[music playing]
NARRATOR: It is a house unlike any other, where cameras
follow your every move and microphones
capture your every sound.
This is the "Big Brother" house.
Tonight, daring people will enter
these rooms, ready to call them home for the next three months.
They have each agreed to live in total confinement, deprived
of contact with the outside world, only each other
to turn to.
Every week, they'll take part in heated competitions
for food, luxuries, and power.
At the end of each week, the Houseguests
will vote to evict one of their own
until only one remains and wins a half million dollars.
And tonight, we start with a shocking twist.
Eight Houseguests move in first, and then later,
five more will join them.
[whoosh]
Who will they be?
It's a twist we call the "X-Factor."
It all starts now on "Big Brother ."
[theme music]
[whoosh]
[music playing]
Good evening, I'm Julie Chen.
Well, it's a brand new season, and
a shocking new twist is about to hit the "Big Brother" house.
But first, we'll meet the men and women vying for the chance
to win a half million dollars.
From Chicago to Boca Raton, Florida, from New York City
to Birmingham, Alabama, these Houseguests
have almost nothing in common.
It was just days ago that we surprised
the unsuspecting with the keys to their new lives.
[music playing]
[shouts]
"Big Brother," here I come.
I'm in the house.
Oh my god.
I have my house key.
Does this mean I'm leaving?
I am so special!
[laughs]
I'm Dave, and after my time in special ops,
"Big Brother" is going to be a cakewalk.
[laughing]
I'm Alison, and I like to be treated like a princess.
[laughing]
Nice, nice.
I'm Nathan.
I'm going to buy a couple of these when I win "Big Brother."
Ah!
[laughs]
Yea.
Yes!
I'm Michelle, and I'll prove that size does not matter.
I'm Scott.
Right now, I'm polishing this glass,
but when the show's over, I'm going
to be running things here.
Here's to me.
Yea!
I'm Jun, and you're going to love me as much as I do.
That's actually probably the only thing I need to survive.
I just don't think you have enough clothes here.
Gotta pack her up.
I'm Erika, and I'm going to give my roommates
the workout of their lives.
I'm Justin, and I'm going to turn the house
into a steel caged match.
Let's get the hell out of here.
I love men, and men love me.
And I think I'll be fine.
I just need to fix my broken nail.
Is sex allowed on camera?
Oh, there you go.
I'm Amanda, and I do it with style.
Cuban shirt, man.
Can't forget this.
I'm Robert, and you're going to love to hate me.
I don't want to make any enemies in the house.
I'm Jack.
I'm used to lying, and cheating, and backstabbing.
I did it for years in the FBI.
WOMAN : You can't come home empty-handed, [inaudible]..
Well, you're not getting any of it anyway.
My name is Jee, and I'm an international player.
I guess this is how this goes.
[shouts]
[shouts]
I'm Dana, and I'm going to break the competition.
[latin dance music]
I'm not going in there to fall in love,
you know what I'm saying?
I'm going in there to win a half million dollars.
I am leaving to live in the house for three months.
That's the house.
I probably don't need all this suntan lotion.
I am half black.
Let's just hope that I don't burn.
When there's women around, you gotta look good.
I'm taking my skimpy polka dot bikini.
They made a mistake by letting me in this house.
Not much to pack to spend a few months with a bunch
of sniveling weasels.
I feel like I'm going to jail.
The hardest part about leaving is definitely leaving my dogs.
Bye, brother.
Well, let's go.
I'm ready.
Almost forgot one thing.
I need my key to get me into the house.
Bye, guys.
Don't cry.
WOMAN : Bye, Amanda. Good luck.
I love you guys. WOMAN : Good luck.
I love you. MAN: Yeah, we love you too.
Baby, I love you.
I love you.
I'll see you soon.
Be good.
Bye, Grandma.
Let's get this game going!
I want my money already.
Woo!
Houseguests ready and eager to start their adventure.
The first eight are entering the front yard right now.
This will be the very first time they've met,
but they're not allowed to talk to each other
until they're inside the house.
[music playing]
What this group behind me doesn't know yet is that
we've shaken things up this year, thrown in an exciting new
twist called the "X-Factor."
Unlike past seasons of "Big Brother,"
not all of the Houseguests are complete strangers.
In fact, before this night is over, some of them
are going to make a shocking discovery.
They'll soon be joined by an ex-boyfriend or ex-girlfriend
they thought was out of their life for good.
What will this mean for each member of the house?
