04x01 - Lion Queen

Post by bunniefuu »

-[Garfield snores]

-[alarm clock]

[theme song]

You must have some idea why one

of the richest men in the world

invited you to his estate.
The woman who called just said

that Spencer Spendington

wanted to offer me a job.

A job?
[panting]

What are Garfield and Odie

doing in the backseat?

Oh, they're playing some sort

of game Garfield invented.

It's called

"Name that sandwich".

If you guess

what's in the sandwich,

you get to eat the sandwich.
[Odie grunts]
Tuna fish?

No, sorry.

It's roast beef.

[Odie moans]
[moaning]
Okay, next one.
[grunting]
Swiss cheese?
No, sorry.
It's chunky-style peanut butter

and guava jelly

with bibb lettuce

and applewood smoked bacon

on toasted date nut bread.

[Odie grunting]

I know, that was

your next guess.

[Liz] It says here Spencer Spendington

owns eight mansions, thirty-seven cars,

two private jets, the Klopman

Diamond, a private zoo--

Who owns a private zoo?
Someone who's very, very rich.

No, sorry.

This one is ham.

[moaning]
[screech of tyres]

We have mostly mammals

in this section.

The birds are over

in the east wing.

And oh! You know

what I just received?

-[cat scream]

-A california condor!

[Jon] Those are very rare, aren't they?

They sure are! A lot

of these animals are very rare.

Of course!

What's the point

of having something

that everybody else has?
[Odie barking]
Liz isn't thrilled about zoos.
She thinks some are good,
but some emprisoned animals

that ought to be out

in the wild,

and some don't treat animals

very well at all.

-[hiss]

-Let's make a little survey.

Hey! How is the food

in this place?

Oh... Pretty awful.
What little there is of it.
They don't feed you enough?

Life was better

when I was in Africa.

♪I just have to say♪

♪We are all feeling low♪

♪We're so far away♪

♪From the world we know♪

♪Men came along

And brought us here♪

♪Where we're in the wrong

Wrong hemisphere♪

♪We don't belong

That should be clear♪

♪Oh, what to do♪

♪Living in a zoo♪

♪What a terrible stew♪

♪Better hope

It won't happen to you♪

♪Ooh ooh ooh♪

♪It's plain to see here

We should not be here♪

♪That's why we're so blue♪

Oh... Here! Open wide!
[groans]
Thanks!
[trumpet sound]
Mister Spendington?

Who gets to see these animals,

besides you?

Heh... My friends.
Your... rich friends.

Can I help it

if all my friends are rich?

Remember this moment, folks.

It's the last time on the show

you'll see me giving food away.

What Jon means is:

does anyone ever get to come

in here who isn't rich?

Heh... My servants.

Oh! And you two.

Come!

Let me show you

the most important exhibit

in my entire zoo.

Here's a sandwich for you,

here's a sandwich for you,

here's a sandwich for you,

Here's a sandwich for you...

Oh man, this guy

has way too many penguins.

Here's a sandwich for you,

here's a sandwich for you...

Whatever it is,

I think it escaped.

It's an empty cage

reserved for the animal

I most want to add

to my zoo here.

What reminds me...

-[phone dial]

-Stella!

Get Dinkum on the video phone.

[Stella]

Right away, mister Spendington.

-Dinkum?

-As in Dirk Dinkum?

[whinny]

Here's a sandwich for you,

here's a sandwich for you,

here's a sandwich for you...

You have to guess

what kind of sandwich it is.

[groans]
[penguins sneer]

-[Odie groans]

-Wrong again!

Here's a sandwich for you,

here's a sandwich for you...

[Stella]
Dirk Dinkum on line nine,

mister Spendington.

[Dirk sniggers]

Dinkum, what do you have

to report?

Afternoon, mister Spendington sir.

Howdy there, mister Spendington!

That was the rotten explorer

we met up with last season.

[Odie growls]
I saw that episode.
He was so repulsive!
You watch my show?
Here, have two sandwiches.

