01x12 - The Final Victory of Doctor Doom

Post by bunniefuu »

It was the world's strangest accident

while testing a new rocket ship.

Our heroes were bombarded by mysterious

cosmic rays from outer space.

Though they crash-landed safely, the

strange and powerful rays had changed

each one of them, transforming their

leader, Reed Richards, into the

plastic-skinned Mr. Fantastic.

Sue Richards into the Now You See Her,

Now You Don't Invisible Girl,

and Ben Grimm into a mighty muscled

powerhouse called The Thing.

Now, together with Herbie the Robot, the

newest member of the group,They have

become the greatest team of superheroes

the world has ever known.

The new Fantastic Four.

Latveria, land of mystery and

menace. Within the grim gray walls of the

Castle Royal dwells the most dangerous

man in all the world, the merciless

Dr. Doom. Now, as our

incredible tale begins, the Lord of

Latveria issues a royal command.

Prepare to launch my rocket. Doctor

Doom commands. Prepare the royal

rocket. With slow, measured tread, the

mighty armored figure lumbers through the

courtyard, master of all he surveys,

until... All is ready, Highness.

Then stand aside. Let the

countdown begin.

Meanwhile, in the heart of New York,The

world's most famous superhero team spends

a quiet afternoon in their skyscraper

headquarters. Are my experiments

disturbing you, Sue?No, Reed. I've

managed to master my invisible force

field so that I can use it no matter what

else is happening at the same time. Well,

that tin-headed, rusty robot is

disturbing me with all that nutty running

around and beeping all over the joint.

Well, at least I'm working, which is more

than chirping, people can say. I'm

monitoring the whole planet Earth,

looking for any danger spots. Uh oh,

what's this?A rocket has just been

launched somewhere in Europe. It's

speeding over the Atlantic, heading this

way. Big deal. They're always launching

rockets nowadays, but no one gets uptight

about them. It's just our luck, ain't it,

to have the only nervous robot in the

business. And while the

mighty Muscle Thing and Herbie the Robot

continue their usual unending

arguments... In another few minutes, I'll

reach the United States, where I'll

finally defeat the unsuspecting

Fantastic Four.

Oh, Reed, look! Up there in the

sky. It's the most beautiful sh**ting

star. Oh, isn't it

romantic?I hate to spoil your mood,

honey. But I don't think it was really a

star. What do you mean, dear?I studied

its trajectory. Whatever it was, it was a

man-made object, like a rocket. Hey,

Stretcho, anyone ever tell you you're as

bad as Herbie?You're always imagining

things. If you ever saw Santa Claus

flying around up there, you try to

convince us it's an invasion from Mars.

I've been tracking that rocket. It is

landing somewhere near here. My sensors

warn me of danger.

And even as Herbie ponders the mystery...

I've landed unseen, just as I planned.

There is the city wherein my enemies

dwell. But the lord of Latvilia shall not

walk to his destination like some humble

commoner. I shall don my jet-powered

flying harness.

And now... Let the Fantastic Four

beware! Moments

later, behind the heavily guarded walls

of the Latverian Embassy building... Who

dares knock at the door of our private

entrance?Go away! None may enter here,

by royal command of Dr. Doom!

Who?Send you aside. I am Dr.

Doom, your sovereign supreme. Forgive me,

Highness. I-I-I did not know.

Hail, Dr. Doom!Hail the

Lord of Latviria! Silence!

Return to your tasks. I am not to be

disturbed. Bring me the royal projectile

ray. Highness, your wish is our command.

Now I shall contact the accursed

Fantastic Four in a manner that will

bring terror to their hearts, for they

must be made to realize that they are

helpless before the power of

Doctor Doom. All is

ready, Highness. Then leave me.

No man may witness what I am

about to do.

Whee! Look! Yeah, some kind of

naughty light coming right through the

wall. Hey, did some wise guy steal my

little Spider-Man flashlight?

Silence, you fools. This

is no mere childish prank. It's

Doctor Doom. Careful, all of you. You

know how dangerous he can be. Even more

dangerous than you suspect. Each

time we've met and battled in the past,

you've managed to escape me. Hey, tell us

something we don't know. This time, I

have planned your total defeat.

