(tense music)
(thunder crashing)
(mouse squeaking)
- Hello, one and all!
Welcome to another thrilling
episode of Mice and m*rder.
I am your humble dungeon
master, Brennan Lee Mulligan.
And with me as always
are our Sylvan Sleuths.
Say hi, Sylvan Sleuths.
- [All] Hi Sylvan Sleuths.
- I love it! g*ng...
Last week our animal
investigators were all Loam Hall
making a series of wild discoveries
the Vicar Ian Prescott
and Ms. Daisy D'umpstaire,
when did their way from their hiding spot
in the seance room in the library
where the good Vicar's knowledge
of history allowed them to
correctly order the busts
of the Roman Emperor's Barkus Aurelius,
Pawdius, Pawgustus, Rompie,
and Growlius Caesar.
The bus being in the correct order.
They discovered
that these busts were
magnetically charged into the room
continuing with the strange
electrification of Loam Hall
based on all this recent
work gaining entrance in
to Squire Badger's study, Daisy
D'umpstaire, found a medal
of Valor that had been left
in the desk by Colonel
James Hawkins, as well
as a number of ledger books
that are now hidden all
over her person and still are,
they were just in time or to
to join the crowd
downstairs with Sylvester
making the pronouncement
of the Squire Badger's death by shrapnel
a wound that had almost
k*lled him many years ago.
And it finally finished its terrible work
based on the magnet
concealed within the bust
of Barkus Aurelius that had
been carefully constructed to
create the magnetic burst
that pushed the shrapnel
into the Badger's heart, but
was not so carefully made
that they got the date right.
Upon running to the Deus,
Lars Vandenchomp, along
with Buckster $ Boyd
and Gangie Green found
themselves on the dais.
And thanks to Sylvester
speaking on their behalf
it enables Buster to make
one last persuasion check
and his persuasion check in him
acquiescing to remain under supervision
hit a Nat 20 and you all
were allowed upstairs.
Not before Daisy
D'umpstaire, laid the earth
shattering revelation in front
of the assembled party guests
that Fletcher Cottonbottom did not die
at Rickenbunny Falls.
Our three suspects,
Gangie Green, Lars Vandenchomp
and Buckster $ Boyd were brought to
Mrs. Molesly's room where
Dr. Magpie tended to Gangie's
injury from their fight
at the top of the elevator
with a masked figure
at the top of Loam Hall,
as Sylvester tended
to his boon companion, Lars Vandenchomp.
Several things were discussed
in this moment based
on a series of incredible
insight checks that had occurred
during the mass gathering in the ballroom
an insight check made
by Lars Vandenchomp into
the personal Valet of
Squire William Thornwell
Brockhollow revealed
that the valet was not
surprised by the revelation
that Fletcher Cottonbottom
was still alive.
And indeed this corroborates the fact
that Gangie Green had
told us long ago that
Mr. Harding, wasn't he one
giving him the instructions
of which bodies to recover
from neighboring graveyards?
We also had an insight check made
by Buckster $ Boyd
and Gangie Green against Colonel Hawkins
discovering a shaken man
who was shocked to find
that Fletcher Cottonbottom
was still alive.
And indeed wondered
if he did not possess the
means to bring himself back
from the dead, but surprised or not,
the truth couldn't be ignored.
Colonel Hawkins was guilty of something.
Our friends moved upstairs and
as Sylvester, Buckster
conversed in Thieves' cant
Gangie Green conversed with
Mrs. Molesly who revealed
that indeed the elevator does go
to the cellar where
Gangie suspects a number
of mushrooms may be held
perhaps even mushrooms
with some natural ability to contain
or collect electricity or
raw power of some kind.
The final insight check that was made
during the grand revelations
in the ballroom was made
by the Vicar Ian Prescott
against Constance Brockhollow
discovering that she had a confession
something dark and terrible
in the corner of her eyes.
And as the Vicar confronted her
about it and saw indeed
that she felt some guilt.
There had clearly been an altercation.
We had heard shouting just
after dinner between her
and her father upstairs,
as she called him a madman
and stormed out of the
confrontation with him.
And just as the Vicar was
about to push the issue further
there was a loud knock boom
boom boom at the front door.
Could it be the police
finally arriving after
Mr. Gilfoyle's call?
No! it was the widow.
Catherine McCabbage
showing up in the rain.
Saying that she had seen the
ghost of Connor McCabbage.
Let us not forget what else happened
in the previous week's episode
on a Nat 20, Daisy D'umpstaire
saw a ghost.
We return to Loam Hall.
As the widow McCabbage
stands in the doorway,
looking up drenched and shivering
into the eyes of Daisy D'umpstaire.
- You said you saw, your
husband, your late husband.
- Right I did.
I saw him.
I live in a cottage across the river.
I saw him.
I saw his ghost.
- And what did this ghost say to you?
Oh, so you can come in at seems like
- You, you invite her in and
you see that Catherine looks
up onto the staircase,
sees Constance's eyes wide
and the Vicar you are there
speaking with Constance.
And he says, she says,
Oh, Father Prescott you're here.
Oh, Vicar I need to tell
you, Oh, I seen him.
I seen him here.
Oh, I seen Connor.
Vicar Prescott, you would
be well aware of this.
The McCabbage family, like many
of the working class families
lives across the river
from within- sort of
within a short distance
maybe like a quarter of a
mile or, or what have you
or even less than that, honestly, you know
just across the river from Loam Hall
in a small little cottage, but,
she's appears to be saying
that she saw Connor here.
You have her in the
entrance hall right now
but you're also right
next to next to Constance.
So there's a charged thing.
Cause you're, you're confronting
Constance about something
but also Catherine McCabbage
has just walked in.
And I think Daisy, you can see
that something tense was occurring
between the young Lady Brockhollow
and the Vicar up on the staircase.
What do you both do?
- I think I am worried.
The Vicar did another
fumble with this woman.
And so I'm trying to like put her at ease.
I think, I gently put my
hand on her back and say
do you want, do you
want something to drink?
You don't want to catch a cold.
Tell me all about what you saw
and what he's said about
what happened to him.
- You see Catherine McCabbage
look up and say (stutters)
Constance merely says
my dear Mrs. McCabbage, yes, absolutely.
Please. You see, she looks
over and says, "Rosalind!
"Edwina! Could we please get a
spot of tea and some blankets
"for Mrs. McCabbage?"
Please come with me into the drawing room.
We have a fire going.
You see that Mrs. McCabbage says,
I'm sorry I answered no
to coming to the party,
please I hope Squire Badger...
And you realize that
Catherine McCabbage doesn't
know what's been going
on here at Loam Hall.
- Why would she?
Okay,
so where do we go?
- Constant is ushering her
into the drawing room
where there's a large fire.
She's gonna be given some
blankets and some tea.
- Okay, okay.
- Vicar, do you accompany
them into the drawing room?
- I mean, can I press Constance more
about like where she saw him?
What that situation was?
- Cool, you see she's actually going to
go get some blankets herself as well.
So you can go press if you want to.
But I think if you're going to press
I'm going to need some other rolls here
or I'm going to need you
to use some other type
of character ability.
You've used your persuasion
check in this moment.
I would allow you to
potentially like cast a spell.
If you want to cast a spell
or I would also allow you to
make an intimidation check.
If persuasion doesn't work
- I would like to cast a spell.
- Hell yeah.
What's the spell you want to cast?
- Let's look this up.
- Ooh, a spell.
- Let's go, oh dammit.
Detect thoughts.
- Detect thoughts,
sounds like a pretty good
spell to use right now.
Incredible. This is for sure
going to be a Box of Doom roll.
This is one
of the few saving throws we
will even make this season.
So your difficulty for this is,
is a save difficulty of 11.
- Mhm.
- Which means that with her
plus two, Constance will beat
the save on a nine or higher.
So you want Constance to
roll an eight or lower here.
- Come on.
- Come on.
(laughs)
- Brennan.
- What's that?
Oh yeah,
(all laughing)
The Box of Doom!
(laughing)
- Katie, I want a supercut of your sighs.
- So you need an eight or lower.
- Brennan?
- You want an eight or lower.
- Oh God, oh God.
Please roll like Daisy.
Please roll like Daisy.
- What's "rolling like Daisy" mean?
Does that mean being fricking cool?
- No.
- Okay.
- It means being bad.
- Okay. You go to use,
which again, these are not quite magical
spells as much as they are reflections
of the Vicar's abilities of
insight and peering into people.
You do not feel in this
moment, any special insight
into the Lady Brockhollow on a natural 17
she resists your efforts
to detect thoughts.
However, you still may
make a skill check here.
If you would like as you
go and push her further
I would say in this case,
you've already tried persuasion.
So I'm going to ask
for either intimidation or
I would ask for deception
if you want to try to trick
her into saying something.
So I would go deception or intimidation.
- Okay. I mean, they're both--
It's this I'll go with intimidation.
They're both plus twos.
- I feel like that's good for
a priest, that's what they do.
- Hell yeah.
I'm going to say you definitely need
if you get lower than a
15, it's going to be bad.
If you can, if you can
hit that 20, Oh baby
go ahead and make your roll.
- I did.
And it's a, it's an 11.
- So what does the Vicar do
as he goes up to approach
the Lady Brockhollow
as she's getting blankets.
- Hey, God is real.
You might go...
I, I need to talk to you very quickly.
About, about, more about
what you saw the con--
what conversation you had with your father
and what he might have asked you to do.
Now, God is real.
There is an afterlife.
Apparently you can escape
from hell if, even if you can.
So I can't tell you that
if you don't give me
the information I want
that you will burn in
hell forever, technically
but you know, it's a possibility.
Is that intimidating enough?
Are you intimidated by that?
I'm trying to intimidate you.
You understand?
- She looks at you and says, Vicar,
do I seem intimidated?
- No, not at all, you do not.
- The enemies of my
family are closing around.
My father has been m*rder*d out here
at Loam Hall under my own eyes.
And you see she scowls,
eyes go full, bloodshot red.
And she goes, I won't have it.
You blathering owl.
You know, I stood up for you.
I told father he needed to invest
in those protections in the
mill, put those things in place.
And by God he did, I saw to it.
I knew the press would have its day.
They hate anyone like us
that lives off of the work of
other people, that owns land.
Well, you had your little
field day, didn't you Father?
stick your beak in our business again,
and I'll have it off your face!
And she grabs a bunch of blankets
and walks back downstairs.
- Well, yeah, definitely
not going to heaven.
Perhaps spending eternity
in Purgatory at best.
- Incredible. Yes.
And she moseys on down
to the drawing room and walks in,
Vicar, where do you go
after that confrontation
with Lady Brockhollow?
- Can I go meet with the others?
Where are they? Upstairs?
- Yes. I think you can, you can walk right
into the bedroom wing and
join everybody else for sure.
- Yeah, I'm going to the bedroom wing.
- Cool.
Daisy, you are downstairs
in the drawing room
as Constance walks in
and says Mrs McCabbage,
here's some blankets.
Please do see that you keep yourself warm
wraps them up and
see she just says, thank you
so much Lady Brockhollow.
And I am so sorry to
hear about your father.
Terrible, absolutely terrible.
I, I don't know if
something foul is afoot,
I was telling Father-
where is Father Prescott?
Did he see me come in?
Did he want to say something nice to me?
- Oh, you look well.
- Just shouted,
"you look well" from the hallway,
as Father Prescott walks away.
- And she doesn't look well at all.
She's drenched and crying.
- Someone had to bring
her blankets just now
to calm her down.
- You look awesome!
- Amazing. You see, she sits
down and says, Mrs. McCabbage.
If there's any way at all
that we can help you, please, please do
let me know.
You see that she says, well,
I came here as quick as I could.
I was, I was out in the storm.
I was down by the
waterside, under the awning,
by the little dock side
awning down by the homes.
And I can sometimes hear
Connor's voice over the water.
Like he's still talking.
In any case,
I looked up and there was
lightning flashing for sure.
And everything like that
was going on around.
But I think gazed up, you know,
I saw him here in Loam Hall
Constance raises an eyebrow,
from all the way across the
river, down by the docks,
near your home, you were able to look up
at Loam Hall through the
night and see your husband?
You must forgive me, Mrs. McCabbage but,
how good is your eyesight
in the middle of the storm, no less?
And you see that her eyes go wide.
And she says, he was bright.
He was bright, like a
lighthouse on the shore.
I seen him, not in one
of the rooms with the
candles lit for certain.
He were in a, in a dark
room, up on the second floor.
And you were moving around,
hovering, open the air
and all I could see him
there as bright as anything.
