Hi, I'm Julie Chen, live in the "Big

Brother" studio, a few hundred feet away from the house

itself.

Tonight, the banishment process begins.

Right now, people live in the house,

but before this hour is up, two will be nominated to leave

by their fellow houseguests.

They have no idea who the nominees are.

Later, I'll break the news to the houseguests live.

Then, over the next week, you will get the chance

to vote which of the two will leave by calling

a special number.

It's all coming up right now on "Big Brother."

[theme music]

We've got a lot to show you in the next hour.

First, let's bring you up to date on the most

recent happenings inside the house,

starting with where we left off on Tuesday night.

ANNOUNCER [VOICEOVER]: Jordan is having a difficult night.

[sighs] What am I doing?

[blowing nose]

I don't know what's wrong with me.

This experience, being isolated in a house

is something that I definitely feel pressure-wise,

and I also know that there's a lot at stake for me, as far as

what people think about me, because for one, I

have revealed that I've been an exotic dancer.

I'm wearing a Scarlet Letter.

I just-- I just had a meltdown because I

felt like what have I done?

I've gotten myself into this situation,

and it might just turn out to be a nightmare.

What is happening to me?

I'm just losing it.

What's wrong, boo?

Nothing.

I had these dreams last night about--

I had these dreams that I had to go home,

and I was, like, in this stupid strip club,

and it was, like, totally cheap and--

[crying] I don't know why--

I don't know why I'm falling apart right now.

Well, I think--

I'm just, like, totally losing it right now,

and I have no idea why.

You know what it is?

I think that probably right now, for you,

since we had that conversation about--

and you probably went to sleep on what to think

and what direction or what is going to be awaiting

us once we leave, you know?

You probably thought about the best scenarios and the worst

scenarios, and you know, your head probably got

fixed on the worst scenarios.

Well, just think, it was a dream, but you're awake,

and that's not the reality.

The reality is--

The reality is I'm in this house with nine people

and like, half of them don't like me.

We don't like them either.

[laughter]

Yeah.

[laughter]

All of them can't be like us.

It's not our fault that they hate us.

ANNOUNCER [VOICEOVER]: The houseguests

play a revealing game of Truth or Dare.

Jordan gets the first question.

Oh!

Here we go!

What person, out of , that when you walked in here,

you did find attractive?

The night we moved in, there were two men, two women,

I found immediately physically attractive.

The person who dropped off the list

has been Mega, because I've gotten to know him,

and now I view him differently.

I don't view him sexually.

We've become-- we've become friends.

No, you've changed.

I mean, it's actually more of a compliment.

OK.

Now you want one of the other names?

Yeah.

Brittany.

Well, hello.

How are you doing?

Question is, are you attracted to anyone now in the house?

Obviously, one of my people, Eddie.

Ooh.

Very interesting.

That's one of them.

Very interesting.

Tonight, two houseguests will be nominated to leave.

Here's how the process works.

One by one, the houseguests step into the Red Room

and name two people they would like to see out.

The two with the most votes are then put before the public,

and that's where you come in.

You will have the opportunity to decide who will stay

and who will leave by calling in.

Over the next week, we'll take your votes,

and the results will be announced live next Thursday,

and that houseguest must then leave.

Well, obviously, it is a big night for the houseguests.

They all know tonight they will find out

who the first two nominees are.

So let's just listen in and see how they're doing.

Even the green wall?

You guys did a really good job.

The chickens popped out eight eggs today, too.

Really?

Surprising, huh?

Somebody worked double-time.

Maybe when they're shady, we're going to get more.

How many eggs did we get?

Eight.

Somebody went double-time.

Oh.

I'm really impressed.

Wait, how many do we have?

Eight.

Nuh-uh.

Oh, yeah.

Somebody--

I didn't know chickens could lay more than one egg.

Mm-hm.

If they're happy chickens.

They were all excited about getting shade that they all

accidentally popped out two.

That is good.

