(Whirring)

(Bell ringing)

(Laughing)

(Eagle screaming)

Yahoo!

Whee!

(Whirring)

(Birds chirping)

(Roaring)

I’m the new champion sent

to--

(Roaring)

WOMANThis one has fared

no better than the others.

MANWe must find a new

champion and quickly.

But where?

WOMANOur scouts have spoken

of a nearby land where the

inhabitants will soon gather to

choose a true champion.

It is called Nutwood.

(Birds chirping)

MANStep right up and try

your hand at games of strength

and skill.

Here’s your chance to prove to

friends and family that you’re a

hero.

A he-man.

A true champion.

All it takes is a keen eye

and a steady hand.

Test your strength!

Prove that you’re a real hero!

A game of courage and daring.

Weaklings need not apply.

MANThree chances to go home

a winner.

(Voices overlapping)

There’s nothing like a

carnival to make a person feel

young again.

(Giggling)

What’ll it be first, dear?

Popcorn or candy apples?

(Laughing)

What are we waiting for?

Can’t you hear them calling me?

I haven’t heard anyone

mention you, Algy.

You must be hearing things.

Rupert, Bill, strength,

skill, courage and daring are my

middle names.

Don’t tell me you've forgotten.

We’d like to forget.

You two can tag along and

observe my technique.

Maybe if you’re lucky, some of

my natural skill will rub off on

you.

Put a sock in it, will you,

Algy?

(Chuckling)

Tell Algy not to get his

hopes up too high, son.

These games can be harder than

they look.

Did they have carnivals way

back in your day, Dad?

They certainly did, Rupert.

And let me tell you, I used to

spend my entire allowance

testing my strength and skill.

I was trying to impress my

girlfriend.

Really?

Were you the champion of the

midway?

No!

But I was still impressed by his

persistence.

(Laughing heartily)

BILLRupert!

You run along, Rupert.

We’ll see you later.

Okay, bye.

As I recall, I was quite a

champion on the midway.

Now, dear.

You’re starting to sound like

Algy.

BILLDrat!

Drat and drat.

Nice try, Bill.

This is so easy my

grandmother could do it

blindfolded with both arms tied

behind her back.

If you think it’s so easy,

why don’t you try it, Algy?

No, thanks, Rupert.

I’m conserving my energies for a

more skill-testing game.

My vast talent would only be

wasted by--

BOTHWill you just throw?!

Oh, all right.

(Drumming)

(Rattling)

MANWe’ve got ourselves a

winner!

What an amazing shot by me,

the Amazing Algy.

Thank you.

Thank you.

"The Amazing Algy?"

Oh, brother.

It was just a lucky shot.

Admit it.

Lucky?

Ha!

It was a combination of amazing

skill and...

even more amazing skill.

Beneath this pug-like exterior

lie the keen eyes of an eagle

and muscles of hardened steel.

Sickening, isn’t it?

One lucky shot and he thinks

he’s--

ALGYThe Amazing Algy.

Champion of champions.

There’s got to be a way to

stop his bragging.

I was just thinking, Bill.

What if Algy won a couple of

more games?

His head would swell up so

much, he’d have to put butter on

his ears to get through the

doorway.

Right.

If we give him a little help on

the next couple of games; then

he’ll think he's the greatest

champion in the world.

What?

But that will only make his

bragging worse.

Only for a little while, but

then we’ll stop helping him.

And he’ll fail miserably.

Then the Amazing Algy won’t be

so Amazing anymore.

Exactly.

Here’s what we'll do.

Oh, dang nab, doll-garn, back

stabbin’, thirstle-bixed--

those bottles must be glued or

nailed together or something.

Everyone’s a winner!

WOMANStrange.

He spoke as though he were a

true champion.

MANBut he certainly didn’t

perform like one.

Now watch closely, Bill and

the Amazing Algy will show you

how a true champion does it.

It’s important to limber up

properly.

When you have muscles of steel

like these, it’s like being in

control of a finely tuned race

car.

Sure, sure, Amazing.

Do you plan on throwing the ball

sometime this week?

Uh-oh.

He goes into his wind up.

Will you just throw?

(Rattling)

Wow!

And I haven’t even been

exercising.

The Amazing Algy is even more

amazing than I ever imagined.

It looks as if your plan is

working, Rupert.

Amazingly well!

(Both laughing)

Go ahead, feel that muscle.

RUPERTHard as steel.

Really?

MANStep right up!

Who’s next to test their

strength?

Me, the Amazing Algy.

(Both laughing)

(Grunting)

(Bell ringing)

(Crowd gasping)

You’re stronger than you

look, son.

I know.

I’m amazingly strong.

Just feel that muscle.

He’s so full of hot air now.

We could tie a basket to him and

go for a ride.

(Chuckling)

But now we’ll start to

deflate him.

I still think they’re lovely,

dear.