And I saw his face.
It looked like he was speaking to someone
but I couldn't hear the
words he was saying.
I swear.
I saw him.
Oh, I know I haven't gone mad.
They say Loam Hall is an old house.
And maybe, maybe it's haunted.
How have you experienced
anything strange here?
Anything like a ghost?
And you see Constance's eyes go wide.
Go ahead and make an insight check Daisy.
(sighs)
- That's a four.
- Man, you got books in your a*s crack.
You got books under
your, and they're getting
they are getting wet
and they just, it's not
It's not that you're that sweaty.
It's just that you're so much
warmer because you basically
are wearing a layer of books
and it's not comfortable
and you're sitting.
And one of the, these are,
these are not super hard cover
but you're you are like,
I wish I had thought to
put a paperback in my a*s
crack rather than one of them--
- Than a hard back. Yeah.
I wish I had done it binding side in
rather than page side in.
So it's not like cutting up my hole.
- All soggy.
- Good old soggy book.
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Okay. So I got nothing from that.
Got it.
Okay. There's a lot of stuff in this room
I don't like right now.
I don't like that Edwina is here.
I think she needs to
get her a*s outta here.
Rosalind can stay.
And I don't like that Constance is here.
I want to try to create some
sort of situation where Edwina
and Constance would both need to leave.
So I can talk to Mrs. McCabbage by myself.
- Ooh, have Rosalind
show her as*h*le again.
- That's a great idea.
- That's a very good idea.
Do you think that's what you should do?
- I do think that's what you should do.
- Okay
You know, what would cheer you up?
(laughing)
- Perfect.
- I love th--
- Mrs. McCabbage.
- You're doing good work.
- I love that you don't even have to
roll for like persuasion
or anything for this.
- Mrs. McCabbage.
I do understand- that sounds right...
Right.
(laughing)
I'm so sorry.
You know what always cheers me up?
Miss McCabbage
I understand what you're going through.
I've had, I've had several people
that I've almost married, dead and gone.
And I feel I see them in visions.
All of that and, um...
Do you want, do you want to
know something that always
makes me feel better?
- Of course, of course, ma'am.
- I'd be happy to know
(laughing)
Miss Crumb?
What is it?
- Always makes you feel better?
- Miss Crumb?
You remember me, right?
- See, Miss Crumb, who
minutes ago brushed your cheek
with her hand and said,
I'll never forget you.
Nods, nods
in the affirmative.
Yes, I remember that.
- Sorry. Now, do you remember
what we were talking about?
Because Miss McCabbage
has had quite an evening.
And I do think that she
could use a little cheering
up the way you cheered
me up a little earlier.
- You see that she raises
an eyebrow suggestively
smiles, walks over into the middle
of the group of you and goes
walks over in the middle
group of you and goes,
Li-berry!
(laughter)
Was that it? What that it?
- Yes, that was our first
little bit of fun, but
and then she kind of
seductively touches her elbow.
But do you remember what happened after?
- Go ahead and make a persuasion check
for me, if you'd be so kind.
- Oh my god.
- Oh, there we go.
- Brennan, it's a Nat 20.
(celebratory chime)
- Show that hole. Show that hole.
- I took a picture
And I have plus four so it's a 24.
- Rekha, how is it on
the most bullshit moves?
- This isn't bullshit.
- Only on the most bullshit moves.
- No, this is, this is a good idea.
That Gangie gave me through the ether.
- It is a good idea.
- Incredible.
- This is me being myself.
- You see she goes,
She goes, ah,
I've only ever shown it to
people I'm in love with but okay!
And you see that again.
She turns around, just flops over.
She's almost like she's
stretching and touching your toes.
Just plops over.
Again, there's nothing
- she's covered in fur,
lots of animals in this
world don't wear pants,
like Professor Shellcrest is a snail
They couldn't wear any pants
like there's lots of characters
that don't wear pants.
So there's nothing inheri--
It's like - guys, I
want to underline this.
This isn't something that
some animals do that's sexual.
Ms. Crumb is just very wrong
about what sexual things are
and aren't, so just flops
over, dress comes down,
shows her whole butt.
And you see that Lady Brockhollow says,
Miss Crumb, you're fired.
- Ohh!
- On a Nat 20 she says she's fired?
She's not entranced a second?
- Miss Crumb stands up
from saying that and says,
if I'm fired,
then it's allowed to steal
and runs out of the room.
And Lady Brockhollow says,
it's not, it's not, that's not
based on your employment here! And runs
out of the room after her.
Leaving you alone with Mrs
McCabbage in the drawing room.
- And Edwina leaves too?
Or is that b*tch in here?
- Oh no Edwina leaves as well.
She leaves when she tells that
that Rosalind's about
to show her whole butt.
- Now, Miss McCabbage, that
made you feel better, right?
- You turn back to a weeping
woman who is clearly coming
down with pneumonia and
just saw a woman's a*s
who screamed "li-berry" a moment before
- And who you just sexually harassed
for your own sick purposes.
- Yeah.
- It worked, that's all that matters.
- Katie is correct for saying that.
So I put, I put a gentle
paw on Mrs McCabbage's back
and say Mrs McCabbage,
you've had an awful, awful
go of things this year.
Please tell me what's going on.
You saw a vision of your late husband?
Did you see anything else?
Have you, have you seen
him at any other point?
Did he say anything
about the nature of his untimely demise?
- I heard his voice on
the wind before though
I could never make out the words.
And this was the first time
I've seen him truly seen him but
(stutters)
I'll tell you everything I can.
I saw him up in the second floor.
It was, it was the second window
from the South-East corner,
along the second floor.
And I saw him there there for a moment.
He looked surprised and scared almost.
This was about,
I came over as fast as I
could through the rain.
I didn't even go back to
the house to get an umbrella
or to ask for a neighbors
carriage or nothing.
I just ran here as fast as I could.
And so I'd say it was
about 15, 20 minutes ago.
Daisy.
That is right around when you
and the vicar were in the seance room.
- Yeah. So she saw, I mean,
she saw my ghost conjuring for sure.
But. (sighs)
- But the issue you're
having here is this.
There are no windows in the seance room.
- Exactly. So I'm like,
Was it...
a reflection?
Was it like, how would
that have been broadcast?
- Wait was she--
- Is there a hidden window?
Is there--
- I mean, I think Daisy knows,
knows that something is up.
You're like the coincidence is too much.
Like she'd she described his expression.
What are the f*cking odds?
And this, this doesn't seem
like superstition either.
Like when you, when you
think of, when you think
of like the Lady Lucretia,
like for all of her,
like belief in this stuff,
her life is very much
like just sort of a farce of it all.
This woman ran through the freezing rain
with no umbrella because
she, like, she behaved as
though someone saw the
supernatural and wasn't like, wow
the supernatural, like what
a feeling that conjured.
But like, Oh sh*t, my ghost husband.
Let's go save him.
Like--
- She names second floor,
second window from the
Southeastern corner.
Is that where the room of seance room is?
- Oh, no, it's the room next to it.
- Which is the library.
- Oh, I'm sorry.
Oh, sorry.
Did you say, did you say
seance room or Sam's room?
- Seance, but I could
say whatever you want.
- The, no, sorry.
The, the seance room
is in the leisure wing.
Which is on the other side of the Manor,
this would be in the residential wing.
This would have been
in one of the bedrooms.
- So is this the room
where, what the f*ck?
Ms. Moseley's room or what
other bedrooms are over there?
I mean, everybody
- I think you would
have to go investigate.
I don't think, you know, the layout
of the house well enough
and you haven't been
to that wing yet
- Someone else has been conjuring ghosts,
- Lucretia,
who else is conjuring ghost--
Okay.
Yeah. Can I,
can I take her there with me?
I don't want her to talk
to anyone else in the house
is the reason I want to her with me.
- Yes, absolutely.
You can.
You can bring her with you right now.
- Okay, great.
Do you have enough blankets?
And did you see enough of that butt?
Do you feel good to kind of move--
- Actually, you know,
the butt wasn't really
for me and I'd be fine
not seeing it ever again.
- Fair enough.
You know, to each their own,
she does do a good head
cleaning I've heard.
Let's go.
I want to take you somewhere.
- Good gravy.
You... see that--
You arrive upstairs.
We return to the bedroom wing.
Vicar Ian, you arrived first
and join everybody else.
You walk in past Basil and Milo.
Milo was like, hello
there friend, welcome.
Come on in.
You speak to the provide any last rites
in case the medicine doesn't hold (laughs)
so you walk in and see
that in the room now,
it is just Buckster,
Sylvester, Lars and Gangie.
- Can I share with them
the Constance stuff?
- Yes.
Go ahead and share with
them the Constance stuff.
- Everyone listen up.
So I just had a
conversation with Constance.
(dramatic music plays)
It looks like you guys have
been going through things too.
We'll get to what you guys been through.
But right now, I just want
to say my thing real quick
- It's a whole deal, man.
(laughs)
- In speaking with Constance,
Earlier I had noticed a gleam in her eye,
I can't, I can't really
describe it, but after all
these years and in the ministry
and serving people, if I
could just tell that she had
something that she needed
to confess that she was
dying to confess.
Now, when I went over to speak
to her, she didn't entirely
didn't seem ready to divulge
everything, but she did have
a conversation with her father
who she believes is dead
by her own doing possibly.
She apparently had a conversation
with her father where
he requested something of her
that she was not ready to do.
And she feels that because
her denial of her father,
might have led to his k*lling.
And now she's also very, very
upset with me, probably still
over the confusing her
for his wife type stuff.
We're not going to get into that, but,
she believes that he's dead and possibly,
that possibly is her fault.
- And yet we cannot
say the same about Jez.
When I spoke to him in this very room,
if not this very spot, the look in his eye
when I offered my condolences was such
as to suggest he didn't know
if his Pappy was dead or alive.
So here we've got one
daughter who thinks maybe
her father died at her hand,
some indirect kind of sort of a way,
and a son who wonders if
that father's dead or alive.
- Daisy, you rejoin your companions
with Mrs McCabbage at your side.
As you walk up into the hallway,
and walk through the door
with Milo and Basil outside.
- And Milo and Basil let
me go in there or they--
- Yeah, they're just here
to keep Gangie and Lars
and Buckster from going out.
But you can walk in sort
of with total privacy.
They say, hello there, Miss D'umpstaire
And hello, Mrs McCabbage,
welcome back to Loam Hall.
And you see that they open
the door, escort you guys in.
Mrs McCabbage looks up and
sees Sylvester and Lars,
who she recognizes.
She looks up and says,
Oh, Detective Cross.
Oh sir, it's a pleasure to see you again.
- Widow McCabbage, the
pleasure is all mine.
If only I could say the same
for your traveling companion this evening.
- Oh, give it a break.
- Oh, should I give it a break?
Oh, should I give it a break?
You know, you know, you know, a minute ago
you told me you've been working with--
my ex fiance told me that
they were working with my arch nemesis.
- I hold up two fingers, I
go - "working"..."next to"...
Not with.
- You see how that's worse, right?
- No, I don't.
I simply don't.
Anyway--
- Anyway.
Miss McCabbage.
- Miss McCabbage here has seen
a ghost of her late husband.
- Hmm?
- I did.
I saw Connor floating in a
dark room somewhere near here.
The second story of Loam Hall.
I seen him floating,
looking scared, frightened
You see, she looks at you,
Father Prescott and says
father, do you think,
do you think something is keeping him
from going to the Lord's side?
- Yes, clearly, yes there must be.
- What?!
She bursts into tears.
- You are--
- Objectively, if you saw him here,
there's something keeping
him from entering paradise.
- Are you suggesting--
Mrs McCabbage, are you suggesting
your late husband has unfinished business?
(thunder roars)
- Outside, you see--
She says, I think he does.
I know he was always so careful
when he took the job at the mill.
I said, Connor, you be careful.
You know, accidents happened all the time.
We had a cousin who had lost
an arm under one of the mills,
and everyone's going to work.
It's hard to find honest
jobs in the countryside.
And he thought working
at the textile mill he'd
have a way to make a living.
But I know I told him every day I said
you come back in one piece, Connor.
- Widow, Widow McCabbage.
I understand that you've had a year of
some trauma and my, my,
my heart goes out to you.
My heart goes out to
anyone in your situation.
There is no such thing as ghosts.
(laughs)
There is not a possibility
that your husband appeared
in some spectral form.
I believe that what
you've suffered is perhaps
a hallucination brought on by grief
of perhaps a bit of indigestion.
Why there's more of gravy than of grave
about your dead husband.