Wait a minute, I know better than that,

because I've-- but no, maybe that's multiple

chickens actually, when--

because when we used to gather eggs as kids,

there would be three eggs sometimes under a nest.

All right, we'll check back with them in a moment.

But with me now is William's sister, Lynn.

Lynn, thanks for coming in from Philadelphia.

Sure.

What do you think of Will so far?

How has-- is that really him, the Will

we've been seeing on the TV the past week?

Absolutely.

Actually, I think it's a little toned down.

Toned down?

Yes.

He has caused a little bit of uneasiness in the house, no?

Yes, but he's being himself, and he's being real,

so I think that's a positive thing.

Do you think he's enjoying it, because he--

Oh, definitely.

But he seemed a little bit bored.

We saw earlier in the week, he played that riddle,

saying he was Big Brother--

to me, I thought William's bored, so he's playing

mind games on the others.

Yeah, and I think that's what it

was, trying to shake the group up, and just as a fun thing.

I don't think any malician was involved in it.

Mm-hm.

What do you think the other houseguests think of him?

I mean, you know and love him.

He's your brother, but--

I think the jury's probably still out,

but we'll find out tonight.

I think some people probably like him

and others probably don't, and that's the kind of person

that he is. - All right.

Love him or leave him.

Sure.

On Tuesday, Jamie revealed a secret she's

been keeping from the others.

She happens to be a beauty queen,

Miss Washington USA .

Jamie's friends, Tammy, Natasha, Nancie are here

watching with us, and Nancy, let me ask you,

why didn't Jamie just tell everyone in the house right

off the bat that she is Miss Washington?

Well, I really think that she just

wanted to allow an opportunity for the other houseguests

to get to know her from the inside, not

her external accomplishments but who she is as a person.

Because in the house, it's not really

relevant all of the things that she's achieved out there,

because they're there to work together.

Is she like that with everyone that she

meets when she first meets--

Well, usually, when she first meets someone,

she is pretty quiet, because she likes

to observe like a lot of people do

and kind of get to know them before she actually

begins to interact with them.

Last quick question, we just heard that she has admitted

being attracted to Eddie.

Does that surprise you? Is that her type of guy?

- Not at all. - Why?

Not at all, because to her, someone

who has the drive, the success, the ambition, that

is way more attractive to her than any physical looks or you

know a bank account or anything like that.

So when I first watched this show, and he, you know,

talked about what had happened to him and the situation

he was put in, and how he just went for it.

You know, he didn't stop to be sad or anything like that.

Well, we're going to have to wait and see if she acts on it,

because he does have a girlfriend.

So stick around.

Now, it's time to show you how they voted,

and since we're talking about Jamie,

let's hear from her first.

I was going to roll a dice to pick numbers.

Is that OK?

No.

You're k*lling me.

Do you know how bad this sucks?

It's like, OK, let me pick from my family,

or let me pick from--

I mean, it's really like picking from your friends.

So it's not a good feeling at all.

And there's no right answer.

Like, there's nobody I could pick.

There's not a single person in this house I could pick that I

would want to pick at all.

[sighs]

I nominate Will.

I nominate Jordan.

I nominate Will.

As much as I like him personally,

I think he's probably the most disruptive overall and puts

people ill at ease, and in that sense,

I don't like that effect on the house.

The second person I would nominate is Karen.

She's very sweet.

She's a wonderful person.

As much as she puts a smile on her face,

it seems to me, at least, that the stress of the house

isn't actually very good for her.

I mean, she's already upping her cigarette dosage each day.

And I also think probably on the outside world,

Karen has other things to deal with too,

and so it might not be a bad thing

for her to get out of here.

I nominate Curtis, because I think everybody here

has a purpose, and I think his purpose from the beginning

was everybody wanted to move in and feel comfortable.

And he's a real light-hearted guy.

He makes a lot of jokes and everything else.

He's funny, and I think he has more of a purpose

probably on the outside world.

And then the second person I nominate is Brittany.