This time, Doctor Doom will

be the victor. And with you

destroyed, your entire nation will be

helpless before me. If you can fight as

good as you can talk, we don't give up

right now. Once I have crushed you,

I'll turn that robot into a whistling

teapot. Oh, boy. You did it,

Doob. You did it this time. You can say

what you wanna about me, but when you

start picking on my little tin-headed

bunny boy, it's cooperative time.

Hey, what gives?I heard a guy's losing

weight. Why, this is ridiculous. We

should have guessed, Ben. He wouldn't

dare come alone. It's just some sort of

image he's projected. So, I wouldn't

dare, would I?Well, my helpless

friends, you soon shall see what Dr. Doom

will dare. I wonder who writes that

cornball dialogue, Count Dracula?I

just realized something. Herbie was

right. That must have been Doom's rocket

he was tracking. What do we do now?

Well, there's one thing we won't do.

We're not going to wait for him to attack

first. Now you're talking, stretcho. But

what can we do?We don't know where he is.

Then we've got to find him. Sue hit it

right on the head. Let's go. Yahoo!

We don't know where we're going, but

we're on our way. Wait for me! Wait for

me! It's not polite to forget your

fateful robot. [Music]

Look. It's the Fantastic Four.

We'll all separate. Each go in a

different direction. We'll be able to

cover more ground this way. Now move.

Careful, it's loaded. It's perfect. Just

what I wanted. Gunmen! They might have

been hired by Doom to help him fight us.

I'll take that. Stand where you are.

Don't make a false move. It's Sue Storm,

the Invisible Girl. All right, talk.

Where's Dr. Doom?What's he up to?Lady,

how would we know? We're just a couple of

innocent businessmen. Well, what about

the g*n?Just pull the trigger and you'll

see. It's just a toy!

He was selling it to me for my toy

company. Well, perhaps I was a little

overeager.

My electronic sensors are catching

strange, mysterious sounds. There might

be some sort of secret code. I'll bet

it's Dr. Doom signaling his hidden agent.

The Fantastic Four signal. It's Herbie.

He must've found something. Hurry! I

found some secret signals. Billy Nash,

go! Shimmy and the Jesse's... 40 on the

radio dial. KKO, 9795. Now stay tuned and

be right back at this word from Billy

Jesse! Secret signals?Herbie...

It's just the finals of the World's

Fastest Talking Disc Jockey contest. If

robots could blush, my face would be

red. Look,

we're all too tense and uptight. We're

running around like amateurs, following

up every type of false clue. You're

right, Reed. It's probably just what Dr.

Doom wanted us to do. Now we've got to

calm down. Relax. Let's take in a movie.

Take in a movie?Well, we ain't got room.

Well, we put it.

That's a joke, son. It's a good thing you

told us. Uh, forget it.

I'm going bowling. Hey, I just

remembered I'm due at the science

convention in an hour. Well, that lets

out the movie. I might as well get my

hair done. Uh-oh.

We forgot something. What's that, Reed?We

forgot to change our clothes. All our

fans recognize us. Maybe we can

duck out the side exit. Right this

way, folks. You can leave through the

service elevator. Good idea. Oh,

it's tough being a celebrity, ain't it?

Everybody wants my autograph. Well, they

just want to make sure you can write.

You're the famous Fantastic Four, aren't

you?Yeah, the idols of millions.

I'm one of your biggest fans. It

figures. Would you allow me to shake your

hands?I certainly. Always glad to

oblige your fans.

I've always admired the lovely Sue

Storm. Thank you. And the brave and

powerful Ben Grimm. Hey, you're

a great judge of character, you know that?

I've never understood why humans squeeze

each other's fingers, but I'm happy to

oblige. And now you can leave by the

private service exit. Wasn't he a nice

man?I wonder how much money I could

make if I sold my autographs,

huhYou couldn't pay me to take one.

The stage is set. Now let the drama

begin. Enter, Your

Highness.

