04x12 - The Troubles

Post by bunniefuu »

Previously on New
York undercover.

- G, you still here?
- Dad.

I remember dad came home

but the wind was
knocked out of him.

One of his probies was k*lled.

Yeah. His men meant a lot to him

more than we do, apparently.

Don't go there, Paul.

Delany, you can't keep
running from whatever

it is you're running from
and getting lost undercover.

It's not healthy.

Did I say something wrong?

No, sweetie, you didn't.

Why are you interrogating
her like she's a suspect?

That girl is 16 years old.

Is there a problem with that?

I'll tell you this, right?

See, I got... no.

I feel this. Listen.

All right.

I got this list of
qualifications.

What is this, "qualifications"?

This is a date.

This isn't a job
application, bro.

Oh, okay. A man
like me shouldn't have

high standards?

All I'm saying is you
don't go out, right?

- No.
- Well, then.

Maybe you need
to not be so rigid.

So I need to lower my
standards for this woman,

- is that what you saying?
- Look at you.

Why you so nervous?

Why don't you just chill?

I'm not nervous.

You think I'm going

to set you up with a woman

you not going to get along with?

Whatever you do.
Whatever you do.

Right?

Don't be you.

Just learn

to relax and chill.

Okay, that's
encouraging. Thanks a lot.

If you don't mind my saying so,

you can be a
little self-absorbed.

So let Karen do the talking.

Uh, wait...

Just let, let her lead
the conversation.

Wait. I know how
to talk to a woman.

Mm-hmm, no problem.

Now, I got a question for
you, just out of curiosity.

Mm-hmm?

- If Karen is as fine..
- Yes, she is.

- As you say she is...
- She is.

- Beautiful.
- She bad, bro.

How come you ain't get her?

Oh, I did.

Whatever it takes, right?

[TV reporter] We
interrupt this broadcast

for a special news bulletin.

I'm in mid-town in front
of the British-owned

carriage house bank

where a few minutes
ago, armed gunmen

attempted a robbery
in the name of the ira.

Now, details are
sketchy at this hour

but what we do know is
that a silent alarm was tripped

cops responded and
trapped the men inside.

At this point, they
have taken hostages

and they're locked in a
tense battle with police...

Wow. Only three
blocks from here.

So far, they've refused.

If this is the work of
the ira, it would Mark

the first time they've brought
their fight to American soil

since the cease-fire was
agreed to in northern Ireland.

[Sirens wailing]

If they are t*rrorists

they have not given police

a list of demands.

Hostage negotiators like to have

that list of demands
before they...

Ethan, send out the
hostages unharmed

then we can talk, come
to an understanding.

Talking never got us anywhere!

- How many gunmen?
- Well I'm not sure,

but my instincts
tell me just the one.

Ethan's doing the talking,
but he keeps saying "we",

so I think he's talking
about his fellow countrymen.

What about the hostages?

Well, there's 11 employees,
and given the time

probably a handful of civvies.

Ethan, you made
your political statement

and given these
camera crews out here,

you probably made
the evening news.

Now, what kind of statements

you going to make if you hurt
innocent people here in the us?

People won't be
sympathetic, guy.

I'll send out four
people in good faith

but I want something

in return!

I want your government
to stop playing both sides!

Ethan, I'm not sure I understand

what you're saying, buddy.

When I see your president

admit on television the
British government has no right

occupying northern Ireland

and that they should
pull out immediately

only then will
everyone be released!

Otherwise, they're all dead!

This guy's a lunatic.
I can't do that.

Doesn't look like
you have a choice.

He's right.

Look, give him what he wants.

- Buy us some time.
- First rule

of hostage negotiations
is you don't make promises

you can't keep.
You guys know that.

We also know that
four is better than none.

Right?

Look, we'll come
up with something.

Trust me.

All right, Ethan,
you got a deal.

Send out the four,
and we'll deal, we'll talk.

- What?
- I think we have your t*rror1st.

What are you talking about?

What are you doing?

Look at that.

Turn around.

You move, I'm gonna blow
your head off. Don't move.

Oh-h*! What's this?