- Detective Cross,
as I say this I put my hands
on Mrs McCabbage's shoulders.
Just moments ago, you learned
of a man you presumed dead
to be living.
Oh, you really in such a
position to speak so highly
and firmly of what is
fact and what is fiction.
- I learned a moment ago that a man,
that I presumed to be dead, is alive.
If that's evidence of ghosts,
then evidence has no meaning.
- Well, let me say this:
It's evidence that you
don't know everything.
- There is a pregnant pause.
Mrs McCabbage goes,
right well, if no one else saw the ghost.
She says I merely came
to see if anyone else
here knew anything.
If the Vicar had had a vision of some sort
or did anyone else see this?
Or was I the only one
to see this apparition?
And you can see here, she's
hanging on by a f*cking thread.
(sad music plays)
If she like--
She knows that Sylvester
is saying the thing
but she just, if, and if no
one else says that they saw it
you can just see that
she's going to accept that
what Sylvester said is true
- Mrs McCabbage,
not only do I believe
Sylvester is wrong,
I believe you
are more than right.
For I too, saw the ghost
of your late husband.
- Her eyes go wide.
Everyone else hears Daisy say this.
You see, she says, you did? Where?
How did he appear to you?
Did he appear as well with
you in that dark room?
- Here's the thing.
It was not in that room.
for I conducted a seance of sorts,
Vicar Ian was there, you remember Ian?
- I was there, I didn't see it.
Cause you made me close my eyes.
- I made you close your eyes
because you are patently bad
luck, you are bad news bears.
And that's not offensive to bears
- Are we to understand that the sighting
of this apparition was not
only by one Daisy D'umpstaire
but it was seconded by a man of the cloth.
- Absolutely
- So Sylvester. Do you still
think you know everything?
- Folks, I've spent..
forty years,
around England with people saying,
ooh something supernatural happened.
And then it turns out, Oh no,
someone invented expl*si*n
powder and then created fire.
Or, Oh no, it was a..
it was a vinegar and baking soda
and it made a thing happen.
Once again,
as has ever been the case,
there is no such thing as ghosts.
Why just tonight,
f*cking a hundred g*dd*mn people
were standing in a ballroom
and said, the occult
made a man stab himself
and in like 20 minutes,
I proved them wrong.
So--
- Detective.
Granted this night has already
exhibited some exceptional qualities,
but am I mistaken in my memory that you,
upon the site of the dead
body of Squire Brockhollow,
said to one Lucretia,
I've seen a ghost?
- I was being cute. I was being cute.
- It wasn't cute, Sylvester.
- Have none of you ever
tried to be cute before?
I thought it would be a fun thing to say.
And it was, and we all had a ball.
We all had a ball.
It was a great time.
- I remember scratching my head.
Do you remember scratching your head?
- I was having fun.
- Here's what I know.
I know that a Gangie Green has
been digging up dead bodies
and bringing them back to
this manor for some time.
And I know that there is
an electromagnetic force
at play in this manor.
And for a third thing
that there have been the
spirits of ghosts about now.
I don't know about y'all, but the legend
of Frankenstein suggests that
when there are dead bodies
and when there's electromagnetism,
the dead come back to life.
- Those first two things were fine.
And then the third thing
you went off the rails
there aren't any ghosts here.
- Well,
if there are no ghosts and
you should have no trouble
with us wasting our time, trying to,
trying to find Connor McCabbage's ghost,
you might just laugh it up. Right?
- Let's do that then.
Oh, let's do that.
Let's go have a look.
Let's- let's- let's follow
Daisy's little plan of,
Oh we'll go see if
there's a ghost next door
and see how that rolls.
- Well I'm sorry. I do
think that perhaps three
of these people are sort of
supposed to stay in this room.
- Caramba.
- Miss McCabbage,
- Ay caramba--
- This is the origin of that phrase.
- Is it Mrs McCabbage, Miss McCabbage,
Widow McCabbage?
I'm bad at this.
- Mrs McCabbage is fine.
- I'm from America.
We don't really bother
with certain formalities.
- We're just rude and sh*t over there.
- Where--
What room in this Manor
did you see this occurring,
and Daisy, could you be a,
could you offer your assistance
in leading McCabbage there?
- Oh, absolutely.
- You see that Widow McCabbage nods,
She says, well, let me ask
one of the footmen outside.
Where the- which window it would be.
She goes to step outside.
Daisy. You still have those books all
over you from the study.
- I do.
I want it to give them to Armond.
- I'm not supposed to know about them
- I know.
I think I don't say anything.
- Wow.
I think I leave the books in my a*s.
- Well well, another
example of a little secret.
- Well let me tell you, you
don't know that it's a secret
so you're not even saying this.
- That's right!
I'm just literally lighting my pipe.
- Incredible.
- Rekha I'm gonna text
you 'wow' right now.
- Nooo.
I was gonna text you,
I was gonna text you.
I'm thinking about double
crossing you, but I don't know
if I'll do it.
- Cool cool cool, no problem
- Oh my God.
- Shouldn't we be working together?
- Yes, we should be.
- We are working together, but
this is the boring business
part between Buckster and me.
That has no bearing on
the case to my knowledge,
if it starts to have bearing on the case
I will do work accordingly.
But to my current knowledge,
this is just for capital gain.
- You know I have no
knowledge of this paperwork.
So I can't speak as Buckster
here, except to say that
if there are, you know,
conspiratorial financial dealings
that could have put the
Squire in a position where
you might be, where like
someone might want them dead--
- Okay f*cking convinced
me, Buckster, tell me.
- Buckster didn't - Buckster
had nothing to do with it.
- Cause, I'm trying to,
here's what I'm negotiating.
I'm like trying to follow Daisy's arc.
I think she's power hungry
and out for herself.
But I also do want to solve the mystery.
- Daisy is incredibly intelligent.
Why don't you, you
could excuse yourself to
like go to the bathroom, take a minute
to like review all these documents.
- Okay. I'll do that.
Okay, great.
So none of this
conversation ever happened.
Miss McCabbage,
will you excuse me while
I take a D'umpstaire?
(laughs)
- She smiles.
- You know, it's actually Dumpster.
- She smiles?
- She smiles and she's
like, she's like, I ran over
here so fast and I've been crying so hard,
but as soon as I had
that little cup of tea,
it just shot right through me.
I, I actually have to
really take a dump as well.
- Let's go.
We lock arms.
- Cool. You see that
she is actually directed
to the sort of upstairs,
the upstairs bathroom.
So you go back downstairs
to, to the bathroom
and the entrance wing.
Cause there's only two bathrooms
in this part of the house.
- Let's make sure we
get her there on Roll20
- Go to there on Roll20.
- In the bathroom taking a sh*t?
- Do I have a moment in the room
with the remaining
characters here in the room?
- Yes. You do.
Lars, Sylvester, Buckster,
Gangie and Ian are all still here.
- Detective,
Vicar.
You were in the ballroom at
the time of the announcement.
Is there any chance,
any chance whatsoever that
you remember the presence
- Or not... Of a snail?
- Go ahead, everyone here making
it flat intelligence check.
Make a flat intelligence check.
- Everybody?
- Yeah.
- I'm gonna do it.
- Ooh baby that's a 19.
- Hell yeah.
- Ooh, Nat 20!
(celebratory chime)
- Lars, you're not a big investigator type
but God damn do you just sit
around all day doing headcounts
like your whole day,
watching the perimeter being
like who the f*ck is there?
Who the f*ck is there?
Every single person on the
guest list and every member
of the house staff was present.
As soon as Gilfoyle, Harding, Basil,
Milo and Colonel Hawkins
came into the room after you.
- Professor Shellcrest,
they were definitely
in the room at that time.
- I have a general question,
you said everyone in the staff
and everyone on the guest list
are there children of the
staff that live in this house?
- There are children of the staff.
You are not certain if they
live within Loam Hall proper
or if they live in external,
like annexes and things like
that, like Gangie Green lives
in a grounds keeper's house.
- Right? Because Edwina and
Carolyn is what I'm thinking.
They seem like kids, they don't seem like
- I'm gonna say on a Nat 20
on a Nat 20,
Lars, you were listening
outside the door of
Edwina and Carolyn.
Those were the mice maids
you were listening to.
Go ahead and give me an
insight check with advantage.
- Ooh.
That's a 21 for the first one.
21 is my highest.
- Lars. You remember doing a head count.
Shellcrest was there,
of the people you saw
Shellcrest was there.
They seemed completely fine.
They'd--
Honestly, on a Nat 20 for
your intelligence check
you were clocking Shellcrest
as being very attracted
to Sylvester and excited to
be part of a m*rder mystery.
Very much like, I've been in
high society for so very long
and I've never been part
of a m*rder mystery.
And finally, this is my day.
I'm in it.
- My bingo card is complete.
- I hope I'm not just one
of the background people,
I hope I'm not just here for texture.
I would love to be one of the main people
- I hope I'm the m*rder*r
- I would love to be the m*rder*r
or at least the red herring.
Then you see next to
them a red herring go,
Hey, watch it, buddy.
I got the joke in.
I got the joke in baby.
- You know, there's,
there's something about this red herring.
- Everybody always f*cking suspects.
Incredible.
Other people that you were
told to watch out for,
there was Harding that you
got that very good look at.
Harding has an incredible poker face
and Harding wasn't in the
room when you entered.
But you also--
Because Harding was chasing you
but you did see him in the
elevator shaft when you got
to the bottom.
- To the bottom?
Right?
- Right.
Like you were fighting that figure up
on top and you got to the
bottom and Harding was there.
(upbeat music playing)
And then you also saw Armond Armadillo.
When you look back with that 21 insight.
Well, let me tell you about,
I'll tell you about Carolyn
and Edwina first, you saw
them whispering to each other
in the back of the room, holding--
Real quick timeout.
No one here ever took
Buckster's knife back right?
I don't do I remember that?
- [All] No.
- And you remember them
holding something wrapped
in a napkin in their hands.
And then the last thing you remember--
- I'm in a world of sh*t.
- Finally,
the only the person you saw
that you've been told to look
out for was Armond Armadillo
who was looking very
befuddled and baffled.
There was also looking to you very injured
like weak, sort of bent over out of shape,
not looking great.
- Like he'd been shoveled?
- Wait.
Army, my Armadillo?
- Your Armadillo.
He was looking, he was looking f*cked up.
He was looking a little bit f*cked up.
- This is what Gangie thought.
- This is what I said long ago.
- Quite
- Oh, I thought you said quiet.
- Wait I thought you did say quiet.
- Quite
I said quite.
- Oh okay, I was like okay.
- Quiet.
- Shut up.
- Everyone shut up.
Wait okay, Army.
Let's get Army in here.
Buckster can you get him up here?
- I mean, I don't know if I could, like
I guess I could send someone
who's allowed out of the room.
- Isn't Army being a mill post at a mill.
He's a bull--
- That's what he said
he was going to go do.
- Bullshit.
- He said he was going to
be a broken pole at a mill.
A mill.
- Yeah. So Lars, the Vicar
or Sylvester could
absolutely go get Armond
and bring Armond up here.
- And I have another question.
What time is it?
Because we all know that
we've got a 3:00 AM clock ticking down.
- Yes, absolutely.
Wait sorry, 3:00 AM clocking ticking down?
What do you mean?
- When the elevator
goes to the bottom floor
- 3:00 AM or PM?
- Yes, absolutely.
Right now it is well past midnight.
It is well past midnight right now.
- So we have to start to
make some decisions probably
about what our next move is.
- If we are going to get that key
I believe either Harding or
Gilfoyle right now has it.
We don't have it anymore.
If we're going to take that
elevator down somewhere
we got to get that key back.
- I have a question
for you Buckster, about Army.
- Yes, indeed.
Would he know enough
about your competitors
and potentially be close
enough to have tried
to get this transfer of power over to...
I forget the person's name,
but could he be working
with this other America--
- The Jack Rabbit?
- The Jack Rabbit Company
- Lars, are you suggesting that
just because I've paid
off a spy and Gangly here
at the Brockhollow residence
that someone would have paid
off a spy in my residence as well?
- Yes.
Definitely.
- Should I roll perception
on that, Brennan?
- Do you want to roll insight on Armond?
- Insight? Sure.
- Yeah, lets do a little
backdoor insight check, yeah.
- My favorite kind of insight.
- It was a natural one.
(sad song plays)
- Perfect.
- The story tells itself.
- Buckster,
you are a man who lives in
the future in your mind.
You do not ascend
from absolute bankruptcy
of your Father, Boarwell
you do not bury that man.