I think she probably had a lot of feelings

towards her parents, where she wanted

her parents and her friends and family

to see a different side of her that they probably normally

don't see, because I think she's probably more reserved

when she's at work or wherever.

And here she could just be herself and let it out,

but I think their two main purposes are completed,

and they should get back to their daily lives.

That's it.

Let's take a look at the vote so far.

William has two nominations.

Brittany, Curtis, Jordan, and Karen

are tied with one nomination each,

and we have yet to hear from seven houseguests.

Tom, speaks out when "Big Brother" continues.

Welcome back to this live edition of "Big Brother."

houseguests are inside and two are

about to be nominated to leave.

Let's see how Cassandra and Jordan voted.

I nominate Brittany.

I really love her a lot, but if I had to choose somebody who

I feel hasn't contributed enough to the way the house is being

run and to the chores and that kind of thing,

I probably would choose her.

It's hard for me to say this, because I really like her,

and I enjoy spending time with her.

And I think that she's kind of a bright light in the house,

but I also think, in some ways, it's detrimental for us.

And I also nominate Eddie, who I also like a lot.

And I think he's really adorable,

but he sleeps too much.

And he's not around when we need to have work done.

So unfortunately, those are the two people

that I'm having to nominate.

I think that people have just been so wonderful,

and it's been a really nurturing environment,

and that is going to change within the next hours

Despite the fact that we resolved the tension

between us, like the outward tension between us,

I'm nominating Eddie, because I feel like I know the guy's got

one leg and everything, but it doesn't change the fact

that he has a bad attitude, and he's just

a conversational dead beat.

I nominate Karen, because I feel like this experience

is about more than just playing cards and doing chores.

And I know that she is totally helpful,

and she's kind of a mother figure, but I just--

I don't-- I don't really get anything out of knowing Karen.

She makes me nervous.

She's like-- [laughs] just she makes me nervous.

Now we've heard from half the house guests.

Here's where we stand--

Brittany has two nominations, so does Eddie, Karen, and William.

Curtis has one and so does Jordan.

One of the stories inside the "Big Brother" house that

has caught the attention of viewers

is Karen's relationship with her husband, Tom.

She's been very outspoken about it,

so we sent our reporter, Ian O'Malley,

to visit with Tom to get the other side of the story.

Yes, I'm so old-fashioned as to believe that when two people

are married, that they're joined together and become one,

and half of me is being exposed to something

that I truly don't like.

Karen, what's up with your husband, now?

I mean, are you still in love with him, Karen?

No.

No.

At first, I was rather taken aback.

I really did expect her to eventually get around to that,

but I guess I was quite surprised that it

was the second day there.

Karen's always been unable to maintain any intimacy

or secrecy about anything.

What was your initial reaction the first time

that you realized that Karen was discussing

your personal life on the show?

I could see that she was obviously in great pain,

and she thinks me responsible for a lot of it.

And then, of course, dealing with the husband thing,

you know, it's just, I don't what to see him at all.

I'm more concerned for her than I am myself.

I'm very, very durable.

Nobody can really destroy me.

I guess I'm indestructible, I think.

He just really set me off.

You know, my going away was pretty cold.

He brought up so much conflict before I came into the house,

you know?

It was just an extra burden, you know, on top of everything

else I was dealing with.

I kissed Karen as she was going

into the "Big Brother" house.

I told her--

I told her--

I told her good luck and goodbye.

And so when the door closed, I thought

perhaps that was goodbye.

He hates to kiss, absolutely hates to kiss.

He hates to kiss?

Yeah.

He doesn't want-- he doesn't want anybody touching his face.

I don't express myself well with kind words or compliments.

I just-- it's a failing on my part.

We've been married for years,

and he's never complimented me.

Has he ever said you're, like, beautiful?

Oh, never, never, never.

Initially, in the relationship,

it was difficult for me to even say I love you.

I should be used to it, him being negative, and, you know,

and not worrying about how I feel about something.

