07x15 - Reunion

Post by bunniefuu »

Tonight, the D.C. Chefs
and judges

are back...
[bleep].

Your a*s should be gone.

To reunite about a shocker
in Singapore...

If I were to write this story,
I would never write it

the way it went down.
A Top Chef wedding...

[Laughs]

And pea puree.

At no point did I think
pea puree was a big deal.

Well, if something is stolen,
it's a big deal.

Plus, we'll reveal the cast
of Top Chef: All-Stars now.

Hey, everybody,
I'm Andy Cohen.

Welcome to the Top Chef: D.C.
Reunion,

and welcome to our judges.

Hey, Gail.
Hi, Andy.

Tom Colicchio.

Padma Lakshmi.
Hello.

And Eric Ripert.
Thanks for being here.

What do you say we welcome
the Chefs of Top Chef: D.C.?

Hi, Chefs.
All: Hi.

We're not gonna reveal
the fan favorite tonight.

It's gonna be revealed
on watch what happens tomorrow.

But tonight we're gonna reveal

the Chefs who will compete

in our first ever season
of All-Stars,

coming to Bravo
in December.

And two of the Chefs competing
are sitting among you.

So that should be very cool,
right, Tom?

I think so.

Before we get into anything,

we have to congratulate
the winner

of Top Chef: D.C.,
Kevin.

[Applause]

Kevin, how surprised

were you when Padma
said your name in Singapore?

Very surprised.
Um...

It's just hard
to gather it all and make sure

she's really calling my name,
you know.

It meant a lot to me.

I felt confident,
but I felt confident before,

and I've been on the bottom
and almost went home

a couple times,
so I was surprised.

Angelo, you had
to be surprised.

He cooked the better dish
that day.

He did an amazing job,

and I give him props.

Tom, what did it come down to
in Singapore?

Every season,
it comes down to the best food.

And we thought that, for
the entire breadth of the menu,

that Kevin's dishes were better.

There are a lot
of conspiracy theorists

who may say, look,
you had Michael Voltaggio

as your sous Chef.

That had to have helped
push you over the edge.

You know,
Mike's a great guy.

I've known him for a long time.

You know, seeing him there
was like--it was a connection.

You want to cook this now?
No, let's marinate it.

Leave it in the marinade
overnight?

Yeah.
I'm proud of you, man.

Thank you.
You know, he's like go for it.

Do you think
you could have won without him?

I could have won with him
or hung.

I've worked with hung
as well.

Conversely, Ed,
you seemed disappointed

that you got Ilan.

Well, 'cause I knew--

all right, yeah.
[laughter]

Do you want some green?

I personally really don't.

So then [Bleep] It.
The Rouge is gonna [Bleep] suck.

Okay, we might have to...
Modify.

So what did that do
to your confidence

or, you know, do you think
that Ilan

hurt you in the finale?

He didn't hurt me
at all.

Let's get that--no.

I just want to be clear.
Ilan hall can cook.

Yeah.
In case anyone--

like, I mean, we're all--

we're all, like,
bagging on him,

but he also won too,

lest we forget.

Well, Kevin,
let's take a look

at your journey to the title
of Top Chef.

My name is Kevin Sbraga.

My mom and dad
were both bakers.

I learned how to walk
in their bakery.

I mean,
this is who I am.

It's cooking.
Kevin's hardcore.

[Bleep].

He is extremely hard
on himself.

I've had a little bit

of a bad streak.

I've been on the bottom twice.

My biggest personal struggle

has been the death
of my mother.

When she got sick,
she was in a coma.

I'm the one
that had to make the decision

to take her
off the life support.

It was tough.

Have you guys been praying
for me?

My number one goal

is to be able to take care

of my family.

I love you too.
I miss you.

I'm still here.
I'm a fighter.

It's something I got
from my mom.

That's not gonna work.
[mutters]

It's not gonna work that way.

Kevin feels things
very deeply.

Yes, I do have a temper.

So chill out, please.

No, I don't have to chill.

I don't have to do
a [Bleep] thing.

People underestimated me.

I'm kind of laying low.
I'm definitely the underdog.

I'm cooking
from inside now.

I've made a stewed chicken
flavored with curry.

Kevin's presentations
are just out of control.

He is the Salvador Dali
of presentations.

He's got that beautiful,
subtle flavor combined

with the beautiful look
of the food.

I think
this is really pretty.

Well, Kevin should paint.

I love the way you layer
the entire dish.

The Chef that made the dish
that was delectable

is Kevin.
Yes!

I want to win Top Chef

for my family--
my wife and my daughter

and the new baby
that's coming.

Kevin,

you are Top Chef.

I am?

You are.
[laughter]

Best reaction ever.
And I win.

