Welcome to your new

It's not usually this lively.

- Sergeant Marlene Pettigrew.

- I'm looking forward to
working with you both.

Callum, was it?

Sorry - only had an eyeliner.

- I'll call it in.

- I bet you weren't expecting

to stumble across a prison break
on your way to your new job?

- Who was the prisoner?

- Er, Maura Hughes, 33.

Born and bred here.

In jail for murdering a farmer,
Sam Dolan, 15 years ago.

- So where were they taking her?

- Just a routine
hospital appointment.

I spoke to the prison officers

and they said the road
was blocked by this tree.

And when they got
out to shift it,

your masked man
pulled up behind them,

shot out a few tyres and then
handcuffed the officers to the van.

We found these.

- Yeah, I thought that
was a shotgun I heard.

- The weird thing being...

Maura Hughes is getting
released in eight months,

after serving 15 years,
so, why break out now?

It makes absolutely no sense.

- The Range Rover that
passed you is registered

to Paul and Mary Chambers.

- Well, they're on their jollies,
cruising round the Canaries.

- How would Control

- Finn, not now.

- Well, fair play to you, woman,
you didn't even break a sweat.

- I've had scarier trips
to the chiropodist's!

- Er, Marlene and Callum
sent their apologies.

Something urgent.

- Well, I suppose I better
go and see what it was.

Listen, what's the holdup?

Can I not just move back
in? We can be together.

- You're coming home?

- Mind your business, Big Ears.
- Mum?

- I am not having this

Now, go on, the lot of yous.

And don't give me THAT look.

I want Finn home as

- Excuse the get-up.

I've, er, I've just been
doing a charity bungee jump.

- Good for you. Marlene said
you'd be able to fill us in

on this escaped
prisoner, Maura Hughes.

- Yeah, er, I didn't work the
case, but I do remember it.

Late one night,
Maura phoned 999,

told the operator that
she'd just k*lled Sam Dolan.

- How?

- Hit him over the
back of the head.

- Do we know why?

- She was working on his farm,

said he'd trumped up some
reason not to pay her.

- Like, I know you shouldn't
speak ill of the dead but,

Sam Dolan was a horrible man.

Like, I remember when
I was a wee nipper,

you wouldn't dare go near his place.
- OK, thanks, bye.

That was Paul Chambers.

So, the fob for the Range Rover
is kept in a kitchen drawer.

Two people have
keys to the house.

- And who are they?
- The cleaner, Joyce.

But she's away to
Dunfanaghy for a fortnight.

And the other person is the
gardener, Michael McVeigh.

- Ah...

- What's the big deal
with Michael McVeigh?

- He's married to Maura
Hughes's sister, Diana.

What's wrong?

- No. Of course not.

- I know I drive him up

- Finn loves you.

And nothing you could say
or do will change that.

- Of course Maura hasn't
been in contact with me.

- When did you last
see your sister?

On the day she was sentenced.

Maura's always been trouble.

From the day she was born.

- So you're saying it's my fault that
Finn can't go home to his family?

- I didn't say THAT.

But it's true.

- You couldn't just
pretend you didn't know?

- That you're not
Finn's birth mother?

Concepta, you may be comfortable
lying to Finn but I'm not.

And before you start, yes, I
have lied to my husband before.

And look where that got me.

- Where were you between
eight and ten, Michael?

- Between eight and
ten this morning?

I was setting up the
tombola. Ask Barry.

- When was the
last time you were

at Paul and Mary
Chambers' place, Michael?

- About a couple of weeks ago.

I look after their garden.

- You got a key to the house?

- Yeah.

- Have you ever driven
the Chambers' Range Rover?

- No. Why would I?

Was it used in the prison break?

- Would you happen to know where
Paul and Mary kept the key fob

for the Range Rover?
- No.

Hang on a minute.

You think I used this key
to get into their house,

then nicked their car?

First of all, the Chambers
leave a key under the plant pot,

so anyone could
have got in. Second,

me and Diana, we have
no contact with Maura.

What she did, all those years
ago, it broke Diana's heart.

- Were you and Diana seeing each other
at the time Sam Dolan was k*lled?

- We started going
out at school.

Whoever helped Maura this
morning, it wasn't us.

We want nothing to do with her.

- I heard that you had a
registered shotgun, Michael.

Can you tell me where it is?

- Of course.

It's being repaired.

Conall O'Gorman's
place on Ship Street.