And look at your watch that
says time is money, here's both.
And claw your wicked
way to the f*cking top
without being able to consider
any and all possibilities
of what the future may hold,
until today...
Under no circumstance
will your physical brain
allow you to imagine Armond Armadillo,
doing anything useful for
anybody ever at any time.
And the fact that this has been suggested
by someone makes you want
to beat, honestly, Armond.
You want to--
With that insight roll--
- I don't know how to say this to you but
the very idea of this makes
me want to arm wrestle.
(laughs)
- Yeah okay, we can do that.
- Just to work out some frustration.
- You want to arm wrestle Lars?
- All right I tell you.
Gangie, I'll bet you
a thousand francs,
that Lars wins.
- I ain't got no money.
- No. Right?
Vicar, let's say you seem to
have come into a windfall--
- In this game of fantasy,
where anything's possible,
Katie chooses to be broke.
(laughs)
- Incredible,
we're going to make an
opposed athletics check here,
Buckster versus Lars.
- $10.000 to anyone who'll take the bet
that Lars wins this.
- I can't bet, God is real now.
- Oh God, Daisy?
Anything?
You want some action?
- 16
- 13.
I stood up remarkably well.
- Yes, that's very good.
Lars, he takes a minute,
but this Texan Javalina
has got a lot of grit.
Eventually, bam.
- Oh no, you've almost got me.
Oh, there it is!
- Incredible.
Okay, as you were up here--
So Buckster,
you've had that conversation
about Armond Armadillo.
Lars you've had that
revelation about that insight
check where you hit this
other couple of people.
Gangie you're up here thinking
about all the different
kinds of mushrooms that
there are and how exciting that is.
And also about the wonderful Mrs Molesly.
What's on Sylvester's mind
right now as this goes?
- Well, it seems to me
that we have a number
of tasks per that laid out before us
and only so much time in
which to accomplish them.
Task number one is to
go with that batty widow
and prove to my ex fiance that
there's no such thing as ghosts
which evidently we'll probably
spend a little time on
because people are really
high on Daisy's sh*t tonight.
So we're going to take a
little bit of time to do that.
Second, we're going to need to investigate
Armond the Armadillo,
because I'm with Lars
that dude's...
You're a stupid American.
You don't really know
what's going on with him.
I still say there's something up
because Lars says there's something up
and Lars won't betray me.
Third, we're going to
have to get our hands
on that key so that we can
go down on the elevator.
Now it seems to me
that our challenge with
these options are as follows.
The three of you are under arrest.
That is a challenge in and of itself.
However, Gangie Green.
I know quite a bit about your history
and while I don't trust you
as far as I can throw you,
I will say that you have
the tools to get yourself
out of here and this evening,
our interests, our lines.
So I trust you to free
our companions as well.
- All right.
- Being that I'm stuck,
If Army is summoned
here, I'll deal with him.
- Incredible. I am going
to need two things.
Number one, Buckster as
you look at these books--
Correct me if I'm wrong,
Rekha, you did end up
giving the ledgers and--
Oh no.
- Left it in my a*s.
- Left it in your a*s.
You're going to the bathroom
to look that sh*t up.
We're actually now going to cut to Daisy
in the bathroom downstairs.
You drop a--
Actually give me a constitution check
if you could be so kind.
- Okay. To see how much I sh*t?
- Yeah, to see how much you sh*t
- Wait, were you actually sh1tting also?
- Weren't you lying about sh1tting?
- I was but maybe I just
use this time to do it
and then sorry I just clicked
my constitution button.
That's what I do.
- Yeah, just click the modifier.
- I really was hoping for a Nat 20,
I got 11.
- Cool. Nothing to write home
about, you know, completely
run of the mill.
But as you're in here, go ahead
and give me investigation.
And I'm going to say we've
established that Daisy succeeds
in privacy and what's more
private than a bathroom.
- Yes.
- Although I will say
this bathroom does have two
doors, which is interesting.
It's under the staircase
and it has one door
that goes out into the ballroom
and another door that
goes out into the hallway.
Go ahead, if you'd be so kind,
and give me therefore an
investigation check with advantage.
- Okay.
14 on the first one.
Okay. Daisy.
You're now free a little
bit of your bowels,
just concentrate and you
can find the information
in these ledgers.
You don't need Buckster to help you,
you don't need anybody.
I'm not sh1tting you, it was a Nat 20.
(celebratory chime)
29.
- No way.
(Sam laughs victoriously)
- Unbelievable.
That's unbelievable.
That's stupid as hell.
- Rekha--
- If this is a text message,
I'm gonna lose my mind.
- Rekha, I'm about to send
you a couple of text messages.
(dramatic music plays)
- Oh my f*cking God.
- I'm on the toilet baby.
- Yeah.
- I am...
So happy.
- I also forgot--
- Wait what was that roll for?
- To investigate the ledgers
I stuffed in my butt.
- Okay, I thought you were
still doing how much--
- How much sh*t I did?
I wish.
- A Nat 20 on a sh*t.
- Yeah, Nat 20 on a sh*t
means you lose 50 pounds.
- It would just be the perfect sh*t.
- That's just so satisfying.
- Rekha, I've sent you some
sh*t over text message.
That's yours to do with what you please.
However, you've all these
books spread over the bathroom,
dropping a deuce. On a Nat 20...
I'm not going to give you the results
only of your investigation.
I'm going to give you the results of
Any...
No, any's not good enough.
I'm gonna give you the result
of every investigation that
could have been conducted
in this room.
Because--
- People be investigating
in bathrooms all the time,
tell me.
- All the time.
- They do.
- Rekha, as you look up...
You see a portrait on the
wall right next to the mirror.
It is a portrait of a
Renaissance era Badger woman
and you see--
- Some perv.
- There's something wrong with the eyes.
- You're being looked at in the bathroom.
- Can I--
You're welcome.
Can I
pop up to those eyes
and see if I can do the same
thing with the painting?
- You move the eyes to
the side as you do so,
you see indeed that
they moved to the side.
This is not another room
like the full study.
Instead, what you see
looking through the eyes
very quickly is it's a
gross, dusty little room.
There's some pipes in here
it's made of like old--
It's like un-worked masonry in here
smaller even than a closet
but big enough for someone
to physically be inside of.
But it's a strange little space.
Cause you'd have to get in here
and like hide yourself in it.
The main thing you see in here
looking through the portrait though,
is the portrait comes off the wall
and that there's a lot of
electrical wiring in here.
And you see reachable,
not even having to--
because you have to pull the sink
out to move yourself in here physically
but you can just swing the trick portrait
out with it's fake eye holes
and you see three small
electrical breakers
electrical switches on the wall.
On a Nat 20
I can only tell you
what you think these do
looking at them here.
God, I cannot believe you
f*cking hit that Nat 20 here.
Unbelievable.
- I really do roll better
after taking a sh*t.
- You see a switch that
runs off on a little wire
laterally through the roof,
and then it goes down to the ground
and runs out to what the hall would be.
And as you look at that
you go to put your hand near
it and get a little shock.
It's of a familiar level
of strength to you.
- Yeah. That breakers on,
it's like in the desk.
Okay. Here's the thing.
Yes. Go ahead.
- Sorry. Sorry.
Feel free to interrupt if you
have something want to say
but you touch the first one. You guessed
exactly correct.
You're like, you're like
I know exactly where that breaker goes.
There is another one
that's a little bit larger
that it's wires go straight up.
The wires go straight straight up.
- Like an elevator?
- It looks like it goes straight
up into one of the towers.
And you see that this one
has a different kind of piping on it.
It is thick copper,
a thick copper pipe on this.
And it was exceptionally well grounded.
If you're guessing, you think
that might go to some kind of
something grounding the
house or some other thing.
And you remember Sylvester and Lars saying
that they saw lightning
strike the top of the house.
- Yes, I do remember that.
So it's like fake lightning?
- Well.
- Or storming?
- And then you see one last one.
This last one runs off
with cables running in all directions.
One of them running to the wall
going into the bathroom again,
one foot to your left by the
bathroom mirror above the sink.
That one.
Oh baby, you turn it?
- No, no!
I was going to open the mirror.
Is the mirror like a medicine
cabinet or just a mirror?
- It's not a medicine cabinet
but it is as thick and bulky as one.
- Yeah. I turn that.
Do I turn that breaker on everyone?
What do you think?
- Yeah, yes turn it.
- You turn it on.
You see in the mirror,
up the hillside
and you see the front of Loam Hall.
Grant, I need you to
roll a perception check
with advantage for me as you stand
by the window of Mrs. Molesly's room,
- What the f*ck is happening?
- I don't understand.
- By the window of Mrs--
Okay.
- Dirty 20.
- You throw the breaker.
Rekha, the mirror goes
from being reflective
to being partially reflective,
but mostly transparent.
And you can see the front of Loam Hall,
rain coming down.
Looking up the hillside,
Grant, you look out.
Standing on the dock,
You see the ghost of Daisy D'umpstaire.
- Oh!
- Hold on.
- He was in the house!
- There's some sort of illusion, g*ng,
some sorta--
- Brennan how did you do this?
How did you do that?
- Wait, explain what just happened.
- No but if we saw Cottonbottom,
that means Cottonbottom
was in the bathroom
meaning Cottonbottom has been
in the house for a long time.
- So his bottom wasn't
so cottony at that point?
- Cottonbottom was where I'm standing?
- Yes! Where you are.
Or somewhere.
- Katie, to explain.
There is some sort of method
where if someone is in this bathroom
their illusion or ghost is
projected out of the house.
So that's why they saw
Fletcher Cottonbottom.
That's probably why Mrs McCabbage--
No, actually that doesn't make sense
because Connor died unless
he was in his bathroom.
Okay. Interesting.
And now Sylvester has seen me
because I'm standing there.
- What about that Cottonbottom thing?
Is he alive?
- Yeah, what about it?
- Here's the thing,
everybody in this g*dd*mn
house that we think is dead.
Is not dead.
Or we think that's our body.
That's not their body.
And I'm sick of it.
(all laughing)
- Katie are you praying?
- Wait a minute.
Wait a minute.
Wait a minute.
God is not real?
(all laughing)
- Yeah, Vicar Ian runs through the house.
Wait, I change my mind again!
- Okay.
- Is there any chance--
- I need to dab myself
- When you saw Cottonbottom.
Rekha, Daisy,
how exactly did Cottonbottom
appear to you again?
As if from like a--
- I didn't see Cottonbottom here.
I know he's alive because
I've seen him in my exploits.
- Sorry. McCabbage,
when you saw McCabbage,
- [Rekha] Sorry, yes
- McCabbage appeared to you as a ghost,
but in the context of what?
- In a crystal ball.
So that was unrelated.
That was, or we think.
- And something else.
- That was in the Seance room.
The Seance room is on the
opposite side of the house.
- Wait, what if we could get someone
to the seance room and try this again
and see if it's projecting
in multiple places.
- That's true.
- Yeah. Cause there
might be another place.
Like another room like this that's right.
- So--
- It won't be because if that's true,
McCabbage is trapped somewhere.
- Daisy, as you remember
what you heard Connor McCabbage saying,
(dramatic music plays)
he said, I'm trapped.
- Yes.
He's trapped here.
He's f*cking alive.
- He is alive.
Somewhere in this house and broadcasting.
- There's someone behind
- Yeah, is he in--
- The door or the something,
There's someone behind--
- Yes.
- There's someone behind me?
Cause he's looking in the mirror right?
- He said, Squire Badger
there's someone behind,
that's all he said to us.
- Squire, right, Squire
Badger trailed off.
There's someone behind?
- Well, this is where we're going to need
to pull my original.
- You know, what's so
cool about this genre?
Is that--
- [Raphael] What the f*ck?
- None of you have seen Daisy yet.
I'm the only one who
knows any of this sh*t.
So pretend I,
as the inspector just
said all that to everyone.
In some sort of brilliant bon mot-y way.
- Yeah, but you don't know about,
you just think Daisy's
dead or you're crazy.
You don't know anything about this mirror.
- Yeah, what do you think?
Because you don't
believe in f*cking ghosts
and you know I just went to take a sh*t
- That's right.
And so very quickly, very quickly.
I determined
that that there's some sort
of projection mechanism.
- There's some sort of sh*t angel--
- Somehow projecting your
yard image out the door.
- Wait. So does that mean
that Cottonbottom did the
breaker switch himself to be--
- I think Cottonbottom is in the house.
- He's in the house.
- And I think McCabbage is.
- Right, but did he,
in order to project himself
he had to have done this breaker.