Do you feel betrayed?

I suppose if the world was perfect,

I would prefer that I had a loving wife that returned

home and wanted to be the mother to children

and the grandmother to grandchildren

and just forget the rest, because words really

don't mean anything anyway.

And that's-- that's been a source of ongoing problems with

us all along, that she places too much value on words, and I

place all my value on actions.

So it really doesn't matter what she says.

It's, you know, it's what you really feel

and what you do with it.

If you found you had the opportunity

to say what was on your mind to Karen right now,

what would you say?

Though I--

I really didn't want to have to discuss such things publicly,

and I still choose not to discuss any particular details,

only to express my--

my love and respect for Karen and to wish her the best.

And however things turn out is how they will turn out,

but I hope that she feels better and maybe this time away

from home will help her to feel better about herself

and me as well.

writes a letter to his wife--

Tom wrote a letter after seeing his wife Karen

talk about their marriage.

Here's part of that letter.

I was damned to love a woman who walks in sunshine

and shadows with an angel on one shoulder

and a demon on the other.

I loved, still love, and always will love the angel,

but I can't tear it loose from the demon.

Sometimes she thinks me shallow or uncaring, because she cannot

see into the bottom of my soul.

She believes it is because I am unwilling to reveal it to her.

What she fails to comprehend is that it

is so deep that no one except God

will ever be able to see it.

With me now is Dr. Drew Pinsky,

our health and relationship specialist, who

will be joining us every week.

Dr. Drew, welcome.

Thank you, Julie.

Why would Tom write such a letter

knowing that Karen's in the "Big Brother" house,

and she has no way of reading it?

Well, he really needs an opportunity

to respond to her attacks.

After all, she has really enlisted the audience

on her behalf and enlisted the entire household

with her anger.

And this is an opportunity for him,

a man who has difficulty expressing

his feelings, in a very controlled way,

to have a chance to respond.

Is that unlike someone with his personality to actually, a,

write it, b, talk to our cameras?

Yeah, so at least from Karen's perspective,

but we're finding out that this is a man of some feeling.

He has difficulty expressing those feelings,

but given an opportunity and a controlled environment,

he is not afraid to step up and talk.

So it's therapeutic for him.

Let's hope so.

There's two sides to this story, obviously.

We've heard Karen side so far, and now,

we're just beginning to understand

what Tom's perceptions are.

I mean Karen is very, very angry sometimes.

Karen is a world-class caretaker.

She has taken care of everyone in the house.

You heard Jordan earlier refer to her as the mother

of the house, and sometimes when people are very involved

in being the caretaker, they sort of feel

entitled to something more back, and when somebody doesn't

provide that, they feel angry.

Now, Karen's anger towards her husband, Tom,

she talks about it quite a bit in the house.

How is that affecting her relationship with

the other people in the house?

Well, again, you're hearing a little bit of it

tonight, that they find it sort of a source of irritation,

but mostly my concern is that she

is enlisting the household and the public against her husband.

It's called splitting, and that's

a behavior we're going start to see more of in the house

from Karen, particularly as the stress goes up.

People don't like that?

It's not about not liking it.

It tends to carry a little bit of chaos

when you split one person against another,

and, you know, it's not real.

It's not a healthy way to deal with feelings.

Talk to me about the dynamics in that house.

For the past week, we have seen the group bond,

get to know each other, and then yesterday, they

had to go into the Red Room and start nominating people

for banishment from the house.

You know, I'm sort of--

every day, I find myself moved by this.

I can't stop watching it, and most recently,

watching them struggle with rejecting people

they bonded very tightly with is a very moving experience,

particularly those people that have,

themselves, powerful issues around abandonment

and rejection.

Jamie almost couldn't do it.

Why is that?

Well Jamie, I have had an opportunity

to see her initial application, and at least two places

on there, she mentioned that when she was growing up,

her parents were out of the house.

I mean, twice she mentioned that.

Working parents?