- That retired police officer...

- Er, Uncle Barry?
- Yeah.

He said that Michael McVeigh
was at the stall on and off.

- That's hard to prove
one way or another,

so we can't rule him out.
- Hmm.

Callum, can you talk
to Conall O'Gorman,

just confirm Michael McVeigh's shotgun's in for repair?
- Yeah.

On it.

- Hello.
- Hey!

What's up?
- Finn, I-I need you to come with me.

- I'm kind of busy.

- It's important.
- We can spare you, Inspector,

- Are the kids OK?
- They're fine.

Only take a half an

phone-box, dialled 999.

Told them that I
had k*lled a man.

- What was today all about?

Why break out of prison
and steal the iron?

- That's all down
to your Uncle Barry.

- REPORTER: - We spoke
to Barry Pettigrew,

who has recently taken over the
running of Port Devine Museum.

- Yes, you see, each and every one of
these exhibits has a story to tell.

And as an ex-police officer,

I'm determined to
leave no stone unturned

in investigating these stories.

- So, Maura saw
this and panicked.

- She rang Michael last night.

Begged him to break her out.

For Diana's sake.
- What a mess!

- PHONE RINGS

- I've gotta take this.

- So, we can charge
all three of them.

- Quite a result.
- Hmm.

- Before we charge them,

Maura is very, very
keen to see her sister.

- Is that not against the rules?

- We sometimes do things
differently in Port Devine.

- Diana!

Diana, I am so sorry.

- Why are you sorry?

You gave up 15 years
of your life for me.

- And now I've
screwed it all up.

- Since you went to jail, I haven't
had a single night of proper sleep.

I think what you've done today
will finally set me free.

- Hi. There you are.

So, I, er, I was talking
to my mate in Belfast.

And she was telling me that
a witness has come forward.

A-a fisherman who saw
Al pull his g*n on you.

- Yeah.

I had the Chief Super
on the phone earlier,

telling me I'm in the clear.

- I'm really sorry, Finn.

I'm sorry I doubted you.

- Listen, Marlene, Al
was my friend so...

..I might not have let him
go, but I did hesitate.

- Oh, sure.

We're only human, right?

- As long as we're still pals.

- I don't know.

Nah, I'm afraid your
stuck with me, mate.

So, a few of us are
going to introduce Jo

to the delights of The Commodore.
- Nice. - Mm.

Do you fancy it?

- I'll come down later.

I've got something I need
to take care of first.

- OK.

- THEY LAUGH

- That song did the
trick then, Clint?

- Oh, now, Taylor, don't
be getting embarrassed.

You're like a member of the family
now that you're living with us.

- Thanks again for taking me in.

- Oh, we love having you here.

- MUSIC PLAYS

Where is that coming from?

- I recorded the whole thing.

- You clever boy!

- And I've uploaded it...

- Where to?

- Social media.

You've got 5,000 likes.

You're going viral.
- Fame at last.

- I wish you'd have
checked with me first.

I'm... a wee bit pitchy on
some of them high notes.

- Email it to me. I'm gonna
send it to all of my friends.

- Before you do that, will you give
us a hand setting up for tonight?

- Oh, OK.

- So, where's the Inspector?

- He had to nip home.

Well, not "home" home.

He's living at his ma's.

- What, he doesn't
live with his wife?

- I probably shouldn't
say too much.

- No. I suppose not.

- But you know Al who
was here before you?

Siobhan and Al, they were...

- No, they weren't?
- Yeah.

His missus and his best mate.

- You know, for a straight lad, you
are a terrible wee gossip, Callum.

- Wait, you're straight?

- Erm, yeah.

- What's going on there?

- Is that smoke?

- The pub's on fire!

- Everybody back! Come on!

- Over this way.

- Someone's coming out!

Come on! Come on!

- Oh! I thought I'd lost you!

- JJ's a hero!
- You OK, wee love?

- I don't know what
I would have done.

- Everything's burning.

My heirlooms!

- Do we know if
anyone's still inside?

- I think everyone's out.

- A fire like this,
how does it even start?

- That's a question for
the fire investigators.

But don't you worry,

they'll soon find out how
a blaze like this started.

Hi.

- Finn.

I'm sorry...

..But she's gone.

- What do you mean?
She's gone where?

"I need some time.

"Don't look for me."

What's that supposed to mean?

- It means, rather than
answer your questions,

Concepta's done a runner.
