Yahoo!

Whee!

(Chattering and laughing)

OTTOLINEI'm so excited, I can hardly stand it!

Just two more days, and it's...

ALLChristmas!

RUPERTI asked Santa for a remote-controlled airplane.

Me too!

I wished for a pair of skis.

I put skis on my first list.

You mean, you sent two?

Of course! I can't fit everything on just one list!

Of course. Ha, ha, ha!

What about you, Gregory?

Well, this year I asked Santa Claus

for something very special.

Really? What?

It's a secret.

Aw, come on, Gregory. I might want to add it to my third list.

No, this is something everyone but me already has.

Stop pestering Gregory, Podgy!

Let's have a race to the bottom.

Ready... set... go!

Whee! Yahoo!

You didn't say no shortcuts!

Not fair!

Ha, ha, ha! Huh?

Ahh...!

Did I win?

(Giggling)

Not even close. But we'll give you high marks for style.

Where's Gregory?

I thought he was right behind us.

I hope he wasn't following me!

There he is!

Come on down, Gregory!

This hill is probably too steep for him. You know Gregory.

Gregory! Wait up!

Gregory, wait! We can go to a smaller hill.

No. I don't want to spoil everyone else's fun.

But don't worry about me, Rupert.

Things will be a lot different after Christmas.

Nothing will frighten me then! Just wait and see.

He just remembered something he had to do at home.

Like what? Hide under the bed?

Ha, ha, ha, ha!

Ahem.

So, Bill! You didn't tell me what you asked Santa for.

A new toboggan. This one has certainly seen better days.

That's because it's seen more

than it's share of boulders and trees.

Oh, well, it's still got two more days of runs left in it.

Let's go!

Yahoo!

Wait! How do you spell "toboggan"?

(Saying goodbyes)

Lucky for me it's downhill all the way h*-- Whoa!

Whoa there!

Ahh...!

The Little Cowboy!

Howdy, Rupert!

Whoo-whee! That was some mighty fancy riding there, partner!

Ha, ha, thanks!

I thought all of Santa's helpers would be working overtime.

What brings you to Nutwood?

You do!

I do?

Follow me!

(Engine roaring)

(Elves chattering)

RUPERTHello, Santa!

SANTAHo, h*, h*, h*!

Oh, thank you for coming on such short notice, Rupert!

Hello, Blitzen.

I have a bit of a dilemma that--

Mr. Claus! So there you are!

Something must be done about this! It happens every year!

Two lists! And both of them longer than I am!

Uh-oh. That sounds like someone I know.

Hmm. Ah, yes. Podgy Pig.

I say it's time the greedy little pig was taught a lesson!

(Sighing)

It does seem he needs to be reminded

that Christmas isn't just about getting presents.

A lump of coal under the tree

ought to get the message across loud and clear!

Please don't be too hard on Podgy, Santa.

He isn't greedy, really.

He just tends to get carried away when he's excited.

Especially at Christmas time.

h*, h*, h*! All right, Rupert.

I promise I'll give the Podgy problem some more thought.

Hmph! You're the boss,

but I still say a lump of coal would serve him right!

You're always ready to help your friends, Rupert.

Which is why I'm sure you'll want to help

little Gregory Guinea Pig.

"Dear, Santa. This year all I want for Christmas

is to be as brave as my pal, Rupert."

You see my problem, Rupert?

I can't put bravery in a box and leave it under Gregory's tree.

But what can I do?

Perhaps you can help Gregory discover the bravery

that is hidden within himself.

I'll try, Santa.

But Gregory keeps his bravery pretty well hidden!

h*, h*, h*, h*!

I know you'll think of something, Rupert!

Decorating the tree always gets me into the Christmas spirit!

Me too, Mum!

Oh! Ugh! Me too.

(Giggling)

How on Earth does this happen?

They were in perfect order when I put them away last year!

Some of these decorations are older than I am!

Some have been in the family for ages; they're heirlooms.

Oh, my!

(Muttering under breath)

We've been putting the decorations on the wrong tree!

(Laughing)

Ta-da!

RUPERTHooray!

MUMIt's beautiful!

Now it really does feel like Christmas is almost here.

MUMOh, my!

What is it? What's wrong?

The tree!

My word!

It's gone!

(Arguing and shouting)

One at at time! One at a time!

Rupert! You won't believe what's happened!

Someone's stolen every Christmas tree in Nutwood!

Where will Santa leave all my presents?

Ours is gone as well! I was just coming to report it!

You'd better get in line!

I'll have to come back later.

I'm going tobogganing with Gregory this morning.

Can I come too, Rupert?

Tobogganing will help keep my mind off things.

Not to mention work up a good appetite.

All right, Podgy But you have to follow my plan.

This hill looks like a lot of fun!

It's a little steep for my liking.

Really?

You go first. I'm not going down until I know it's safe.

Sure! I'm not scared!

(Gulping)

He's a madman! I'm not going down there!

Don't make me do it, Gregory! Please!

I'm too young to die!

Oh, I get it. You're just pretending.

Did I overdo it?

Everything's going to be different after Christmas!

Just wait and see.

Gregory, I have something to--

Hey! What's this?

A bit of tinsel!

And here's a Christmas tree decoration!

Here's another one! And it's from my tree!

But it's just a bit of string.

What kind of decoration is that?

It used to have popcorn on it.

Mmm!

What luck!

We've found the trail of the Christmas tree thieves!

Y-you c-call that luck?

Look!

Get them! Charge!

This way! We've got you!

There's no one here.