- Yes.
I mean, he doesn't have
if someone's in the bathroom with him,
if he has to be in front of
the mirror for it to project.
- But--
- This is so scary because he's here
he's in the like anals
of the f*cking mansion.
Now that we know that there
are all these back passageways.
- Y'all, there are animals in the walls.
- Daisy, once you flipped
breaker on a Nat 20
I will allow you to see
that this appears to
be one area of control.
This seems like a major area
of electrical control for the house.
You see two other large cables
going from here.
This one looks like,
honestly, it is anchored most prominently
to the copper one that goes straight up
and on a Nat 20 I'll just say,
you think that they have
a lightning rod in the top
of Loam Hall that they
use to collect lightning
and store it somewhere.
But you don't know where they
would be able to store it.
Like that's not--
The way mills and factories work.
Cause they're constantly burning fuel
and just sending that energy out.
But you think there's like some way
for them to store it here
although you don't know what
you see one big cable from here going down
towards the kitchen wing
and then that--
so something down deeper in the Manor,
the other one goes--
- Mushrooms.
- That's what I was thinking.
- Mushrooms!
- The other one goes back up the staircase
heading towards the
bedroom wing of the house.
- Right, so I've just
said all of that but.
- I would bet that where
there are mushrooms
there are dead bodies.
There is McCabbage
and there are batteries that store,
whatever the means of
storing this electricity.
- So you think McCabbage, so, okay.
Because that would mean there needs to
be a projection mechanism
in the mushroom house or whatever
mushroom room, mush-room.
- There's some way in which all
of this is connected, right?
Those are the things that we conspicuously
haven't yet found anywhere in the house.
- So I've said all of that,
but to what end,
why would someone want to
make someone else believe
that there are ghosts?
Why would that be such
an observation area?
The game was afoot!
- Detective, we're just
hanging out with this bedroom.
I don't know what you're talking about.
- I just did a whole g*dd*mn thing about
I saw her out the window
and I had all these revelations of there
has to be some way that
because she's projecting
herself because she's alive.
I've just, you know, we all know this.
And also there's no such thing as ghosts.
This is, I keep establishing
over and over and over.
So--
- Detective, are you saying
you watched her poop?
- Hm, Daisy?
- Are you saying you watched her poop?
- Oh my ex fiance, who I've
been attracted for years--
- Yeah she's not your fiance anymore
- and years and years
and opportunities to see
without any clothes on?
No, of course it didn't take that.
Why would you assume that that would be
what I was looking at?
- You think people take all
their clothes off to poop?
- Maybe Miss Crumb does but--
- You know, sometimes it
makes it so you can relax
a little more.
We don't need to worry too much about it.
- We all know that Rosalind
Crumb takes all her clothes
off to poop and then refuses to wipe
for superstitious reasons
and takes a full bath
after every poop takes a
45 minute bath, every poop.
That sounds nice.
That's the way to live.
- I know someone who does that
- Is it you?
- For real.
Can I tell a short story?
- No.
- Okay.
- Gonna light someone up right now.
Just absolutely light someone on fire.
Amazing.
Daisy, what do you do?
Having discovered this electrical system,
what is it that you do right now?
- Wow, wow, wow.
- Raph, as many stories as
you want to be around for
your reactions to these mystery twists
have made it all worthwhile for me.
- Okay. So my, like my first instinct was
to go to the mushroom room,
but I don't want to
leave Mrs McCabbage here.
So, that one that goes towards a bedroom,
is that the one that Mrs McCabbage is in?
- Yeah, that's up near her bathroom.
That's where she's going.
- Can I--
What do we think, should I go there
or do I abandon her and
go to the mushroom room?
- You're doing a lot by yourself.
- Yeah it's a lot I don't know.
- I would say just in case it gets violent
or you get like--
- Does Daisy know that the elevator
goes down at three o'clock?
I don't think Daisy was
in the room for that.
- I don't know that.
- Yeah. I think it's up to you.
I think Daisy would
make whatever call feels
like a gut call for Daisy.
I'd say go for it.
- Okay.
I don't think I know so much
about the ups and downs of the building.
So I think I'll go to the
bedroom where Mrs McCabbage is.
- Okay, cool.
You go back up the hallway.
You see Milo and Basil being like,
hello there Miss
D'umpstaire good to see you.
Hello there Miss D'umpstaire.
- Hello, hello.
- So there's the door in the
bedroom wing that you know
that your five companions are in.
And then there's a bathroom
that Mrs McCabbage is in,
at the end of the hall.
You could probably knock
and join her in there
if you wanted to.
- Yeah, I would love to
join her for a little poo.
- Oh, cool.
Go ahead and move your figure.
Go ahead and move your figures
in Roll20 all the way--
It's just the far door.
- [Rekha] Yeah.
- [Grant] Yeah, see how high you roll
to see if you can join that lady to poop.
- Yeah, you see Mrs. McCabbage
is in there cleaning up
and you see that she
is taking a full bath.
She sh*t in the tub,
- Oh no honey.
- She's a widow.
- You're supposed to go in
the toilet, she's in the tub.
- Carlos is the under celebrated comedian
of this entire campaign.
- Oh yeah, oh yeah.
- Light speed moved Mrs
McCabbage to the tub
when I said she took a sh*t in the tub.
- I know, so funny.
- All these little things
happening in Roll20
that are so funny.
- She's sh1tting in the tub right now.
- Incredible Carlos,
the f*cking road runner
of visual gags in Roll20.
Unbelievable.
Cool, you go in,
you see that Mrs McCabbage
is seated on the toilet
with a closed lid, fully clothed
and just sort of breathing
heavily and looks
like she got done with a
cry in here by herself.
She looks up at you, who I
imagine is a little bit manic
having just cracked
something wide open here.
- Yeah.
- You cracked something wide open.
- And you see she says,
Right, oh, Miss D'umpstaire,
thanks for coming in and joining me.
- No problem.
I'll join anybody for a sh*t.
- You see she says,
oh I'm done, I'm done.
And she said, you are a while.
You were like a good 10, 15 minutes
- Honey, you know a raccoon's diet
doesn't fare too well on the bowels.
- That's right, that's right.
You look in here, you
see there's another door
in the bathroom.
- I certainly do.
- She says, right well,
you know, just sort of
wondering, but you know--
She smiles and just says,
well I suppose we'd better look around for
the ghost of my, my husband.
Or if anyone else saw anything.
What does Daisy do in this moment?
- Mrs McCabbage, she sees
this poor broken woman sitting
on a toilet.
She's got a little
toilet paper on her foot.
She just looks so sad.
And you know, she has this
secret, but she's like
I'm going to f*cking
crack this.
I'm going to help this woman.
And she goes,
Mrs McCabbage,
What if I told you, and this
is just raccoon speculation.
What if I told you that,
I don't know if your husband is a ghost
but he may be alive.
(thunder roars)
- What's that?
What do you mean?
- Well, I took a gigantic poop downstairs
and couldn't help but notice
certain circuitry in the room.
And I basically tell her about what I saw
- The Widow McCabbage looks,
like this is definitely well
over her head, you know?
But you get a sense from this woman
that she is not a woman of
letters, but she is quick.
And you're amazed at
after one or two questions
about like what you
are even talking about.
As soon as she realizes,
like, this is a brilliant--
This is like a genius level,
world-class spy criminal.
Not that she's aware that
you're a spy or criminal.
But he's like a genius is telling me
that my husband may still be alive.
She f*cking cans it with
the questions right away
and goes, right, all right,
well, how would we, if he's
if there's a chance that he's
still alive, then, then, Oh
how would we find him?
On that Nat 20 investigation,
this is the last thing I'll
give you on that Nat 20.
You think that the stuff goes into
another room here on the floor.
You could go back out into the hallway--
You know, the main door
to Squire Badger's bedroom
is out in the hallway where Milo and Basil
are stationed right now.
There is another door at
the top of this bathroom.
You see that Mrs McCabbage says,
I'll do anything I can to help
if it means that there's a chance--
If it means it's a chance,
anything I can to help
- I wipe her tears with some toilet paper.
And then I eat the toilet paper
because it's trash.
- Yeah.
- No one likes that.
- Can I--
First I want to go into this
bedroom through this door
but there's a mirror in here.
I want to look at that.
- Cool,
you look at the mirror in this bathroom.
Give me an investigation check.
- Mrs McCabbage,
This will sound crazy
but can you turn around
and close your eyes?
- She turns around and
closes her eyes, yep.
- 25.
- You dip into there.
Quickly, you see no sign of any
of the circuitry in this mirror
but I'm going to say on a 25--
That's a gold medal investigation.
I'll tell you,
the door at the top of the room is locked.
But,
even though a lock isn't that
much of an impediment to you,
it's even less of an impediment
to the 25 investigation
because old Badger wandering
in to take midnight shits,
locked himself out of his own bedroom.
One too many times and hid
a key underneath a tile
which you, on a 25 investigation
check, pull the key out
unlock the door and you can
advance into the next room.
No problem.
- Okay, great.
Now I don't know what we'll find in here
but it's certainly better
than talking in a bathroom.
So let's go.
- Hell yeah.
You dip into the next room.
You find yourself
in a massive walk-in
closet, wardrobe, armoire,
all kinds of stuff of Squire Badger's.
This is also the area of sort
of with his personal valet.
This is sort of like the
workroom where Mr Harding
would like dress Squire
Badger in the morning.
Go ahead and give me
another investigation here.
I'll also say to honor that
twenty-five investigation
which is super high, this key also works
to the next door and it wouldn't
make sense for the dude to
to have to take two sets.
Two sets of keys.
Yeah.
- Okay. And what am I
rolling, investigation?
- Investigation in this room, yes.
- Mrs McCabbage, this
is going to sound crazy.
Do you mind hiding in
that armoire for a second?
- Oh, you see she says,
Right, oh yes, I'll jump in the armoire.
I'll hide all you need.
And she leaps in and hides.
Carlos!
- A Nat 20.
I'm not sh1tting you.
I'm not sh1tting you I'll take a picture.
- What the f*ck.
- What is happening?
- This is Irene Adler.
This is the f*cking, this is it
Oh my God.
- Craziness.
- Good Lord.
- I am sweating my a*s
off because in reality
real Rekha doesn't
believe she's smart enough
to put together whatever
she finds in this room.
- Ah
- But we shall leave that on the floor.
- You got this.
- It's so scary being an
investigator because like,
okay well I've been spoon
fed a bunch of facts.
How am I going to put this together?
- Yeah. You've given me two plus two
but I'm supposed to find four from that.
- Is there an NPC who can say four to me?
- Literally. Look
why do you think I'm
carrying this b*tch around?
I need help.
- Okay. So that's a 29 with my whatever.
- Wow.
- Rekha, I'm about to send
you such a f*cking text
because you find, you know
exactly where to look,
you know where the f*cking trash is
and there's some stinky f*cking trash.
- And not the good kind.
- You see, as the Widow
McCabbage closes her eyes hiding
inside of a wardrobe, you move around
and look up
and see yet again
that there is a sort of small
chest full of cuff links
and broaches and little sort
of things, valuable things here
and there probably could
toss a couple of these
into your dress just to
sell if you want it to.
But looking through that,
you get to the bottom
and feel a strange push on the velvet.
You know this well, you smell
a certain kind of adhesive.
It's an adhesive that
stays sticky for a very
very long time, but isn't that strong.
And you've seen it in a
couple of places before.
Very useful for hiding
secret compartments.
And as you pull it out
you find Ambrose Harding's
little black book of names.
These are the names that
Gangie Green gave you
with dates attached in
Harding's f*cking handwriting.
This is...
proof positive.
And you look at the order
that the names were given in.
(text message dings)
- Oh, okay.
- You know that Gangie said
not everyone that Gangie got were badgers.
You looked up at them,
look at the dates on them.
- Oh, I see.
Okay.
I have separated them into categories.
Yes I have.
- That's what those are.
Okay. Interesting.
- Feel free to text me
back if you need to,
but I will also allow
if you want me to just--
I also think I can announce this as well
as you are looking at it.
You pull this book out.
This is, I mean, for someone that collects
blackmail this in Sylvester's
hands is Harding going away
for the rest of his life.
This is the end of Harding's life
you're holding in your hand.
- Do I have more room in
all my folds to stick this?
- You get your last bosom and tuck--
- Like a Mary Poppins bag?
- And you let yourself into
Squire Badger's bedroom.
You can move your figure
in a little bit further.
And I think as you move in
the Widow McCabbage starts looking around,
on that Nat 20 investigation,
I'm not even going to
make you look for it.