How will it alter strategies and possibly change lives?
We'll soon find out.
But first, let's get this party started.
Welcome, Houseguests.
I'm Julie.
I want everyone to take a good, hard look
at the men and women around you because this
is your new family.
Now, you'll get to know each other very well over the coming
months, and among these people, you may just find your new best
friend or your own worst enemy.
But remember, ultimately each of you is on your own.
This is, after all, a competition,
a demanding, summer-long power struggle.
Now, once you walk through those doors,
you won't come out until you either been evicted
or won the half million dollar prize.
In just a few minutes, you'll be entering the house
in three separate groups.
Once inside, you'll find three bedrooms,
each with its own distinct accommodations.
You will have one minute to choose your beds,
but each member of your group must
choose a bed in a different room of the house.
Make your choice carefully.
It's now time to enter the house.
The first ones to enter the "Big Brother" house
are Scott, David, and Nathan.
Go on in.
Holy [muted].
Yeah.
[muted] outrageous, dude.
I thought the house was absolutely funky.
I mean, it's a funky house.
It's a cool crib.
I saw the Austin Powers look.
I thought it was pretty neat.
It's like "MTV Cribs" in here, man.
Oh god. [laughs]
We got this one, that one, and--
I'm gonna go for this one, man.
- He's in there. - I'll take over here.
Oh, I gotta go find the other one, then.
Follow me.
Woo hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo.
"Big Brother" house, baby.
Yup.
The other two guys, they snagged a couple of bedrooms.
Then I was looking for the other one,
and I almost walked out the front door again.
Shows you how good my short term memory is.
I like the desert room.
It's pretty cool.
It's a lot more comfortable than some places I've slept, so.
Aw, dude, I got the freaking lizards.
Better not have to share.
Well, I saw the double beds and figured I didn't
want to sleep with someone.
So I'd rather have a single bed.
There's only eight of us.
That's-- they got something in store for us.
You know that, right?
JULIE: The next three to enter the "Big Brother" house
are Jun, Erika, and Alison.
Go on in.
And remember, you must each choose
beds from different rooms.
Hello.
What's up?
Who are you?
I'm Dave. - Hey, Dave.
Hi, how are you?
Good, nice to meet you.
[inaudible].
My first impression of Erika was when she walked into my room,
and I thought she was definitely a hot woman.
Wow.
You're really here.
Yeah, I know.
When I first walked in the house,
I wasn't really thinking about how beautiful it was.
But I was concentrating more on beating the other girls
to get a good bed.
This is great.
I know.
It's a fresh house.
Yeah, it is.
Nice.
Sorry.
[laughs]
It's not bad.
At least none of them are bad.
[laughs] When I first walked into the bedroom that I chose,
I saw that there were two double beds, and Nathan was on one.
My first gut instinct was to kind of share a bed with him
because he's cute.
Do you mind sharing with me?
Or do you want to take your chances with someone else?
Jun initially wanted to shack up with me on the bed.
So I was just like, well, let's wait and see
who else is coming in first.
Kind of, you know, second-guessed myself and took
the other double bed because I didn't want to be
in a bed with a boy quite yet.
And finally, Dana and Jack, it's your turn to go in.
Oh, wow.
This is really nice.
Wow, look at this [inaudible].
I know.
Hey.
I'm so excited.
- Drinks. - I know.
I can't wait. - I'm thirsty.
And I gotta get rid of this bag.
It's heavy.
Whoa, nice house.
I don't know, but I'm getting a single bed.
That's all I was--
[laughter]
Those are doubles.
They were all doubles, right?
Well, must be another one.
I think I was fortunate in going last
because I really got in a good bedroom in terms of people
that I'm allied with.
Welcome to the desert.
- Yeah. - I'm Jack.
Hi, Jack.
Jack.
Those burlap beds are fine, and I like them.
Yeah, we're in the desert.
- Yeah, it is. - I like it.
It's kind of cool. - Well, I'm Dana.
- Is this everybody? - Scott, nice to meet you.
No, there's five more people coming in.
Hi, I'm Alison. Nice to meet you.
Hi Scott.
I think the sixth person isn't coming.
Nice to meet you.
Where are you from?
Oklahoma.
Oklahoma?
Oh my gosh. [laughter]
Why does everybody get hate on the Oklahoma?
I didn't meant it like--
I really liked Nathan right from the get-go.
He and I had, like, a real quick encounter,
and he just seems real cool.
We're in the house, baby.
