that are being fought over
and also menaced by various
otherworldly entities and forces.
We met some of these entities and forces,
Red's relationship to the Big Bad Wolf.
Cinderella made contact with Rosamund.
The fairy with turquoise
hair contacted Prince Gerard
and the Golden Goose herself gave wing to-
and the Golden Goose herself gave wing to-

- You didn't say a damn thing, Murph.
(all laughing)
- I told you everything.
- You didn't tell me it was my fairy.
- Oh, whoa.
- A lot of strange things,
a lot of very strange and
fascinating things happened.
As well-

the Big Bad Wolf is a fairy?

met too many fairies.
He did not have little wings on his back.
He did not grant any wishes or
swing a magic wand anywhere.
But it's hard to tell if

bearing new forms from this
version of fairytale land
that is rent a little bit more asunder
by the forces of horror.
We return now to a location
partway between places

on the road towards Shoeburg
once again, but partway between
the Kingdoms of Greenleigh
and Reverie world,
and partway from the
fallen Kingdom of Marienne.
With that, we begin to move.
(thunder crashes)
- Oh wow, beats to study to.
(all laughing)
- [Siobhan] Wow, I'm
in the zone right now.
- Oh hell, yeah.

- A small roadside tavern
on the way to Shoeburg,

thundering rain outside
as a sign hangs flapping
in the driving torrent.
Here it stands, the last drinking hole
for those ne'er-do-wells
that tread their way
to that city of sin.
You approach now the c*ck
& Toad, a roadside tavern.

(Brennan chuckles)
- [Brennan] You could tell me.
- The c*ck & Toad.
- c*ck & Toad.
(Brennan laughing)

It's got a rooster and a toad on the side.
- Yeah, of course.
(Ally giggles at tavern name)
- You're giggly today.
- I am giggly, I'm giggling.
I'm just so happy to be back.

- A small sputtering
fire inside of the tavern
- A small sputtering

hosts a number of armed
mercenaries and warriors,
these fairytale lands.
Over by the bars are a
number of creatures sat,
a bartender with moody expression
and a scar over the face that
seems to shimmer with ice
as though wounded by a magic blade.
Various other denizens of the bar
move about the place we see.
It seems to be a strange peddler,
seller of wares,
some perhaps more magical than others,
occupies a table off in the corner
and at the end of the bar,
a giant dish with a face on it
orders yet another drink,
leaning its ceramic body
against the railing of the bar.
Arriving here in this place one by one,
we're returning, convening, let me ask,
who's the first to arrive
and if you could describe
your arrival to the c*ck & Toad
and also what you look
like if you look different
in this new incarnation of your story.
- Do we wanna roll for initiative?
- Yeah, roll for initiative,
let's do it that way.

- I was gonna go first, but you know.

What did Mother Goose get?

- Rosamund, you are the first
to arrive in this place.
Coming out of the pouring rain,
who do we see approaching?
- You see two cloaked and hooded figures.
One is me and the other one
is a bunch of woodland
creatures in a cloak.
It's like built out to look
as intimidating as possible.
And I come into the inn and
take a seat quietly by the fire,

don't talk to anyone
with my back to the wall
so I can see what's going on.
- You have memories of the friends
that you attempt to reconvene with.
You've been traveling for many long days
from the Kingdom of Reverie.
Your bodyguard, a roiling
swarm of woodland creatures
in a set of clothes stolen
potentially from someone
you have either k*lled or just found dead,
you see leans kind of heroically
on a knee, which is again,
just made of swarming rats.
And you see an owl's face
appear out from a hood.
- Oh.
- (Owl hoots)
- Who exactly.
- (Owl hoots)
- [Brennan] You see-
(All chuckling)
You see that entering
shortly after you is Ylfa.
You see that entering
shortly after you is Ylfa.
Ylfa, would you describe your
character as they approach.
- I was gonna try and start
with a strider cloak up, but-
- Strider, dude.
- If we have to enter-
- [Siobhan] Oops, All Striders
- You don't have to, you
wanna already be here?
- No, I'll enter, why not?
- Okay.
- I think that I probably,
it's like the sound
of a like a dog, like a wet
dog with like chains on it
running towards the door.
And then I kind of stand
back up from my all fours,
hide under my hood.
I definitely think it's like all shadow
and a little bit of fur.
I think I come in, take
notice of the exits
and then maybe go order a
Pimmsless Pimm's cup from the bar.
- You walk up to the bar
and go to order a drink.
- Isn't that just fruit in a cup?
- Yeah.
- [Brennan] It's just fruit.
- Pretty much ginger ale with
a lethal amount of garnishes.
(all laughing)
I say, "Garnish me, Daddy."
(all laughing harder)
- I like this Red.