I'm still hot on the trail

of the Manzian White Lion for you.

A Manzian White Lion?

One of the rarest most

beautiful animals in the world.

There are none in captivity.

Don't you worry,

mister Spendington.

Dirk and I will find you one.

I'll find him one, Buckley.

You drive the vehicle and fetch lunch.

[arguing]
[Liz] Mister Spendington,

you are not going to bring

a Manzian White Lion here

and lock it up in captivity.
I can afford it.
I can afford anything.

No!

I mean, it's an endangered species!

There are so few left!
Now. I asked you here, Liz,

because I need

a first-rate veterinarian

to take care of my animals here.
Name your price.
Not interested.
Of course you are.

Everybody is interested

in the money is right.

I said "not interested".
You will be!

You'll think it over

and you'll come crawling back.

They all do.

Come on, Odie.

I think we're leaving.

Oh, this is the last sandwich.
Can you guess what kind it is?
[groans]
[Garfield moans]
Nope. Not salami.
[sobs]
Hey, I was just kidding!
It's salami!
Wow, they look angry.
I wonder how angry they are.
What do you think, Liz?
I think we've got to fly to Africa

and do everything we can

to stop Dirk Dinckum

from capturing a Manzian White Lion
and selling it to Spencer Spendington.
I was thinking the same thing.
Well, that's pretty angry.
[groans]

I have this friend named Angie

who used to work from Dinkum.

I'm gonna text her.

[pilot]
And we'll be landing in Manzia

in approximately minutes.

Angie says the last two Manzian

White Lions are in Manzia.

So that's obviously

where Dinkum is heading.

And you say she was as mad

as we were

about the idea of trapping one?
Madder.
You remember Angie?
[groans]

In that long episode

when Jon found his old friend

and your first owner, Lyman...
[groans]
I think they're running it

on the cheap

flashback scene channel.

Remember? We went down

to Franistan to look for Lyman.

That's how we first encountered

Dirk Dinkum

and his wormlike assistant.

Angie. That's a tour guide

who used to work for Dinkum.

She helped him find

a creature called a Zabadu.

And when Dinkum

ran into the Zabadu,

he got what was coming to him...
And then some.
Remember Angie was so grateful?

-You remember it now?

-[Odie groans]

Good! But don't forget

'cause there will be a quiz.

Would you like some gum

to chew while we land?

It helps to stop

your ears from popping.

Thank you.

I'll take a piece.

And I'll take a piece.
And I'll take the rest.
Are you afraid of Dinkum?
He looks pretty tough to me.

Jon Arbuckle? Scared?

[laughs]

After what happened to him

the last time we met?

I'll bet he's too scared

to come within a mile of me!

[evil laugh]
[Liz] This is exciting!

I don't think I've ever

been to Africa before.

It's the most mysterious

and unexplored of all the continents.

-They say that Africa is--

-John Arbuckle!

[kiss]

Oh John, it's

so wonderful to see you!

[kisses]
Oh, John.
I certainly hope this is Angie.

Liz, Angie.

Angie, Liz.

Oh, he's adorable, Liz.

Hun hun.

He's taken, Angie.

It's called jealousy.

It's like when I see someone else

eating a really large lasagna.

[groans]

[Jon laughing]

Okay!

Well, let's... get out

of this airport, shall we?

I have this friends we're going

to meet. His name is Armstrong,

and he knows where all

the Manzian White Lions are.

[gasps]
[sights]
[elephant trumpets]
Oh!
[all laugh in excitement]

Remember what I said

when I saw Arbuckle

getting on the same plane

as us, Buckley?

I said "That guy's gonna lead me
right to that Manzian White Lions."

You know, we don't have

to do it that way, Dirk.

-My uncle knows where--

-Buckley!

When I want you advice,

I'll give it to you. Just drive.

Name that sandwich.

Here's a sandwich for you.

Here's a sandwich for you.

It's an empty cage
reserved for the animal

I most want to add

to my zoo here.

