How, what, where, why?
What, where, why?
How, what, where, why?
What, where, why?
Ada Twist, scientist
She's gonna find out what the answer is
Under here, over there
Science is everywhere you look
With Iggy Peck, architect
And Rosie Revere, engineer
So much to do
And you can help too
A mystery, a riddle, a puzzle, or a quest
There are wonders to discover
And hypotheses to test
Science is the best
Ada Twist, scientist
She's gonna find out what thе answer is
Everywherе science is
She's forming a hypothesis
Connecting polka dots
'Cause this is scientist Ada Twist!
"Ready, Set, Rosie."
Whoa!
I love when the grass
is slippery after it rains.
Whoa.
Heya team. Happy race day.
-Hey Rosie.
-You scared me.
What do you think?
It's lightweight but sturdy, glittery,
and has super-smooth tires
to make it go extra fast.
It's incredible.
But I think it's still
missing a couple things.
-What?
-A horn for safety.
And a unicorn horn for style.
Now it's perfect.
Thanks for being the best race crew ever.
Anytime.
We know this is a big day for you.
It's giganti-mongous.
I've been begging Great-Aunt Rose
to let me race with the Riveters forever.
And this year she finally said I can drive
in the Raucous Riveters Reunion Race.
Where are the Raucous Riveters?
How's the view from back there?
Wow, they're such pros.
Hi Great-Aunt Rose,
Miss Eleanor, and Miss Marian.
Ada, Iggy.
What do you think?
Ready to race with the big dogs?
I was born ready. Let's go.
Whoa.
Hold your horsepower, Rosie Racer.
We gotta do a few more test runs.
Yeah, we wanna make sure
our cars are driving as smooth as butter.
And fast.
If we're gonna steal the show from Rose,
we need lots of speed.
Nobody's beat me in years.
Come at me, gals.
-Maybe you should do a test run.
-I should.
We'll help you.
She's picking up speed.
I'm the fastest girl in the world.
Whoa.
Rosie! What happened?
I don't know. Probably just a weird fluke.
Let me try again.
Whoa.
Uh-oh.
I don't know what's wrong,
but I can't race
in a car that won't stay on the track.
There's gotta be a way to figure this out.
I'm the fastest Riveter
this side of the Mississippi.
-Not for long.
-I'm ready for my solo victory.
-We should ask them for help.
-They might know what's wrong.
No way. I want to prove
I can be on the race track with them,
so I need to do this without their help.
Let's get on the fast track
to a brainstorm.
What could be wrong with this car?
What if you accidentally built
a robo-car that has a mind of its own?
Maybe I did build a robo-car.
Only one way to know for sure.
That's robot for, "Anyone in there?"
No answer. It's not a robo-car.
What else could it be?
Maybe something's wrong
with the track and not the car.
If giant moles
are digging tunnels under it,
all that rumbling
could make a car slide off.
-Yikes.
-Oh man.
They're not having any problems.
Then no moles are digging tunnels.
Are you sure we can't
ask the Riveters for help?
I gotta do this without them.
But you're right,
they're going really fast.
I think I have a "hypothesises."
A "hypotheseesee."
A "hypothesis."
You know I love a good hypothesis.
What is it?
If my car is faster,
then it'll make the turn faster
and won't spin off the track.
Sounds like we've got some testing to do.
Loading the lab.
Whoa. Sweet thingamajiggy.
It's called a simulation,
so we can test the car safely from the lab
but it'll feel like racing on the track.
I programmed it
so it has a wet road like the real thing.
I designed it to look like
the simulations pro racers use,
but I added glitter to "Rosie-fy" it.
I love the attention to detail.
Now we gotta focus
on the most important detail,
making my car super-fast.
There's gotta be something
in Big Book of Discoveries and Inventions
about speed.
Here are some things that go super-fast.
Cheetahs,
Olympic sprinters,
and rockets.