You see an enormous standing
mirror all the way out
facing out through one of the windows.
You see a portrait next
to it that you know is a trick portrait.
You swing it open.
There's a dozen breakers
behind that portrait
a dozen small little breakers.
(dramatic music plays)
And you see that not
only are there breakers.
There are switches underneath them
that create little networks.
Right now, for example, you see that
there is one that has the initials, CB-SR
- Cottonbottom something something?
- CB-SR.
That one is currently
connected to the main breaker
in the room for the mirror that is here.
The giant standing
mirror here in this room
that you see is also
connected to another breaker
that just has the initial T.
The main breaker that you can tell is
the breaker for the mirror
next to the trick portrait.
That main breaker, the top switch is MB,
MB is connected in a network to CB-SR,
which is also connected to T
- MB is master bedroom.
CB is something else, bedroom.
- Coke bottle?
(laughs)
- It's coke bottle.
I also though Cottonbottom,
but he doesn't live here.
- MB could also be master breaker.
It's the very top.
- That's true.
- But master bedroom's a cleaner theory.
- Yes, SR--
- CB-SR
- It's CB-SR, SR study room?
Or Seance room?
That's where--
(dramatic music plays)
- Oh Seance room.
- Because the ghost was there.
So there's a projection there.
And then the bathroom--
- T is toilet.
- T, toilet?
Or CB is also a bathroom
for the downstairs bathroom.
- You see, Rekha you look
for another one you see,
EW-WC
which is connected to the letter D.
- East wing water closet.
I see.
- Water closet is
connected to the letter D.
- Oh, VC - "vé cé."
- What?
- That's what euro
people call the bathroom.
- So water closet is connected
to the letter D right now
- Downstairs.
- Docks? Water closet to the docks.
- Oh interesting.
- Because that's where the projection was.
- Yeah.
- So I can, so this means you
can make projections appear
from, and in any of these places
- Wait so what was connected
to the Seance room.
Cause that's where--
- If I re-patch things, yeah.
- But what is it now?
- So right now, CB is SR
- CB-SR is one area.
- Oh sorry, sorry.
- CB-SR is one area,
it's connected to MB, which
you see is the top switch
and I think you think master
bedroom, which you think is
this is the one you're in right now.
- So is Connor in there right now?
- And it's also connected
to a third switch
that just says T.
- T which could be
they wouldn't be toilet
because WC is bathroom.
So it could, it could be--
- Tower?
- Tower.
- Tower.
So tower's currently not
connected to something
or it's connected to, yeah.
It's not connected to something right now?
- Tower is currently connected to
CB-SR
and to MB.
- Okay.
Okay, great.
So if I wanted to, I could
make an illusion come
from master breaker, whatever, here
to the tower or to the CB-SR,
which is probably the Seance room.
- Or does that mean that
something is in the tower
and it is being broadcast
to the Seance room and there.
- Yeah, that makes sense.
- Meaning that might be where Connor is.
- Go to the tower, go to the tower.
Yeah. We'll find--
- I mean, someone was
out there super violent
like something is happening up there.
- Yeah someone's guarding that area
so nobody comes up there.
So we, we think McCabbage is in the tower
and this I'm saying all to Mrs McCabbage,
partially, just like, you know
to have someone to talk to
- As you turn around, to
look at Mrs McCabbage,
you see her looking horrified,
(dramatic music plays)
standing by Squire Badger's desk,
holding letters
pulled from Squire Badger's desk.
- Mrs Cabbage, what is it?
- I am--
She goes to read the letter.
I am moving in darkness.
I am right behind you, always.
I am coming for you.
You should never have thought to cross me
all those who have paid the final price
the good Sir Ignatius paid the price
and all the rest that followed.
I am hungry.
The hunter catches his prey
and I shall send you and all
of your ill begotten family
to the darkest circle of hell.
The powers of the grave are
mine and mine alone to command.
And the curse is mine to wield.
Signed, Sylvester Cross.
You hear a scream from
deep within the mansion.
I'm going to need everybody
here to roll initiative.
- Wow.
- Jesus Christ.
- He's bad.
- Sylvester Cross though, what the f*ck.
- I thought you might be bad.
We'll see.
- No way.
- Okay. 17.
- Two.
(dramatic music intensifies)
- 11.
- Did anyone get above a 20?
Did anyone get above a 15?
- Yes.
- Oh, what did Lars get?
- I got 16.
- Lars got a 16.
What did the vicar get?
- I got a 17.
- It's not possible Grant.
It's not possible.
- Look at his dumb a*s smile.
- Aw, that's just Grant.
- You've been our f*cking--
Oh my God.
I can't believe I got m*rder mysteried.
I can't believe I got m*rder mysteried
- I can't believe I got
m*rder*d mysteried twice.
- I did this exact thing.
- Twice Sam, I've been
m*rder mysteried twice.
By the same people
- [Brennan] Incredible.
- This is why you were slow to
text me back, piece of sh*t.
- Okay. 17, 16.
Who got above a 10?
- I got a 10.
- What did Gangie get?
- I got an 11.
- Sylvester got a 10.
And then what did Daisy--
- I got a two you don't
need to consider me.
- I got a two as well.
- Okay, cool.
Ian you're first to act.
You guys hear a scream
coming from another wing of the house.
- Is that from Daisy?
- It sounds like one of the cleaning staff
- Okay. And I don't know anything
about what just happened with the letter?
- No.
- All right.
Yeah, I'm gonna,
I want to go to investigate
wherever the scream came from.
- Hell yeah.
You rush out of the room.
It looks like Milo and Basil are
going to kind of be right behind you
after you Lars, that's you.
- Okay and I'm close to--
Who's still in here?
Okay, I would like to
get some like sheets or
anything that I can use
as rope and tie Buckster Boyd up.
- Wait, are you on Sylvester's side?
- So that he can't move.
- What the f*ck is happening...
- Sorry, Ally.
I just hold on, Ally,
just text me real quick.
- I'm just kidding, I'm just kidding.
- Cool, cool, cool.
- Sorry that was a fake out.
Yeah. No, but I did think
that would be very funny
if it all of a sudden became PVP
- Huge PVP, right at the very end.
- Okay. No, I am going to--
- It's not even--
- Yeah we have a lot of episodes left.
- Yeah, I'm going to
head out the door as well
and go out and say like, what was that?
To them.
- Cool, I'm going to say, they look at you
like they know you're
not supposed to leave.
So either give me a persuasion
to kind of be like, hey, come on,
like, we just heard a scream to,
you know, it wasn't me,
whatever it was, you know?
So you can give me persuasion
or do you want to muscle past them?
You can, but it might
become violent again.
(text message dings)
- Yeah. I don't want that.
Let me see.
Yeah. I'll just roll a persuasion.
Almost a Nat 20,
15 on my persuasion.
- Cool, you bust out both
of these dudes look scared.
These are not soldiers.
These are footmen, you know?
So they look at you
see that it couldn't have
been you and go, like
- I say, what was that scream?
Whatever attacked me
could be attacking others.
- They are totally
bought and sold on that.
And they say, let's go find out!
And he take off with you
and the Vicar running towards
the sound of the scream.
- Amazing. Is that to the right?
I guess through this
little door right here.
- Yes to the right.
So you guys, you guys head
the f*ck out of there,
Gangie, that's going to be you.
- I would like to leave.
- Just for a minute.
- Yeah. Gangie,
I think it would occur to Gangie
that you can absolutely go
and investigate the scream.
Also, this is a great time to just
f*cking vanish if you want.
You're a f*cking shadow so
up to you, but you can
definitely investigate.
You can also make stealth checks
whatever it is you want to do
but your guards have just
booked it out of here.
- Where would I?
I can literally just go home?
- Not, not go home, but
I'm saying Gangie can do
whatever the f*ck he wants to do.
I don't want to make it like
you all have to go to
the scream if you want
because I know that some
of you were like arrested
and there had been a
conversation you guys had like
Hey Gangie is a f*cking ninja.
If we want to have someone out and about
who's just sort of like
going around and doing sh*t.
- I guess I'll get my key.
I'll get that little key back.
- Hell yes.
Go ahead,
go ahead Gangie and
give me a stealth check
if you'd be so kind.
- Oh my Lord.
- What?
- A natural 20 plus seven, 27.
(celebratory chime)
- Yes!
- Yes Katie!
- God damn.
- You look out, you have
this bandage around you.
You hear a scream.
You think about these
terrible f*cking badgers
and sweet Mrs Molesly,
but you also found out earlier
tonight had been let go.
- Yeah I'm pissed
- I think Gangie, you've about--
It's time to f*cking get to work.
Shoulder goes over you.
You guys see, Gangie
steps out into the hall.
Running.
Hits the other wall, runs
up the wall into the shadows
and is gone.
Just f*cking gone.
Mr. Green is f*cking vanished.
Katie move anywhere in
the house on a Nat 20.
I will not make you
roll from room to room.
Go ahead and give me a
perception check with advantage,
if you would be so kind
- 25 or
22, 25.
- 25. Incredible.
You are a tall fellow,
but damn are you lanky.
As I've said before
this place has a lot
of ventilation shafts.
And the cool thing about Gangie Green
is as you run up the
wall, you scurry literally
along the ceiling, like in that sneaky way
the way you went over to the
cemetery wall before. Elbow,
- Bam - hits a grate on one
of the air vents you sneak in.
And the last thing you do
as you are slithering in
is collapse your top hat
which accordions into your coat
and screw the shovel
head and the shovel back
off your shovel so that you
can get it around corners.
There are not just animals in the walls
but a specific animal, Gangie Green,
you are in the walls my friend.
God these Nat 20s are f*cking k*lling it.
- These are crazy.
- Katie on that Nat 20, you tell me--
So Mr. Gilfoyle is one
of many people rushing
towards the sound of the scream.
Do you want to try to hit
him right now in the chaos
but while there's a lot
of other people around or
do you want to hold off
but it's either it's six and one--
It's truly whatever your character feels
like doing, there's risk
involved either way.
- I think, because I am kind
of like a shadow person.
That's people aren't going
to pay much attention to.
I can do it now, even
though there's a bunch
of people around, I feel
like I can safely get it.
- Cool. Awesome.
That's very f*cking cool.
We will come to you in a second.
Slinking your way through the walls.
Just this f*cking scary criminal weasel.
Amazing. Sylvester.
You're the last one left in the room.
- No, is that correct?
I believe Buckster Boyd is still with me.
- Oh, Buckster is still with you.
That's correct.
Yes. Yes.
- Well, I think
that Sylvester runs to
the sound of the scream,
but before he goes, I think he has a
a quick word with Buckster Boyd.
(dramatic music plays)
- You know I can't tell you how
pleasant it is to once again
have mystery coursing through me,
you and I, I believe are cut
from perhaps a more similar
cloth that I once thought.
Do you feel it?
- Could be detective although--
- The evening of mystery.
That thrill of excitement.
I know I do.
- As a
somewhat professional businessmen.
I can't help but enjoy the mystery
because it means a swindling has occurred.
But I can't shake this
awful feeling Detective.
You know, my father
he traveled across the
country for the gold rush.
And was swindled at every last dime.
On his deathbed, he took me by the hand,
looked me deep in my eyes and said
if you're not doing the swindling
then you're the one
doing the being swindled.
Detective, I'm not swindling tonight.
- Whew.
- Let's investigate.
- Sorry, what was that?
- Sylvester.
- Just a moment.
Just a moment.
- Sylvester,
You stroll out of here.
Daisy. You are actually--
No you and Buckster have
the same initiative roll.
Buckster do you accompany
Sylvester down the hall?
- Absolutely.
- [Brennan] Cool.
You guys both stroll on
out of here and then Daisy,
you're the last to go.
You hear the scream as well
in the bedroom with Squire Badger--
In Squire Badger's bedroom
with the Widow McCabbage.
- Okay. And, and so sorry
I kind of lost a little bit of track.
Where is this scream coming from?
- From the leisure wing, from the
where the Seance room
and the library were.
- Is there a way,
there's no way for me to access the tower
or anything from this area that I'm in?
Like I see a fireplace.
Is there like a chimney
that I f*cking squirrel up?
Like a squirrel?
- You could give me, you could
give me an acrobatics check.
To try to squirrel up the chimney.
- Uh oh, okay.
I'll do an acrobatics check.
Just to see
- Give me acrobatics
- Mrs McCabbage.
I know we're at a time of crisis.
- Right oh, I'll look away,
you see she puts the letters down.
She crawls under the bed.
- Daisy,
Use your instincts.