Jersey's taking that belt home.

Top Chef.

My son's gonna have a proud papa
to look up to, so...

Thank you, guys.
Hooray.

Congratulations.

[Cheers and applause]

So, Kevin, what are you
gonna do with the money?

I want to get
my own place open.

Use it for seed money
for that.

As well as--we're looking
to buy a new house.

That's really important
as well.

That's really great.

Well, Angelo,
you specialize

in Asian cuisine.

You had to think,
going into this finale,

that it was yours to win.

What happened?

Kevin did an amazing job.

I mean, I have
the highest respect for him.

He cooked his heart out
that day.

Beyond how sick you were,

how heartbroken were you
that you had waited this long

and then you feel like crap?

Andy, if I were to write
the story,

I would never write it
the way it went down.

Oh, [Bleep].
I'm very grateful.

Hung helping me, I mean,
I wouldn't be in that position

if hung didn't dig deep
and fight for me

to compete,
so I'm just very grateful.

Well, Kenny, you made one
of the judges' favorite meals

of the season
and then got knocked off

in restaurant wars.

Certainly earlier
than you thought.

How much of a surprise was that?

Yeah, it was a shock.

But, you know,
I was really impressed

with the other team's food.

I thought
that Tiffany, Ed, Angelo,

they put their heart
and soul into the food.

Unfortunately, it just didn't,
you know, go my way.

What about you guys?
Were you surprised

that Kenny didn't go further?

You know,
it can happen to anybody.

You look back
on past seasons,

you know, a lot of Chefs

who you'd think would make it
to the finale

didn't get there.

Well, we have a lot of
questions from Top Chef fans

who wrote to bravotv.com.

Tom, Lauren from Providence,
Rhode Island

writes, "I love Tom,

"but he's getting grumpier
with each season.

What gives?"
[laughter]

Were you grumpy this season?
There were times.

There were times.

Early in the season,
the food was--

just didn't live up,
and, yes, I was getting grumpy.

Is that what makes you
grumpiest?

Bad food?
Yeah, you know,

it takes about a month
to sh**t the show,

and you're away from home,

and you're away from your kids
and everything.

The payoff is good food.

And if there's no payoff,

you get grumpy,
yeah, sure.

Susan from Manhattan
has a question to Eric Ripert.

I don't know
what the answer is,

but she says, "Andy,
can you ask Eric

how he got so good-looking?"

[Laughter]

Is there a recipe
for that, Eric?

Uh.

I don't know what to say,
really.

But sometimes I hear
that comment,

which doesn't make sense to me,

and I always say, "it doesn't
help in the kitchen."

[Laughter]

Tiffany,
you almost made it to Singapore.

And it seemed
like the food in that challenge

was all great
and that you were

really nitpicking.

Do you remember
what it was?

It came down
to the final presentation

and how clean Kevin dish
was looking

compared to your dish,
which was delicious,

but it was a little bit more...
Rustic.

Rustic.
How painful

was that for you,
Tiffany?

You know, it was--
it was very emotional.

And you live,
you learn, and you keep going.

And I'm just happy
that I had the opportunity.

Much has changed for you
since we last saw you.

You recently...

Got married.

I is married now.
[laughter]

Congratulations.

[Applause]

And lucky for us,

Arnold was at the wedding

and brought us
some home video.

Let's take a look.

It's only appropriate
that the winner receive a trip

to Paris, France.
Whoa!

That would be wonderful
if I could pack that in the bag

for me and my fiance to be,

like, our little
honeymoon getaway.

The Chef who really made
a very tasty dish

was Tiffany.

Yes!

I got a honeymoon.

I'm marrying the love
of my life

in Costa Rica.

Mr. and Mrs.
Markcole Mitchell.

Ladies and gentlemen,
Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell!

[Applause]

When are you going to Paris?

Sometime next year.

Great.

Well, Ed,
you and Tiffany

certainly developed
a unique bond.

Did we?
And Tiffany I know

just got married,

but take a look
at your experience on Top Chef

with Ed.
This is great.

This is good for my girlfriend.

Me and Tiffany get along
really great.

Gosh darn it
to heck, doohickey.

You know,
she's always smiling.

She's very upbeat.

She's a very positive girl.
Whoo-hoo!

They call him
the tasmanian devil,

but he's my Eddie,

though he goes a little crazy.

[Laughs]

They have a funny kind
of banter.

I know Ed has a girlfriend
and Tiffany's getting married,

and I'm pretty certain
that if Tiffany's fiance

caught wind of anything
that was kind of not so good...

We can get
a little quick one in though

before she walks down
the aisle.

Ed would be in big trouble.

[Laughter]

Oh! Oh, man.

You're gonna be--you're gonna
be in trouble for that one.

