FLASH: Blasting off
on a desperate mission

to save Earth from the evilplottings of a tyrannical space

Lord, Ming the Merciless, Dr.Hans Zarkov and Dale Arden

have joined me, Flash
Gordon, on a fantastic

journey into worlds whereperil and adventure await us.

NARRATOR: Fleeing m1ngo City intheir rocket ship, Flash, Dale,

and Zarkov land on themysterious lost continent

of Tropica and become
captives of Queen

Desira, who herself becomes theprisoner of the evil Braznor.

Escaping on stolen griffs, theyfall into [inaudible] world

and find themselves swepttoward a mysterious destination.

And now, Chapter 14,
and "Desert Hawk."

You will be happy here, Aura.

I know that, Barin.

My place is here at
your side forever.

As much as I dearly
hate your father

Ming for what he has done toour planet, I love you, Aura.

And I love you, my prince.

[throat clearing]

A thousand pardons for thisinappropriate interruption,

Barin.

We've got trouble.

Flash?

They have not yet returned.

Something's happened.

My father captured them?

No.

They are not in
Ming's evil hands.

My spies in m1ngo
City would know that.

There have been no
reports of a rocket

crashing anywhere along theroad from m1ngo City to Arboria.

Then, where are they?

That, my princess,
is the question

we must answer and soon, for myhawk sense tells me that Flash

Gordon is in grave danger.

What's happening to us?

We have no weight.

This is some amazing sortof suspended gravity.

Are you hurt?

No.

But I'm all mixed up.

We're stuck to the roof.

What if we fell down?

What's your scientific
explanation, Doc?

There's not possible
magnetism that can

hold the human body like this.

Except a change of gravity.

You mean the
gravitational pull

is reversed in this cavern?

Exactly, Dale.

As long as we're where
we are, we can't fall.

But we can't
stay here forever.

Follow me and be careful.

The reverse gravitationalpull may end at any time.

I can hardly walk.

The gravity pull
is getting stronger.

It must be caused by some hugemeteorite of super density

that is lodged in theground above the cave roof.

You wait here.

I'll go on ahead and
see what happens.

The gravity pull
is getting weaker.

That means he's past
the center of the field.

Maybe I can use
the extra gravity

pull to slow this thing down.

Hurry, before that thingreturns and brings his friends.

The Interesting place.

Some day, we must go back.

You can satisfy your
scientific curiosity

another day, Zarkov.

Right now, I think
we've found our way out.

We are approaching
one of our outposts.

We will be safe there.

Perhaps, but
Braznor's no fool.

He's planned on usurpingyour throne for some time,

and must have turncoats plantedwithin the royal council.

I find it hard to believe
any of my trusted aides

would betray me.

Still, we need
to be on our guard.

Who are you?

I am Queen Desira.

You will send for a jungle carto return me to the palace.

Uh, yes, my queen, at once.

You see?

This evening we will
dine in splendor,

and that traitor Braznor willfeed on dungeon leftovers.

Perhaps.

It is someone claiming tobe the queen, my Lord Braznor.

You did well in contacting me.

Queen Desira met with
an unfortunate accident.

This woman is an imposter.

Arrest her.

Braznor has seized
your throne, Desira.

He's proclaimed you dead, and Ifear that most of your subjects

will believe him, just
as this guard did.

I'll see that lying traitorin chains before this is over.

Maybe so, but at themoment, Braznor and his men

are on their way here.

We'll be at the outpost ina few minutes, Lord Braznor.

Top speed, corporal.

This time, they
will not escape me.

This is the Desert of Fire.

We cannot cross it, Flash.

I'm afraid we have
no choice, Desira.

Braznor has picked up ourscent faster than I expected.

That desert is our
only avenue of escape.

Doc, you and the
ladies go ahead.

What about you?

I have a plan
to delay Braznor.

What?

Blast our way through.

I'll deliver Flash Gordonto the Emperor Ming

on a platter for this.

We've come an hour.

We'll stop and wait
for Flash to join us.

But this is such ahorrible, broken country.

How will he ever find us?

Zarkov promised to wait
after an hour's ride,

but there's no sign of them.

The smoke from that volcanocode, dot dot dash dot.

It's Morse Code for
F. Good old Doc.

Trust Zarkov to use his head.

Dr. Zarkov, it worked.

Flash has found us.

Miss me?