They've gotten you this far
but I feel the stink
of Sylvester in there.
Don't let it distract you.
19.
- Hell yeah.
19 is really, really good.
You get part way up the chimney.
Part way up the chimney sort
of scrounging around up there.
And as you get up the
chimney a little bit here
you do not think this is a
secret way to get to the tower.
However, a 19 is good enough as you are
on your way down to hit the flue
and you see that you move
it from open to closed
to a third setting that opens
the secret door in the back
of the chimney, into the
next room that you hear
footsteps of Sylvester
and Buckster walking
out of as the chimney opens
with the chimney behind it.
So you now know that there's a secret door
in between the two chimneys
that connects those two rooms.
- Absolutely gonna throw up.
Okay, great.
- Wait, which--
The Molesly room plus the--
- Molesly's chimney and
Squire Badger's chimney have
a secret door connection.
- Weird, what's going on there?
- That's his nanny.
- Daisy, go ahead and
give me an insight check
with advantage if you'd be so kind
- Mrs McCabbage,
are you still under the bed?
- La la la la la la.
- Okay, I smell the stink
of Sylvester in this room.
Lord, do not let it affect my judgment.
Okay, that's a Nat one.
Plug my nose plug my nose.
You said with advantage?
- With advantage yeah.
- 10.
- Cool.
- I think this is, I'll
give it to you on of 10.
(dramatic music plays)
The existence of this
secret passage were it to
become public knowledge
would hurt the alibi
of anyone who was being kept in this room
in the same way that
Sylvester was able to prove
that a secret door meant
that a third figure could
sort of abscond or who could
enter this secret door proved
that someone being kept
in that upstairs bedroom could have left.
We're going to cut to
the leisure wing as Lars,
the Vicar Ian, Milo and Basil.
And then Milo and Basil are the first
because I think Sylvester
and Buckster had that
moment of conversation.
You guys rush into the billiards
room in the leisure wing.
Everyone here make a
constitution saving throw
a constitution saving throw.
So this is Lars and Ian
- 10.
- 8.
- Lars and Ian, you
become physically nauseous
as you behold the carnage
filling the billiards room.
As you walk in, many others have gathered.
There are screams.
People are shouting.
(screams)
You can hear,
Mr Gilfoyle was being like,
everyone be calm, be calm, be calm.
At the back of the room
are the dead bodies
of the Lady Constance
Brockhollow and her husband,
Dr. Corbin Magpie.
On the back wall of the billiards wing.
You see that there's
obvious signs of struggle.
The billiards table is like cracked.
There's bloods scattered all around
and on the back wall is a mess
written in scrawled writing
in the billiards room
are the words:
I wield the curse.
I hold the soul.
I am the hunter.
And you see a long
canine head drawn in blood
with sharp teeth.
- Okay. Where was everyone?
Is everyone accounted for?
What happened?
Those who were here,
what do you say happened?
(text messages dings)
- Are you using a skill
check here to calm everyone
down or you're using a
character ability, Raph?
- [Raphael] Let's say,
well, can I,
check investigation?
- Yes, go ahead and give
me an investigation check.
- God damn it, nine.
- Okay.
You don't look and see any clues, but you
do see people here that you can tend to.
(text message dings)
You can make like an investigation check.
You can make a persuasion check.
You can make insight checks,
try and see what you're looking at.
You also have abilities.
Like you have,
your soothing words feature
that you haven't used yet
Once per long rest, you
can cast calm emotions.
You see that people
are really freaking out
and looking agitated right now.
- Can I do two?
Well, if I do a calm
emotions, I would also
want to do persuasion.
Yes. Go ahead and give
me a persuasion check.
Or actually--
Cast calm emotions first.
What do you say to
everyone to calm them down,
as you hear screaming
and the staff are trying
to contain people?
- Everyone, technically
the danger is gone.
(all laugh)
Technically the damage
has already happened.
And the good thing is the rest
of us are safe for right now.
- Incredible Raph.
Raph, I rolled a natural four
on the saving throw for that,
people calm themselves,
looking at something so
diabolically horrible.
You
look and see,
the obvious which is this f*cking
Everyone is horrified.
They listen to you and are calm.
Raph, with the success of that spell ,
you can go ahead and
make a persuasion check.
You can grant yourself
or anyone else you would like to advantage
on charisma checks during this scene.
Your calm emotions
basically means that like
people will listen to you.
So go ahead and roll this
persuasion check with advantage.
- First roll was a seven, go again.
Ah, an 11.
- Cool.
You started asking me the, what happened.
There is a babble of confusion.
No one has any answers.
Immediately what you see is that--
We're going to introduce
the last character
from the dramatis personae document
that we have not yet met.
I think it's the only character--
One of the only that characters
that we haven't met yet.
You see this kilt wearing,
red coated sheep comes in.
He goes, this sort of
Scottish sheep, big red coat
holding a bottle of whiskey.
He goes, I'm late, I was downstairs.
I came up to look for Dr Magpie
cause you know, it's getting late.
And we're still not sure what's happening,
where the constables are,
it's pouring cats and dogs.
So I came in here
thinking I get a wee game
of billiards in.
And I come in and look and I cry out.
And the med staff come in because
there was a lot--
A hard scream happened,
they were m*rder*d.
Look, someone's done this.
And you see someone says like,
what the devil could crack
that billiards table in half?
It's enormous
Something from beyond the grave.
Some strength of the devil.
Lady Lucretia goes
I've been f*cking saying it all night.
Everything is real.
And now my niece has been
k*lled by devils and ghosts
and goblins!
- Lady Lucretia, Lady Lucretia.
There's no such thing as ghosts
- Get f*cked my guy.
(laughs)
- Do we know who screamed?
- Was it Constance?
- Was it like the little kilt man?
- The sheep.
Yes, Lord MacCrae screamed
I screamed at the top of my lungs.
Look my god, their
entrails are on the ground.
He held them in the wall.
The hunter and all this daft--
What in the name of the
Lord is going on here?
Mr. Harding
speaks up and says
there would appear to be
a rather serious threat
written in blood above the
bodies of the deceased.
And perhaps the symbol of some kind,
you see he looks around and
says a rather canine figure.
And,
the canines present
in the room right now
are Lars Vandenchomp.
- Yeah.
- Yeah, yeah.
- Strong enough to break a
f*cking pool table, yeah.
- Milo.
- Milo Snout,
although his muzzle is not nearly so long
as the one in this pictogram
and the last member of
the canid family here.
Mr. Sylvester Cross.
- The very same.
Mr Gilfoyle speaks up and says,
Detective Cross.
You actually--
I am going to ask everyone
here to tell me in this moment
if you're looking around, are
you making an insight check?
Are you looking for like now
that everyone is in the room and Daisy
do you join everyone in the room or no?
- No.
- Dope, where does Daisy go
with the Widow McCabbage?
- Okay. So I've basically
just gone into this bedroom
to Mrs Molesly's room.
And Miss McCabbage is
still in the other room.
Oh God,
What do we think?
Sam, what do you think?
We're the only two texting.
- I don't know.
I mean, I can't tell you, right?
Like my character knows
nothing of what you know.
Like my character right now does not-
- No, I'm asking you as a person.
Cause I don't trust anybody.
- As a person,
I want you by my side
because I'm beginning to feel
like I'm at a serious
disadvantage in this game.
- Yes.
- No, no, no.
- I can't go in that--
Lars and Sylvester are f*cking dumb asses.
I don't want to go in there.
So I have to do something else.
- Daisy, the only thing I'm going to
tell you right now, Daisy
is you don't know any
of the stuff going on this other room.
You just know, the stuff with the letters.
I think Daisy is in a situation
to where she has all this information
and has to give it to some of her allies.
- I know I know, and who are my allies?
It's only Buckster really.
And I kind of them over
on a business decision.
- I don't know that either.
- That's true, you don't
- I'm going to intercede as a
little bit of a referee here.
I think the players are
very rattled in this moment,
perhaps even more than
the characters would be.
So I don't think Daisy is paranoid enough.
You have information.
And unless-
- You think I would go to that room?
- I don't know that you would
go to that room necessarily.
But I think he would try to like--
What more is there to investigate?
You know, about the breakers, you know
that these illusions can show
up in various parts of the house.
And I don't think you've still
told people all the sh*t you
found out in the study,
like Colonel Hawkins.
- Yeah, I was--
- That's the thing is you
have so much information.
If Daisy--
Daisy has to make a decision
either she like sees value
in continuing to get paid
by her incredibly wealthy benefactor.
If she does you better go
find your wealthy benefactor
and do the you get paid
to do you're on the clock.
Like, unless you're, unless
you've seen something
that would make Daisy suddenly quit
on the spot in the middle of the night.
But if you aren't going to quit
you should go tell your
boss what you found.
- Alright, I'll do it.
I'll do it.
And I'm taking Mrs McCabbage with me.
- Cool.
You walk in with Mrs McCabbage.
There's a crowd gathered in the hallway
and just inside the entrance
of the billiards room
some things are going to go
down here very, very quickly.
The tension is too real.
There's now two gruesome
and violent murders.
Clearly occult.
And I am going to need
everyone here to tell me
in this critical moment
where someone's going to do
something or take action.
Everyone tell me, what you are doing
and what skill check you were taking,
including Mr Gangie
Green, hidden in the vents
above the room directly above
Mr Gilfoyle. I will say this as well.
Mr. Green.
You're about six feet up above
Mr Gilfoyle as the groundskeeper.
You also tend to the
wildlife here on the estate
including the lake and the
rivers, many fine fish.
You have a length of fishing line
and a hook and you are up in the ceiling.
- Oh yeah, I'll do that
I'll go fishing.
Take the little key.
- Incredible. We're going to go,
in the same initiative
order that we have here.
We're going to start with Vicar Prescott.
Tell me if there's some things
you want to do a perception
or an insight or some other kind
of information gathering thing here.
- Can I cast the detect
thoughts spell on Lars?
- Yes, go ahead and cast
detect thoughts on Lars.
I'm gonna need a wisdom
saving throw from Lars.
- I'm not very wise
That's an 18
- Unfortunately, that is going to bypass--
That is a strong enough saving throw
that you cannot be certain,
Vicar.
- Do I notice him casting something on me?
- You can choose to fail this saving throw
if you would like Lars.
- Yeah.
- Awesome.
What is going on in
Lars his mind right now,
that the vicar can see?
- I'm not very good at public speaking.
And you know, if I could
make a speech like Sylvester
I'd probably say something
like who would draw a photo
of themselves on a scary note.
We should pay attention to
the first people who spoke.
You know, it's clearly the bad
guys! Is the Armadillo here?
Is anything bolted to the floor?
Maybe I could sniff it
and then I could crack this case wide open
I'm always in the shadow.
And sometimes I like it.
And now I don't
- Vicar. You are certain that
Lars is not the m*rder*r.
You are certain.
- Okay.
- Going next in the initiative order
we are going to move to Lars.
- I start crying, no.
Is the Armadillo here?
- Yes, the Armadillo is here.
- I--
No, I can't do anything aggressive
because everyone's thinking maybe it's me.
Okay. Is anything bolted?
Do I see anything that looks--
- Give me a perception check.
- It's a Nat one.
(sad tone plays)
- Oh, Lars.
I'm so sorry.
- A Nat one.
- Nat one, I'm so sorry.
You look around you lock
eyes with Sylvester.
You know,
You don't get any sh*t about the room,
but you know that Sylvester
is in a lot of trouble.
Because,
that f*cking blood painting on the wall,
that horrifying ghoulish
symbols he painted
under that message.
It looks like a fox.
Okay, for my movement
can I go up to Armond?
Can I just stand kind of like next to him?
- Yes. You absolutely can.
Absolutely can.
- Oh it's pretty scary.
- Yeah. I'll tell you what,
I've had about enough frights
and scares for a lifetime.
I tell you, this whole
country is bad, bad, bad.
I don't like it.
- I agree.
Oh one more scare.
And then I push his stomach,
like I'm trying to tickle him.
Like I'm very forcefully
trying to tickle him.
Ah got you!
- Give me a medicine check real quick.
- Just a casual tickle between friends.
- With dead bodies in the room.
- That's a 13.
Oh got you!
- Please, please, ow, ow, ow.
- I just barely touched you.
- No, I'm hurt, I'm hurting, I'm hurt.
- Was it from a broom?
- A broom?
- I mean a shovel.
- You see he says, a shovel?
- Make an insight check for me.
- 22.
- He looks at you and says, no.
Why would it be?
Why would it be from a shovel?
I don't reckon why that would be the case.