- The bartender looks at you and says,
"You want extra cherries in that?"
- I want one of everything.
If you've got a Gibson onion
back there, throw two in.
- God, I think haven't opened
the Gibson onion jar in-
- If you need help opening it,
I open a-, I have a huge animal paw.
- You open your huge animal paw and he,
the guy holds his hands up and says,
"Gibson onion it is.
You can have the whole jar if you want."
- Yes, please.
- You get a whole jar of weird, naked,
pale white little onions
exploding in brine.
- With one cherry.
- Who's the onion skinner?
They've done a great job.
- Oh, that'd be Pete.
And you look out and you just
see he's gesturing to a cow
out in the back.
- I cheers the jar of onions at the cow.
- Little girl.
- [Brennan] You see-
(Emily chuckling)
Little girl, do you have
enough onions to share?
- Do we know each other?
- Yes, so essentially to reiterate,
'cause I know it's very
trippy and confusing,
you have the full complement of memories
of your previous life and you identify
as having lived both lives,
so you basically have this like-
- So I recognize Rosamund.
- You recognize Rosamund immediately.
- Is that gonna get more and more diluted
if we potentially keep dying?
- It's really bad for
you to keep dying, yeah.
- So we have two full lives
of like memories in our head.
- In a lot of places there's
enough significant overlap,
like your important
relationships are the same.
A lot of events actually
end up being the same.
And also if you think about the fact
that like in any given moment,
how much of your life are you remembering?
Like you're not remembering,
you're not actively scanning through
the security cam footage
of your entire life
in every moment, so it's
something that actually is pretty,
is weirdly comfortable up
until you try to remember
something where there is a
big difference between both.
- [Ally] Okay, cool.
- Okay, I think I see
Princess Rosamund and perk up
and I think that like
when I met you before,
like I was like a little
girl and so I still thought,
"Oh, maybe I'll be a princess someday."
And so I still have that a little bit
so I like try and look
kind of like stately.
- [Ally and Lou] Oh.

I like tuck my fur behind my ears.
- [Ally] Some mud smears.

die for (imitating a growl).

blossomed into a young lady.

The clothes really, oh actually,

really frightening to look.

I give him all the onions.
- You see that these owl head like warrior
who you're realizing as you
kind of see, you're like,
oh, that's just an owl in the hood
that's standing on the other animals,
nods, reaches a hand and kind of like-
- I help him.
- [Brennan] Takes that.

(Brennan imitates owl)
I could feed it to you, whoa, okay, here.
- [Siobhan] They're surprisingly dextrous.
Takes them a second, but they
like to do it themselves.
(Brennan imitates jar
lid popping, drinking)
- Just the jar disappears
down into the torso.
- Don't worry about the glass.
- I wasn't.
- I did for a long time.

- They seem fine.

see that that Pib is like

These are like darker blue boots,
I have a new cape and I have these
two little daggers by my side.
- I think you can also
see some of that like
alley cat stuff, like a bite
out of the ear a little bit,
just a little bit more lived in.
- A little more world weary.

- It's hard not to think of
that as getting neutered.

- I don't want to talk about
it. - [Siobhan] What happened
to your d*ck and ba*ls?
- I don't wanna talk about it.

see the bartender says,

- And then can I blow on the
fire to make it nice and hot
so that I can get your
milk all good and hot.
- The entire tavern
notices as this little girl
with a single breath,
(Brennan blows out)
and you see that the
fire kicks up really hard
and anything like paper or
parchment in here blows.
Your breath is a lot stronger
than you remember it being.
- Oh dear, I think it's the core work.
- Seems like it's a little
hotter than I wanted.
(Brennan laughing)
- That's fine.
I can make a deal with
Pete and get you some more.
- No, no, no, no, that's
fine, that's fine.
- Arriving next, Gerard,
what condition do you arrive
to the c*ck & Toad in?
- Gerard has lost a lot of his humanity.
He's fully just now a big frog,
but still walking upright in a way
that seems kind of ineffectual.
Like as he walks he's
just really bouncing,
He shouldn't be hopping,
so he's just bouncing,
but he's super angry.
Knowing now that there's all
these different versions,
he's almost treating
everything like it's a dream,
so he is just like walking
forward, just powering forward,
and I think I just opened the door.
I've got this giant glass
shard in me still and I just.
- God.
- [Ally] Should I-
- I demand someone take this out.
(Brennan laughing)
- I mean, I'll go over and I'll-
- Please.
- Put my hood even further over
and just kind of go into
a really quiet rage.
Don't make a scene.
- I've already made one.
- And then just try to grab it out.
- Go ahead and give me athletics check.
- Okay.

