- Let's face it, Kate.

You're a girl and there isn't a girl in the world

who can beat me at anti-grav racquet ball.

- L.J.,

the only thing more fragile than your racquet ball game

is your ego.

Serve!

Don't forget

that this girl was the national amateur champion last year.

- The key word is 'amateur'!

- Are you still going to like me if I win?

- Probably not!

- Ah, I missed!

- The winner and still champion

L.J. the Magnificent!

Don't feel bad, Kate.

I mean, you're really a good player for a girl.

Oh, give me a break, L.J.!

Winning isn't everything.

Besides, as long as you're my girl,

you're the biggest winner in Central City.

- That's it. Stop the bike.

- Hey, what's your problem?

- First of all, I'm not your girl,

I am my own person.

Secondly, I let you win that racquetball game.

- You what?

- Good night, L.J.. - Women!

- Hey, lady, you need a ride?

- No, thank you.

Hey,

what do you think you're doing?

Let go of me.

Help! Somebody please help me!

- I just don't understand it.

Kate went supernova on me,

just because I called her my girl.

- Chill out, L.J., you didn't say anything wrong.

- It seems to me that Kate had every reason to be upset.

If you have any brains at all, L.J.,

you will apologize for being a dope

and ask her out on another date.

- What are you talking about?

I didn't do anything wrong, I just--

- Hi, L.J.

Listen, I'm sorry about last night.

- Don't mention it!

- I was hoping we could go out again tonight.

- I, well, sure!

- Great!

Maybe Rick and Jedda would like to join us?

- That's fine by me. - Good idea.

- Okay, your man will pick you up at :.

- I wonder why Kate's wearing sunglasses indoors?

- Yeah, I was wondering about that, too.

- She probably cried herself to sleep last night

over the thought of losing me.

- Somehow, I doubt that.

- That is one very frightening demonstration.

- You can say that again.

The new laser cannons on board

the space station can take out an entire city.

- I truly hope we never have to use this weapon.

- Now here are what I call

some very fine-looking young people.

- Thanks, Dad.

I want to introduce everybody to my lady, Kate.

- Hi, Kate. How do you do? - Glad to meet you.

- How did the space station experiment go, Dad?

- Fine, Son. Just fine.

- No, Kisa.

I'm terribly sorry, Kate.

I don't know what's gotten into her.

- Oh, that's okay, Jedda. She doesn't know me.
[ … ]

- Come on, we're wasting time. - Good night, Father.

- Yeah, let's get this party on the road.

See ya, everybody!

- Have a good time, and take care.

Good girl, Kisa.

- Have you two heroes made a decision

on where you are taking us?

- I have a suggestion.

I know it sounds silly,

but could we go up to the space station?

- Tonight?

- I would really love to, L.J.

It will be my first time in space

and it would be wonderful to experience it with you.

- I don't know, Kate.

- It would be so romantic.

- Lady, that's the magic word.

Hey, Rick, what do you say we take Kate up to the station?

- I don't know, L.J.

It's against regulations

to take unauthorized personnel up there.

- Rick's right, L.J.

- Oh, Come on, you guys. What harm can it do?

She thinks it's romantic!

- Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt anything.

What do you think, Jedda?

- Okay, I guess.

- Thank you, L.J.!

This should be unforgettable!

To think you have this all the time, L.J.

Space is so beautiful!

- It really is, Kate.

Funny, sometimes we take things for granted.

Oh, Defenders' space station, coming up.

- This is so exciting.

Is there anyone inside?

- Nah, the whole shebang is run by a computer system

called Dynac X.

- Will Dynac X alert your parents

when we enter the station?

I don't want anyone to get in trouble on account of me.

- Good point, Kate.

Relax, I'll shut down Dynac

and nobody'll be the wiser.

- I don't know, Rick.

- No big deal, Jedda, just for a few minutes.

- This is perfect.

- Perfect for romance?

- No, perfect for military conquest.

- What you guys doing, practicing karate?

- Hey, put me down!

What's the big idea?

- I heard of playing hard to get, but--

- What? You're not Kate!

Who are you?

- You're a Frost Person!

- I'm not your girl anymore, L.J.

Now I belong to Ming the Merciless!

- Kate, what's happening?

- Kate's a Frost Person.

Look at her eyes!

- I have obeyed my master.

Ming!

It'll be okay, Rick.

Ming's ship'll be incinerated by Dynac's defense systems.

- Look, Romeo,

I disconnected Dynac, remember?

- I tell you, Mandrake,

I was born a hundred and fifty years too late.

I should have been a cowboy.

- Nice shot, Tex.

- Attention! Attention!

All operating systems have been shut down

on board the space station.

- What could have happened?

- Come on, let's get The Phantom and Lothar

and take a look.

- I'm so cold.

- It's okay, Jedda, you're going to be all right.

- How could something that started out so great,

end up like this?

- Because you are a foolish young man

like your father

who will soon meet the same untimely end.

- Ming!

- Rick, no!

- Very amusing!

- What is it you want, Ming?

- Want?

I want nothing!

Thanks to you,

I now have the weapon

to bring mankind to its knees.

- The new laser cannon.

- Precisely.

- Kate, please, listen to me.

I don't know what Ming's done to you,

but you've got to help us.

- I serve Ming.

- I'm sure the computer shutdown
[ … ]

is just some sort of glitch in the system.

- Strange that Dynac didn't project this glitch, Flash.

- Looks like we have some uninvited guests.

- I'm a bit concerned as to why Ming's roboships

are loitering in this area.

- I wonder if there could be any connection

with the shutdown of our space station's

computer system?

- Nah, how could that be?

- Four of Ming's roboships, closing in fast!