On a 22 insight,
seems convincing to you.
- I know you're lying you f*ck.
- What the heck?
Lying about what?
Why would I lie about whether
or not I got hit by a shovel?
- I'm going to k*ll you.
And that's the end of my turn.
- And then you turn and
say I'm going to k*ll you.
You feel a movement behind
you, Lars, as you say that
and the Lady Eugenia Bristlebrush says,
and I'm going to k*ll you too, you f*ck.
You nasty little f*ck.
I did this, and points up
to the blood on the wall.
- Welcome to Europe,
this is how we all talk.
- The whole thing is clearly Bristlebrush.
It was her from the beginning.
This was all a waste of time.
- Why did she come to this party?
- You little boar, I just met you
and I hate you, I hate you so much.
That is going to be Gangie's turn,
still riding the high
of that Nat 20 stealth.
Go ahead and roll me a sleight
of hand with advantage,
if you'd be so kind.
Also, I will remind you that one of your--
That you actually can do
this as a bonus action
and can take another because
you are a thief subclass
and can do something else
this turn, if you want.
- I got a 20.
- 20, that's silver metal difficulty.
I am going to say,
That--
Ah, you have advantage on the roll.
I am going to make a perception check
against you from the room,
but 20 is silver metal.
So I'm going to do it with disadvantage.
The room gets a plus five.
So I need the lower of these two rolls
to be a 15.
We're going to roll them in
the Box of Doom right now.
(dramatic music plays)
- Scary.
- Let's see if Gangie gets spotted.
- Appropriate
- Makes sense.
Roll number one
- Roll number two.
- What?
- Gangie, as everyone turns
to look at Sylvester Cross
up in the vent, your beady
little eyes stare out
a little fish hook
drops on a piece of line
into the inside pocket
of Mr. Gilfoyle's jacket,
just past his lapel
and knowing how do this exactly,
you wait for him to take a step.
And as he steps into the vent Gangie,
you have got the key to the elevator.
- Hell yes.
Good job Katie.
- f*cking incredible.
Gangie, you still have an action.
Is there anything else
that you want to do?
- I want to--
So I don't know at this
point, anything about
Sylvester?
I feel like there needs to be
some more information sharing
between people.
- Yes, I think so as well,
but I think right now--
- It's hard to do anything.
- Yes, absolutely.
I think that all of your characters
are feeling that as well.
It's like you guys split up,
went and got some good good dirt.
And now--
So I think Gangie, maybe
he would just return
to a common meeting place.
Is there a place that you would want--
That you would go back to,
to think, to meet everybody?
- The Seance room?
- Cool, yeah.
I think you could--
- Yeah, you could whisper maybe to me,
would my dog ears be able
to pick something up?
- I'm going to say on that.
Yeah. I think that
absolutely as your action.
- Whisper, Seance room.
- You hear a little piece of c*ck slang
whispered through there.
And,
know the Seance room.
And you flit out of there.
Gangie is hiding in the dark Seance room.
Ready to go.
Incredible.
We are going to go down the
initiative order Sylvester,
you are next.
- Yes.
Well, I'm a world famous inspector.
So I believe I'm going
to use this moment to
do an investigation check.
See if any clues present
themselves to my keen eye.
- Go ahead and give me
your investigation check,
which you can do as a bonus action.
- 26.
- Ooh.
- Gold.
- Now--
And what are you doing with your--
That's cursory.
You look around with the 26.
I'm going to text you a
bunch of stuff right now.
Is there anything else you're doing
in this moment that you would
want to throw another check
someone else's way like insight
check on somebody or throw something else
someone else's way?
- I would like
to run an insight check...
On...
Yeah, on Armond Armadillo.
- Go ahead and give me an insight
check if you'd be so kind.
- 22.
- 22?
He looks very frightened
of Lars and Eugenia.
He looks really, really frightened.
- He's sandwiched between
two people who are going,
I want to k*ll you.
- Cool, sure, yeah.
- After one of them just tickled him
- I'm glad that's how I
use that insight check.
I'm glad that's--
That turned out to be the right move.
- I don't know.
I have a feeling we need a
really high a*s insight check
to get anything about this doof.
This red herring doof.
(dramatic music plays)
(text message dings)
- Sending you texts
Grant, hold on one second.
- Literally. No one cares Grant
about those.
- I'm so upset.
- [Brennan] Cool.
- Texting Grant curses.
- So Sylvester,
you look around the room
with that incredible investigation check.
You do your insight check
against Armond Armadillo.
And I'm going to say,
as you're doing that,
Daisy you enter the room
with the Widow McCabbage
and stand next to Buckster.
I'm going to let Daisy and Buckster
tell me what they're going to do
before we move to Sylvester again.
Daisy and Buckster at
the end of this round
as you see Sylvester making
his investigation check.
What do you all do?
- I think I say to Daisy,
where have you been?
- I took an atomic D20 level sh*t.
And then you won't
believe what I found out.
I tell Buckster everything except,
I can't even keep track
of what I have discovered
during this time away.
- Huge.
- I tell Buckster everything except,
the ledgers which I think I
already didn't tell him about.
So I tell him about the weird
electricity production thing.
I tell him,
a piece of information
that I texted Sam already.
- So you're telling me about
Colonel Hawkins, the study,
the medal of Valor, Colonel
Hawkins stealing stuff
from the study, the electrical
stuff in the bathroom.
Widow McCabbage.
Do you tell him about
the Sylvester letters
in the Squire's bedroom?
- Okay. Yes.
And I'm going to say that now.
I saw this letter from Sylvester.
and I show it to him.
It says, I'm moving in the darkness.
I'm coming for you.
You should have never thought to cross me.
The good- I got the good Sir Ignatius.
Hunter is the capture's prey.
Power is at the grave of
whatever. Sylvester Cross.
- Buckster?
- Buckster is,
as shocked as he is,
he's used to pivoting on a dime.
It's kind of in his nature
to like realize suddenly
who his enemies are and aren't.
And so he says to Daisy,
let me get this straight.
How big a sh*t are we talking?
(laughs)
- Buckster, if would it that it were,
I had a flash bulb camera.
I would have taken a picture
and given it to you, it was crazy.
- You'll set off epilepsy.
- All eyes turned to Sylvester
as Mr. Gilfoyle says,
I dare say that symbol on the wall
looks much like a fox.
- All eyes turn to Sylvester.
Sylvester, You have time to say something
in this moment before these people
move into action against you.
- My word,
my handwriting's a perfect match.
- Detective,
that's what we call
negotiating against yourself.
- I'm shaking, during this
whole time I've been shaking
and I hold up a piece of paper.
And it's the letter I
found on the Squire's desk.
- A reveal many episodes in the making
of a text between me and Rekha.
When Sylvester saw the
page disappear in the study
all the way at the beginning
upon discovering the
dead Squire Badger,
Daisy D'umpstaire was the one that took it
- The one that said, I'm afraid.
- Sylvester Cross, I am afraid.
You hold the paper up.
The profundity of this gasp,
(gasps)
the staff seizes you, they rush at you.
Jeremy screams, you m*rder*d my father,
you m*rder*d my sister,
you hear from downstairs.
Bang, bang, bang on the front door.
Everyone turns to look,
the staff look and--
Hold on, stop.
You see that Mr. Gilfoyle
rushes to the steps and says,
the door is open.
Please come in, the doors
swing open and you hear,
alright, alright everyone at peace.
We've come as soon as we can.
The roads they're all
flooded on the way here.
The constabulary has arrived.
- Absolutely horse sh*t service.
- I mean, what was that
was like, I mean, honestly
for me, that felt like
it was at least 12 hours.
- Good god, if I have to
say, and I have to say
I believe 80% of this town's budget
goes to this constabulary?
You might want to rethink that.
- I don't imagine this
will end well for me,
but that was like 12 hours.
- A whole other person has been m*rder*d.
You have a whole nother
m*rder to investigate.
- Two, two!
- Two, two other murders.
- You guys go down and see
a group of police officers
in the entrance hall.
As, as Sylvester, you are escorted down.
One of the constables
immediately manacles you
behind your back.
You see that there are three dogs
and two cats amongst these constables.
A very like, snugged faced
cat looks up and says,
Oh right, oh right everyone be calm.
The name's Constable Nettles.
Everybody remain calm.
The constabulary has arrived,
and we will see justice done.
Mr. Gilfoyle says, it was Sylvester Cross
he's m*rder*d Squire Brockhollow,
his daughter and her husband.
And he says,
looks like a case for the
Tufting Meadows Constabulary.
I want to say Scotland Yard
but we're not from Scotland Yard.
You know, there's a specific place.
And you see they say,
do you have an area where
this criminal may be kept?
And you see that Mr. Gilfoyle says,
well, it's an old home.
That was once a Roman fortress.
So I am a little bit shocked
to say that we do
actually have an oubliette
in the wine cellar.
Very well.
Mr. Cross, you're under arrest
from his Majesty's Royal police.
And we're going to toddle
off with you right now
until such time as we can arrive
and we can investigate the crime scene.
- So long as you leave the wine.
- Can I interject?
- Yes you can Daisy.
- Can I like--
Can not all four of you
constables go to this one man?
Can one of you stay here?
Because I have some things
I would like sorted out.
And I hold up the black book of names.
Yeah.
- Hell yes.
Hell yes.
So first of all, what
a reveal of that page?
Jeremy Brockhollow is staring
daggers at Sylvester Cross.
- Wait,
the reveal of the page
is just a page that says, Sylvester Cross,
I'm afraid?
- In Squire Badger's handwriting.
- Yes.
You see, some of the police walk off
with Mr. Gilfoyle and
Mr Harding to go to--
And with Mr. Banks to
go to the wine cellar
to literally throw
Sylvester into a jail cell.
Lars, you're standing here
looking and being like,
you know, f*ck could it be?
Daisy Officer Nettles holds
out a hand to you and said--
You hand the black book.
He says, stop.
Don't let that turtle go one step further.
I said turtle, you're supposed to--
Don't don't you go no wheres.
- Wow, such authority.
- And you see that these cops arrest
Ambrose Harding as well.
Does anyone else--
So Lars, you remember, Gangie talking
about the Seance room,
Buckster, Daisy, Ian
in all the chaos,
is there anything else that you are doing.
Are you going to stay down
and deal with the cops?
You can try to manage people
- I'm staying among the police
because I don't want to
be unseen by the police.
I have a feeling that
my neck is on the line.
I want to be very exposed
as a means of overcompensating for my--
- You are down in the entrance hall baby.
Daisy, what are you up to?
- I am,
kind of cycling through that list
of names that I just
gave the Constable to see
if there's a pattern
and if I should also
accuse Gangie of something.
- [Brennan] Got it.
- Raph, what is the Vicar doing?
- So as the town's chaplain,
I'm going to be with the police
as they investigate the case.
- In that case Brennan,
sorry I change my mind.
I think I heard Gangie in his
thieves cant on the way out.
And I'm going to go to the Seance room,
I have some business to discuss with him.
- Okay, you slip over to Gangie.
Ally, what is Lars doing?
- Same, going to Gangie.
- Can I actually also go to Gangie then?
Because that's what I would do.
- Cool, so only Ian is gone.
Gangie. What are you
doing in the Seance room,
as you overhear all this
commotion downstairs?
- Just,
relaxing.
(laughing)
- You are,
kicking it.
- Just kicking it.
- Can I say that before
Sylvester gets put away,
I give him one last look
and just shake my head
and turn away from him.
That's what I do.
- Daisy shakes her head at you Sylvester,
as you are marched into
the depths of Loam Hall.
The police march you down
alongside Mr Gilfoyle
and Jeremy Brockhollow with you.
You see the Lady Lucretia
is there and says,
to think all this time you've been saying
the spirits are not real,
clever ruse Mr Fox to
throw us off your trail.
As a master of a necromantic arts,
summoning these dark forces,
you wicked, wicked fox.
Jeremy says,
I hope that you rot in the tower of London
for the rest of your God forsaken life
but we can get that rotting
started here in Loam Hall.
You are shoved down a
pit, fall into darkness.
And land in the oubliette at
the bottom of the wine cellar.
- Well, that's what we get
from trusting Fox News.
- Oh brother.
(outro theme plays)
And that's all for this episode
of Mice & m*rder.
Tune in next week for
another thrilling episode
- I have recognized
in this house,
five criminals.
- Well, this is why you
don't get close to people.
I thought I was the one,
one that's like the criminal,
two that had the secrets.
I can't live this way anymore.
This is my last ride.
- Change of plans or stay on track?
- Change of plans.