I know, dude.
It's all that matters.
[laughs] It's all good.
Nuh-uh.
Look at the little rubber--
Marcellas's rubber ducky from last year.
Oh, it multiplied, man.
Did he leave it?
[growls] Superdog--
[quacks]
And this is [inaudible].
They said there were refreshments.
This looks different.
You guys want to check out the refreshments?
- Yeah, let's [inaudible]. - Yeah, they did, Scott, yeah.
I think I need a refresher.
--twice that, and watch me do it.
There you go.
Yeah, like, are you going to sit
there and have conversations? - You know what?
This could be fun.
No, it's totally going to be fun.
[laughter]
I was so worried that nobody was going to be cool,
and everybody was just going to be crazy.
Well, I think they have glasses out here.
So you know there's, like, more people coming in.
Oh, there's gotta be.
What in the hell's going on?
There's gotta be more people, more Houseguests coming in,
but who?
I was sizing them up.
I was seeing what their personalities were like.
And I was trying to see if there were any allies in the group.
My name is Erika.
I'm originally from Chicago, Illinois.
I live here.
I've lived here for a long time, it seems like.
And I'm a Pilates instructor, so.
Erika, I thought, you know, she's great-looking, obviously
surgically enhanced boobalage.
She's a great-looking girl, but she's .
So she's kind of at her peak on the way down.
I'm Jun.
I'm , from New York, and I'm in finance.
Kind of, like, time to kind of decide what I want to do,
because I'm so not cookie cutter finance, as you can see.
It's funny.
When I first saw you, I said, cookie cutter.
[laughs]
Jun is very flirtatious.
She definitely-- you could tell she likes to fool around.
She likes to have a good time. - Go ahead.
My name is Nathan.
I'm from Edmond, Oklahoma.
Nathan is, like, he's not the hottest thing on the planet.
Oh my god.
I'm just recently graduated from college,
and I'm a personal trainer.
At first, I looked at Nathan, and I
caught him a couple of times trying to just,
you know, see what was under my skirt.
I'm Alison.
You guys can call me Ali.
Whatever you want to call me, it's OK.
I think Alison's adorable.
She's very young.
But she's very cute, very sweet.
I was just a retail manager.
I was just trying to get money for another year
to go to law school, where I'm planning
on going into health law.
- Wonderful, congratulations. - That's my story.
- Cool. - Cool.
Alison, I thought her [inaudible] was a little short,
the skirt.
And it's not certainly something I would have been,
you know, wearing, but it looked cute on her, you know.
- My turn? - Yep.
Great.
No, we're going to skip you and just
go back around the room again. - Do it again.
[inaudible], yeah.
OK.
I'm Dana, and I'm from New York.
I live in Bayside, Queens.
Ooh, Bayside girl.
I am-- I actually manage a karate school in New York.
I like Dana.
She's definitely a cute girl, and she seems very forward.
And you know what? I'm kind of, like--
I'll tell you guys right now off the bat.
I'm a little OCD about some things, you know,
like I just like to be clean, you know--
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean that.
All right, [inaudible]
[laughter]
No, it's not that bad.
I'll put it in my pocket, OK?
Stop it.
I'll put it away later.
I didn't mean it like that.
Don't mess with Bayside chick.
Yeah.
[laughter]
My name's Scott.
I'm from Chicago.
I'm originally from New York City.
I'm a Scorpio, and I love long walks along the beach.
Scott, I thought he was g*y from the way he dressed.
Actually, I'm a waiter at Chicago Chop House,
the number one steakhouse--
Cool.
--in the country.
And that's what I do.
I'm Jack.
I'm from Birmingham, Alabama.
I used to be an FBI agent.
Really?
Get the hell out of here!
That's way cool.
Yeah, that's awesome.
Oh crap.
If Jack was in the FBI and did the time that he set he did,
then I think Jack's going to be a tremendously
good player at this.
Oh, my name's Dave.
I just got out of the Army.
I was a Ranger for three years, so.
Oh, fresh.
I'm not allowed to talk about my time spent out
of the country due to it will endanger future operations
of the Rangers.
When I was in, I was like, man, when I get out,
I just want to get a place down by the beach, surf every day,
and just relax, and get the vacation that I've
been deserving for a while.
Well, David being a Ranger, first of all, it's a total
turn-on for any woman.
I mean, it's very manly, almost a gentleman.
I guess you think "Officer and a Gentleman" type, you know,
stuff.