Wow.

You're gonna be in trouble
for that one.

[Laughter]

Oh.

Everything was cool
up until that one.

Oh, man.

Wow, Ed, you are red
as a beet.

He should be.
Oh, yeah.

So what is it
between the two of you?

I would describe it
as friendship.

Everyone develops friendships.

And what do
your significant others

think about your friendship?
Oh, man.

You know,
he just laughs it off.

And he knows
who I go home to.

Ed?
My girlfriend Diana is...

Yeah, you better say
the name.

No.
My ex-girlfriend Diana.

[Laughter]

No, at first,
she was just like,

"the thing
with you and Tiffany,"

and I'm like,
"there's nothing. Don't worry."

So I don't know.
I don't know.

I just feel
really bad right now.

[Laughter]

Well, we have a lot more
with the Chefs

coming up,
plus, a little bit later,

we're gonna reveal the cast

of Top Chef: All-Stars
when we come back.

It would really piss me off

if Alex stole
my pea puree.

Alex,
the number one question,

did you really steal
Ed's pea puree?

Oh.
Well...

We're back with the Chefs
and judges

from Top Chef: D.C.

In D.C., politicians are famous
for passing the buck,

but you Chefs were pretty good
at the blame game.

Take a look.

Did you taste his salad
as a finished product?

It was overdressed.

You didn't tell him?
It's delicious.

Um...

The pasta.
Let's do it.

Yeah, please.

Arnold, if it's overcooked,
it's on you.

That's fine, but I...
Yeah, it's not fine

because I'll be thrown off too.

Were you guys happy
with the outcome?

Does the pasta taste good?
Tastes good.

I think
it probably could have been

just refined
a little bit mor

I'm surprised
that this is coming to surface.

Um, guys, I'm changed.
I'm doing a tuna tartare.

Oh, yeah?

Nice.
Thank you.

I think you know the problems
with the tartare.

Yeah.
Would you have done tartare?

I wouldn't have done it.

If I could jump in,
I think the fact that somebody

knew that they had
no vegetables

and said they knew
they had no vegetables,

being Kenny...

So it's acceptable
to have pudding

that has two pounds
of sugar in it.

Do you have any idea
how much sugar

is in processed peanut butter?

It's, like, maybe one of
the worst things in the world.

Does Sherry wine
even need to be

in an elementary school?

Do you have alcohol?

Yeah, like Sherry
for cooking.

They weren't drinking it.

There's a lot
of things I like.

I love vodka.
I'm not cooking with it.

[Applause]

I do love vodka.

So, Amanda,
what's the deal?

We got so many viewer emails

wondering why you cooked with
Sherry at a kids' challenge.

I don't--I guess I don't,
like, have an explanation.

You do weird things
on this show

that you wouldn't normally do.

And it wasn't expensive,
for the record.

It cost $3.
I don't think the price

was the issue.

I'm just saying
there was a lot said about that.

Like, you know, honestly...
Where were we cooking?

Who were you cooking for?
Kids.

Little ones.
Yeah.

And they were very loud
when we were there, by the way.

Must have been all that Sherry
they were high on.

They were drunk.
No!

Well, lynne,
you and Arnold

were not on the same page
at all.

We were never--we were never
angry at each other.

I was actually there
that day for judges' table,

and you were not pleased
with each other.

I think we were
just more frustrated

with the situation,
not at each other,

but with how things panned out.

I mean, I don't think
that we went home

for a bad dish.

But the pasta was raw.

Yeah, I know
it was raw.

Let's bring that back up.
We know that.

I don't know if you--
half of you may.

Well, then sure.

Andrea, when you came
in the kitchen

and Michelle Bernstein
was standing there,

you were displeased.

What went wrong there?

I have no idea
what you're talking about.

Michelle Bernstein.

I'm not really happy
to see Michelle Bernstein.

Michelle and I are both Chefs
in Miami,

and there's a bit of a rivalry
between the two of us.

But I'sure it's not gonna
affect your judgment in any way.

It's all about the food.

Yeah, I was displeased.

Michelle and I have been
in the business in Miami

for a while and kind of came up
through the ranks,

so I was uncomfortable.
I'm not gonna lie.

And I think
everyone who watched the show

was well aware
of how uncomfortable I was.

Do you think she was able
to be impartial in her judging?

Well, you know, I'm not sure
I really want to go there,

but there have been
many people

who have had their opinions
on it,

and let's just say
I like their opinions.

You know, I can tell you,

she was as uncomfortable
as you were.

She actually went
out of her way

to be as impartial
as she could.

It sounds like there's
some history there, though.

[Laughter]
Yeah, I don't know.

Maybe you guys shared
a boyfriend or something.

