Water, air, and sun.
The sun's real important.
Plants use the sun's energy
To make their own food.

Girl: too bad scientists haven't figured out
How people can eat the sun's energy to make their own food.

That's right.

Girl: so let me get something straight.
We know that plants don't need soil for food.
What do they need soil for?
Soil provides other things, like minerals the plant needs to grow.
[Grunts]
And it gives a plant a place for its roots to anchor it to the ground.
Uhh!
