02x10 - Farm Fresh Feline/Inside Eddie Gourmand

Post by bunniefuu »

[snoring] [clock ringing]

[upbeat music]

[chase music]

[Jon] Come back here!

We are going to stay with my brother on his farm,

and that's that!

[chase music]

[screaming]

That's not that!

That's cruelty to pussycats!

Send me to prison!

Lock me in a room with Nermal for a month!

Just don't make me spend a weekend on the farm!

[screaming]

My brother is expecting us!

[crashing]

[Garfield] No! No!

Not a weekend on the farm!

Anything but a weekend on the farm!

[horn] [barking]

[engine starts]

[tires screeching]

[mooing]

No pizza delivery! No TV!

No pizza delivery and TV!

Nothing to do but watch cows burp!

I told Doc Boy we'd all pitch in and help with chores.

[horrified] Chores?

[Garfield] And another thing!

They have roosters that wake you up at the crack of dawn!

[door slamming]

[country music]

Wait. I need to lock my car.

[key beeping] [car beeping]

You really got rid of your TV set, Doc Boy?

You can't get your chores done if you're watching TV.

And, and, and... don't call me Doc Boy.

Doc Boy, Doc Boy!

I don't care how much Garfield hates it.

Everyone on the farm has to pitch in to do chores.

Now, what is he good at?

Eating lasagna, sleeping, eating more lasagna...

[mooing]

You can only hear the sound of my voice.

If you understand, say "Moo."

Moooooo!

Oh, this is Dr. Whipple.

I hired him to do...

Uh, what do you call it, Doc?

Subliminal bovine mesmerization

to induce a higher sucrose component

in the lactose output.

Moooooo!

Yes, I'm hypnotizing the cows

so they'll give sweeter milk.

Isn't that right, cow?

Moooooo!

It's all a matter of planting the proper suggestion

in the cow's mind, you see.

So as to cause a change in behavior.

Change in behaviour, huh?

Doctor, would that work on a cat?

Maybe to make him happy to be working on a farm?

Cat on a farm?

Hmmm... I don't see why not.

Moooooo!

You know what they want me to do?

Chores! Cats don't do physical labor.

That's why they invented people.

I can't be less happy.

[Jon] Oh, Garfield.

We have a little surprise for you.

We were thinking,

we know how much you love to watch TV.

TV! Almost as good as Italian food.

[beeping]

So our friend Dr. Whipple here

has a special kind of TV for you.

They're trying to hypnotize me,

but it won't work.

I'm too smart to be hyp...

[snoring]

He's fast asleep.

Garfield asleep?

What a novelty!

Garfield! You are not a cat.

You are... a monkey!

-[fingers snapping] -Can you believe these guys?

They think I'm a m...

[monkey sounds]

[jungle music]

He's running away!

After him!

[Odie barking]

[monkey sounds]

Dr. Whipple, make him think he's a cat again!

Are you sure, Jon?

Bananas are a lot cheaper than lasagna.

You're right, Odie. Dr. Whipple?

Garfield!

You are no longer a monkey!

[monkey sounds]

Hey! He actually thinks he can turn me into a monkey!

[screaming]

[crashing]

Sorry about that, Garfield.

But you passed the test.

Yes!

So now,

you can only hear the sound of my voice

and you will obey.

If that is so, say "Meow."

Meow.

Very good!

When you hear the sound of this horn, Garfield,

you will become the most enthusiastic,

hard-working farmhand in the world.

I will love farming.

And when you hear the horn again,

you will not love farming.

I will not love farming.

-[horn] -You're wasting my time with all this.

Time that I could be spending doing something important,

like sleeping.

-[horn] -I have chores to do!

[country music]

I have to pitch the hay!

[logs crumbling]

I have to chop the firewood!

I have to gather eggs!

[cackling]

You look amazed.

We are.

I've seen flying saucers.

I've seen the Loch Ness Monster.

But I never thought I'd see Garfield working.

Wow!

I have to water the horses!

Jon, he's the greatest farmhand I've ever seen.

[bell ringing]

[neighing]

It'll be faster this way!

Looks like we can take it easy, Doc Boy.

Sure thing.

Let's all go in and have lunch.

[mooing]

And don't call me Doc Boy.

[Jon] Doc Boy, Doc Boy!

Oh, wait. I have to go plant corn now.

He's plowing the north forty.

[crispy sound]

Great sandwich.

Hey, I thought you stored your TV in the barn.

I brought it in.

We can watch it now that I have Garfield to do all the chores.

Now, he's plowing the south forty.

This'll be great.

I've missed all my favorite shows.

Now he's plowing the west forty

and the east forty at the same time.

Dr. Whipple, how long will Garfield be doing all this?

Until he hears another horn like this one.

[Odie laughing]

[chicks chirping]

After this,

I have to put new mud in the hog's pen,

then give them all sponge baths!