Whew! Now that is lucky!

My tree! My tree! Christmas is saved!

(Whispering)

Did you hear that?

What?

I thought I heard whispering.

Fire! Get them!

(Shouting)

Who are they, Rupert?

Rupert?

Oh, no! I've done it again!

Yow!

Come back with our trees!

(Blowing raspberry)

(Grunting)

Yaieee!

Yaieeee...

Lucky throw!

Who are you? Where are you taking our trees?

Your trees? Ha!

We're the Pine Sprites

and those trees are the property of our master, the Pine Ogre!

And if you don't want him to eat you for supper,

you'd better mind your own business!

We can't let them get away with this.

B-b-but didn't I hear something about

a Pine Ogre eating us for supper?

It's awfully dark down here, isn't it?

And kind of cold, and clammy, and spooky, and-- And--

I think we're here.

Wherever "here" is.

Look!

They're taking all the ornaments!

I'm sure Santa will leave presents under a tree,

whether it's decorated or not.

But Mum's had some of our ornaments since she way my age.

You're right, Rupert. They're like family treasures!

Come on!

We can carry them in these,

but how do we get at them without being seen?

What about this, Rupert?

Brilliant, Gregory!

Hey! Popcorn!

(Loud clattering noise)

It's them! Stop! Thieves!

Now you've done it!

Get them! Thieves!

Keep filling, Gregory! We'll hold them off!

(Shouting)

Hee, hee, hee! Take that, you spiky saplings!

Let's get out of here before we meet that nasty Pine Ogre!

Stop worrying, Gregory. We'll take care of him.

After all, how big can the leader of these little sprites--

Be?

Oh, as tall as a redwood?

(Roaring)

Heh-heh-heh. Give up?

You can't take our Christmas trees!

Silence! I am Lord of all the Pines!

I have brought them here to forest my valley!

Well then, at least give us back our decorations.

'Tis an abomination to cover trees in frivolous trinkets!

No, it isn't. There's something about seeing a Christmas tree,

all decorated and lit up--

Bah! Be gone from my valley and never return!

If I catch you here again, I shall not treat you so kindly!

(Blowing raspberry)

Nyah-- Ouch!

It's no wonder he's in such bad humour,

living in that gloomy valley.

What a spoil sport!

I'll bet he didn't even send a list to Santa.

Oh, he's going to ruin Christmas for everyone.

Not if we can help it. Come on! These will come in handy.

We're going back there?

Don't worry, Gregory. I've got a plan.

I was wondering when you were going to say that.

(Hammering)

(Decorations clattering)

All clear!

You hide here, Gregory.

Now that's something I'm good at.

That's the spirit! Let's go, Podgy.

Mmm, popcorn!

(Sneezing)

Pepper? Why would Mum put pepper on this popcorn string?

To stop you from eating all the decorations?

(Growling)

Run for it! Yah!

Yah!

Look out! Yah!

(Shouting)

(Shouting)

Podgy! Give me that string!

But I'm not finished!

(Whispering)

Shh. I thought I heard whispering.

Oh, no!

Get them!

Ambush!

Run, Gregory!

Save the decorations!

Whoa!

(Chattering)

Prisoners! Do you have anything to say

before I sentence you to a lifetime in my dungeons?

You bet I do!

I was wondering if you could mail this to Santa.

You know, to tell him where to forward my presents?

Take them to the dungeons!

GREGORYLet my friends go!

Why don't you pick on me, you big bully?

Are you scared?

I shall take care of this little pest myself.

(Roaring)

Whoa!

What's Gregory doing? He doesn't stand a chance!

Yah!

(Gasping)

(Growling)

M-Merry Christmas.

My trees! What have you done?

It was too hard to explain, so I thought I'd show you.

Would you like to give it a try?

(Chuckling)

Kind of makes you feel good inside, doesn't it?

Why, yes. Yes, it does!

(Gasping)

(Laughing)

Gregory! Not only are you brave, you're brilliant!

Thanks, Rupert.

Oh, sure! This is all fine for you,

but our Christmas has been ruined!

Hmm. Perhaps I can help.

(Oohing and ahhing)

(Bell tolling)

It's midnight!

Merry Christmas, dear.

h*, h*, h*, h*! Merry Christmas!

(Laughing and chattering)

Here, Podgy. This one's for you.

So is this one.

And this one!

They're all for Podgy.

Jackpot! Ah, ha, ha, ha!

Hey! This is the best Christmas ever!

(Groaning)

Hey! Ha, ha, ha! Merry Christmas, everyone!

(Birds chirping)

(Knocking on door)

h*, h*, h*! Merry Christmas!

Huh? What?

What's this?

This is one of Podgy's gifts from Santa.

(Excited chattering)

Hi, Rupert!

Did you get one too?

Yes! What's going on?

That's what we're trying to find out.

Merry Christmas, everybody!

Podgy! What's the meaning of all this?

Why have you given away all your gifts?

Well, I just couldn't hog them all to myself, could I?

Thanks, Podgy!

That was great!

The funny thing is,

I had more fun giving them away than I did getting them!

But now you don't have a gift!

Why don't you keep this one?

Thanks to Rupert, I've already got what I wanted for Christmas.

SANTAHo, h*, h*, h*, h*!

"To Podgy"!

It says, "Dear Podgy:

I'm glad to see that Rupert was right about you! Santa".

What's that all about?

Well, it's a long story.

We don't have time for one of your long stories, Rupert.

Come on inside, everybody!

We've got presents to open!

h*, h*, h*, h*!

Merry Christmas!
