to keep Howie in the game.

But I'm basically going to ask Ivette to vote out April.

I'm Julie Chen.

Welcome to "Big Brother ."

It's day inside the "Big Brother" house.

And after losing one of their own last week,

the Friendship alliance is firmly back in power.

Following her partner's eviction,

Ivette, the waitress from Miami Beach, won Head of Household.

And to no one's surprise, she nominated the Sovereign Two--

Howie from Chicago and Janelle from Miami Beach.

But Janelle won the golden Power of Veto

and removed herself from the chopping block.

In her place, Ivette was forced to nominate

someone from her own alliance.

She put up April from Dallas.

Will Howie be leaving the "Big Brother" house,

or is April's stay coming to an end?

Tonight, the houseguests will cast their votes to evict live.

But first, with only two people voting this week,

Ivette could play a major role in who is evicted tonight.

As HOH, she may have to cast the tie-breaking vote.

This possibility has Howie making a last ditch

effort to stay in the game.

Well, Howie, I have thought about saving you, of course.

But I have decided to use the Power of Veto on myself.

Ivette, I'd like you to name a replacement nominee.

It's been discussed.

April?

It was very expected that Janelle would use

the Power of Veto on herself.

I needed somebody to replace the buxom blonde bombshell.

And so here's April.

What a cute pawn.

So I'm on the block.

It felt really weird, because I never sit in those chairs.

Was it a little nerve-racking?

"Abso-friggin'-lutely."

What can I say, April?

I just needed to find someone beautiful to replace Janelle

and to sit next to Howie.

If, for some reason, I was voted to be evicted this week

and Howie stayed, well, I mean, I

personally feel like it's a lose-lose

for Ivette and Maggie.

Because it would be two against two.

It's plain and simple right now in the "Big Brother "

household.

Janie votes to evict April.

Maggie votes to evict Howie.

One vote from Ivette-a-bird.

That's all I need to keep Howie in the game for another week.

Ivette has to realize, if she wants a shot at the money,

she can't go against April or Maggie.

She wants money. - Right.

That's why she's here.

I think I know everything I need to know.

I have all my weapons at my disposal.

And I'm going to present it to Ivette.

And we'll see if it ends up keeping

Howie in the "Big Brother" house for at least another week.

I don't think that anything that Howie or Janelle says to Ivette

is going to change her mind.

heads so much in this house.

And it's all because of the game.

So I just don't know what's going to happen.

Realistically, in this house, me and Janie

they started to ask me, like, why I came here, and,

don't you want to get closer to that money,

and almost be guaranteed that money?

And I said, well, what are you talking about?

If you left Howie and Janie in this game,

and one of win the HOH over Maggie next week,

you're not getting voted out.

You guaranteed yourself the top three.

And then with one more victory, you have grand.

You have a friendship bond with Maggie.

You have a friendship bond with April.

If they're your true friends, they'll be friends

with you outside of this house.

You are in a position now to win a lot of money.

My life in this game is probably

a / chance right now.

I like to be optimistic about this whole thing

and think that I'm going to survive it.

But there's some truth.

I'm a realistic person.

And reality is, I don't know what

Maggie and April are doing.

I only know what I'm doing.

They're trying to work every angle they can.

What were they saying?

They're telling me that--

--then my chances of winning the money with you guys

are very slim.

I said, can I use the money?

Absolutely.

I said, would it make a world of a difference in my family?

I think Janelle and I have been the girls to say that we never

thought we were going to make it this far,

especially considering I sat on that hot seat like three times.

And it's amazing.

And especially since I got HOH, it's even better.

JULIE: [laughs] Howie, what is it like to be

the only man left in the house?

Well, I mean, you know, I'm stuck

with these beautiful women.

But, you know, they're like family to me.

Or I mean, they're like step-sisters,

really, but non-blood-related.

And I'm the last man standing!

JULIE: Not bad.

Janelle--

Yeah.

I have a question from a fan who wrote in to CBS.com.

What was the hardest competition of the season so far?

I believe that the hardest competition was

definitely the swimming one.

Having to run and then hold your breath underwater--

it was really intense.

It was pretty hard.

JULIE: Congratulations.

You stopped smoking days ago.

JULIE: Do you think you'll be able to keep it up

Yes, absolutely.

not that-- I wasn't really a true smoker.

But yes, I smoked.

And this house intensified everything.

So Janelle and I would always go outside and do that.

But yeah, I definitely-- it's mind over matter.

And you know, I'm making it in the house.

I can definitely make it outside in the real world.

The only one that I have my questions about is April.

Because April can start problems.

When Howie was Head of Household for the first time,

April and Jennifer were trying to see

if they can vote Ivette out.

We are the only Friendship.

The Friendship, you know, has hung in there.

But I don't know sometimes, you know?

It was-- sometimes, it got kind of sketchy.

As Ivette's girlfriend, it's probably not right for me

to say that, A, I do like Janelle.

Oh, Janie!

Oh, Howie!

I like Janelle in the game.

I think she's a great player.

She's beautiful.

She's smart.

She's witty.

They want to see the blonde bombshell?

I'm going to show them the blond bombshell.

She's charismatic.

She's got all these great qualities.

And I do see where Ivette may be jealous

I was so happy to find out that Ivette

makes me real proud of Ivette.

A group of us came together being underestimated weaklings.

And now, we're taking out a big threat out of this house.

I think that Ivette has made it this far

in the game for a reason.

And she's got to do what she's got to do.

What it like to have that happen back to back?

It was one of those feelings that's happened this season.

Your partner leaves, and the person who stays gets HOH.

I got HOH a little too late.

But sure enough, I did get HOH with Beau's strength.

And that was amazing.

Now, when Janelle took herself off the block,

you had to nominate a member of your own alliance.

Why did you choose April over Maggie?

We chose April over Maggie.

It was a group decision.

Because April has not sat on the hot seat yet.

She has not had to pack.

And Maggie had already gone through it twice.

So it only seemed fair.

How important is the money to you?

And what would you do with all that money

if you won the grand prize?

I don't want to cry, but this is so

hard to answer without tears.

The main reason for coming out to this show was for my family.

It's kind of bothered me the way she's all about the money

now, when she never cared about the money.

I don't really stand a chance in hell

oh, you don't know the debt that I could take care of my family.

or three instead of Eric.

And she went out and hit the bocce ball and became HOH.

And ever since then, I mean, it was a backward--