But cheetahs belong in the wild,
not on a race track.
True, and Olympic sprinters
are probably training.
So rocket boosters it is.
Ready for launch.
Whoa.
Now I'm really
the fastest girl in the world!
No! Slid off the track again.
The finish line's down there.
This is a car-tastrophe.
Maybe I'm not ready to race
with the Riveters after all.
I give up
I can't do it, gonna quit
Can't get through it, hit a wall
It's so impossible
When all I see are obstacles
Afraid I'm gonna fail and so I quit
There's no use in trying
There's no way that we can win
Don't give up, don't give in
Gotta get right back up and try again
Mistakes can be lucky breaks
A happy accident along the way
Don't give up, don't give in
Maybe you'll make failure your best friend
And try, try, try
Gotta get up and try again
-Don't give up. You're a great engineer.
-And a super-duper racer.
Not super-duper enough
to race with the Riveters.
Where ya going, champ?
The race is about to start.
I can't race.
My car slides off the track when I turn
and I don't know how to fix it.
Why didn't you just ask us for help?
Because you're all expert racers,
and I didn't wanna feel
like a total beginner around you.
Every expert was a beginner at one point.
Even us.
Not I. I was always a star.
Oh, fine.
I didn't finish my first three races
because my car kept falling apart. Tragic.
I didn't wanna start racing
'cause I was afraid of losing.
But guess what?
I've lost tons of times,
and I'm still a boss.
Get 'em girl.
Really? You weren't always pros?
-No.
-No way.
You gotta start somewhere,
and that's at the beginning.
I guess you're right.
And I guess my friends were right too.
I shoulda asked for help sooner.
Sorry guys.
-It's okay.
-I know what I've gotta do now.
Riveters, will you help me with my car?
-For sure.
-Alright gals, full point inspection.
Oh, I'd give the steering wheel
a ten out of ten.
The brakes are flawless.
This is some top-notch engineering, Rosie.
I'm proud of you.
Whoa now.
These tires are slipperier
than a salmon swimming upstream.
Yeah, so they'll go super-fast.
Well, we found the problem.
You don't want
slippery tires on wet ground.
Sliding's great when going down
a ride at a water park,
but not when you're racing.
You want friction
to keep you on the track.
I've heard that before.
Friction, a force that acts
in the opposite direction of motion.
Does that mean the more friction,
the harder it is for an object to move?
-Yep.
-I don't want my car to be hard to move.
I want it to go really fast.
It's a race, remember?
Water creates less friction
between the tires and the road,
so the car slides around.
You don't want that.
So I have to dry off the whole track?
That's a lot of work.
No, lil' boss,
you just need tires like ours.
Yours are bumpy.
Mine are smooth.
These bumps are called treads.
They pull the water away from the tires
so they can grip onto the road.
That'll keep you
from sliding off the track.
That's easier than drying the track.
So you want us
to help you pick out new tires?
I think we can handle it.
But if we have any questions,
we'll definitely ask.
Nice tires. Looks like you're ready
to race with the big dogs.
Thanks to all of you.
-Have fun.
-See ya on the track.
Welcome to the annual
Raucous Riveters Reunion Race.
Drivers, get ready, get set,
and go!
Pedal to the metal.
Man, I'm racing with the Riveters.
Alright tires,
let's see how much friction you got.
Friction for the win.
-She did it.
-Go Rosie.
Victory!
-Great.
-You drove like a pro.
Brava, Mademoiselle Rosie.
You had some, how do the kids say it,
"sick moves" out there.
Thanks.
I just wish that I didn't finish last.
Oh, but you did finish.
You couldn't
pass the first turn this morning.
Look how much
you've improved in just one day.
You're right. I got a lot better.
You'll keep getting better every time.
You'll be so good by next year's race,
maybe you'll even win.
Yeah, and it's already a win
getting to race with the Riveters.
I can't wait
to learn even more from the pros.
I know a great way to teach you.
