I like the hairdo.

Hello, everyone.

I'm Henry the Octopus,
and I live in the sea.

I swim around all day with
my underwater friends.

Swimming comes
naturally to an octopus.

But if you live on the land, you
probably need to learn to swim.

That's what Wags
the Dog thought,

anyway, when Dorothy
the Dinosaur saw

him practicing the other day.

Wags was practicing lots
of different strokes.

The only trouble was he wasn't
practicing them in the water.

Still, it's a start, I suppose.

Yay.

[fun music]

Ruff.

Ruff.

Ruff.

Ruff.

What are you doing, Wags?

I'm practicing some
swimming strokes.

Don't you need water
to practice swimming?

Well, yes, you do.

But there's no water
here to swim in,

so I thought I'd just practice
some swimming strokes.

Then when I go into the
water, I'll know what to do.

I'm not sure if you can
really practice swimming

until you get into the water.

I know practicing in the
water would be the best.

But if I've practiced
some strokes first,

I'm sure that'll help.

Hmm.

So what strokes
are you practicing?

Can you show me?

Of course, I can.

First of all, I
step on the block,

then I put my front
paws like this,

and then I jump in the water.

[splash]

Oh.

And that's when you start
practicing your strokes.

That's right.

Ruff.

First, I do dog paddle.

[boing, boing, boing]

That's pretty easy for
me because I'm a dog.

[giggles] And what
other strokes do you do?

There's freestyle.

When I get that right, I'll
be able to swim really fast.

Anything else?

There's breaststroke.

And there's butterfly.

Is that all?

No, there's one more.

[whooshing]

Oh, what's that one called?

It's called backstroke because
you lie on your back to do it.

Well, you're certainly getting
a lot of practice in, Wags.

Can you swim, Dorothy?

[giggles] No.

I don't think dinosaurs
are meant to swim.

But I always wear a life jacket
when I go near the water.

That's sensible,
but you should really

think about learning to swim.

It's not hard when you
get the idea of it.

Hmm.

Maybe one day.

Can I come and watch when you
finally get into the water?

I'd like that.

But if you don't
mind, I really do need

to get on with my practice.

You can watch if you like.

I could do more than that.

Dorothy the Dinosaur too.

It's a bookmark, and it
has roses all over it.

That'll be very handy
when I'm reading a book.
