheat with

just a hint of mold

i forgot to clean up my old cereal bowl

looks like someone's on the job already

a mouse squam you pest

wait a minute i've got an idea

now come on you're a watchdog what do

you think i pay you for

hi mousey nice place you've got here

it looks like you're the intruder now

henry i'm no intruder not in my

own house i just want to survive just

like any animal

but somehow the smallest ones always get

called

pests now is that fair

maybe not but what would you call a

spider who popped up every time you

wanted to take a bath

how about clean this woman has just that

problem

why'd she worry at least the spider's a

girl the biggest ones are females you're

right

this one must think she's in a terrible

flood never fear henry

this spider holds the secret to survival

which is why she came here in the first

place

she comes indoors for the winter making

her way up through cracks and down drain

pipes and

into the warm house ah

it's all clear to me now

just like that bathtub

and those pipes right you can see how

the spider is high and dry

out of the water and making her way up

to the overflow drain

i just had an idea for a spin-off series

called amazing plumbing

what do you think spiders might like it

because when the bath is let out and no

one's looking

they could drop in and watch it it'll be

great

because the ratings will never go down

the drain

mice are often labeled as pests too i

don't see a label

and labels don't stick to fur anyway you

know what i mean henry

mice are famous for squeezing through

tiny holes to get at people's food

they can condense their body into the

thickness of a pencil

anybody seen any cheese around here

cancel that never mind nobody in here

but us shoelaces

cats are highly adapted for honey what

shoe shine brushes no

not interested mice came from the wild

but they moved in with man 10 000 years

ago

and they still don't have their own room

with the stuff of a butterfly and the

speed of a bee

henry the lizard dives into a jungle of

tall grass

that dog will never find me in here i

wouldn't be too sure

this is wild incredible

i never knew i had a jungle right here

in my own room

jungle animals even there's another

afraid so henry that's no jungle that's

your dog

i never knew i could be so irritating

talk about a hair-raising experience at

least it's a good hiding spot

she'll never find me in here

you want to see some champion hiders

henry there are dozens

in this chest what in the drawers

no behind it uh-uh

well where are they inside the wood

animals inside those teeny weeny holes

that's right

the larva of the furniture beetle excuse

me

that's no beetle larvae are beetle

babies henry

and they're the ones who bore holes

through wood

as human life speeds on outside the

larvae slowly eat away

taking up to three whole years to reach

adulthood

and only when they're adults do they

bore their way to the surface

so it's official adults are

boring not to each other they aren't

henry

the male knocks on a female's tunnel to

invite her to the surface

and then after only minutes out in the

open he leads her to a hole in the wood

where she can lay her eggs and the whole

cycle starts again

more members for the drill team coming

tonight the bird who can't keep a secret

and hat day highlights

but now our top story

live from the latest grand opening for

floating fast food chain

plankton palace it all began

in the backyard of brothers fido and

zooplankton

coming from their humble single-celled

background they started out small

selling burgers to barnacles colada

coral

and chips to fish but they never took

their eyes off the prize

a worldwide food chain of restaurants

where the stars come out to dine you can

eat for just a couple of clams

and the ice cream floats when they say

billions and billions serve

they need it

and next the weather the weather the

whether i got it right

or whether i got it wrong take a guess

rats cheer up henry it was better than

usual

it was the food chain in plankton really

do exist

see i told you hang on

plankton aren't businessmen

phytoplankton are tiny one-celled plants

the simplest form of life on earth they

use

green pigment called chlorophyll to turn

sunlight into food

wow that sets the whole food chain into

a world

the phytoplankton are eaten by

zooplankton

our old friend smile for the camera zuo

zooplankton are tiny animals that float

around eating the plant plankton

that makes them the second link in the

food chain

water is full of plankton so little fish

eat them becoming the next link in the

chain

then when big fish eat the little fish

another link in the chain which takes us

to the top of this particular chain the

eagle

and that's our link to a cartoon

okay mousy i know you're hungry and i'm

hungry too

well i happen to know of one very large

pizza on the table

that has our names on it

not both our names just mine in

pepperoni

but what matters is the taste are you

with me

what it looks like you're out of luck

hey mousino send me down that nice