I don't know.
But I'm just saying, like--

you know, I'll tell you
what it was.

A long time ago,
Michelle stole my pea puree,

and I couldn't get past it.
[laughter]

[Applause]

Now you know
what happened to it, Ed.

I'm just saying.
I'm just saying.

I'm just saying.

Alex, the number one question
that we got

for this reunion--

did you really steal

Ed's pea puree?

Before you answer,

Alex, he's skating by.

You didn't do a [Bleep] Thing.

I don't know

He said he got peas.

Alex, did you see
that pea puree?

The only person
that has a pea puree

is Alex.

It was not made
the day before.

It's really coincidental

that Ed uldn't find
his pea puree.

I didn't even know
he was making pea puree.

Eddie, I looked.
I couldn't find it.

There's no way he had

And where's mine?

Oh, you'll be getting yours.
Okay.

It'll be in wardrobe later.
You can steal it.

You know, I'll tell you this.

You know, we've had a lot of fun
with this pea puree thing.

You know,
people have been asking me.

They come into the restaurant.

As far
as me stealing something,

I would never steal
from anybody.

I made that pea puree.

When did you make it?

I made it as soon
as I got to the restaurant.

He made it right next to me.

Like, first thing he did
was get a blender out

and blend peas.

So you saw him
making the pea puree?

Yeah, he made it
right next to me.

Tiffany, you seem
dubiously unconvinced.

I'm not really buying
the whole story

of "I made my own pea puree."

All I'm saying

is that I had no idea

Alex was making the pea puree,
nor did he say,

"Ed, hey, I made my own."

I mean, like,
he just looked guilty

throughout the whole process.

At no point
did I think

that the pea puree
was a big deal.

In fact...

Well, if something is stolen,
it's a big deal.

But I didn't actually think

that I was being accused
of theft.

I mean, Ed,
do you think he stole

your pea puree?

Half of me says yes.

Half of me says
it just fell out.

I mean, after hearing Amanda
say she saw him make it.

That doesn't mean anything.

Really?
That's insane.

I don't understand
this statement, though--

"it takes a long time
to make a pea puree."

I picked the peas.
They were blanched...

What was interesting
about that is,

you know, my thing was, like,
the night before,

he didn't even have an idea

of a dish
that he even wanted to do.

You bought the--
you bought the peas?

She tried--
he definitely bought peas,

because they weren't
very good.

Not because of anything
he did to them.

Just they were really starchy.
Kudos to you.

You turned starchy peas
into a winning dish.

Thank you.

And there's probably footage
of it.

It's just not in,
because it doesn't really--

no, there's not.

There's no footage
of it anywhere?

I asked for it,
and they said

they looked
through hours for it

and couldn't find it.
Really?

Exactly.
I got to tell you,

if it was on camera
that you made pea puree

and you did not--
and you stole it,

it would have been shown.

Absolutely.
And you'd have been gone

I don't know
if that's true too.

I think
this is good television.

You know what,

with all due respect,
it would have been shown.

No, it would have been shown.
But also, quite frankly,

if there was footage
of you making it,

it would have just made Ed

that was major.

I don't think so.

looking at yourself on the show,

do you think
you come off c*ck?

I'll put it this way.

I know what I know,
and I know what I don't know.

There's a fine line

between confidence
and c*ck.

I think if you're a Chef
in a kitchen,

you almost have to have
a certain amount of c*ck

to lead your team.

Well, Kenny,
no matter who's better,

you will always be
the beast in the kitchen.

And the folks at shop by bravo
thought so too,

so they made you
this shirt.

And it's available
for everybody.

Nice.
Yes.

Oh, do you have this
on your tattoo?

Show 'em, big daddy.

Let's see.

Wow.
Check that out.

Beast in--
beast of the kitchen.

That had to hurt, no?

It did.
Yes.

Thank you.

Um, seems like one Chef

took the brunt of the criticism
at judges' table this season.

Stephen, I'm talking
about you.

Watch.
Oh.

Harsh comments
is difficult to swallow.

This is terrible.
Just looked like cat food.

It tastes like something
that you open a can

and put on a plate.
What the hell is this?

You know, they have a lot
of people's food to try.

This is awful.
Terrible flavor.

Cheap.
It's just not good.

But mine was, I'm pretty sure,
their least favorite.

I took a couple of licks
from Chef Tom.

I thought the meat
was actually overcooked.

I took a couple of licks
from Gail.

Stephen's dish,
it looked sort of sloppy.

Padma.

And we have wilty,
greasy greens.

Okay, I took licks
from everybody.

Rubbery.
Not that juicy.

Just greasy.
There's no narrative.

It had no refinement.
There was some things

that were said
that I will hear

for the rest
of my cooking career.

