[MUSIC PLAYING]
And this is what we saw.
REPORTER: Is that the Green Goblin?
Ah.
For someone that's so concerned with security,
you sure keep some strange company, Mr. Osborn.
Why, you little rat!
[THEME MUSIC]
[CLAMORING]
REPORTER: We've got breaking news.
The Green Goblin's identity has been revealed.
It's Mr. Norman Osborn, the very same
business leader who had proposed the superhero regulation law.
The city's police department has been alerted.
They're due to arrive any minute to take him into custody.
Wow, aren't you popular?
I'm kind of getting jealous up here.
Why'd you do it?
Mr. Osborn, why did you disguise yourself as the Green Goblin?
[SOFT CHUCKLE] Since you're all so curious, I'll tell you.
I plan to rid society of annoying superheroes
and bring fear and chaos back into our weak desperate world.
It's a rather superb idea, don't you think?
Hm, he's finally shown his true colors.
Now what?
Do we just hang out until the police arrive?
Nope, I wish we could, but we can't let our guard down.
[SIREN]
Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, dum.
It's showtime, folks.
What gives?
The show just got started and you take off to the green room?
Anybody home?
So we're playing hide and seek now?
Oh, my bad, I thought we were going to play
rock paper scissors to decide who goes first.
[TSK]
[GASP] Oh.
[SMALL CACKLE]
OK.
[GASP]
Spider-Man!
[CRASH]
Get back everyone!
Back!
Wait, is that--
It's the Hulkbuster.
Surprise!
The Green Goblin?
It can't be.
Yep, unfortunately, that's him.
[CACKLING]
REPORTER: If I wasn't seeing it with my own eyes,
I wouldn't believe it.
New York City is under attack yet again.
We're witnessing the destructive power of Tony Stark's
super armor, the Hulkbuster, now that it's
being worn by Norman Osborn--
sorry, the Green Goblin.
Spider-Man is trying his best to stop him, but things look grim.
[PANTING] How on earth did Norman
get his hands on the control codes for my Hulkbuster armor?
FRIDAY: My initial investigation indicates
that he is using a device that manually overrides
and controls the entire system.
I'll put a stop to that.
FRIDAY, activate remote control mode.
It's time we took back the reins of the Hulkbuster.
FRIDAY: Yes, Mr. Stark.
[BUZZING]
What's going on?
FRIDAY: It's the Hulkbuster.
It won't accept our remote commands.
Say that again?
Whoa.
Hey, wait, what?
A New York specialty, get your flying hot dogs.
Whoa, hey, hey, hey.
Something tells me green goblin isn't a real New Yorker.
Everybody in this town respects our hot dog carts.
Hey, buddy, don't I know you?
Whoa, hey, thanks, Spider-Man.
You just scored free dogs for life.
Thanks.
FYI, I like mine with sauerkraut.
Now what?
[SCREAMING]
Alleyoop!
Flying passengers in despair?
That's what I call high drama.
Something tells me this route wasn't on the bus
tour they signed up for.
[GRUNT]
He did it.
He's so awesome.
I knew it.
Spider-Man is New York's hero.
What are you kids doing out there?
It's too dangerous for you on the street.
Come over here, quick.
Huh?
You guys are in danger.
Now, move!
That looks fun.
Do you have room for me?
Sorry, but we're over capacity.
Do you like dancing?
I saw this great routine in a Broadway
musical once. (SINGING) Da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da.
SPIDER-MAN: Hey, Gobby, you might
want to spend less time on destroying the city and more
time on your singing lessons.
You can do it!
Hang in there.
We know you can beat him.
Don't let go.
It's an incredible test of good versus evil.
Right now, citizens and our friendly neighborhood
Spider-Man are in grave danger.
Dozens of innocent lives are at stake.
And Spider-Man has put his own life on the line to save them,
but that may not be enough.
Spider-Man alone can't stop the Green Goblin's delirious
rampage in the Hulkbuster suit.
[BUZZING]
Ugh.
FRIDAY: Attempt failed.
We are unable to breach the Hulkbuster's security.
Why can't we get in?