When I heard that David was in the military,
I felt that we would hit it off right away.
We can talk the same language about discipline and order.
But yeah, so--
So can you talk about some fun stories?
- Yeah. - That's cool.
Oh, yes.
He's probably got some good ones.
- Yeah. - Mm-hmm, that's really cool.
I love your accent.
Me?
[laughs]
Yeah, it is cool, man.
I'm definitely going to claim my role of happy-go-lucky girl,
but, you know, my wheels are going to be turning.
They already think I'm like this,
you know, high-maintenance, sassy, New York sexy chick.
But I'm here to win.
I'm going to win.
Should we have a toast?
Yeah, we definitely need to toast.
So screw the rest of the five.
Who is going to be the [inaudible]??
[laughter]
[lively chatter]
Who wants a shot [inaudible]?
Somebody's gotta do it.
"Big Brother ," baby. "Big Brother ."
ALL: "Big Brother ."
- Here we go. - Congratulations.
Yea.
Bing.
In the "Big Brother" house, nothing can be taken
for granted, not even food.
Next, our first food competition.
Then later, the X-Factor is revealed to the Houseguests.
There's no telling how they'll react to this extreme twist.
Even we don't know.
[music playing]
Welcome back to "Big Brother ."
The eight Houseguests have been getting to know
each other and their new home.
Now it's time for their first competition
and a chance to learn some revealing facts
about each other.
Hi, Houseguests.
Hi, Julie.
Whoa, there she is.
JULIE: Is everyone settling in OK?
Rawr.
Yup.
You look very comfortable in your new home.
Yeah.
Now, I want everyone to take a look at the kitchen cabinets.
Not much there but peanut butter and jelly.
That's because each week you must win the food that you eat,
and tonight is your first food competition.
You win, and you get some real food for the week.
You lose, and it's nothing but PB&J.
- Ugh, good Lord. - Yeah.
- Yeah. - [inaudible]
I'm going to peanut butter and jelly before it's over with.
Fish.
Bloop, bloop.
JULIE: All right, Houseguests, the time has come.
Everyone outside to the backyard.
I really wanted us to win the competition as a group.
All right, guys. Let's do this.
Woo-hoo!
It was our first competition.
It was the first, like, sign of unity
that we could give to each other.
[dramatic music]
--the world.
You know, we walked out, and we saw these, like, Xs.
I'm thinking, oh, man, what are we--
we're going to have to ride this thing.
Like, how's this working?
JULIE: All right, Houseguests.
As you can see, with this competition,
X really does mark the spot.
Once the beams come down, I'd like all of you
to stand on the beams.
I need four people on each beam, both groups facing each other.
We shouldn't have had champagne.
[laughs]
Champagne-- no good.
All you could think about was champagne.
Yeah, thanks for giving us all the champagne.
One by one--
We need to--
--in alphabetical order, I will ask each of you a true
or false question about the eight of you here based
on questionnaires you all filled out before entering the house.
Now, if you answer the question correctly, I'll move on.
But if you give a wrong answer, the beams will rise higher
off the ground, like this.
Oh my god!
That's all right. That's all right.
OK, stay up there.
I got screwed by standing on, you know, that last--
the edge, because that was at the highest angle at all times,
and I was wearing a tiny little skirt.
So I'm sure everyone got to see everything.
JULIE: Now remember, each of you will be asked one question.
If, after eight questions, no more than two of you
have fallen off the beams, you all win.
If three or more of you fall, it's PB&J for everyone.
I was actually not really worried
about this competition at all because I'm a dancer,
so I have incredible balance.
I wasn't worried at all.
Good luck.
All right, let's get the competition underway.
The first question is for Alison.
One of you is a vegetarian, true or false?
[beating drum roll]
True.
That is incorrect.
None of you are vegetarians.
Be ready.
You're all right.
Dana-- more women than men here
say they have broken off their engagement, true or false?
[beating drum roll]
I was so nervous.
True?
- That's incorrect. - Be ready.
That's all right. That's all right.
- OK. - I'm sorry, guys.
- [inaudible] no. - Hold on.
Let's raise this puppy up, mothers.
- Oh my god. - That's not bad.
That's not bad. - Hello.
- You doing all right? - I'm great.
Look at Scott up here.
Yeah!
[claps]
Stop moving.
- David-- - Scotty-doo.
h*!
JULIE: One person here is a virgin, true or false?
Pff.