Very '80s to me.

It'll probably be printed
on my gravestone--

"cleveland rocks,
but Chef Steve's dish didn't."

He's like
the kid in school

who's always at
the principal's office.

[Laughter]

I made one good dish.

Say something nice
to him.

Tom,
say something nice to him.

You don't have to.
It's all right.

Did you win a challenge?
What's that?

Did you win a challenge?
Three,

but they didn't show
any of them.

[Laughter]

Do you think you got
an unfair shake from these guys?

Almost all their critiques
I agree with.

I cook through a lot of trial
and error

before I put a dish
on the menu,

and you don't have the time to
second-guess yourself, you know.

Once you make a track,

you pretty much have
to go for it,

'cause that's how much time
there is.

There e certain Chefs
that work that way.

And it clearly--
if that's the way you work,

it doesn't bode well for you
in this competition.

'Cause it is just sh**ting
from the hip.

Yeah,
you're throwing darts,

and I think only two of mine
kind of half-landed.

What's been the response
in your kitchen in Vegas?

Actually, quite positive.

People thought I was
the coolest person on the show.

Pretty much everybody
I've ever talked to.

[Laughter]
[hisses]

Well, Heather
in Portland, Oregon

wrote, "the thing I love most
about the Top Chef reunion shows

"is when you show all
the crazy stuff that happens

in the stew room."

Well, Heather,
ask and you shall receive.

All: Uh-oh.

Everyone's excited
to be in the stew room

for the first time, but the
novelty wears off very fast.

We sit in a room.
We create some games.

[Laughs]
Oh, that was so much fun.

[Glass shatters]

[Bleep].
I was gonna drink that.

Next thing you know, we have
a big craps table on the floor.

Anybody want
to play Blackjack?

Let's pretend
like we're in Vegas.

Whoo! I'll stay.

Casino Top Chef seven
is open.

Yay!
[cheers]

Winner.

Even to this day,
I still want to be

a professional baseball player.

You got to throw it hard.

[Laughter]

It didn't gek
in the wall.

It went through the wall.

Damn.
Holy...

[Applause]

That was hilarious.

That's great.

Anybody win any money
in the Vegas stew room?

They played for candy.

Candy.

Sounds like prison.
[laughter]

Well--
I know, right?

A lot--a little.
Yeah.

Well, we have a lot of
questions from Top Chef fans

who wrote to bravotv.Com.

John, Anne from San Francisco

emailed and wants to know,

"are you still pissed
at yourself

"for using
a pre-made pastry puff

and getting eliminated first?"

If I were to do it over again,

I wouldn't do it that way.

I think if I would have cooked
anything else,

I would have been on the show
a lot longer.

Have you had people
coming to try your food?

Or what's happened to you
since the show?

The restaurant,
the lark restaurant,

has become very popular again.

Dessert sales up or down?

[Laughter]
Dessert sales are up

because I'm not doing 'em,
Tom.

[Laughter]

Okay, Tracy,
what's it like

when colicchio says

that you've insulted italians
everywhere.

If that's what you call
Italian food,

that's almost insulting
to italians.

Me being one.

Sorry.

I think my ten-year-old son

probably could have made
that Patty.

Jesus Christ.

Yeah, I hoped that had gotten
edited out, but...

Oh, that...
Yeah.

[Laughter]

I was hoping
it got edited out,

I'll tell you the truth,
after I said it,

but I knew
that wasn't gonna happen.

All right, well, Gail,
Brent wants to know,

"how is it different being
a judge on Top Chef to being

a host-judge on Top Chef:
Just desserts?"

Well, it was a learning curve
for sure.

I had watched Padma do it,

and I am not gonna pretend
that I don't have

the best job on television
as a judge on this show.

As my husband says,
I come, I eat,

I yap, I leave.

And you can't do that
as a host.

You've got a lot more work.

But also
really rewarding, so...

I'm sure
you're gonna be fabulous.

I have no doubt.
I can't wait to see it.

Fingers crossed.
Mazel to you.

I'm really excited
to see it.

Well, you know, you guys do
your share of screwing around

in the stew room,
but actually you have

nothing on these judges.

Watch.

Rolling!
[laughs]

Speed.

Did you just say, "speed"?
I did.

Serious faces,
everyone.

Look at the camera, Ahh!

[Whistles]

Let's go!
Giddyup.

Giddyup.

Padma, tell 'em
what they won.

You won a brand-new car!

Who are we sending home?

So many bad flavors.
[laughs]

No, Tom, you cannot go home.
[bleep].

I'll come by later on
and check in on you.

Tuck you in.

We have some discussing to do,
and...

[Laughs, whispers]

[Laughs]

Sorry.