Let's hit the road.
Yeah.
Come get me, Riveters.
"A Wheel with a Twist."
Kee-ya. Or should I say kee-yum?
That's for the ice cream.
Oh, right.
Hey, what're you kids up to?
Making chocolate razzle ice cream
for Nassan.
Nassan loves ice cream,
but what's chocolate "rabble"?
Chocolate "razzle".
Chocolate ice cream with graham crackers,
pretzel pieces, and cotton candy.
I invented it.
But plain chocolate's amazing.
Adding the razzle
is like reinventing the wheel.
We would never.
A wheel is a perfect piece of engineering.
"Reinvent the wheel" means,
if something's perfect, why change it?
But you can improve an invention
without losing what makes it great.
-Scientists do it all the time.
-Yeah.
Like the telephone.
When our parents were kids--
Back in the dark ages.
They could only call people from a phone
inside their house attached to a wall.
But with cell phones,
you can call anyone from anywhere.
But chocolate ice cream
is already perfect.
We'll see about that.
How long must we wait?
After we start cranking, 20 minutes.
Forever.
-Ada, Arthur, look who's here.
-Nassan!
High-five.
Hi Auntie Nadine. Hey-hey, buddy.
And you two must be Iggy and Rosie.
Call me Auntie Nadine.
-Hi Miss Ada's Auntie Nadine.
-Hi.
Nice to meet you both.
Can I put you on pinwheel duty?
Yes ma'am.
I'll keep Nassan's favorite toy safe.
-His tablet's here. Lunch is at--
-At 12:30.
I got this, sis.
Time to start
your well-deserved relaxation day.
-Come on.
-Thanks, girl.
Bye kids. See ya.
-Bye Auntie
-Bye.
Alright, I have to feed Lil' Liz.
Later, buddy. High-five?
Awesome.
-I like to spin.
-Yeah, me too.
Why did he run away?
Well, he acts different than other kids
because he has autism.
What's autism?
His brain is different
than mine and yours.
He understands and experiences things
in a way we don't.
-Like, Nassan doesn't talk.
-So how do you guys communicate?
Through his tablet.
He presses buttons and the tablet speaks.
-You press thumbs down for no.
-No.
Or building blocks for play.
-Play.
-This is the food section.
So the tablet's kind of like his voice?
Mind blown.
Having friends who are different is cool.
Let's play with him.
When you get close to him,
tell him what you're doing first.
-Sure.
-You got it.
Hey Nassan, feel like a dance party?
I'm Rosie Revere and I like to rock
and roll.
Oh yeah.
-What happened?
-Is Nassan okay?
Deep breaths, hon.
Don't worry,
Nassan just needs a brain break.
-He'll be back when he feels better.
-I hope it's soon.
Me too. Sorry, Ada.
It's okay, you didn't mean it.
Come on, let's check on the ice cream.
Well that was a flop,
and I thought everybody loved dancing.
Nassan likes dancing,
but when he has to take in a lot of sounds
and pictures at the same time,
his brain can hurt.
Like a brain freeze from ice cream?
Kinda.
The music and the rocks knocking together
likely overwhelmed his brain.
He can't control how he reacts.
Do all kids with autism do that?
Good question.
You know how rainbows
are a spectrum of light and color?
Yeah. Rainbows are my thing.
Well, just like rainbows,
people with autism are on a spectrum.
They don't look or act the same,
just like how we're different.
-Makes sense.
-Now I get it.
I hope my chocolate razzle
makes Nassan's brain feel good.
Almost ready. We need more ice.
I'll get some.
-Ada, watch out!
-Pinwheel.
Oh no. I broke Nassan's favorite toy
and Auntie Nadine put me in charge of it.
He's going to be so sad.
Not if he never knows.
We can fix it before he comes back.
Rosie's right. We are scientists.
-Right. We've gotta move fast.
-I can figure out the engineering.
Perfect. Loading the lab.