Of course not.

The heat.

Will we ever be out of
this terrible place?

I hope so, Darling.

At least, Braznor can'tfollow us in his armored car.

I've never seen
a place like this.

The Desert of Fire is astrange place, Dr. Zarkov.

Only the desert riders
are at home here.

You mean, there are peoplewho actually live in this land?

A savage folk, but loyalto the throne of Tropica.

They will join us indefeating Braznor's evil plot.

Thunder dragon.

Doc, get away.

We've got to jump.

It's nearly 20 feet across.

Mungo's gravity is
less than Earth's.

You can do it.

What are we standing here for?

See you on the other side.

By my beard, two jewelsworthy of Ming's own crown.

My desert never fails me.

Watch your tongue, desert man.

I am Desira, rightful
queen of Tropica.

Gently, Desira, thisfellow has just rescued us.

At least he deserves our thanks.

Permit me to introduce myself.

Gundar, hawk of the desert,
defender of the weak,

lord of the fire lands,
and your humble servant.

I am Flash Gordon
from the planet Earth.

Ah, you are the
famous outlaw who Ming

the Merciless values so highly.

It is a pleasure since I bearour noble emperor very little

good will, but
later, we will talk.

Now, you will join me
in my humble quarters.

I have an importantmessage for our Lord Braznor.

Patch me through at once.

Welcome to Gundar City.

You did well for a bandit.

I do the best I can.

You think Gundar will help us?

He'd be a fool to try tofight Braznor's armored cars.

So you think he'll
give us over to Braznor?

That would be
the logical course,

but I have a feeling that Gundardoes not live by logic alone.

It hasn't not
taken Braznor long

to bring is army to my gates.

Then decide quickly, Gundar.

Do you stand with your queen orsubmit meekly to that traitor?

A difficult decision.

No man who lives in thesedeserts can be a coward.

I have been called
many things as man,

coward is not one
of them, but Braznor

has an army of armored cars.

I have no such weapons
at my disposal.

Then, you will turn
us over to the fiend?

To do so would
be the wise course,

but Gundar is not always wise.

Come, Flash Gordon, we havea battle to prepare for.

Our one chance is
to capture Braznor

and force his men to surrender.

I only hope the mountaingate into the city

holds against the
armored car lasers.

Double the power
to the lasers.

I want that gate open.

It won't last much longer.

Come with me.

Where to?

To the communications room.

Our situation is
hopeless without help.

Perhaps Desira can call
upon others to join her

in the battle against Braznor.

We can't stop those armoredcars, but we can derail them.

You'd make a greatdesert rider, Flash Gordon.

FLASH: Braznor's broken through.

I've got to get back to Dale.

What do you think, Doc?

I don't know.

Braznor's done a good jobof jamming the channels.

No messages, please, Desira.

You will not takeTropica by force, Braznor.

But, my lady, that isexactly what I have just done.

Not quite.

This will put the men insideto sleep for a few hours.

Ah, the man of science
is also a man of action.

Earthmen never fail to amaze mewith their unsuspected talents.

Now, you will surrender.

The game is not
yet up, my lady.

You may have me, but withinminutes, my armored cars

will have your
city, and the desert

folk will be at my mercy.

He may be right.

Face it, Earthman,
you have lost.

You've won this round.

There will not
be another round.

The contest is decided.

My Lord, come quickly.

Strangers from the sky.

It's Vultan.

In the name of
rebellion, attack.

With a little help
from our friends,

we'll win this day yet.

Can't stay out oftrouble, can you, Earthman?

We were doing fine, but
thanks for the assist.

You haven't introduced meto this lovely new friend

of yours.

Careful, Barin, the
princesses Aura has

a jealous streak a mile wide.

I am Vultan, king of the
hawkmen at your service.

And this is Barin,
prince of Arboria.

Thun, king of The Lionmen.

United in our rebellion
against the tyrant Ming.

Now, that my own kingdomof Tropic is restored to me,

count on my help in that battle.

And mine.

My desert men are in yourservice, Flash Gordon.

For too long, we've
been at the mercy

of Ming and his soldiers.

Now is the hour when
we must bring the fight

to the emperor's doorstep.

No more do we run.

Now, we are united,
all of Mungo,

and together we will end histyrannical grip on this planet.

Beware, Ming, the free
men and women of Mungo

are coming for you.