Who wants to puke?

For the winner,
you'll get, ta-da...

[Chuckles maniacally]
Cash!

You get cash!

You're a hot lion.

[Purrs]

Tell me yes.

Oui.

Tom, do it again.

Yes, I agree.
Yes. Agreed.

See, was that so hard?

That's right.
Two Chefs will be going home.

That's right.

In your face, Chefs.

I wish I was not today
the judge from Spain having

to judge a guy for spain--
how do you say it? Yudge?

Both: Yudge.

Are you making fun
of my accent?

Judge. Ja. Ja.
No, it's sexy.

[High-pitched]
Chicken.

Michelle adds, like,
two extra rs to every word.

It's hot.
I think your tongue

is just twice as thick
as everyone's.

No, it's twice as long.
Whoo!

Gonna be
an ugly judges' table.

Yes, Anthony.
It is going to be.

We got plenty of gin.
Chef Ripert requires Tequila.

Lots of Tequila
and good Tequila.

A proper chicken.

It's just beautiful.

You're beautiful.

Oh, you are.
I mean, really.

Everybody agrees.
Everybody.

You're pretty cute, too.

I like to cut my ba*ls
with a fork.

Thank you. I'm glad
that you're handling the ba*ls.

[Laughter and applause]

Crying over here.
I know.

Every bit of tape is used.

Lovely.

Surprising to see you all
acting that way.

We'll be back

with more with our Chefs
and judges,

and later find out

which two D.C. Chefs

will be featured

in Top Chef: All-Stars.

This season's show open,

people thought that it seemed
a little different.

[Laughter]
Whoa!

Wow.
That the late-night version?

I was doing
what they told me to do.

Oh, my!

What would happen
if some of you

paired off
and had babies?

What would your babies
look like?

Here's John
and Jacqueline's baby.

[Laughter]

If lynne and Arnold
had a baby.

[Laughter]

What about Angelo and Tamesha?

I don't know
who that...

[Laughter]

Ed and Tiffany.

[Laughter]

Amanda and Alex.

[Laughter]

That looks
like colicchio a little bit.

What about Kevin and Kenny?

[Laughter]

That's hysterical.

If Tom and Padma had a baby.

Ohh.
No, no, no.

What do you think
of your love child?

We must never procreate.

No, no.

We are back
with the Chefs and judges

from Top Chef: D.C.

You know, we got a lot
of comments

from viewers
who thought

that the open of Top Chef
seemed

a little different this season.

I didn't notice anything,

but let's watch.

[Sexy music]

Oh, God.

[Laughter]

No, I can't...

Oh, my God.

[Shrieks]

Hey!

[Laughter]

Whoa!

Wow.
That's the late-night version?

That's the late-night version.

Oh, my.
Good, right?

Wow, you guys
really brought it

at that show open sh**t.

Thank you.

Amanda, what were
you vibing on that day?

What was I vibing?

I was doing
what they told me to do.

They said,
"play with your hair."

I was playing with my hair.

Good God.
I think it's quite excellent.

One of the cool things
about this season,

it took place in D.C.,

and you interacted and cooked
for so many politicians.

Who was your favorite
to cook for?

Nancy pelosi,
definitely my favorite.

I thought
that was super cool.

It's delicious.
Congratulations.

That she, like, took time
out of her busy schedule

to, like,
come be our judge.

Anybody else?

Buzz aldrin.
Yeah, I was pretty starstruck

over the whole
astronaut thing.

Hi, Kelly, I'd like
to introduce you to one

of the first moonwalkers,
buzz aldrin.

It's a pleasure to meet you.
Thank you.

Enjoy.

That's very nice.

But you went to space camp.

I did go
to space camp, yeah.

That's exactly
why she was starstruck.

Um, Angelo,
mark wrote us and said,

"are you as arrogant
in your everyday life

as you are in the show?"

Wow.
Um...

Yeah, probably.
[laughter]

Actually, I never even
consider myself arrogant.

Um, I think I'm actually very
humble and gracious to people.

But that's my perspective.

Well, it was fitting
that the season was shot

in Washington, D.C.,
home of the CIA--

you cooked in the CIA--

because many people,
Angelo,

thought that you were
a master spy.

Watch this.

It is the Angelo show.

The winner is Angelo.

Angelo.
Angelo.

Once again, I feel
the eyes on me. Ha ha ha!

Angelo.
Angelo.

Angelo, he's just very
calculating in the kitchen.

He really is a smooth criminal.

Michael Jackson
ain't got nothing on him.

He doesn't really say much.

You just see him
watching people a lot.

I have a means
of assessing situations.

I'm not necessarily the dog
that just goes humps the leg,

I take a look
at which leg I want to hump,

and then I hump it.