Scissors.
Tape.
Glue.
Thanks Iggy.
We have a problem.
What's wrong?
We're missing
what holds the pinwheel together.
Uh-oh.
Let's look for it in the backyard.
Can't find it anywhere.
I can't believe I broke Nassan's pinwheel
and we can't fix it.
Uh-oh. Nassan's back.
He's gonna want his pinwheel.
What are we gonna do?
Nassan likes to check out how his food
feels and smells before eating it,
so it takes a while. We have time.
Yes!
Chicken nugget.
Eat.
-Grandma's on the phone. I'll stay.
-Thanks sweetie. Y'all have fun.
Okay guys, we need to razzle and dazzle
in a brainstorm.
Brainstorm, brainstorm
Throw in every thought you've had
No idea is ever bad
Brainstorm, brainstorm
Gather up your friends and try
To find the how, the what, the why
Brainstorm, brainstorm
Let our imaginations
Become great new creations when we
Brainstorm, brainstorm
Brainstorm, brainstorm, hey!
I have an idea.
We could plant an epic garden
with pieces from Nassan's old pinwheel.
With a big ice cream fountain
in the middle of it.
But a garden like that
would need a specialty gardener.
True. And there's only a few of them
in the whole world.
Whoa!
We could sprinkle unicorn dust
on the pinwheel. It can heal anything.
But we'd need
the approval of the Unicorn Council,
and that takes a long time.
We don't have time to wait
for the council to make a decision
and make ice cream
before Nassan has to go home.
Wait. Ice cream, chocolate razzle, Iggy.
You're reinventing chocolate ice cream
to make chocolate razzle.
What if we reinvent Nassan's pinwheel?
And make pinwheel razzle.
That made more sense in my head.
Yeah, sort of.
If reinventing stuff is about improving it
and keeping what makes it great,
we can make a better pinwheel for Nassan.
Yeah. Like, it's colorful,
but we can add more colors.
And it spins in the wind,
but I can design one
that spins in no wind.
We could call it a spin-wheel.
-Genius.
-Love it.
But how do we make it spin by itself?
Wind turbines.
Their design is so cool,
and they turn wind into electricity.
Wind-erful idea, Iggy.
Let's check 'em out.
Whoa, they look like giant pinwheels.
Uh-huh. Looks like the blades
catch the wind and spin like a pinwheel.
Wind turns the blades around,
spinning a generator
to create electricity.
Cool, but how does wind electricity work
when there's no wind?
Batteries. They store the wind power
that lets us use the electricity later.
Fascinating.
Let's design a spin-wheel.
Spin-tastic.
And it's done.
-Wow.
-It's beautiful.
Nassan just finished eating.
I really hope he likes it.
Hey Nassan, we made you
a new toy called a spin-wheel.
Wanna try it?
-Yes.
-Perfect.
See this button?
Press it to make your spin-wheel
spin when it's not windy.
I think he likes it.
Whoa. How'd you make
the pinwheel spin with no wind?
We put a battery on it
that stores wind energy.
You could say we reinvented the pinwheel.
I have to hand it to you, that's awesome.
Speaking of reinventing wheels,
the ice cream!
Man, it's melted.
I really wanted
to make chocolate razzle for Nassan.
We still can, and Nassan can help.
Will cranking the ice cream
overwhelm Nassan's brain?
He can do things we can do,
he just needs us to be patient.
See?
-Yeah buddy!
-You got it.
It's done.
Here you go.
Yes! He likes the chocolate razzle.
Nassan might not be ready to go home yet.
They got him with the ice cream.
Like Mama always said,
it does take a village.
-Uh-huh.
-You can say that again.
You can improve on chocolate ice cream
'cause this is the business.
Want some?
-Yes please.
-Don't mind if I do.
Hey Nassan, high-five?
Nassan doesn't just high-five anyone.
You're his friends now.
I love this ice cream. Thank you.