- Well, let's show them

a little Defenders' style hospitality.

- What are you waiting for, Garax?

Destroy them!

- Prepare to fire on signal.

Abandon the attack!

Pull out! Pull out!

- Now it's my turn.

Hold onto your hat, Mandrake!

- Again?

- Lothar, let's give these robo turkeys

a taste of the laser sword.

- You got it, Flash.

- Number four, take evasive action.

- You fool!

Ming does not retreat!

Attack! Attack! Attack!

- Roboships two and three, close ranks with number one.

Destroy the Defenders' swordship!

- Fire! Fire!

- En garde!

- No!

- Activate the space station's laser cannon quickly!

- Laser cannon activated.

- Hold on!

- I couldn't let all of you die

without first thanking you for your new laser cannon.

It will be most helpful

in my becoming Emperor of your Earth!

- Oh, no, you.

- Oh, one last message for Flash.

- We cannot allow Ming

to turn that laser cannon against Earth!

- All will be destroyed!

- There is only one way to stop him.

We must destroy the space station!

- Excuse my ignorance,

but in a few seconds we will all be ancient history.

How do you propose we destroy the space station?

- There's a doomsday device

we can trigger by remote control.

It'll blow the space station,

the laser cannon and Ming right into the history books with us.

What do you say?

- We have no choice.

- Do it! - Do it.

- It's done.

Without wings, this sucker flies like a rock!

- That is very reassuring, Flash.

- Just want to keep you guys up-to-date.

Hey, wait a minute.

It can't fly, but maybe it can spin!

- A helicopter prop?

- Why not?

We've got nothing to lose.

- We made it?

- You guys weren't worried, were you?

- Attention, Defenders! Attention!

- Dynac, old girl, what's up?

- Last transmission from Ming

has been retrieved.

- Play it back, Dynac.

- Oh, one last message for Flash,

Phantom, and Lothar.

I thought you might like to know

that I have your children imprisoned

on the space station.

I had planned on using them as hostages,

but now that you are about to die,

I will just transform them

into mindless sl*ves!

[laughs]

- We've sentenced our own children

to die.

- The doomsday weapon is on countdown.

- There's got to be a way to turn it off!

- Once armed,

the device can only be de-activated

from inside the space station.

- Then we go to the space station!

- We'll never get near the place

with that laser cannon hammering away at us.

- I have an idea that might solve that problem.

What about another ship?

- There's a military base near here.

I think the base commander will lend us a ship.

- We can't just sit here.

We've got to do something.

- If you want to tangle with that energy field,

be my guest.
[ … ]

- I think I can get us out of here.

- How?

- By re-directing the energy beams

off these reflecting stones.

- How do you plan on re-directing them all?

- I don't have to re-direct them all, just one.

Watch.

- Incredible! You did it!

- But what do we do about that?

- Two big cubes are guarding the elevator.

- Bait and hook?

- Good idea.

I'll be the bait, you guys be the hook.

Hey, glacier heads, over here.

Let's go!

- Please step to the rear of the elevator.

- I have a plan that just may help us

re-activate Dynac X and contact Monitor.

- Jedda, you're the best!

- I've got to find Kate.

- I understand, get going.

- Why haven't your troops found those miserable children?

- We will find them, Sire!

They cannot escape.

- What is that?

- It is nothing just space debris.

- Have your robots continue to scan our perimeter?

You come with me.

- Yes, Sire!

- How much time do we have left?

- Not much.

- Let's move out.

- Intruder alert!

Corridor Number Three!

- We still have to get into the command center.

- Kate, you've got to listen to me.

- You are an enemy of Ming!

- Kate, please, it's me, L.J.! Remember?

The guy you always let win zero-G racquet ball games.

I'm your friend, L.J.!

You must listen to me! There is still time.

Ming is trying to take control of your mind.

- L.J.?

- Yeah, L.J.!

You got to fight him, Kate. Fight him for both of us.

- L.J.! - Yeah! You're doing it!

You're doing it, Kate!

- Fool!

You think your Earthly emotions can overcome Ming's command.

Destroy this Earthling!

- Earthling.

- Kate, remember what you told me?

You said you're not my girl,

that you're your own person.

Well, if that's true,

then you don't belong to Ming either.

- Do as I command!

- Don't give in to him, Kate!

- Destroy them both!

- Smile when you say that.

- How can this be?

- I have the strangest feeling

Ming is not particularly glad to see us.

- They're gone!

- I can't believe

we fell for such a tacky little magic trick.

- Son, are you two okay?

- Yeah, we're fine now, Dad.

Thanks.

- One minute and ten seconds, let's move it!

- What can I do?

- Take care of Kate.

I'll catch up with you later, I hope.

- seconds!

I'll get the doomsday switch.

By Jungle Law,

the ghost who walks

calls forth the Power of Ten Tigers!

[whooshing]

- Lothar, you've got to get me down

to floor level right away.

The Phantom's not going to make it in time!

- Cover me!

Hang on!

- I'm not going to make it!

I should have been a cowboy.

- Ming escaped

while we were deactivating the doomsday device.

- How are you feeling now, Kate?

- I'm fine, thank you.

And I'm sorry I caused you so much trouble.

- This was not your doing, my dear.

You were simply the pawn in a much bigger game.

- If there's one thing I've learned, Mandrake,

it's that Kate is nobody's pawn,

she's her own person.

- That's good,

because she's going to be on her own
[ … ]

or at least without your company

for quite some time.

- What do you mean, Dad?

- You broke regulations by coming up here

which means you are grounded, L.J.

- Oh, no!

- Hey, tough break, lover boy.

- Better luck next time, L.J.

- Don't laugh,

- Oh, no!

- But a little love can really help warm it up.