[car beeping]

-What have I been doing? -[car beeping]

I love to farm! I must farm!

[car beeping]

-What am I saying? I hate chores! -[car beeping]

No! Must do more chores.

[car beeping]

Jon, your car alarm's going off.

Yeah, it does that every once in a while.

It'll stop in a minute or so.

I have to pick up all these vegetables

and get them into the proper bins.

-[car beeping] -Vegetables!

What am I? A rabbit?

-[car beeping] -I'd better fix the roof on the barn!

[car beeping]

What am I doing?

I'd have to be dumber than Odie to climb up there and fix that roof.

[car beeping]

[car beeping]

How about that?

I'm dumber than Odie.

And just as clumsy!

[screaming]

[crashing]

It's that hypnowhatzis ray.

That's what did this to me.

[malicious music]

[mewing]

[peaceful music]

[pop music on TV]

[laughing]

Hand me another sandwich, Jon.

Here you go, Doc Boy.

Thanks, and...

Well, you know.

Right. Don't call you Doc Boy.

And now, ladies and gentlemen...

We interrupt this program for this!

Garfield!

-[Odie barking] -He's got my mesmerizing device!

He... he...

[workout music on TV]

All right, everybody! It's time

to work out! Do everything I do!

One, two! One, two!

One, two! One, two!

[all] One, two! One, two!

One, two! One, two!

One, two! One, two!

Gee, I wonder what else is on.

The monster is loose!

Run for your lives!

[all screaming]

[Jon] Run for your lives!

Let's see.

I'm sure it's on about now.

Ah, here it is! Channel !

It's important to take care of your cat,

to make sure he has everything he wants.

Pamper him.

Give him the food he needs.

Make sure he has a good place to sleep.

You know? I'm starting to really like it here on the farm.

Fan faster, Odie.

I'm getting kind of warm.

[upbeat music]

[snoring] [clock ringing]

[upbeat music]

[joyful music]

Oh, hi.

We're having a dinner party to celebrate.

Well, it's kind of a neat story what we're celebrating.

So, why don't I tell you about it?

It started yesterday.

We were at Vito's and he was especially happy.

[Italian music]

[Vito humming]

Ah, one Vito's special

for my favorite customers!

You seem overjoyed today, Vito.

Woohoo, I am!

You know the great food critic, Eddie Gourmand?

Well, on his show today,

he is going to give me another great review!

Oh, it is time!

Oh, oh!

Today, I'm going to tell you about a place called Vito's Pizzeria.

You, listen to this man!

He knows!

It stinks.

-[gasping] -[Mr. Gourmand] Flat,

disgusting pizza.

The crust tastes like, hmmm...

paper, yeah, a paper plate, only burnt.

And don't get me started on that miserable excuse for cheese.

It tastes like mud but with less flavor.

Also, I think the pepperoni is rented.

[customers screaming]

[mooing]

I am ruined!

You're not ruined, Vito.

You're still a great chef.

Hey, how about making my cat ten lasagnas?

I shall never make lasagna... again.

[choking] [coughing]

[Garfield narrating] The thing was, Eddie Gourmand wasn't just

insulting Vito's fine cuisine,

he was cranky about everything.

That new hamburger stand on th Street,

It stinks, too.

In fact, all hamburger stands stink.

And so does th Street.

And the entire west side of town.

And this show.

And that ugly shirt my stage manager is wearing!

It stinks! I quit!

Wow!

[Garfield] What got into Eddie?

That's what we wanted to know.

He'll be so glad to see us.

What do you want? I don't care what you want!

Did you bring me anything? No?

Well then, just leave me alone!

Don't you think that was kind of odd?

Not really.

It's my standard greeting for Nermal.

[Garfield narrating] It turns out, we'd interrupted a call from Eddie's boss.

All right, all right, if you insist.

I'll go to this doctor you know.

Hey, I need you to drive me to see this doctor,

and step on it!

Am I ever that annoying, Odie?

[Odie muttering]

Don't answer that.

[Garfield narrating] So Jon drove Eddie to this doctor and we waited outside.

Tell me, Mr. Gourmand.

Why are you so hostile lately?

Hostile? What idiot said I was hostile?

And by the way, this couch is uncomfortable and ugly!

[scratching paper sound]

Excuse me one moment, please.

Who picked out these drapes?

Something is bothering your friend

but I can't get him to tell me what it is.

Isn't there anything you can do?

He's usually not like this.

There's one thing I can try.

It's a new invention

that lets us get inside the patient's brain.

[Odie muttering]

Don't worry, boy.

No one would ever get inside your brain.

First of all, they'd have to find it.

[moaning]

[snoring]

[Garfield narrating] They waited until Eddie took his nap,

then they wheeled him into the lab

and put this device on his head.

