I can't wait to get out

there.

Skating looks like so much fun!

I'll just need a sec to lace

up my skates and we'll give the

ice a try.

Lisa, look at that girl

spinning around and around.

Wow!

That's called a camel spin.

Mom taught me the names of all

the spins when we were watching

champion skaters on TV last

week.

That girl must be a champion

skater.

I've always wanted to see one!

Well, you never know, Cordy.

Maybe we can be champion skaters

too!

[Skates scratching ice]

ANNOUNCER: What a beautiful

spiral, oh my goodness!

And that split jump done with no

problemo!

She really got some height on

that one!

Here's Lisa's trademark

corkscrew spin...

Whoa!

How can she spin like that

without getting dizzy?

[Audience clapping]

Thank you, thank you!

The judges are ready to

deliver Lisa's marks.

[Crowd cheering]

ANNOUNCER: Look at that!

Three perfect sixes!

Lisa is the new figure skating

champion of the world!

[Cheering]

Now don't forget your scarf.

If it's chilly enough for water

to turn into ice, it's chilly

enough to catch a cold.

Okay mom.

Whoa!

My skates are kind of wobbly.

Moving on skates for the

first time can seem pretty

strange.

Do you remember the first

time you tried on skates?

[Laughing]

Of course I remember!

It wasn't that long ago!

[Giggling]

Oh yeah.

Okay Cordy, ready to try

skating?

Ready!

[Skates scratching ice]

Whoa!

Gotcha!

That was a close one.

Guess I'll have to get used

to how slippery the ice is

before I can do spins and jumps,

huh?

That's right, one step at a

time.

Look, we're skating!

Remember to keep your knees

bent.

That's it!

[Corduroy humming]

[Skates scratching ice]

Okay mom.

I think I wanna try it by

myself.

Already?

You've got your balance?

Uh-huh.

Okay, keep close to the edge

of the rink.

You can grab on to the railing

if you need to.

Oh no!

[Thudding]

[Giggling]

Are you alright?

Yup, don't worry mom.

I can do it by myself.

Are you sure?

I'm sure.

I'm going to let go now.

Alright then, hon.

I'll be right there if you need

me.

You okay back there?

Yeah, but if you fall again,

try not to fall backwards and

squish me, okay?

Okay.

[Skates scratching]

Whoa!

[Thudding]

Do you need any help?

I'm okay, thanks.

I just slipped.

She's a way better skater than

me and I'm even older than she

is.

Come on, let's skate again!

Well alright, but I'm getting

tired of falling.

The ice is hard...and cold.

That's my girl!

One step at a time.

Keep going, keep going!

Oh we're so far away from the

benches!

Ah!

Look out!

[Screaming]

Duck!

[Grunting]

Got it!

Phew.

[Panting]

Did we make it, Lisa?

You can open your eyes,

Cordy.

We're back on the benches.

Lisa, you were really skating

well for awhile.

Are we going back on the ice?

Why are you taking your

skates off?

I don't feel like skating

anymore.

I'm, um, I'm t-too cold.

Here, I brought an extra

sweater.

Thanks, but the, t-the rink

is too busy anyway.

You're not giving up already

are you?

You know what they say.

'If at first you don't succeed,

try and try again'.

Yeah, but every time I try, I

fall.

I'm sure if you kept

practicing, you'd be a fine

skater one day.

Don't give up, Lisa.

You might not fall next time you

try.

Well I'm not giving up on

you, but how does a hot

chocolate sound in the meantime?

Sounds good.

Thanks, mom.

No more skating?

No more skating.

[Traffic horns sounding]

[Sighing]

What do you wanna do?

I don't know.

[Cat meowing]

[Laughing]

Did you see that?

See what?

That!

That funny, roll-y thing!

That's called a somersault.

Somersault?

I wish I could do a somersault.

It's a cinch.

I'll show you.

Ta-da.

A somersault!

Whoa, I wanna do one!

[Grunting]

Ah!

[Laughing]

Good try, Cordy.

Now this time, try to start with

your head tucked down just a

little more.

Ta-da!

Whoa!

[Thudding]

Oops.

Corduroy!

Cordy, you okay?

[Muffled] Mmm hmm.

Now this time, how about a

little more, away from the

closet and closer towards the

bed.

[Grunting]

Well, not that close to the bed.

Try again!

There you go.

Okay.

[Cat meowing]

Sorry!

This is harder than it looked

when you and kit did it.

You can do it, I know you

can!

Imagine you're on top of a

great, big, grassy hill and

you're just rolling and rolling

like a rock down the hill.

Ready?

Steady?

BOTH: Somersault!

[Giggling]

BOTH: Whee!

[Grunting]

Okay, I know I can do it.

Just keep trying.

That's the spirit!

[Straining]

I did a somersault!

Ta-da!

Way to go, Corduroy!

I knew you could do it if you

kept trying!

Lisa...how come you didn't

keep trying at the skating rink?

I don't know.

I guess I just didn't think I

could do it.

That's funny, because I

didn't think I could do a

somersault, either.

Hmm.

Skates laced, check.

Mittens on, check.

Umm...scarf tied, check.

Come on then before the ice

melts into a pond.

Okay.

Ready?

You can do it, Lisa!

Ready!

Keeping my balance, bending my

I know I can.

That's it, Lisa!

You're doing great!

I'm doing it!

I'm skating!

You sure are!

Keep going hon!

[Giggling]

Phew.

Lisa you're catching on very

quickly.

I'm glad you decided to try

skating again.

Me too!