So far, my plan is working perfectly, and

the Fantastic Four do not suspect a

thing. Now to release my

little Doom Balloons. One for each of

my enemies. They'll be

attracted by the hidden discs I planted

on their wrists. My Doom Balloons will

follow them, and none can guess the

reason why. Hey,

what's up there?It's a naughty air

balloon floating right above me.

No wonder I've been missing some shots.

It's spoiling my concentration.

This is a very upsetting experience.

First time I've ever been clobbered by a

crummy balloon. I don't

understand. How did that silly balloon

get in here? And why does it float up

there, staring at me that way?Even

though robots have no nerves, it's making

me a nervous wreck.

me of danger. But how can a balloon hurt

me?Ohh

What is it?Wait,

don't be afraid. It won't hurt you. It's

following me. I'll turn invisible to get

away from it.

How can I keep following me when it can't

see me?And now

I present our guest of honor, the famous

leader of the Fantastic Four, Reed

Richards, better known as Mr.

Fantastic. I take great pleasure

in awarding you our Scientific Prize

of the Year. Wait, what's that? The

balloon must belong to Richards. Look how

it's floating above his head. It's

disgraceful, shameful. He's turning it

into a circus. Richards is laughing at

us. Don't give him the award! I've got

to get the balloon. But I

can't. It's too slippery.

What an awful day. I prefer not to

think about it. It's humiliating.

Nobody gives us no respect.

Here's Reed. Hello, everybody. Well, let

me tell you what happened. There was this

crazy balloon. Save your breath, mister.

It happened to us, too. Reed, do you

think Dr. Doom could be behind it?

I almost feel sorry for the

Fantastic Four. What chance do they

have against my own power and skill?

They can't begin to imagine the real

purpose of my amazing Doom balloons.

And when they finally learn my secret, it

will be too late to save them.

Look! It's him again!

I have come to offer you a chance to save

yourselves. Surrender to me now, and I

will spare your lives. You gotta be

kiddin', Longhead! This is the Fantastic

Four you're talkin' to!We don't

surrender to nobody. The

Fantastic Four, indeed. You

cannot fight me. You cannot even

find me. But since you will not accept my

offer to surrender, I have no choice

but to destroy you completely,

just as I shall destroy your nation.

Doom's conceit will be his downfall. Now,

while he brags, we've got to think. Our

first job is to discover the secret of

his doom balloons. My electronic scanner

will tell us how they managed to home in

on us. It's working.

Those beeps indicate something which

attracted the balloons. It's on our

hands. Stretcher's right! I found it!

He managed to plant a metal disc on each

of our hands. He must have been the

bearded elevator man. His evil, twisted

brain is capable of anything. We must all

be on our guard. For our sake and the

sake of mankind.

Later, at an important meeting of the

Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, D.C.

Look! What is that?A caped figure

appearing from out of nowhere!

It's the demoniacal Dr. Doom! I'll get

right to the point, gentlemen. I want

total command of your nation's armed

forces. If you refuse, I will

destroy your country. You are mad!

We will never bow to threats! I

expected that answer from you.

Now you will have only yourselves to

blame for what happens next.

Then, exactly 24 hours later,

all the electric power throughout the

United States goes completely

dead. The lights! What happened to the

lights?The TV stopped working. So

did the radio. I can't fix your vacuum,

lady. There's no electricity. The

whole Air Force is grounded. Nothing will

fly. It's freezing in here.

Nobody can get any heat. Giant ships must

lie at anchor, helpless without their

radar and their sonar. People are thrown

out of work as factories shut down from

coast to coast. The whole nation comes to

a halt, as even the cars cannot run.

Yes, I'm sure it's the work of Doctor

Doom. Ah, come on, Stretcho. How can

Doom put the whole blamed country out of

action?You know, he's a scientific

genius, Ben. He must have invented some

sort of electronic nullifier which

destroys electricity. The only way to

stop him is to find him and defeat him.

Somehow. Herbie, your

scanners are the only thing that can help

us now. It's up to you to find Dr.

Doom. We've been working for hours,

Herbie. How are you doing? My circuits are

all activated. As soon as your sky probe

is ready. Okay then, little friend.

Now direct your scanners at my machine.

We've got to discover anything different,

anything unusual, somewhere in the sky.