I'm still hot on the trail

of the Manzian White Lion for you.

[Liz]
We've got to fly to Africa

to stop Dirk Dinkum

from capturing

a Manzian White Lion.

Liz, Angie.

I have this friend

we're going to meet.

His name is Armstrong

and he know where

all the Manzian White Lions are.

-Oh!

-[Odie barks]

[Dinkum]

That guy is gonna lead me

right to the Manzian White Lions.

[Armstrong] A few months ago,

I only knew of two Manzian Whites Lions.

There may be others.

I hope there are others.

But I only knew of two.
Something has changed?

Hunters.

A few months ago.

They got one.

The male, I heard.

So there's only one left?
Not necessarily.
[groans]

A bird-watcher in the area

told me she'd seen two cubs.

Twins, she thought.

Recently born.

That's good.
See? I told you

Armstrong knew all

about this kind of thing.

I have a map here

I can give you.

Don't give it to them.
Sell it to me.
Dinkum!
You again?
[groans]

This would be a good time

to boo and hiss the screen, folks.

Afternoon, Arbuckle.
Good to see you again, Angie.

You're not getting that map,

Dinkum.

Sure I am.

I always get what I want.

[Odie growls]
Ha ha ha!
[scream]

Do you have any idea how

much Spendington will pay me

when I bring a Manzian

White Lion back for his zoo?

How much?

Enough that I'm not about

to let you or anyone

get in my way.

So Armstrong, how's about

selling me that map?

Hmm...
Say, for this much money?

You're wasting your time,

Dinkum.

You can't buy Armstrong

for any amount of money.

You've got yourself a deal,

Dinkum.

-[gasps]

-Yeah!

Swallowed my gum.
Fortunately, I have more.
Thanks, Armstrong.

You just made me

a very rich man.

Armstrong, how could you!

Spendington wants to put

one of those lions in a cage.

A little cage.

Where only his rich friends

will ever see it.

Hey, that was a lot of money

for that guy to pay

for a nine year old map

that will take him

in the wrong direction.

Nice!

While they go east,

I'll fly us to the west portal

where the Manzian White Lions are.
And this will do a lot of good

for the Animal

Preservation Fund.

This is great!

Hey, Odie. We're going

for another plane ride.

No!

[moans]

I know these little planes

can seem scary

but don't worry.

I trust Armstrong.

[protesting noises]

Calm down, Odie.

It'll be fine.

That's their plane!

Why is it heading west?

Probably making a turn

before heading east.

But they won't get there

before us, will they?

[laughs]

After what I did to that plane,

they won't get anywhere.
[evil laugh]
Alright, it's enough.

♪Nobody likes to be♪

♪Hated by the population♪

♪Still I find I don't mind♪

♪When they say go away♪

♪Folks believe and perceive

I am an abomination♪

♪They despair, I don't care♪

♪When they say go away♪

♪Yes, folks think that I'm a cad♪

♪Not somebody to be trusted♪

♪My father thinks that I am bad♪

♪My mother's totally disgusted♪

♪I get kicks playing tricks

Causing people's degradation♪

♪Make a stink, I won't blink

When they say go away♪

♪Trouble's what I'm all about♪

♪So I'm always getting busted♪

♪My doctor threw me out♪

♪Called me somewhat maladjusted♪

♪I delight in a fight♪

♪Prompting endless confrontation♪

♪You should know I won't go♪

♪When they say go away♪

[evil laughter]
[protesting growls]

You're being even more

ridiculous than usual.

What about this plane?
[mutters]
Dinkum's assistant was what?
[growls]
[mutters]
[muttering]
[all scream]

[Armstrong]

Folks, we have a problem...

[all scream]

[Jon]

Armstrong! What's wrong?

She's not getting enough power.

Might be a leak in the fuel line.

Looks like this is the end, boy.

But I'm going to try to look

on the bright side.

I'm never going

to see Nermal again.

Can you put her down somewhere?
Jon! Take the controls!
Me? But I never...I...