Ethan, right?

That's what I thought.

[Mid-tempo theme music]

Well, men, if it
weren't for you two

the four gunmen
would have walked

right through our lines
and just kept on walking.

Well, you know, we bad, baby.

Unfortunately, things like that

don't happen without consequence

ain't that right, lieutenant?

What do you mean?

Nothing, nothing.

Just a blind date I stood up.

Look, can we get
back to business, here?

Yeah, but I do
have one question.

I want to know how did you know

that they weren't
really the hostages?

Yeah, well, once
that idiot Ethan

started screaming how he
wanted to see the president on TV

we knew that wasn't
going to happen.

Plus, there was no trade-off.

We knew something was up.

The hostages were
in the bank vault.

It was a great piece of work

and that's why I feel very
confident giving you this case.

What case? We already got them.

But they're not talking.

They're claiming to
be political prisoners.

So they really are ira?

Ethan McManus, Timothy tirnan

Ann donlevy, Seamus mulane,

accused of robbery, bombing

and other assorted
acts of terrorism.

But all back in their
own country, right?

Which is probably
why they came here.

They'd have to be
extradited to be prosecuted.

Why not let england
deal with them?

Because I want to know

if they were acting alone

or is the ira up to
something bigger here.

What do you mean bigger?
They've got a cease-fire.

Yeah, but most cease-fires
erupt back into w*r.

Most extremists want
to keep on fighting.

They don't really
believe in compromise.

So when did you become
such an expert on the ira?

Are you kidding?

I come from a long line
of Irish catholic martyrs.

My father fed us the
rhetoric every night.

I grew up with it.

You also grew up
around that pro-ira bar.

Yeah.

That's where these
gunmen hung out

and I assume they're
not the only ones

so maybe you could check it out

and see if you come
up with any names.

Isn't that risky?

Hometown bar... Somebody
might know she's a cop.

No. I left home before
I joined the force.

- I could do it.
- You sure?

Yeah.

All right.

If anybody even gets close

You're wasting your time.

We know you

Have we found out

How about you?
Everything okay at the bar?

Anybody know you're a cop?

- I'm fine.
- Good.

Let it be known that you're

You try every way you
can to get into the ira

but be careful.

Those people play for keeps.

Understood.

All right.

Riley, me boy, a pint

Poor lads.

It's a downright travesty
what's happened to them.

That it is.

But robbing a bank
is no picnic in the park,

those boys did do wrong.

They shouldn't had to
have paid with their lives.

They was only making
a statement for Ireland.

Old habits are hard to break.

If they're starting
over, why Rob a bank?

They were doing
what they were told.

Who would tell them
to do such a thing?

I don't know, but they're here

to get another chance at life.

Think robbing a bank

was part of that plan?

I agree with her, Jimmy.

Sure as I'm standing here.

They were hardly
t*rrorists, detective.

Really? What
would you call them?

Misguided countrymen who
deserved a second chance.

We rushed over to a wooded area

where pieces of the wedding
dress were everywhere.

My brother and his wife

He stepped on a trip wire.

They say they never
knew what hit them.

Yeah? I was six,

when I saw my father getting
gunned down in the street

by those dirty catholic pigs.

Who are you calling pigs?

If it wasn't for you protestants

my brother would be alive!

We're not the ones who
started this. You were!

Okay, come on. Both
of you, settle down.

All right? Settle down.

Let's try and talk this out.

Can we do that?

Now, Mitch...

Molly didn't do anything
to hurt you personally.

Did she?

Did she?

And, Molly...

He didn't do
anything to you, either.

Am I right?

So this is the foundation
for us to work with

to create a lasting peace.

Now, can you
shake hands on that?

The foreign exchange program

at this school is the
model for all others.

That's why we
bring these kids here,

to a neutral ground, to
help them to understand

that just because you were
brought up to hate each other

that doesn't mean you have to.

The point being

if real peace is to take hold

it must begin with him

and with her.

So...

Here's to you.

Thank you.

Can you believe this guy?

No, I don't.

Puts on a good show.

Just going to
have to stay on him

until we run into
something concrete.