That's it. That cloud just above us. It

doesn't belong there. My scanners tell me

that it's artificial. It isn't real. I'll

set the machine to X-ray probe intensity.

Look! Inside the cloud. A satellite-type

ship. It can only belong to... Doctor

Doom. We found the answer. Doom's main

base is orbiting above us. Well, then

what are we waiting for?All we gotta do

is get up there and clobber to Bum. It

won't be that easy, old friend. We can't

do it because of the balloons. What do

they have to do with it, Reed?I figured

out their purpose. While they hovered

above us, they were recording our

heartbeats, our molecular structure. They

could identify us anywhere. They allowed

Doom to set up traps like super burglar

alarms to warn him if we approach his

ship. And we can't fool them because we

can't change our heartbeats or the

molecules in our bodies. Wait. None of us

can. Remember, I'm just a robot. My parts

are interchangeable. Herbie's right. All

we need to do is substitute his circuits.

Hold still, Herbie, so I can finish it

quickly. I can't help it,

Reed. You're tickling me. OK,

Herbie. You're the only one who can reach

the ship without setting off the alarm.

It's up to you. At last, my chance to

be a hero. I

made it. Now to disconnect the alarm

system. Kirby

scuttle Doom's alarms. Let's go.

Quick, follow me. Doom's cabin is just

ahead. The

Fantastic Four were more clever than I

thought. They've managed to enter my

ship. But it won't be as easy for them to

leave it alive. Look out!

Ben, grab hold of something. I've got to

save Sue. Keep hovering with your jets,

Herbie. Hang in

there, Ben. We'll make it. Grab

hold, Ben. You too, Herbie. We made it.

Just like in the movies.

So, they escaped another trap, did they?

They're only prolonging their inevitable

defeat. My weapons are

all-powerful. My traps are limitless.

Now we'll see how they do without

gravity to help them. Hey, hey, what's

happening?I can't stand up.

Everything's floating around. It's Doom

again. He's affected the gravity within

our compartment. We can't keep floating

helplessly like this. I'll aim my

invisible force field through the wall

where his control panel ought to be.

Uh, my controls. They're gone.

So, you think you've outwitted me, do

you?Fools! I've just begun to

fight. I have weapons you've never heard

of. Weapons you've never seen before.

Wait. Anyone can fight with normal

weapons. But I challenge you to a greater

battle. The greatest battle of all. What

do you mean?I challenge you to a battle

of wits. A battle where the smartest one

will win, and the other one loses.

Forever. I accept. Once and for

all I'll prove I'm your master in every

way. Here I read

is your brain machine. Put it carefully

on the table, Ben. Now this machine will

measure our intelligence. We'll battle

with our brains, and the smartest one

will be the winner. Take a last look in

the mirror, Doom. When the battle has

ended, only the victor's face will

remain. Let the battle begin.

It's over. Reed Richards has vanished.

Only the face of Dr. Doom remains.

I've beaten him at last.

You are all free to leave. At the moment

of my greatest triumph, I can now

afford to be generous. I have

defeated my greatest enemy at last.

By proving my intelligence is far

greater than his, no one

can stop me now. With

the defeat of Reed Richards,I no longer

care about taking over the American Armed

Forces. Now that I am

supreme, I can return home as a

conquering hero. But first,

for my loyal subjects at the Liberian

Embassy.

All hail His Imperial Majesty!

Dr. Doom, Lord of Latveria,

my mission here is ended. I

decorate you all to celebrate my

victory. And now, I

return in glory to my beloved

kingdom. Your sovereign

bids you farewell.

Reed, there's something we don't

understand. Yes, I expected you to say

that. He thinks I lost. He thinks he beat

me. You see, my so-called brain machine

was really a device to make him believe I

was defeated. So the only way to be rid

of him forever was to trick him into

thinking he was the victor.

You know, I think I'm gonna miss that big

talkin' ham bone. Well, I'd rather miss

him than have him come back again. I'll

say amen to that, Herbie. Meanwhile,

we've saved the country and gotten rid of

our most dangerous enemy. Yeah, Yeah

yeah, but what me and Herbie want to know

is... What do we do for an

encore?Huh