Working parents, which is a common problem in our culture

today, and she feels very much abandoned as a result of that.

So for her to then foist that experience

on somebody she's bonded with, that's very painful,

that's very painful.

Is it going to get more and more tense as more and more Red

Room nominations, or after tonight, it's

going to be all out of whack?

It's going to be--

it's going to be all out of whack.

I mean, the heat's going up, and we'll see what happens.

I've sort of given up on predicting.

There's so many variables here.

I think I know what's going to happen, but I'm--

And it changes every day depending on what happens.

It's so very, very interesting.

Here are George, William, and Brittany.

I nominate Will.

We had a little argument earlier,

and it's not because of that.

I appreciate his upfrontness and bluntness,

and I do believe I could learn from him.

But kind of the reason I nominated

him was because other people I didn't want to nominate

and just kind of who was left over,

he was one of the people that was left over.

I think the second person I'm going to nominate is Jordan.

I want her in the house, because I think she's got deep things

inside to share, but it's in no way

a reflection of not liking her at all.

So those are my two people.

I nominate Brittany, and I also nominate Eddie.

With Brittany, we're not compatible in terms

of our conversation.

There's a lot of friction there.

And she also sleeps very late, and I

believe not until recently she started

to participate in the chores.

I nominate Eddie because I don't feel as though I would benefit

from him mentally, and he's a bit slack on chores as well,

and he also sleeps very late and eats a lot of food.

I nominate William.

William's an individual person with far as being

working like a team type of an effort,

he has a hard time with that.

I nominate Jordan, basically for the same reasons

as I nominated Will.

She has a hard time also working well with people.

These first two were not that tough, no,

but I'm going to tell you what, farther down the road, yeah,

that's going to be--

that's going to get even harder for me.

To help you keep track, here's the latest vote totals.

William has jumped ahead with four nominations,

but the competition is heating up for the second spot.

Brittany has three, Eddie has three, and Jordan has three.

Karen has two votes.

Curtis, one.

Soon, you'll find out the final results.

But first, we thought it would be fun to invite

Art Manteris to join us.

He is the director of Superbook Operations

at the Las Vegas Hilton.

He's known for accurately handicapping

the Academy and Emmy awards, purely for entertainment

purposes, of course.

So who better to set the odds of who

is going to win and walk away with half a million dollars?

So who, according-- in your opinion, is least

likely to win this competition?

Well, William is the long shot.

Why?

Well, he got off to a very bad start.

In fact, I think he was out a few minutes into the show.

When he tried to stay in the lady's bedroom,

I think he annoyed a few people at that moment

and probably hasn't helped himself since.

And you have his odds at--

He's at -to-, he's the real long shot.

All right, next on the list, you have Karen.

Karen, I think, revealed a little bit too much emotion,

a little bit too much dirty laundry early on in the show,

can't overcome it.

Now, who does that upset, the viewers watching her

or the people in the house or both?

I think both, but primarily, the viewers at home.

And you put her odds at -to-.

-to-, yeah, yeah.

William and Karen are not going to win this thing.

Ooh.

You know, Lynn, his sister, is sitting there.

So just be careful.

[laughs] All right, next is Brittany on the list.

You have her odds at -to-.

Why?

I think that Brittany is a little bit too open,

maybe a little bit too honest.

A little bit--

Too honest?

Possibly, yeah.

Why would that work against her?

Well, she's wearing her emotions

on her sleeve a little bit, and I

think she's going to alienate herself from a few people

because of that. - In the house.

In the house, yeah.

But won't the public find that refreshing?

Well, I think the hair and the nails

is going to work against her with the general public.

Oh, all right.

Jamie is next on your list with odds -to-.

Well, Jamie, I think, is a very bright girl,

but I think that that beauty pageant persona is probably

going to work against her.

I think that the audience in the long run

may start to sense a little bit of role playing, perhaps even

a little bit of auditioning.

OK.

Next is Cassandra, -to- odds.