Hey, dad, what's up?

Hey, g.

I'll... I'll meet
you in the car.

Hey, young man.

Uh... I came, um...
To observe your class.

You're doing really well.

I'm happy to see that.

Right, dad, and
I'm six feet tall.

What are you doing here?

Um... don't say anything.

Seriously, I'm here
working on a case.

Do you want me to do

No, I don't want you
doing anything. Just... shh!

Hi, Mr. Williams.

Hey, richelle. How you doing?

Good to see you.

So, look, if I'm

Nina.

Hello, Ann.

Can we talk?

Same deal as before,

you help us, we help you.

Let's start with why
your friends got offed.

Don't tell me it's because
you tried to Rob a bank.

We know there's
more to it than that.

We also know you were bailed out

by the Ireland peace fund.

Why? What's the connection?

Talk to us, Ann.

Well, the fund knew
that if we got caught

we'd be able to tie them
in to t*rror1st activities.

That's why I came to you.

They wouldn't let
us get out alive.

Why not warn your friends?

I tried, but they
wouldn't listen.

They were so into the cause,

especially Ethan.

He never thought that the
fund would turn against us.

You the one's who smuggled
in the mp5s for them?

Look, they promised to set
us up with a new life here,

jobs and flats and everything,

if we cooperated.

But they lied to us.

They just used us.

They knew we were expendable.

They?

Or do you mean Percy Flanagan?

Is he the one who
k*lled your friends?

I don't know, Ann.

You don't answer
us, I start wondering

what it is you're feeding us.

Why should we
believe you at all?

Look, you don't understand.

Nobody goes up
against Mr. Flanagan.

That's why it took me so long

to come to you
in the first place.

Then help us nail him.

Now, we know he's
not covering his tracks

over smuggled g*ns.

What's he really doing?

I don't know, I swear.

Look, maybe it's something to do

with this electronics factory.

I don't know.

What electronics factory?

It's over in queens.

Most of the Irish kids

he brings over work there.

Really?

Can you get me in there?

We're not hiring.

A friend said you were.

What friend is that?

Flanagan's contact, Patrick.

Yeah, I come over last week.

He told me to look you up.

Said you'd help
get me on me feet.

What's your name?

Ian. Ian flannery.

Know how to
assemble hard drives?

Majored in computer science.

Okay. You get one chance
around here, flannery.

One screwup and then you're out.

Thanks a million.

And by the way,

unless you're assigned

this room, it's off limits.

- Good night, Riley.
- Good night.

Wait!

Go! Go!

[Grunting]

[Coughing]

I'm going to ask
you one more time.

Where is Ann donlevy?

I already told
you, I don't know.

You said she was safe.

You said you
knew that for a fact.

I lied.

Well, then you're dead.

Wait a minute. I lied
for a reason, okay?

I thought somebody'd be
looking for her, and I was hoping

it would be the ira.

Why wouldn't you think

your words would lure the brits?

That's what I'm
supposed to think,

the brits are retaliating

for the bank job,
but I know better.

I think the ira whacked them

because it was
embarrassing to the cause

and that Ann girl,
she was pretty smart.

She was lucky.

She got out.

Do you realize I'm an
American, just like you?

You keep saying ira.

But we're all Irish.

I mean... We all had loved ones

who were k*lled
by those b*stards

and that's why I
wanted to get in,

because I want to help.

Why should I believe you?

'Cause I risked my life
to get here, that's why.

What more do you need?

Look, whoever this Ann was

and whatever she
was doing for you,

maybe I can take her place.

I can find her for you.

Get rid of her.

Yes, stone did call.

He said Flanagan's
business does look legit

except one off-limits area
he's still trying to get into.

I'm a little more
concerned about Delaney.

She hasn't checked
in since last night.

She probably
worked until closing.

I'm sure she's fine.

Yeah, but it's just
taking too damn long.

I mean, we know that
Flanagan is our boy, okay?

But we got to catch him.

Find out what he's up
to before he kills again.

That sounds cool to
me, but what's the plan?

Well, I've got one idea.

We use Ann donlevy

as our bait to flush him out.