I knew looking around wasn't going to really help me
any, because I mean, I can't just look at someone, and go,
yep, there's a-- that's a virgin right there.
Or, yep, that's definitely not a virgin.
There's a virgin.
True.
JULIE: That is incorrect.
- Oh, sh**t. - It's all right.
It's all right.
Come on, man.
Oh my god!
Hold on.
Hold on, guys.
Dig your toes in. Dig your toes in.
Do not fall.
No one's a virgin, thank god.
That means there won't be any uptight people about sex.
JULIE: Erika-- - Great.
- Yes? - Erika.
Come on, Erika.
JULIE: When asked which two creature comforts you would
bring with you to a desert island, one of you
replied a monkey and tiger, true or false?
God, I hope that's false.
Don't you think it's odd that your creature
comforts on a desert island would be a monkey and a tiger?
JULIE: What is your answer?
False.
That is incorrect.
Oh, [muted].
I think I said a tiger, but definitely not a monkey.
I would not want to be stranded on a deserted island
with a monkey. - Come on.
- Give it to me, Jules. - You got it.
You got it. - All right.
You guys are doing really well.
[laughter]
Just hang in there.
And it would be nice if one of you
gets the next question-- or any of the questions-- correct.
It should go down if we get it right.
Yeah, yeah.
Well, that's not part of the rules, Dana.
But good try.
Jack--
Yes.
Since I'm the oldest Houseguest, I was saying to myself,
under no circumstances will I be the first one to fall off here.
All of the girls listed shopping
as one of the things they will miss
the most while being in the "Big Brother" house, true or false?
False.
JULIE: That is correct.
[cheering]
It was terrific to be the first one
to answer a question correctly.
Jun--
Yes.
JULIE: One of the men here is openly g*y, true or false?
q*eer or--
I'm going to say--
false.
That is correct.
Yeah!
Nice, Jun.
Nathan-- less than half of you believe in love at first sight,
true or false?
True.
JULIE: That is incorrect.
Just hold on and lean your weight.
Oh my god.
Yeah, I'm totally sliding.
One more question, right?
Scott, this is the last question.
So I was definitely jittery.
I was a little nervous.
Now, how you answer could determine if the entire house
eats PB&J for the week or if you get a kitchen
stocked with groceries.
Then the last thing I wanted to do is let the house down.
Here we go.
Over half of the men here said that breasts
are their favorite body part on a woman, true or false?
False.
JULIE: That is correct. - Yes!
Yeah! [applause]
Congratulations, Houseguests.
[cheering]
You've won groceries for the week.
Woo!
JULIE: We're going to bring the beams down, so hang on.
Good job, guys.
Oh my god.
And enjoy the groceries that will soon be coming your way.
And I'll check back in with all of you in just a bit.
Nice job, Houseguests.
- Way to go, awesome. - We did it.
- We did it. - Good job.
Good job.
What is up?
[lively chatter]
When we return, the X-Factor is revealed.
Five of the Houseguests are about to get the shock
of their lives when they are joined by their ex-boyfriends
and ex-girlfriends.
How will they react?
Find out when we return.
[music playing]
Welcome back.
The eight Houseguests are settling
into the "Big Brother" house.
They've selected beds, and they've won
their first food competition.
They're getting to know each other,
and the strategizing has begun.
But in just a moment, everything this group thought
they knew about "Big Brother" will be turned on its head
as the X-Factor is revealed.
Hi, Houseguests.
ALL: Hi, Julie.
Everyone settling in OK?
Oh, yeah. JULIE: Comfortable?
We're bonding.
Yeah, we're bonding.
Good.
Good to hear that, because things are about to change.
You have been told to expect the unexpected.
So brace yourself for the first big twist.
As you've noticed, there are only eight of you.
Well, that number is about to increase by .
Oh.
What?
Are you ready to find out about your new roommates?
- Yeah. - No.
JULIE: The five people who will soon be entering your new home
aren't just random men or women.
In fact, some of you will know them intimately,
because in a twist we call the X-Factor, five of you will be--
No!
JULIE: --soon joined by your ex-boyfriends
or ex-girlfriends. - Shut up!
Oh my god!
Don't even tell me that.
Oh, jeez, no.
Send them away.
Don't tell me that.
I gotta go home.
I hate "Big Brother!"
Hate you.
Who will be reuniting with their ex?
God, I know--
Guys, let's get them all out of here.
JULIE: You'll find out soon enough.
Now, we haven't told these exes about the surprise.