[Laughter]
At the Chef house,

there's a little garden and
his little rock that he sits on.

We call it
the Angelo rock.

Oh, Angelo talks to himself
the whole time he cooks.

Should I do that?
Yeah.

And sometimes
I think he's talking to me,

but I don't think he is.

This stays
at room temperature, okay.

You're fine.

[Speaks french]

Did he just speak
to me in french?

[Speaks french]

He doesn't talk to himself
in English.

So I'm starting to wonder

if maybe he's a Russian spy.

[Laughter]

I think Angelo would make
a great spy.

'Cause he's really good
at getting close to people.

When I speak, I speak
the truth, you know, like...

Spies get people
to tell them stuff.

Is it one dish
or three different dishes?

No, it's one dish.
What are you getting?

Scallops.
What kind of container?

The apple cup
is the container.

Sounds good.

If anyone listens
to Angelo too much,

it could definitely backfire.

Key equipment
is the pressure steamer.

Is the horseradish
not strong enough?

More horseradish.
More.

A lot more.
Wait a little bit longer.

Just wait. It's gonna be
worth it. Trust me.

This is a competition,
you know.

It's a game.

Whatever I have to do to win,
that's what I'm gonna do.

What are you using for garnish?
Pickled onions.

I'd have given you a recipe
if you wanted to make it.

Are you really helping me?

No, she wants
to win this competition.

Or are you trying
to hurt me?

I love the man,
he's awesome,

talented Chef beyond belief,

but he's a Russian spy.

[Laughter]

Tara from el Paso, Texas
says,

"I thought Tamesha was going
the distance,

but I think
Angelo led her on to fail."

Got that a lot.
What do you think, Tamesha?

You know,
I got that a lot too,

and I don't think
Angelo led me on to fail.

The dish that I did

that sent me home
was 100% me,

and the judges didn't like it.

And that's what sent me home,
so...

Angelo,
it is a competition,

so why help people
at all?

Why not help people?
I want--

because you're competing
against them.

Sure, sure,
but I think

what's gonna get you
to the end is your talent,

not by me giving you
a tidbit here and there.

How many people think
that Angelo was sincere

in his helping?
You do. Yeah.

I do now.
I didn't then.

You do now.
Yes.

What made you come around?

At the end of the day,
everyone cooks their own food,

and everyone puts that dish
on the plate,

so it is that person.

The only thing
we have in common is food.

There is honestly
not much else to talk about.

Yeah.

Well, I know
that you're together 24/7,

and you guys may be
the biggest group of pranksters

to ever appear
on Top Chef.

Watch.

Usually, there's about three
or four practical jokes

going on
on any given morning.

What the [Bleep]
Is that?

Well, first, Stephen and I,
we just started tying

each other's shoelaces
in the mornings.

I was like, okay,
I really got to kick it up

another notch.

So he put plastic wrap
under the toilet seat.

So when Stephen goes
to the bathroom,

we know what happens.

Har, har,
hardy-har.

[Laughter]
ba*ls...

Hit the plastic wrap.

[Laughter]

He got scared.

[Laughter]

[Groans]

[Laughs]

I decided to take
that little plastic wrap

and wrap every single piece of
Angelo's clothing individually.

[Bleep].

[Laughter]

Okay. That's on.
It's on.

We took all of his knives,

put 'em in a pot like this,

put water,

and they're in the freezer.

[Laughter]

What the [Bleep]
Is this thing?

He didn't even notice
that those were his knives.

He gets me back,
he gets me back.

I ain't scared.

Oh, what is this?

What is that?

[Laughs]

He has taken
all of my belongings,

put 'em on my bed,

and plastic-wrapped it.

[Laughter]

It just puts perspective
of what we're doing of the day--

you know, brings humor.

Definitely,
we all need a laugh.

Here, I'll tuck you in.

[Laughter]

Oh, this is nice.

[Applause]

Who's the biggest prankster
in the group?

Angelo?

Angelo.
No, I think Alex.

I was thinking Alex.

Who's the easiest target?

Alex.
Alex.

Hands down, Alex.

[Laughter]

Okay, we're getting close
to the reveal

of the Top Chef: All-Stars cast,

but I want to test

your Top Chef trivia.

Which of you can name

all seven winners
of Top Chef in order

from the last seven seasons?

Who can do it?

All right,

our Top Chef
is gonna do it.

By the way,
if you get it right,

everybody here
is going to receive

the suite of Top Chef
quickfire wines,

available at quickfirewines.Com.

So everybody is counting
on you to get this right.

Starting from season one.
Come on, baby.

Season one: Harold.

Ilan.

Hung...

Chicago, Stephanie.

Yes.
Um...

I can think...
Hosea.