What? Lieutenant, are you crazy?

We're supposed
to be protecting her.

How long, moreno?

How long are we going
to protect her? A day?

A week? A year?

Look, he will hunt her down

eventually, okay?

Unless we catch him first.

He's right, you know.

I couldn't help but overhear.

Don't worry, Ann.

It's not going to happen.

No, it's okay.

I don't want to live like this

always looking over my shoulder.

I'm willing to help.

Are you willing to wear a wire?

Help us get Flanagan to confess?

Lieutenant, come on!

Moreno,

quiet.

Well, are you?

I'm in.

Okay.

Let's get started.

[Electronic beeping]

Oh, hi.

I hear you're going
back tomorrow.

Yeah.

I wish I could
stay a little longer.

Yeah, me, too.

I mean, you know

it's been cool having
you here and everything.

What's that?

This? Oh, just a video game.

You don't have these in Ireland?

I suppose we do.

We never have money
for things like that.

Here.

You can take mine.

Oh, I couldn't.

Oh, come on.

It's like a going away present.

I insist.

Hey.

Thanks, Gregory.

You're very sweet.

Please don't tell me I
saw what I think I saw.

What?

You just gave that girl

your favorite game.

That was nothing.

Yeah, just like your jacket.

It means nothing.

What did I do?

Are you mad at me?

[Door opens]

Miss donlevy?

I'm surprised

to see you here.

Yeah, I'll bet you are

Mr. Flanagan.

So, where have you been?

I have been worried
sick about you.

Trying to stay alive, actually.

I mean, it was just lucky

that I wasn't in the apartment

when Ethan and
the others were k*lled.

[Radio buzzing] Damn it.

Where's the signal?

You'd better talk fast.

This was the only way

I could prove my
loyalties, Mr. Flanagan.

How? By coming in
here wearing a wire?

No, by showing you
I'm still a valuable asset.

I know why you
had to k*ll the others.

It's 'cause they were stupid

and they didn't
understand the cause.

I can still help it.

I'm listening.

The line's dead.

Damn it. I knew this
was going to happen.

Wait. Where the
hell are you going?

She's been found out,
lieutenant. He'll k*ll her.

What are you
going to do, moreno?

You going to run in
there, g*n blazing?

Look, stone is inside.

Anything goes wrong

he'll let us know.

I made a mistake.

I know that.

That's why I got close

to one of the police
officers who interrogated me.

I tried to find out
what they knew

so I could tell you.

All right.

What do they know?

They know you're
responsible for the killings

but they can't prove it.

Not yet.

So they put an undercover
cop into your operation.

Is that a fact, now?

Uh, guys... Looks like we have

bigger problems now.

Delaney.

What's going on?

That's a good question.

Look, if she wanted
us to meet her

she would have signaled for us.

So what, we just
sit here and wait?

That's exactly what

we're going to do.

That's him.

His real name is stone.

You sure about this, Ann?

Can I trust you?

I wouldn't have come back

if you couldn't, Mr. Flanagan.

This is the girl I told
you about. Nell Delaney.

It's an honor to meet you

Mr. Flanagan.

Who's she?

Actually...

She's your replacement.

Why'd you do that?

Oh... so miss Delaney here

sees what happens when
I don't trust somebody.

Speaking of which

it appears we've been
infiltrated by the police.

The big guy working
at station four.

Take him down to the docks

see what he knows before
you k*ll him, would you, Chris?

Better yet,

have Nell, here, k*ll him.

Let's make sure she really
is who she says she is.

[Tires squealing]

[Grunts]

What's the matter?

[Groans] What's going on?

Nothing's going
on, detective stone.

That's right, pal.

Ann donlevy gave you up.

Now, what do you
think about that?

Huh?

Look, let's just talk
this thing out, okay?

Let's talk. Start
with what you know.

We'll go from there.

I don't know anything.

I just got under yesterday.

I guess we're through talking.

Hey, don't sh**t!

I'll tell you everything
you want to know.

Just don't sh**t.

Start talking.

Okay, look...

I saw the memory boards

and the microprocessors.

I figured

they're some kind of detonator.