They will come face to face with it for the first time when
they walk through the door.
The final five will be joining you shortly.
I know that my current boyfriend is
not going to have any of this.
And I mean, I have to take that into consideration
and put that in the game as well,
because now that's going to change my whole strategy.
If there's an ex of mine, you don't listen to her.
I won't listen to any of yours. - Son of b*tch.
- Trust me. - Listen, listen.
Nah, this is crazy.
My ex lives in [muted] now.
I don't go to school.
My ex lives in LA now with his new girlfriend.
Oh my god.
- With his new girlfriend. - Oh no.
That might be you.
I'm scared, you know.
I'm like-- I'm just--
I'm in disbelief.
I can't believe it.
And I just-- I keep thinking to myself, he wouldn't do this.
He wouldn't do this.
But with my luck, he would, and he's going to come
walking through the door.
I do not want my ex here at all.
With my past relationship, we didn't end on great terms.
So I think it would be a long summer if she's here.
I'm mad as hell, man.
Me too.
We were having a good time, and--
I was having a great time. I was like--
- They just-- yeah. - You know?
You know what's [muted] up?
I tell you what.
My friends at home are going to be like, Scott, you're a--
Yeah, dude.
You got yours, buddy.
I think all of our reactions are basically similar--
surprise, shock, a little anxiety,
a little bit upset, a little bit just thrown for a loop.
Jun, are you in that big bed in there?
- Yes. - Who are you--
- You don't have a-- - Oh my god!
What if I have to share my bed with my ex?
Shut up.
- Oh my god! - Oh god!
There's no way.
There's no way.
I think the X-Factor is wrong, but I
think it's amazingly creative and definitely a twist
we didn't expect.
One of us has got to get HOH, you know what I mean?
- Every time. - Every time.
We'll do it. We'll do it.
I think we're good. I think we can do it.
What if they're like--
I'm going to put both of them on the block.
--for your first week, you can't vote off an ex?
- Two new ones on the block. - Yep.
No way.
[inaudible]
They can do whatever they want.
So what?
If you can't put two on a block at once, you put one of them
and then one of us, and they go. - We've gotta get two up.
And on the vote-- we got it on the vote too.
Absolutely.
We're eight strong right now.
When we found out about The X-Factor, we made
a pact that the exes must go.
Because we got for a few weeks.
You can't break us.
I agree.
We cannot break the alliance.
I agree.
Everyone agreed across the board
that no one wants their ex here.
So that just completely cemented the whole pact that we had.
So nobody hook up with anyone's exes here.
You know what? It makes it easier here.
Yeah, don't hook up.
Do not do it.
Well, we can hook up.
We just have-- - No.
--to vote them off.
No.
[laughter]
I like your thinking.
All right then.
On that note--
Yeah, that's going to be [inaudible]..
They're all going to try to charm us.
Exes are [inaudible].
We can't let them.
You know what?
We have the majority, and we just have to get HOH.
- We gotta be cool about it. - Just be Kool & the g*ng.
- You gotta be cool about it. - Kool & the g*ng.
You know, they're exes for a reason, so.
I hope he falls over when he sees me.
Totally.
They're exes for a reason, just remember that.
Kool & the g*ng.
Bring them on.
Let's go.
They're out.
So I really-- you know what?
Let's do it.
Bring them in here.
I'm ready.
The question is which ex are we going to vote off first?
It is a little bit scary, you know,
trying to-- to be forced in with your ex in this house,
you know, when you can't get away from them.
It's three guys, two girls.
This sucks.
And I think--
OK, because my ex has an earring.
And so I'm thinking that's an earring right there.
And if that's him, I'll flip the [muted] out.
No, this looks like mine, because mine's, like, little,
and he kind of has a hunch.
Really?
I don't think my ex coming into the house
would be an advantage for me because we
don't get along very well.
We haven't talked in years.
If mine tries to form something with me,
I'll pretend.
I'll be like, ooh, no problem.
Yeah, that's what you've got to do.
And their a*s will be sitting right here.
- Right. - I'll be like--
- That's what you've gotta do. - Yeah, it's funny.
Like, we say that now.
All of a sudden, we're all sucking faces
with our ex in about two days.
Yeah, I'll suck face. I don't care.
- I'm talking about no way. - I'm into sucking--
I won't. Piss on that.
- You're sucking face? - Suck face.
I won't.
It's an ex-boyfriend moving into the same house as me.
And I didn't live with him before,
and I don't want to live with him now.
