this new adventure.
congratulations -- well, then,
who better to judge
jonathan and fernanda than
an official judge
in north carolina,
so let's talk about
this fight,
maybe you'll overrule it.
we've got fernanda screaming
at jonathan in a parking lot.
do you guys think
she overreacted?
i think, um, you know,
from her perspective
and the way that she saw
the encounter,
you know, i think the heat
of the moment kinda got to her,
and yes, i think
she did overreact some.
i think that's a side effect
of her youth and her age.
um, the better way to handle
that situation was obviously
not to start a semi-fight
in the club,
but i think that when she saw
that, um, all the emotion
just hit her kinda raw.
that's right -- well,
i wanna ask you,
do you actually think
that her age is sort of --
or maybe a lack of maturity
is a big part of, uh,
maybe the issues
between her and john?
um, i do, and i think
it's on both sides, though.
um, jonathan is not perfect.
neither is fernanda.
no one is -- we're all human.
and some of the jealousy
has been on both sides
that we've been able to see
throughout their relationship,
too.
really? has jonathan --
uh, stephen, i wanna ask you --
have you seen jonathan get
jealous of the attention
that fernanda gets?
yeah, well absolutely.
i mean, i think that they both
draw attention from,
you know, the opposite sex
respectively,
so also, i think in the pressure
situation that they're in
with this 90 days, i think
there's a lot more to it
than just that situation --
i think that's indicative
of the larger issues
that they have of trying
to learn to trust somebody
in such a short experience time
of learning to --
how to deal with situations
when you haven't lived
around each other,
when you haven't been together
with each other
for that long of a time,
so i think that's just,
you know, a small piece,
it's a microcosm
of the larger experiment.
yeah, for sure -- you know,
when you put it that way,
i didn't even think about it,
for a girls who's 19
than someone who's, like,
that's half her life.
um, do you think fernanda --
like, has john ever
cheated on past girlfriends?
has this been an issue
in past relationships?
um, i don't know if he's ever
cheated on past girlfriends.
you know -- their relationships
have just kinda ended,
but jonathan was always
a bachelor.
that's, um, who he was,
that's how we've known him
for many years,
but what jonathan now
is with fernanda is totally
different from the jonathan
that we've seen
in the last decade.
okay.
we've never seen him
so attentive to someone
to really just care about
their feelings
and if they're happy
or if they're sad
and really put forth the effort
to be open emotionally
and honest about things
in the past,
and that's something that
i know is hard for him,
and i think he's made
a big effort to improve
upon that to kinda get
fernanda to trust him faster
right.
than you would, say,
in a normal relationship.
so john wasn't so much
a hit it and quit it?
he was like a hit and --
like, was he --
what was his style?
he would just hook up
with a lot of girls? he never
had a real girlfriend before?
well, i mean, i think that
jonathan got a lot of --
a lot of attention
from a lot of girls,
and, you know, jonathan
was a bachelor.
he -- he had fun, i mean,
there's no question
- about that, you know, so...
- now, when she --
when she pulled that thong out,
let me ask you this --
she opens this creaky drawer,
it looked like something
from the ikea in the 1920s,
and she fishes out
this used thong.
uh, was she right
to get upset?
angelica, if stephen --
if you found a thong
in one of stephen's
old malm dressers,
would you, uh, be upset?
i would be lying to the public
if i said that i would
open it and go,
"oh, looky there!
sweetie, what's going on here?"
yes, i think any female
would be just absolutely upset.
of course.
i mean, especially considering
she's 19,
she's here in this new country,
and her first experience
is something of that nature,
um, and it's very,
you know, easy for us
as adults and folks
that are a little bit older
with more life experience
to say, "hey, you know,
he has a past.
"he's a little bit older
than you. these are things
you need to think about."
that's not gonna happen
with a 19-year-old
in the heat of the moment,
for sure.
and, quite frankly, some adults
who open a drawer and find
something like that
from a previous relationship.
i know, and she --
she can't even drink.
like, she can't even get mad and
have, like, a wine, you know?
she just has to
soak it all up sober.
my last question for you guys --
do you see
this relationship working?
where do you see it going
in the long run?
well, so, you know,
i think that, like we said,
that jonathan is legitimately
a totally different person
around fernanda -- i think that
a lot of what's happened --
well, some if it's, you know,
very tough to deal with,
but i think a lot of it's
pressure on both sides,
but i think,
from what we've experienced,
they really,
really love each other,
they really care
about each other.
we want them to succeed.
we're excited about it.
and we're really excited
about them being in lumberton
in our home town, a place,
which we'd just like to say
is amazing, and, uh --
well, i don't know --

passed away...we helped
each other out,
and i helped him go to college,

larissa has caused

so how would you describe
your relationship with her?
larissa and i have
our ups and downs.
we go back and forth.
she's really a wonderful
person, she really is.
i want the best
for her and colt.
um, she's really fun
when you get to know her.
i'm actually really surprised,
because on the show,
you guys really butt heads
quite a bit,
so this is sort of a change.

in fact, larissa's the one
that colored my hair.

for you to, like, welcome
this new person into your home
with colt?
well, larissa tries
to press your buttons.
you know, like the couch deal.
she wanted the couch.
my theory was,
they're not married,
if they break up,
why should he be stuck
with a couch
that he may not like?
so i think he should put
his two cents in.

i get it -- i think that's
really smart.
it's not a wedding ring.