Who needs half a dozen key

chains?

(Giggling)

Never mind, dear.

You’ll always be my champion.

WOMANHmm, it looks as if we

may have overestimated this one.

(Roaring)

Look!

The Missing Lynx!

The fiercest, fastest, toughest

wrestler that ever pulled on a

pair of leotards.

There must be someone out there

who’s strong and brave enough

to challenge the Lynx!

(Roaring)

Who’ll be the first to prove

he’s a true champion?

There must be a champion out

there somewhere.

Did someone call me?

One champion coming right up.

(Roaring)

BILLAlgy’s not just going

to get deflated, he’s going to

get squashed.

Uh!

Is that what you had in mind,

Rupert?

No, this wasn’t part of the

plan at all.

Algy, don’t do it!

Ah, don’t worry, Rupert.

I’ll take it easy on him.

BILLThe Missing Lynx will

pulverize you.

Ah, he’s no match for the

Amazing Algy.

But that’s just it, Algy.

You’re not really amazing.

You see--

Oh, I get it.

You’re just jealous because I'm

so much better than you.

(Bell ringing)

Hey, Missing Lunkhead!

I’ll give you one last chance to

back out.

(Growling and snarling)

Well, it’s just possible that

this will finally put a stop to

Algy’s bragging.

I’m afraid it will put a stop

to his breathing!

(Roaring)

(Screaming)

You obviously don’t know who

you’re dealing with.

I’m the-- wah!

(Bell ringing)

Saved by the bell.

(Bell ringing)

Round two.

Whoa!

(Snorting)

(Roaring)

(Snorting)

(Slurping)

Well, it looks as if we have

a new champion.

(Cheering)

Thank you, thank you.

Please, no shoving.

There will be plenty of time for

autographs.

That’s him!

That’s the one.

A true champion.

We must get him.

(Man laughing)

Uh, you don’t scare me.

Nothing scares me.

For I am the Amazing Algy.

I think we’ve created a

monster.

He’s starting to give me a

headache.

Let’s go down this way.

I’m so fearless it almost

scares me.

(Gasping)

Whoa, it’s just me.

No wonder I was scared.

I could scare anyone.

(Gasping)

You are the great champion

that we seek.

What?

Me?

Champion?

You must have me mistaken for

someone else.

Rupert perhaps, or Bill.

Oh, Rupert?!

Bill?

(Gasping)

Oh, you mean the champion.

You mean the Amazing Algy,

champion of the world.

Yes, that’s the one.

That’s me, all right.

What can I do for you?

Autograph?

Seize him!

(Grunting)

Hey, cut that out!

Rupert, help!

Rupert!

It’s Algy.

ALGYHelp!

Rupert!

(Both screaming)

BOTHWhoa!

Whoa!

Oh!

ALGYHelp!

There he is.

Hey, stop!

(Grunting)

ALGYRupert!

Help!

Help!

(Both grunting)

BOTHAlgy!

Algy!

Algy!

Algy!

(Crowd cheering "Algy")

This is really weird.

It almost sounds as if...

you like me.

Like you?

Algy, we love you.

(Cheering)

Algy, I’d like to present his

honour Mayor Bellow.

My pleasure entirely, Algy.

Why, we’ve had our eye on you

from the start.

Your exhibition of strength and

skill was simply--

Amazing?

Yes.

We’ve never seen a champion with

your amazing skills and strength

and courage.

Well, it is a hard

combination to find.

Algy, I wanna be frank with

you.

We’re a small, meek, defenceless

people.

Well, we’re not people exactly,

but that’s beside the point.

The point is that every year at

this time we are visited by a

very annoying brute called

The Mulp Gulper.

Mulp Gulper?

Yes, a very big--

Bully!

Not unlike that Missing Lynx

fellow you so easily defeated.

Yeah, I did mop the floor

with him, didn’t I?

Like a true champion.

What do you say?

Will you help us by fighting

The Mulp Gulper?

You’ll be a hero.

A hero?

Me?

BOTHYes, you.

Never fear the Amazing Algy

is here.

(All chanting "Algy")

How are we doing for time?

The Mulp Gulper should be

getting hungry again just

about...

(Bell ringing)

(Roaring)

(Chanting "Algy"

in the distance)

Listen!

This way.

I can’t see him, but the

strange thing is I think I can

hear him bragging.

Finally, I’d just like to say

that I couldn’t have made a

better choice if I had picked me

myself.

(Cheering)

They love me.

Oh, yes.

We all love you very much, Algy.

Thanks for the suit.

I hope you didn’t go to any

trouble.

No trouble at all.

We got it from the last

champion.

What was left of him.

(Roaring)

(All chanting "Algy")

Algy!

Hey, what are you two doing

here?

Never mind that.

What are you doing?

Oh, I got to fight this

Mulp Gulper guy.

The big bully’s been bothering

my little pals here.

They needed a champion.

