it was a warm sunny morning in terrytown

and the little plains of terrytown

airport were up and about and on this

bright morning

jj and his friends were playing their

favorite game

jump jet it's a lot like leapfrog if

frogs had wings

hola jj jump check sure looks muy

divertido

it's a lot of fun i can play jump jet

all day

would you show me how to play sure

what good is it to be so small i

asked big jake the same thing when i was

little

and you know what he told me lanes come

in all shapes and sizes

the only one you have to measure up to

is yourself

i just happen to agree good things come

in all shapes and sizes

hola brenda i don't know what you mean

all i know is that i'm too small to play

mystery for you to solve

the mystery of size and shape

you can do it you can do it find

the clues there's nothing to it it's

another

jj's mystery

and you can help us solve the mystery of

size and shape too

we're ready to start brenda but what do

we do

first first we have to learn about

shapes like a circle

a square a rectangle

and a triangle and then we're going to

see

how some things are bigger or smaller

than other things like the way this

circle

is bigger than this rectangle

or the way this triangle is smaller

than this square are you ready to find

some clues about shapes

i'm ready too great

i'm going to show you a shape and then

you

tell me the clues about that shape

okay this is a

circle

[Music]

a circle is round and there are no

corners

exactly and this is

yes a square tell me about it

well it has four corners and four

sides and each side is the same

right each side is the same length

and here's a rectangle un rectangular

could you describe this shape yes

this one has four corners like a

square but but two of its sides are

longer than the other sides

very good now can you tell me about this

one

it um has three corners

and three sides yes it's called a

triangle

it has three corners and three sides and

did you know

that these shapes are all around us they

are where well part of the mystery is

for you to find these shapes in

terrytown

spinnerific it's like a treasure hunt

wow look at the tower it has

lots of squares

jj look at the barn there's one triangle

brenda's right there are shapes all over

the place

come on i think i know where we can find

a rectangle

[Music]

look mira the front of the hanger is

shaped like a rectangular

it has quattro corners and and two of

its sides are

longer than the other two

we've been staring at these shapes every

day

maybe that's part of the mysterio

you're right well done

but is that all there is to this mystery

so far we've talked about shape now

we're finally ready to take on

size muy bueno i was hoping we'd get to

that

some things work best because they're

small

like insects and some things work best

because

they're big like elephants

some things like my tools whether

they're big or small

are the perfect size for the job at hand

and it doesn't matter what shape they

here are two more different shapes a

rectangle

and a triangle can you tell me which

shape

is smaller

the rectangle is smaller in size

than the triangle see and rectangular

but what if two shapes are the same like

two triangles here you go jj

two triangles is one bigger than the

other

triangle shape is bigger

and this triangle is smaller

now i see that size is different

than shape something can be the same

shape but be a different size

canyon and i can see easy o'malley's hat

it's blowing like a tumbleweed

montana is there any way you can get

easy's hat back

no can do brenda my wings are too big

for that cave

it'd be like trying to stuff a bull into

a bread box

how about you tracy i'm already on my

way

sorry brenda i'm a smaller size than

montana

but i'm still too big to fit into that

cave i'm the wrong shape

no matter who tried none of the planes

were the right size to get easy

o'malley's hat

out of the cave

hmm if only we had a plane that was the

right size and shape

to fit inside the cave

brenda maybe i could fit inside that

cave

can i give it a try of course

lina come to think of it maybe you're

perfect for this job then i'm on my way

they headed home and lena returned the

hat to easy o'malley who thanked her

over and over again

later that afternoon lena was still so

happy

that when she and jj were playing she

jumped for joy

did you see that wow i

sure did i can do it

i can jump high enough to play jump jack

after all

see it really didn't matter how small

you were

all you needed was to believe that you

could do it if you look with me

you can see a circle or a triangle

if you really try you can spy a square

or a rectangle a circle is round like

the sun

in the sky a triangle has three points

three sides

a square has four corners and four equal

sides

but

lena and jj played jump jet for the rest

of the afternoon

and she jumped over jj every time

and so when lina solved the mystery of

size and shape

she came to realize that her size did

not

hold her back