Let me see if I have this straight.

This machine lets you actually crawl into his memory?

Well, not actually into it.

I'm too large to fit down the psychic tunnel

it opens into the mind.

If I were smaller, I could get down there.

I'll just have to peek.

[electronic sound]

We'll go back into his memory

and see what it is that's troubling him so.

The psychic tunnel is opening.

[Garfield narrating] And this cat's going in for a close-up look.

[suction sound]

[screaming]

[Garfield narrating] It felt weird going through Eddie's mind,

like falling into beef stroganoff without the noodles.

[screaming]

[children screaming]

[Garfield narrating] And suddenly, there I was in his past.

[children giggling]

I wonder which one of these kids is Eddie.

[Eddie] Throw me the ball, someone!

Hey! Yoohoo!

[Garfield narrating] And there's my answer.

He seems to be a most unusual child.

When I grow up, I want to be a fireman.

When I grow up, I want to be a nationally famous food critic.

[Garfield narrating] He seemed to be off to a good start.

[peaceful music]

The tuna noodle casserole was a bit overcooked

and the carrots had a touch too much salt.

But the tapioca pudding gets stars !

How did he learn so much about food?

[Eddie] More supper, mom! More supper!

[Garfield] Oh, that's how.

Here, Eddie dear!

The roast turkey is done just the way you like it.

The giblets are spectacular!

Did you make your fabulous stuffing?

Of course, I made it!

And my award-winning biscuits

that make your taste buds tingle! [laughing]

You are the best son in the world!

[giggling] You are the best mother in the universe!

This conversation is almost enough to k*ll your appetite.

[Eddie] Hey, kitty !

I don't know where you came from but would you like to join me?

There's plenty, mmmm!

[delighted laughter]

Notice I said "almost."

[laughing]

[Odie muttering]

You're right! It's Garfield!

Garfield, what you are you doing inside Eddie's memory?

You come out of there right now!

No! I like it in here!

More of your creamy and delicious mashed potatoes, Mommy!

Oh, Eddie, dear,

do you think you should eat quite that much?

They're so high in calories.

You won't give me everything I want?

[crying] You don't love me!

[crying loudly]

No! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!

I'll get your mashed potatoes, right away!

[crying]

[Eddie's mother] Oh, here you are!

Mommy loves you!

Oh, and you'll want your gravy too, won't you?

[country music]

[Garfield narrating] Suddenly, I found myself in a gale-force gravy storm,

pelted with little pieces of giblet!

It blasted me clean out of Eddie's memory!

[screaming]

We seem to have tapped into a deep, painful memory

for Mr. Gourmand.

Why won't you feed me, Mommy?

Don't you love your little Eddie?

And there's the problem right there.

He has some sort of problem

with his mother not letting him eat whatever he wants?

Apparently.

That would appear to be what's making him so cranky.

[Garfield narrating] I didn't quite understand,

but I knew what we had to do.

Find Eddie's mother.

Even Jon figured that out.

We searched and finally, we located her.

[Jon] Ah!

"Mama Gourmand's Health Food Store".

[Garfield] Eddie's mother had a little shop over on th Avenue.

I haven't seen my son in a couple of years.

Does he still weigh as much as a small truck?

A medium-sized one.

What happened between the two of you?

He called up and asked me to make him

all his favorite foods for dinner.

I said sure. But I wasn't going to stuff him full of calories.

I said I was going to feed him a healthy diet,

and he screamed:

"You don't love me!" And he hung up.

[Garfield narrating] As always, it was up to the wise cat

to figure out what to do.

And I did.

At the TV station,

Eddie was getting ready to do his show.

Good to have you back, Eddie.

Who cares what you think?

And why are you still wearing that ugly shirt?

There's someone here to see you.

I have a show to do.

I don't want to see anyone.

Mama!

What are you doing here?

You came to apologize and to say you'll cook me all my favorite foods?

I'll make you dinner

but I won't help you shorten your life by putting on weight.

I want to keep you around as long as possible.

I used to think giving you everything you wanted

was a way to say "I love you".

This is a much better way.

Well, that kind of ends our story.

Eddie got back to being Eddie,

and he gave Vito a good review.

And for the best pizza in the world,

go to Vito's!

Just don't eat too much of it.

[Vito] I am back in business!

This must be because of Mr. Arbuckle and his cat!

I shall take them a feast!

[Italian music]

In fact, he should be here any minute with it.

[laughter]

Oh, Mama Gourmand is cooking dinner for all of us,

including Eddie.

[doorbell]

Something healthy, she says.

That's why I'm glad Vito's delivering food.

My way of saying thank you.

And a fine way it is.

I'll take those, Garfield.

These are not on your diet.

Just remember, it's for your own good.

OK! I'll try to remember that, but...

it's not going to be easy.

[upbeat music]