Very nice lady, very intelligent

opinions, that may work against her in the long run as well.

I think she's very mature and well-educated

and possibly a little bit too mature for the group

as a whole.

Oh, so the group might nominate her out next.

- I think so, yeah. - OK.

Curtis you have next as -to- odds,

what do you think of him?

I think he's a very likeable young man.

He's not likely to alienate anyone in the house,

but I don't know if he's going to ultimately

gain the popularity that it takes to win the whole thing.

OK, next you have George, -to- odds.

George, the father of three from Rockford.

Nice guy, family man--

I think the younger people are looking to him in a leadership

role right now, but that's going to work against him

in the long run also.

I don't think that people are going

to want that father figure.

The young people aren't going to want that father figure

around for a real long time.

But if America likes him--

all right, Josh you have at -to- odds.

Josh is also a very likeable young man, very adaptable.

Hasn't had any problems or conflicts

to speak of to this point.

I think people are going to like him also.

He can win this whole thing.

Well, you've got Jordan with -to- odds.

Jordan is very intriguing.

She's a very pretty girl, very sexy.

I think that the American public is going to want to see

her around for a good while.

She can win it also.

Especially the male population, I'm sure.

I think so.

And Eddie you have at the top of the list, -to- odds, why?

Well, I think America, in general, loves an underdog.

Eddie's the underdog here.

He's overcome a lot with some serious disadvantages before.

If this was a horse race, he clearly broke

out of the starting gate first.

He's the one to catch right now.

I think that's where Eddie and Josh came in.

So it's interesting that a woman won,

and then two, you know, young, available

guys, single guys I should say.

Eddie has a girlfriend, excuse me--

split the female vote.

Right.

Well the term was sexy, and I think you see Jordan, sexy,

and they clicked yes.

Oh, very interesting.

And the big buzz has been about William, you told me.

William is the number one word in chat rooms, but you name it,

people are talking about it online.

And I think that's because the internet gives people a voice.

So if you've got something to say about "Big Brother,"

The picture will be clear once we hear from Eddie and Karen.

OK, first person is Will because there is dissension,

and I guess I can't handle that.

You know, he's a controversial person,

and I would just as soon eliminate that.

I nominate Jordan, you know, for the same reasons.

I think that it's not so much what she says,

it's the looks that she gives.

And I don't know, you know, I perceive them to be looks

of judging someone, you know?

And it's not like an open--

an open kind of, you know, mm, Interesting.

It's more like, hm, kind of like that, I guess.

First person I nominate is Jordan.

Her and I have had our differences,

and we have resolved them, granted,

but I feel there's a tension between her

and other members of the house, and when it comes down

to this particular situation, tension is not wanted

and harmony is.

My second nomination is Mega, because,

again, the same reason.

I understand he's just a brother trying to get by and do what

he's got to do, but I, again, see tension

that he's causing in the house.

The last hours, if based on the last hours,

I couldn't make these judgments, but during the past week,

I've been able to come to these conclusions.

So that's why I am--

I've decided I nominate Jordan and Mega.

Now, for those of you who don't know,

Mega is William's nickname.

Well, those last two made the outcome very clear.

The nominees are William and Jordan.

Now, what's interesting to note is that four people had

no votes at all and they are Cassandra, George, who didn't

know my name, Jamie, and Josh.

So once again, the first two marked for banishment

are William and Jordan.

William got the most with six votes.

Jordan had five.

And because William's big sister, Lynn,

is here with us from Philadelphia, sorry,

I have to come over here.

Are you surprised?

Absolutely not.

Why?

It's obvious to me that the rest of the housemates

can't handle someone who's real and direct,

and they find him offensive.

But he's just being himself, and I

think if the rest of the group would be themselves,

they'd be more able to handle his personality.

OK, so we see how the group thinks of him.

Now that it's pitting him against Jordan,

how do you think the vote will come out by the viewers?

I'm not sure.

I think it'll be a toss-up.

is going to be once we tell him that he's been nominated?