I'm never going to have

Jon's meatloaf again.

-Feet on the rudders.

-[Jon moans]

[screams]

Armstrong! I don't know

what I'm doing here!

Just as I thought!

The fuel line's leaking.

Looks like someone cut it.

If we had some tape

or something,

I could patch it long enough

for us to land.

-I don't have any tape.

-Neither do I.

my last meal would be a piece

of sugar-free spearmint gum?

Gum!
Cat! I love you!
I love me too.
[screams]
[all scream]
Ha!
[bark]

Let's hope this holds long enough

for us to find a place to land.

Armstrong! Take over!
Got it.
Hold tight, everyone!
[scream]
[scream]
[alarm]

We'd better find a place

to land in a hurry.

[all scream]

Here we go! Everybody!

Hold onto someone else!

Next time I fly anywhere,

I'm going by bus.

[all scream]
[sights]

-That's putting it mildly.

-[Odie barks]

[Jon] Armstrong thinks there's a town

ten or twelve miles from here.

We're going to leave you guys

to guard the plane.

Who'll protect me out here?

And of course, you'll have Odie

here to protect you.

[panting]

I repeat: Who'll protect me

out here?

See you in a couple of hours...

I hope.

We left you a lantern

in case it gets dark.

When you come back,

bring pizza!

Well, Odie.

Looks like it's just you and me

here for a while.

[bark]

Is there something you want to do

while we have all this time here?

[happy bark]
[Garfield sights]

[Buckley] Like I was sayin',

my uncle knows

where there's one of them

Manzian White Lions.

Buckley, shut up and turn left.
No, mate.

We turn left

about thirty kilometers east,

-then--

-We turn left here! Now!

Have it your way, Dinkum.
[scream]
[both scream]
[yawn]
Buckley, this is all your fault.

You ordered me to turn left.

I turned left.

How is this my fault?

Give me a minute.

I'll figure out how.

[growls]

Armstrong...we've walked

at least fifteen miles.

I know. There's a city in

this direction. I'm sure of it.

Do you think Garfield and Odie

will be okay?

They're going to be alone

so long...

I hope so.

They may wind up

being there all night.

I know.

But Garfield's resourceful.

And I'll bet he finds

something interesting to do

to pass the time.
[happy bark]

Gee, Africa

is an exciting place.

There are so many things

to do here

I couldn't possibly do

back home.

Tada!

I can't take any more

of this, Odie.

I have to do something else.

Anything else.

I wonder if there's a good

Chinese restaurant

around here anywhere.

If we have to spend

the night here,

maybe we can sleep in this cave.
[muttering]

I came in here

to see what it's like.

And also because

the animators love these scenes.

Odie. Did you just

walk over my foot?

-Uh-uh.

-Oh.

Oh, I'm so sorry

to hear you say that,

because something furry just did
and I was hoping it was you.

Here. I'll turn on the lantern

and we can see what it was.

Probably nothing...
Spiders!

Hundreds of spiders.

Thousands of spiders.

Millions of spiders.

Spiders to the left of me.

Spiders to the right of me.

It's... it's a spider-palooza.
[moan]

Not to fear, Odie. I know

what to do with spiders.

I will goosh them.

I will goosh them high

and goosh them low.

I will goosh them up

and goosh them down.

Nothing will stop me

from my spider-gooshing.

"Goosh"? Did I say "goosh"?
I mean "entertain".

Watch as I entertain all these

fine, handsome spiders

with my impression

of the hundred yard dash.

[scream]
[barks]
[scream]
[spider song]
Oh no!

I had my heart set

on a little cat gooshing.

Come on, everyone!

Time to play dress-up!

As usual, everyone

gets four pairs of socks.

[panting]

I haven't run like that

since the last time

the twins were on the show.
[mutters]
How do we get back to the plane?

Oh, it's simple.

We just go that way.

Or that way.

Or that way.

Or that way.

Or that way.

Odie!

We're lost in the Savanah!

[moan]