FRIDAY: It seems the Green Goblin
temporarily changed the suit's unique biometric authentication
code.
Of course he did.
ADI: Tony.
What is it?
Have you been able to shut down the Hulkbuster
from your location?
I've been working on it, kid, but I
can't get access to the system.
Then what do we do?
Look at him, using my brilliant invention
just to wreak havoc on people.
Maybe this spectacle can serve as a Warning and wake-up call.
Even a tool of justice can become
a threat to the entire world should
it fall into the wrong hands.
That is precisely the dangerous situation
we are witnessing right now.
It may seem odd to say this, but Norman Osborn may
not have been entirely wrong.
He warned us that the work of superheroes like the Avengers
is a danger to society.
No that's not true.
It's villains like the Green Goblin who are the threat.
He might have stolen Iron Man's suit,
but he didn't steal the Avengers' commitment to fight
for justice, to fight for us.
OK, FRIDAY, let's give it another shot.
We have to stop the Hulkbuster.
FRIDAY: I have already tried 360,000 modes of entry.
Despite these attempts, I was unable to discover a route
into such a secure system.
But we can't give up now.
I built that system from the ground up,
so there's only one person in the world who can hack into it.
And that person is me, Tony Stark.
Adi--
We stay strong.
Our hope is fuel to fight on.
I'm sure Makoto wouldn't have given
up yet, so neither can we.
You got that right.
How much longer 'til we reach New York?
Don't be impatient.
I can't help it.
We need to put a stop to him right now.
Come on, hurry up, Wasp.
Can't you make this thing fly faster?
Hey, you don't have any right to complain.
Remember, you're the reason we have to fly
this long in the first place.
Whatever, just hurry it up.
Small problem, I can't feel my hands anymore.
That's bad, right?
Ah.
I hope you enjoyed the performance.
Now it's time for the grand finale.
Are you trying to ventilate?
Hey, if you're overheating and uncomfortable,
why don't you just take that hot suit off?
Bye, bye, Spidey.
Spider-Man!
What?
No!
Those piece of junk missiles!
Fine, have a taste of these instead.
Hey, how could I miss?
Worthless suit.
TONY STARK: Norman Osborn.
Huh?
TONY STARK: You're wasting your time.
Is that Tony Stark?
TONY STARK: See, I've jammed the calibration on the Hulkbuster's
weapon systems.
What does that mean?
TONY STARK: You're no longer in the driver's seat.
Sorry to interrupt, but I'm just a little bit confused.
Why is Iron Man's voice coming from the Hulkbuster?
I mean, normally, that's what I'd expect,
but, today, I was pretty sure the Green
Goblin was inside that thing.
Yeah, I know it's confusing.
This is Tony, but I'm not in the suit.
I'm using a remote function to talk.
SPIDER-MAN: Whew, thank you, the man formerly known as Iron Man.
Formerly known as Iron Man?
Spider-Man, just keep it to yourself.
Right now, I'm doing all I can to get back in that suit.
But what can I say?
It's a heck of a system that was brilliantly designed.
SPIDER-MAN: Hate to be a downer, but that heck of a system
is giving me a heck of a headache.
Oh.
Hey, New York boy, did you hear
about that great new Italian place on 3rd Avenue?
Would you like to check it out?
You know, I'd love to, but I'm busy this weekend.
Weekend, shmeekend.
Ah.
Oh!
So Tony, you really don't have any way of stopping this thing?
TONY STARK: Well, I do have one idea.
That may be the best news I've heard all day.
Fill me in.
It's a little complicated, but if we can freeze the armor's
entire system for just a moment, I
think I'd be able to hack in and recode its core to shut
down the Hulkbuster completely.
If we could send a high voltage current through its body,
that would do the trick.
High voltage?
From a power plant?
TONY STARK: Exactly.
But the closest one is way too far from here.
[GASP]
Look out, Spidey.
Ah!
Oh!
[ROAR]
What's that?
You saved us, Hulk.
Sorry to keep you waiting, Spider-Man.
Don't sweat it, buddy.
I know what New York traffic's like at this hour.
I'll take it from here.
He's here.
It's the Hulk!