Mike.
And then myself.

[Cheers and applause]

Give him a round of applause,
everybody.

[Applause]

Everybody here is gonna get
all five varietals

of Top Chef quickfire wine,

so you can thank
your Top Chef Kevin.

Yeah, baby! Thanks, kev.
Part of the job.

Now Kevin has told us
the names

of all of the winners
of Top Chef.

None of them will be competing
on Top Chef: All-Stars.

That's reserved for people
who made it

this close to the title,

but didn't win.

And after this,
we're gonna find out the cast

of Top Chef: All-Stars.

We'll be right back.

'Cause he's campaigning.

I think Kenny.

Let's see who it is.

We're back
with the Chefs and judges

from Top Chef: D.C.

Tune in tomorrow night
to watch what happens live

to find out
which of these Chefs will be

your fan favorite.

I'm curious who you all think
will win fan favorite

this season.

Amanda?
Arnold, because

he's campaigning.

[Laughter]

It's not me
that's campaigning,

it's my sister.

Anybody else?
I think Kenny.

You think Kenny?

People ask me about him

all the time.

Kenny, who do you think?

Um, I think
it's gonna be Tiffany.

Why?

Just, you know, seeing her
smile, seeing her skill set,

I think that everyone's
gonna be able to relate to her.

Everyone's gonna stay connected,
as, you know,

the, you know,
challenges go on.

Okay.
Now it's time to reveal

the Chefs that will compete in
our first-ever all-star season.

It's Top Chef eight
in New York.

It's gonna premiere
December 1 on bravo.

Competing from season one:
San Francisco,

Stephen asprinio...

Obviously, you're a tool
and a d*uche bag.

You will not succeed,
and you will fail.

And tiffani faison.

I know you're not an idiot.

That's why I would expect you
to be done

by the time the timer goes off.

Tiffani, of course,
a finalist.

From season two:
Los Angeles,

we've got elia
and marcel.

And I'm like,
"yo, man, whatever.

I don't even get stressed."

Season three
in Miami,

it's Dale levitski,

Casey Thompson,

and tre wilcox.

Whoa.

Season four: Chicago,

it's Richard blais...

I'm more modern inside.

I usually like to kind
of deconstruct things.

Dale talde...

[Bleep]!

Ooh.

Antonia lofaso

and spike mendelsohn.

The vanilla!

[Giggles]

Season five:
New York--

fabio viviani...

All of you
looks absolutely beautiful.

Carla hall...
Hootie.

Hootie.

And Jamie Lauren.

It's kind of intimidating.

Season six:
Las Vegas--

Jennifer carroll...

Let's talk about food
and focus on this.

And Mike Isabella.

I'm [Bleep] Real, doggie.

Finally,

from this season,
Top Chef: D.C.,

two of you are competing.

Let's see who it is.

Angelo and Tiffany
will represent

Top Chef: D.C..

[Applause]

How do the two of you feel?

You've just ended this season,

and you're going right into it.

Tiffany?

I'm definitely ready

for a second chance.
Angelo?

I'm not gonna get sick
this time.

[Laughs]
Who are you

most scared
of competing against?

I'm not scared
of anybody.

I think that everyone
that's competing

is pretty freakin' good.
Who do you think's gonna be

the stiffest competition?
Put it that way.

Dale talde,
and I would say

Richard for his technique
and flavor.

Judges, you know everybody.

You've judged their food.

What are your impressions
of this lineup?

It's an interesting lineup

because most of the Chefs
were either in the finale

or could have very easily
made it to the finale.

Some of 'em got tripped up
early on.

I mean,
tiffani wins season one

if she does one menu
as opposed to two.

If you remember
back to season one,

she chose to do
two tasting menus.

I think if she actually
just did one,

she probably would have won
the competition.

It's a tough group.

I expect all of them
to be very competitive.

Gail,
what are your...

If I had to handpick
the cast myself,

I would have picked
these exact same people.

Jennifer also,
she'll do really well.

I'm definitely rooting
for her

since she's working for me
in Philadelphia.

Padma?

I think Richard
is a very strong contender.

But they're all
very talented,

and they're all
so different.

With the exception of Kenny,
I think tre,

interestingly enough,
was like the biggest upset

we'd ever had
on the show.

I'm interested to see

what tre does
when he comes back,

gets another chance.

I'm also curious
about marcel,

because marcel was very much
into molecular

and new techniques
and so on.

So I would like to see
how he has evolved

since that season
in Los Angeles.

Very good. Well, best of luck,
Tiffany and Angelo.

Both: Thank you.

Congratulations to you,
kevin,

On a great season.
Thank you.

Congratulations
to all of you.

What a great season.

And we will see you
on Top Chef: All-Stars.