So I'm hoping that as soon as he walks in this door,
he's walking right back out.
No, you're all right, sweetie, seriously.
I wouldn't worry till they walk in the door, seriously.
Let's hope it's not my ex.
Because they try to psych everybody out.
Don't bug out yet.
Alison is totally flipping out about the whole X-Factor.
I don't think she ended her relationship very well.
So she's flipping out, and you can see it in her face.
And she looks like a little girl--
very vulnerable right now.
Right now, I'm just like, please don't be my ex.
Please don't be my ex.
We have our pact.
And he'll be gone quicker than he came.
You know what I'm saying?
Do not worry about that.
They asked the questions like--
- I was so afraid of this. - Do not worry.
- I'm so afraid of this. - Don't worry about it.
No, no, no.
Thank you.
[music playing]
Welcome back.
The eight Houseguests have just been
hit with a major new twist, the X-Factor.
Five of them are about to be joined by ex-boyfriends
or ex-girlfriends, but they don't know which of them will
be forced to face their past.
Each of these five broke up with their exes
for different reasons.
Some harbor bad feelings, while others may
be hoping for a second chance.
A few days ago, without revealing the twist,
we spoke to each ex separately and pieced together
both sides of their stories.
[whoosh]
I've had, like, four or five serious relationships.
And I'm single right now.
I was engaged,
We dated for eight months, and then he proposed to me.
I accepted.
We moved in together.
It took us, like, two weeks to [muted] when we
first moved in, and I was like, what
the [muted] is going on here?
He didn't like a lot of my friends.
He was a little paranoid at times.
It got tiresome that she left the house like a pig sty.
It got tiresome that she didn't clean up after herself.
The fact of living with someone
and never being able to escape it, it sucks.
Amanda Craig-- someone I wouldn't want coming
in the house to visit me.
My boyfriend knows that I'm a little bit of a flirt.
So I think he's expecting me to flirt a little bit,
but he told me that if he sees something on TV that he doesn't
approve of, he's done watching.
And that basically means it's over.
I was seeing a girl pretty much
the whole entire school year.
Her name was Alison.
That pseudo-lasted seven months.
The reason why things were so smooth all year
was because I was wrestling, and she was on the dance team.
As soon as his season ended, it was like a totally
different person came out.
We had all this free time, so we
started seeing each other more.
He just totally changed.
It was the scariest thing ever.
She'd come over drunk, making a scene or something like that,
and she climbed up my fire escape a couple of nights
at like : in the morning.
And I was, like, hiding in the house with all the lights off.
Got rid of him real fast.
I don't date Asian men.
I only date Caucasian males.
We had, like, a one bedroom apartment,
and we lived together for about, like, until I was years old.
My first boyfriend I thought I would marry.
He was Korean.
She's a very Americanized Korean,
and I didn't, obviously, share the same,
you know, values and beliefs as she did.
With Korean men in general, they want you
to be home to make them dinner.
They want you to do the laundry.
They want you to do the cleaning.
I realized towards the end that I wasn't in love with her.
I take it for what it is.
It was an experience.
It was a past relationship that I learned from,
and that's why I don't date Asian men anymore.
I'm single, which is how I want to stay
until I'm, like, , I think.
David was my serious boyfriend my freshman
year of high school.
I wanted to have sex with her, and she was too--
you know, she wasn't ready.
He might of, like, insinuated it once.
But as soon as I was like, David, I'm , and no--
I was getting kind of frustrated,
and then we ended up arguing all the time.
If I remember correctly, he wasn't even sexually active.
The thing that made that breakup, I think,
was sexual frustration.
I was really young and immature.
And I have grown up a lot since then.
I date, you know, but no one that I would, like,
call my boyfriend, I guess.
My last technical boyfriend was Robert.
I don't like being tied down.
I don't like not seeing other women, which, of course,
that ended up happening.
Because I found out that he cheated on me with someone
that I worked with.
Yes, I did, like everyone else I have ever been out with.
Yeah, I cheated on her.
[laughs]
Because I checked his answering machine,
and she had left him a message.
It was a girl we worked with, and she recognized her voice.
So it was [muted] screwed up.
I don't know if I technically got him fired,
but I think I helped in getting him get fired.
[laughs]
Now it's time to meet the exes who make up the X-Factor.
Hi, everyone. - What's up?
Hey, Julie. You still here?
Hi, Julie.
I thought you had gone home, Julie.