He's awesome.
I thought you'd never come back.
Welcome home.
You too, Makoto.
OK, well, that puts an end to the worst case scenario.
Not yet.
This won't end till we stop him for good.
Well, well, look who's here.
It's my green-colored maniac.
Not quite, you're the green-colored maniac, Goblin.
Hulk, I'm sure you've got a lot to say to this guy,
but we should really focus on stopping him cold right now.
For me to take full control of the suit,
we need to paralyze him with massive voltage.
[GRUNT]
Hey, wait, not yet.
Let me finish explaining.
I get it.
We just need to get rid of this bulky trash, right?
My, oh, my, you're as powerful as ever, Hulk.
But I'm clearly far more powerful than you.
See what I mean about my power?
We're here.
No, stay out of this.
I am going to take him down myself.
But Hulk, we're a team.
Come and get it!
He did it.
Amazing.
You are the best, Hulk.
It's fantastic.
Hulk has returned to defend us.
Moments ago, he rescued innocent citizens.
And he's just smashed a terrible threat to all of New York.
Such incredible power, he's a true hero of the city.
No matter what evil tools others may get their hands on,
they can't defeat the righteous power of superheroes
like the Avengers.
What a geek.
That reporter was singing a different tune a while ago.
[CHUCKLING] That's what I call mission accomplished.
But you just might want to watch your step, big guy.
Yes, it's that time again, my big green monster,
time for some expl*sive mind-bending tricks.
What are those?
The same bombs that messed with Hulk's mind before.
No, Hulk, get away.
[GRUNT]
That's a good boy.
Take a few deep breaths and go to town.
Oh, no, Hulk has been exposed to more of those
dangerous mind-altering bombs.
Now what's wrong?
A big question, will he lose control of himself
like he did the last time?
Talk to me!
[GRUNTING]
Yeah, come on, Hulk.
You can trust your buddy Goblin when I say
there's nothing to worry about.
Just do what your heart's telling you and let it rip.
[GRUNTING]
Hey, what's the matter, Hulk?
Don't hold back.
Wreak havoc.
Look around.
There's no one to stop you.
Have a blast.
Yeah, go on.
Destroy everything.
Yes, I'll do that.
Huh?
Except there's a slight change in plans.
I'm destroying you.
Hold on there, Hulk.
Does that mean--
Hulk was able to fight it off this time.
It's not clear exactly what happened,
but Hulk seems to be unaffected.
Huh, I guess the big guy got more enlightened in the woods.
Whew, things are looking up.
Now I can take a little break, maybe?
Ah!
Ah!
Ah!
Hulk smash!
Where did the Hulk go?
Is he OK?
He'll be just fine.
Don't worry about him.
Are you sure?
He fell into that hole and hasn't come up yet.
No, he's under the street.
I saw an old map once.
I wonder--
Hey, FRIDAY, have you found them?
FRIDAY: This is a 3D rendering of the place where
Hulk and the Hulkbuster fell.
They've landed in an abandoned subway
line that's been sealed off.
That was amazing and painful.
You've got some impressive power,
but our battle is only getting started.
Nice try, but those puny things don't work on me anymore.
Oh, I don't know about that.
Look around you.
We are deep under the ground and air
tends to be stagnant down here.
Wee!
Boom.
Keep trying.
The result will be the same.
I know that, silly, but what I'm really after is
something more like this.
Pasta crush!
[GRUNT]
Where are you?
Tony, listen, you said that you needed high voltage.
Can a shock like that help you regain
control of the Hulkbuster?
Yes, it can.
Do you think the third rail on the subway line could do it?
It's a good idea, Adi, but there's only one problem.
There's no electricity on that line.
It hasn't been used in ages.
I've got an idea.
I'll try using my Technical Act to redirect electricity
so it runs on the old line.
And I'll do my best to increase the voltage
to the absolute highest limit.
Sounds like a plan.
Let's do it.
But we'll only have a short window of time.
You got that right, but since this is our only option,
we've got to give it a try.
That must be it.
OK, I'm ready.
All right, Adi, the ball's in your court.
