He had Franki Fly in his big ol' chompers.

Well, I wasn't about to let him eat
my favorite doll now, was I?
I knew I had to think on the fly.
So I kicked off my shoes
and flung 'em into the river.
Whoa! [chuckles]
Must be the crocodile story again.
[Great Aunt Rose] The splash
distracted the croc enough
for me to grab Franki Fly out of his mouth
but not before he ate her parachute.
-[Rosie] Wow!
-[Ada gasps]
-Yikes.
-Oh my gosh!
And that is the story
of how Franki Fly lost her parachute.
Even without it, she's still
the coolest doll I've ever seen.

-To make sure it's safe for Franki Fly.

I don't wanna break her. So what do we do?
Maybe we could find a test object
to use in place of the doll.
Yeah! Like a crash test dummy.

that's not a very nice word.
[giggles] A dummy's something scientists
use to test how safe stuff is for humans.
Like cars.

Or in our case, we'll test
how safe a parachute is for a doll.
Great Aunt Rose's favorite doll.

Well, he's way bigger
and heavier than a doll.

Franki Fly is small,
so our test dummy should be too.

that we won't get in trouble for breaking?

The parachute fell way too fast.

there wasn't enough air resistance.

parachutes need a lot of that.

I know I have something about that

That's a force that pushes against
the moving object, like a parachute,
to slow it down.
But if air goes through the holes,
there's probably not much resistance.

then there'll be more air resistance
and it'll fall slower. Let's test it.

This parachute is sure to have
more air resistance than the last one.

Drop it like it's hot, Iggy.

-[all sigh]

There wasn't enough resistance,
but the parachute didn't have holes.
Maybe to create more air resistance,
we need more parachute?

We've gotta catch Franki
before she blows away!

That's it. Come to me, Franki.

[sighs] I promised Great Aunt Rose
I'd take care of Franki Fly,
and instead I lost her favorite doll.
We can still save her.

Yeah! Remember when the crocodile
was about to eat Franki Fly?
-Great Aunt Rose didn't give up.
-[Rosie] You're right.
Great Aunt Rose would never let
anything bad happen to Franki Fly,
and neither will I!
We might not be able to control the wind,
but we can follow it. Come on!

I wish there was a way
to make her fall faster to the ground.
[gasps] There is!
We can make a hole in the parachute
to decrease the air resistance.
-[Iggy] It's too high to reach.
-[Rosie] We have to think on the fly.
I love when she goes
into engineering mode.

Ooh, a slingshot? Genius.
[Rosie] Ready.

Parachute!

-Perfect shot!
[Iggy groans]

before she hits the ground.

to take the snow-fort lab
to the coldest planet
in the solar system, Neptune.
Bonus! Neptune looks
like a jawbreaker. Yum!

[muffled] A little help, guys?
[giggles] Just need a little warm water.
[Rosie grunts and sighs]
But we'd have to go all the way to Neptune
to get into our snow-fort lab.
Uh, what about a giant fridge?

Or maybe a freeze ray? Or popsicles?

Oh, man. I'm so stressed,
I can't think straight.
[groans]
You all might wanna check on your fort.
It's in pretty rough shape.
[all gasp]

while we were inside.

Aw. Why can't the sun just stay put?

so it's always moving.
Maybe Rosie was right,
and we should just forget
about the snow-fort lab today.
No! It's the last snowy day.
And I was gonna add a second floor
and lookout towers.
We have to save it.
-[Rosie] Iggy, wait up!

but, maybe this is an exception?

This one's about to cave in.

and Rosie's engineering was perfect.

It's like a dragon breathed its hot breath
all over our beautiful snow-fort lab.
Wait! Maybe not hot dragon breath,
but a warm air front.
That's a warm air mass
that replaces a cold air mass
that creates big changes
in the temperature.
That can change anytime because of winds,
storms, and air masses called "fronts."
How does that work?
Let's put on our imagination caps.
This is Ada Twist with the weather.
We're in a cold front, folks.
[all shiver]
Oh, I'm cold!
But this just in.
A warm front is headed our way.
Sometimes when my mom
runs into fronts when she's flying,
she has to change course. Like now!
[all yell]
So your mom pivots.

Just like Arthur's practice!

-[Ada] Look out!
[all yell]

Too bad I didn't have a plan B.