Now, everyone has obviously given a lot of thought
as to who might be walking through that door.
For those of you about to be reunited with an ex,
will your personal history hinder or help your strategy?
For those of you who won't know the people walking
through the front door, will this be
an advantage or disadvantage?
Ultimately, it will be up to you to decide
how the X-Factor will play out.
Get ready, because in just a few minutes,
you'll be meeting your five new roommates.
Good luck.
When we come back, The X-Factor will heat things
up as old flames are reunited.
[music playing]
[music playing]
Our remaining five Houseguests are waiting behind me.
In a moment, they'll enter the "Big Brother" house.
Welcome, Houseguests.
I'm Julie.
I want you all to take a good look at the men
and women around you.
They are part of your new family.
Now, you'll get to know each other very
well over the coming months.
And among these people, you may find your new best friend
or you may find your own worst enemy.
But remember, ultimately, each of you is on your own.
You five are the last to enter the house.
Eight of your roommates have already
moved in and chosen their beds.
They also won the first food competition, which means you
have groceries for the week.
You've been warned to expect the unexpected.
The unexpected begins tonight.
It's time to begin "Big Brother --
The X-Factor."
Go on inside, and good luck.
Here we go.
[inaudible]
Remember alley cat.
[inaudible]
This doesn't-- it still doesn't feel real.
I swear. It just--
I know.
[suspenseful music]
--on the table.
What's up, guys?
Hello.
Oh, I don't know.
Oh my--
Hello, everyone.
What's up, bro?
Hello.
What are you doing here?
Oh.
Hey, hey, hey.
- Hi, everyone. - Holy hell.
Oh my goodness.
How are you?
Oh god.
Robert, nice to meet you.
Hi, Robert, I'm Ali.
Hi, I'm Michelle.
Hi.
Holy hell.
Hello. How are you?
- [inaudible] - Pretty good.
How are you doing? Hey, good to see you.
- What's up, guys? - Hi.
- What's happening? - They were asking me about you.
- What's up, buddy? - So I'm like--
- Justin. - Justin?
- Justin. - I'm Jack.
Jack? Pleasure.
Good to see you.
How you been?
You've been all right?
Watching him walk through that door
definitely made me feel sick, and then it pissed me off.
[inaudible]
I don't feel alone.
I can't [muted] believe this.
That's all.
You know, I--
I knew it was going to be Amanda, and I was honestly--
I was pissed off, because she could
manipulate and tell people anything she wants about me.
Oh my god.
[laughs]
Where are we at?
[inaudible] here.
[inaudible]
Well, there's only--
Ugh.
There's only five of us.
That was my ex that was sitting right next to me.
Obviously--
You gotta be--
- [inaudible] - Right over there.
- I know him. - What's his name?
Robert.
Is he--
I have to go throw up or something.
Hey, I'm sorry, man.
I forgot your name already. - Robert, dude.
- Robert? - Yeah.
Is it Robert?
Do you go by that or you go by Rob or--
"Rob-ert."
Robert.
All right, man.
So bad.
This is so bad.
This is so bad.
Like, this is--
This is, like, my nightmare.
What you see right now is not her being
the b*tch that she can be.
I don't know.
I'm very wow right now.
Michelle is the only girl that I've
stayed friends with as an ex.
But the fact of the matter, she's gotta go.
The first thing I thought was, where's the door?
My poor boyfriend at home, [CRYING] I know that he's
gonna hurt when he sees this.
I don't want him here. I don't want him here at all.
No, no, no. Don't cry.
It's bound to be an unpredictable summer.
Tune in tomorrow night to see how
the exes survive their first night back together.
But that's just the beginning.
Here's what else is coming up on "Big Brother ."
Throw some exes on here--
pff.
Oh well, just more people that gotta go quicker.
NARRATOR: It's a season of shocks and surprises--
[screams]

NARRATOR: Will former flames turn into allies?

I don't know.
NARRATOR: Or will the X-Factor claim its first victim?
I was trying to have a mature conversation with you.
Actually, shut up.
I've had enough of you.
NARRATOR: And then, find out who will
win the ultimate position of power, the Head of Household.
On Friday at : PM Eastern, : Central,
find out which two Houseguests that person
will nominate for eviction.

[laughs]
The plan is in place.
NARRATOR: Watch it unfold all summer long on "Big Brother ."
I'll see you again tomorrow night
at : Eastern, : Central.
From outside the "Big Brother" house, I'm Julie Chen.