That's all I know.

Well that's a lot.

Hey, hey, hey!

Look, look, listen.

Don't do this.

You don't want murdering a cop

on your list of charges.

Don't do this.

I'm not going to.

She is.

Take the g*n.

Go on, k*ll him.

Drop it now!

Put the g*n down.

You all right?

I'm fine.

You sure?

I don't need to see the shrink

if that's what you're asking.

How about you?

I could use that shrink.

Where's Ann?

Flanagan k*lled her.

- What?
- Right in front of me.

There was nothing I could do.

Before you get
teary-eyed, moreno,

that little b*tch is the
one that ratted me out

to get back on
Flanagan's good side.

So, she sold us out?

From the start, apparently.

What's this about a detonator?

Yeah. Flanagan is smuggling them

inside electronics

to get them past
British customs.

Marries them to
expl*sives there.

What kind of electronics?

It's got to be
something innocuous

like the boom box

that blew up the pan am.

Yeah, or someone
that custom agents

wouldn't be too suspicious of.

Wait a minute.

When is Flanagan
planning on sending

the students back?

- Let's go.
- Yeah, what about them?

They're fine.
Backup's on the way.

Let's go, guys! Move your butts!

Come on. Let's go!

[Applause]

It's been a week

Once again, I thank you.

[Applause]

Excuse me. Excuse me.

Excuse me.

Nell, what are you doing here?

I came to see you, Flanagan.

No time. I've got to...

I don't think so.

You're under arrest.

You're a cop?

And a witness to
Ann donlevy's m*rder.

Shouldn't be difficult
connecting you

with the rest of
the three, should it.

Not to mention

conspiracy to k*ll
a police officer.

All those detonators
you're producing.

Must be nice using those kids

to do your dirty work.

Down!

Get down!

Luck of the Irish, eh?

Stone, barker
went after Flanagan.

Did we find the detonators?

No, not yet.

Hey.

Sorry, kid.

Here, sorry.

What are you doing?!

Try that one.

That's a detonator.

Bingo.

Let me guess.

You're catholic.

We don't get to
take them with us?

That's a problem.

I knew this was a crock.

Look. Look, kids, I'm
sorry about your games.

What if I hook you up
with something better?

You guys like computers?

You can't get us computers.

Who says I can't
get you computers?

We won't be able
to take them with us.

That's not a problem.

I'll have them shipped.

Is that cool? Okay?

You guys like, what...
Macs, p.C.'S, a laptop?

Hey, hey, hey, little man.

[Listlessly] What's up?

What's with the long face, g?

Wait up. Wait up.

I know you not still
upset about the fact

that I didn't tell
you about this case.

Nah. I pretty much
figured that one out myself.

All right.

So, what's up?

It's just...

I mean,

everything that Flanagan said

about healing wounds.

All that was just bull?

I don't know
if I'd call it bull.

I think that he
used the right words

just the wrong motives.

That just goes to show you

how deeply hatred can affect you

if you don't deal with it.

Now I got to deal

with how much richelle hates me.

[Sighs]

I know richelle
doesn't hate you, g.

Dad, she gave me my jacket back.

She dumped me.

Oh.

I'm sorry to hear that.

No, you're not.

You were the one

who didn't want me
going out with an older girl

in the first place.

Look, I didn't think that

you were ready, okay?

But the truth is, I wasn't ready

you know, to let you...

You know, move
on and to trust you.

But now, I think that, um...

I might be able to
cut you some slack.

Excuse me?

I said, I think now's the time

that I give you some space

and learn to trust
you a little bit more.

Have that conversation
you been wanting to have

about the birds and the bees.

About condoms
and diamonds and...

It's about time.

[Chuckles]

I was beginning to wonder
what happened to you.

I got a little sidetracked.

Guess you won't be
wanting your old job back

seeing as how
you're a cop and all.

Word travels fast around here.

I couldn't tell you, Riley.

No apologies necessary.

You did a good thing.

Enough said.

Thanks.

So, what brings you back?

I just wanted to let you
know I was okay, that's all.

You never were a very good
liar, even when you were a kid.