[GRUNTING] [HIGH-FREQUENCY GRUNTING]
[CACKLE] I call this high impact aerobics.
It's almost lights out for you, friend.
Huh.
Who is that?
I can see you over there.
Aerial Act!
What's going on?
Makoto.
I'm not going to stay out of this fight, no way.
You little brat, go back to the playground.
[FIGHT NOISES]
Now, Adi, do it!
Technical Act!
Ah!
FRIDAY: Remote system control enabled.
Forced eject now.
Ah!
[GRUNT] Ah.
Ah, hold on, I give up.
I surrender.
Please, before you crush me, just hear me out.
I swear this wasn't my plan.
You've got to believe me.
I'm innocent.
I was just following orders.
What orders?
Who gave them?
What do you know?
Once I reveal his identity, I'll be finished
no matter how far I run.
He'll find me.
It's true.
He's the scariest person I've ever met.
And that person is me, yours truly!
I'll see you around.
[CACKLE] Hell yeah, Spider-Man.
So Gobby, how about that finale?
Oh.
[CACKLE]
That's enough for one day.
Ah, I'll make you pay for this, Spider-Man.
Warning, if you wiggle too much, I will drop you.
Oh, no, please don't let go.
Way to go, Spidey.
Man, that guy is awesome.
Hulk and Spider-Man are real heroes.
They saved the whole city.
Justice really does win in the end.
Of course it does.
Hm.
Thank you, Hulk.
Speaking for myself and the rest of this grateful city,
we always knew you'd return to save us.
Do you have any special words you'd like to share with
all your big fans out there?
Just one thing, watch your step.
Huh?
Ah!
Hey, guys, let me give you the update.
Norman Osborn, a.k.a.
the Green Goblin, was sentenced to 1,500 years for his crimes.
He is now safely behind bars on the Raft.
Exactly what we hope for.
So does this mean it'll get a little quieter in New York?
Maybe that's true for the citizens, but not for me.
You guys remember the city's misguided superhero regulation
law?
[APPLAUSE] Councilman Reiner's proposal
gained massive support.
Thanks to his leadership, the law was repealed.
So I'm back in the hero business.
That's great news.
It means the Avengers can get back to helping
you the way they always have.
SPIDER-MAN: That's right.
And we can thank the Hulk for restoring
the people's faith in us.
Yeah, if the Hulk hadn't come back,
there's no telling what state the city would be in right now.
In New York, Hulk's popularity is soaring.
They're selling these everywhere.
Whoa, that's awesome.
Uh-oh.
It's the hottest fashion trend in the city.
Well, hope you'll come back soon.
'Til then, take care.
Now, hang on just a minute here.
I believe I deserve some credit.
I was the one who came up with the idea of hacking
into the armor and ejecting the Green Goblin.
I mean, Adi helped out, of course.
But let's give some credit to the man that made
all of your success possible.
We didn't need you to do that.
Brag all you like, but Makoto and I
were doing fine without you.
Oh, really?
That's some tough talk, my friend.
Looks like I'll need to build an even bigger and better
Hulkbuster to see if you're really
as tough as you think you are.
Hey.
Oh, come on.
Cool it, guys.
Fine.
Go and make as many as you want.
It'll be more metal junk for the scrap heap.
OK, thanks for your encouragement.
I won't hold back when I design the next Hulkbuster armor.
Hm.
Hm.
Yeah, but--
Everything's all right, guys.
Their friendship is back to normal.
Are you sure?
I was worried.
Guess that was wasted energy.
[GIGGLING]
What is that kid talking about?
MAKOTO: Oh, never mind, never mind.
[GIGGLING]
[MUSIC PLAYING] Avengers.
Avengers.
Future Avengers.
Avengers.
Avengers.
Future Avengers.
Hey.
Avengers.
Future Avengers.
NARRATOR: The team can't let their guard down even
after they've defeated the Green Goblin,
so Tony improves his Iron Man armor to prepare for even
more powerful villains.
But to everyone's surprise, his new booster
gets hacked by a familiar face from the past.
Iron Man's only hope is an ally who
can fly at supersonic speeds.
Looks like it's up to you, Makoto.