I happen to be a champion.

You know how it is.

You can’t fight anyone.

You’ll get clobbered.

You two are so jealous.

Algy, you’re not a champion.

Of course I am.

I’ve got muscles of steel.

I knocked down that tent.

That was me!

I pulled it down as, uh...

kind of a joke.

You did?

Well, I rang the bell.

I’m stronger than I look.

No, you’re not.

I fixed that so even my baby

brother could’ve rung the bell.

Did you fix the wrestling

match, too?

BOTHNo.

Ha!

I knew it!

I am a champion.

You slipped on Podgy’s ice

cream.

Didn’t you notice?

Well, no.

I was sort of running for my

life with my eyes closed.

I’m sorry, Algy.

You were bragging so much we

decided to teach you a lesson.

You mean I’m not a champion?

You mean--

Well, good luck, Algy.

Goodbye.

Goodbye?

(Mulp Gulper roaring)

(All screaming)

(Roaring)

What was that?

It’s the Mulp Gulper!

(Door slamming)

What exactly is a

Mulp Gulper?

Someone who gulps Mulps.

What’s a Mulp?

ALLWe’re Mulps!

(Banging)

(Roaring)

(Footsteps approaching)

So which one of you thinks

he’s a champion?

ALLHe does.

They sent three so-called

champions this time.

Ooh!

Ganging up on me.

I’m so scared.

(Laughing)

Just kidding.

Could you tell?

Boo!

(All screaming)

(Laughing)

A dozen of you puny champions

would be no match for me.

ALLWhoa!

(Yawning)

Oh, I get so bored with the

same old routine.

Why can’t they just once send a

true champion who could give me

at least a bit of a challenge?

Well, we hate to bore you.

Perhaps it would be best if we

were just getting on our way

then.

I was wrong.

ALLWhoa!

You three will be a

challenge.

We will?

Yes.

It will be a challenge to decide

which of you to eat first.

(Giggling)

You see, not only am I

invincible, I’m incredibly witty

as well.

And we thought Algy was a

braggart.

This Mulp Gulper is like Algy

times .

That’s right, Bill.

Maybe we should teach him a

lesson.

What?

No!

This must be your lucky day.

You get to go first.

(Laughing)

RUPERTOh, sure, go ahead

and eat him.

What?!

And you can have me for

seconds if you want to.

Bill and I are no competition

for you.

That would go without saying

except I’ve already said it.

No one is a match for me!

Ha!

You won’t last seconds in the

ring with the Amazing Algy!

What?!

You don’t look very amazing.

Well, I’m not really.

The Amazing Algy has muscles

of steel.

No, I don’t.

He’s stronger than he looks.

A true champion.

A true champion you say?

(Chuckling)

No, I’m not.

What are you doing?

Don’t worry, Algy.

Bill and I got you into this and

we’re going to get you out.

Just do the same thing you did

with the Missing Lynx.

You mean close my eyes and

run for my life?

Exactly.

I can do that.

Just leave the rest to us.

What do you mean "us?"

All right, Mr. Champion.

You’ll be the first course.

And you two are dessert.

(Roaring)

(Screaming)

You’re just making me work up my

appetite.

(Giggling)

What’s your plan?

Do you remember how Algy won

that wrestling match?

Oh, right.

All we have to do is find a

giant ice cream cone.

I don’t mean exactly.

We’ll have to improvise.

And to think all this time I

believed your plans were

carefully thought out.

Let’s go!

Leave me alone you big Gulp

head!

(Roaring)

Yahhh!

Ah!

Ha, take that you big drip!

Algy, this way.

(Coughing)

(Roaring)

Whoa!

Pull!

BOTHWhoa!

Yeow!

Whoa!

Ya-ya!

Oooh!

I’ve changed my mind.

You two aren’t going to be

dessert.

You’re going to be the

appetizers!

Next time I’ll make the plan.

(Giggling)

Hey, Gulp head!

Why don’t you pick on someone

your own size, you big bag of

hot air?

(Roaring)

(Chuckling)

(Rattling)

(Giggling)

Nice throw.

Ah!

My nose!

Ow-ow-ow-ah-ah!

It hurts!

It hurts!

Ouch!

Aw!

Is it swollen?

Well, yes.

Is it bleeding?

A little bit.

Oh, I knew it.

It’s broken.

Oh, I don’t think so.

Now we’re in for it.

You-- you hit me.

What did you do that for?

You were going to have us for

lunch.

So?

Is that a reason to hit me?

ALLYes!

(Sobbing)

And don’t come back

or you’ll have to deal with the

Amazing Algy!

Champions of champions.

(Cheering)

(Applauding)

You did it!

Way to go, Algy.

It was just a lucky shot.

Don’t be so modest, Algy.

It was truly--

BOTHAmazing.

(Rupert laughing)

ALGYIt was kind of amazing,

wasn’t it?