mozzarella pizza

henry are you okay

being small does have its advantages

you don't have to tell that to the

oxpecker bird they use their size to get

both a free ride

and a free meal

oxpecker so what are those

underwater oxen they're hippos henry

bathing in a river

and the oxpecker is eating all the ticks

and other insect parasites it finds

feeding on the host animal

so why not call the bird a hippo pecker

instead

oh oxpeckers have all kinds of customers

for their tick picking service

bird on your head is worth three in the

bush

don't forget to peck behind the ears now

oxpeckers move from animal to animal and

not only eat tiny blood suckers as they

go

but gather hair to line their nests with

i go for natural fibers myself

there's no place they won't look in

their search for ticks

doesn't that get annoying for the hosts

ticks are itchy and dangerous spreading

deadly disease

so even this treatment's a better option

oxpecker party of 30 your buffalo's

ready

yes we're very busy today's special is a

tick frickazzy with flea pate on a

gretinay of fur

or you might pick a nice juicy buffalo

burger they're very fresh

and now ladies and gentle lizards

it's time for a henry's amazing golden

gecko awards

the winners of my all-time best amazing

tiny animal

are in third place

this snake is so tiny she actually looks

up to the earthworms it's the thread

snake

and in second place when it comes to

getting into a tight spot

this guy can do it's the

mouse but tonight's golden gecko award

for most all-around talented tiny animal

goes to

spiders a real giant of the teeny tiny

world

spiders can spin webs up to 20 times

their own size

in just a few hours a thread of spider

silk

is even stronger than a thread of steel

able to stand a force of 4

000 times the weight of the spider when

it's baby making time

they can produce tiny spiderlings in

their hundreds spiders are also helpful

eating thousands of plant pests like

aphids making them a real

gardener's friend

and of course they're not too shy to

come inside for a visit

or make themselves right at home inside

a brick wall like this tiny tube spider

here's the lady of the house waiting for

prey to come her way

she spins a tube-shaped web to line her

layer

complete with a set of tripwires which

tell her when prey

is stepping up to the old spidey welcome

mat

each tug on that thread shakes the web

and tells the spider

just where to attack

gotcha done slurping she chucks the

crunchy skeletons onto her scrap heap

i just hope our winner doesn't do that

with her golden gecko award

all right henry i think it's time to

switch on the sizomatic and get you back

to normal

well normal for you that is smart guy

it's been fun but when you've gotta grow

you've

gotta grow i'll miss your little guy

go on buddy that must be the zoom set it

to 100 times bigger

am i growing am i big yet well henry

there is a lot more of you

all right and they're all behind you

what what wow

have you ever seen so much handsomeness

in one place

but what am i going to do with all these

mini me's uh

start a fan club a chorus line or better

yet

both

brothers i've got a hundred of them not

many creatures can replicate themselves

that quickly henry

but some of the tiniest ones come pretty

close

under the sea just offshore is where

you'll find a coral reef

wow what cool looking seaweed

those are animals henry

that's an animal millions of super tiny

ones

all bound together and stuck to the

seabed that's no kind of life for an

animal

they need to swim free they can't

so to reproduce they must set millions

of gametes afloat in the current

what's a gamete damn sandwiches gammon

eggs

no henry gametes are sperm and eggs

put two together and you get a new life

put millions and millions together

and you eventually get a new section of

coral reef which can go on for miles

wow for animals that are going nowhere

those corals sure do get around

on the other hand henry the iris fly has

a different approach to reproduction

iris fly

flying flowers excuse me you're kidding

these are iris flies they have a long

proboscis through which they drink

nectar from irises

a flower that no other insect can reach

after mating the female

fly lays only a few eggs which she

always places next to a trapdoor spiders

hideout

sounds dangerous it is

for the spider that's the iris flies

larva

but it's tiny sometimes the smallest

creatures present the biggest threat

the fly larva needs a safe place to

mature and feed

and it intends to find one inside the

spider's body

i can think of better places a pizza

parlor perhaps

without even being noticed the larva

crawls up the spider's leg

and winds its way into a leg joint at

least a spider still has seven

healthy legs not for long

hosting a fly larva will soon k*ll the

spider

once the fly eats it from the inside out

for spider she should have kept her big

trapdoor shut

adios

good luck see ya saying goodbye so soon

it's time for them to go forth and get

their own tv shows

and it's time for me to grow up tell me

about it