- [Ally] No way!
- There you go. There's
that crit, it was waiting.
- Oh my God, unbelievable.

- The ink flashes across the book again.

- With that amount of
damage that would've been
incredibly catastrophic for
an earlier version of Gerard,
a little bit less monstrous,
what does eight damage
look like to this Gerard?
- I think still, still pretty bad,
but I think sort of has thicker skin now.
Instead of it being some
like big, disgusting like
blood spraying ooze,
it's just like a deep cut
that just starts dripping.

like five, 10 minutes.
(Emily laughing)

you arrive at the c*ck & Toad.
In what condition do you arrive?
- Absolutely haunted.
I think this, I think just
like still child-size,
all of his clothing and
in the painting on him
just as bright as always,
but the wood itself is a
little bit more dead looking,
a little bit more rotted.
I think there are little
bits of moss and fungus
at different parts of him.
I think he now walks,
like the walking stick that he carries,
he actually needs now to
like kind of assist him
as his like legs are just a
little bit just gently curled,
as his like legs are just a
little bit just gently curled,
like just not as straight
and rigid as they once were
with a full-size crow on his shoulder.
(Lou laughing)
As Pinocchio just kind
of walks into the tavern
and is going to...

- I think they are obvious to you.

kind of miserable tavern
full of like the rough
and tumble customers
at the edge of fairy tales,

incredible-looking adventurers
screaming at a frog about being flirty.
- I'm not.

(Brennan caws like a crow)
- Yeah, this is my new crow.

- I don't, it's a, my mom gave it to me.
Like I'm assuming you guys,

- I mean, I'm assuming we all
kind of died and came back.

else have like a thing?
- Oh yeah, actually I-
- Like an interaction inbetween tales.
- The wolf that turned me is gone.

Because in this storyline
the wolf got taken away
by something bigger and
I don't know if the wolf
is good or bad.
I don't know what's going on.
It just seemed like important information.
Remember before we were trying
not to lie to each other?
- Yeah.

- Well, there are a bunch
of different princesses
and I talked to one of them
and there's another one
who's magic and then there's a third one
that they don't know about,
but maybe we can go meet.
She's by the sea and that's all I know.
- Is there a Princess Elody
amongst the princesses then?
- I don't think so.
There was Cinderella
and then the other one
was called Snow White.
- Okay.
- I don't know, I checked in with my mom,
she was f*cking mad.

- Like mad or like mad.

- My mom? Well, you know-
- Regular mom or?
- Regular mom.
Yeah, I mean like we all have, I mean,
I don't know what a traditional
mother figure looks like.
I mean, I think we all have our own.

- Yes, I mean, of course,
it's like and is looking out.
I mean, she and my dad-
- Did you come back with your broken nose?
- Well, I mean I had my nose
for a second when I was like
dead dead, but then when
she brought me back,
yeah, my nose came off again.
- Is that blood?

- Oh, yeah!

Yeah, she was really f*cking pissed.
- You know there's a difference
between privacy and secrecy.
- Oh no, for sure.
- It's an art, really,
figuring out which is
which in relationships.
- Yeah, I mean, well, I mean, I, you know,

I mean if we all wanna go
around the table and talk about
our moms, we can get into that, but yeah.
- Speaking of which, Mother Goose,
what are those apples about?

- Everyone's talking

you live? - [Siobhan] I would

- We're pretty much a few towns over.

different towns in this?

- You, it takes a moment to think
and you immediately see
kind of like the skill
that you guess it takes all
these like fairies and princess,
you know, all these sort of
entities that seem to be able
to walk between worlds, you are like,
"Oh, sh*t, that's hard"
because you have to go down
and you're like, "Okay,
I lived in Pottingham,
but those are the memories
from the version of me
which is dead."
And you go to this one.
Your cottage where you grew
up with your mother, siblings,
you know, that was far
outside of the village
and your grandmother was
even farther into the woods.
So in this life, you were still,
you had seen Mother Goose and
Mother Goose had told stories
to you, but it was a much
rarer thing in this world
for you to come to the village.
- Wow, so I cracked harder
without Mother Goose.
- The Fairy Godmother, I
assume, counts as a fairy?
- Yeah, that's gotta be one.
- I met a fairy with turquoise hair.
- [Lou] Oh.
- Is that your mom?
- No, she was a maternal figure in my,
in another, in the other life.
And I'm assuming also in this one.
- Yeah, without even having to roll,
that is a constant across your story.
- She's a maternal figure in my life,
but she's a real hard a*s and she doesn't,
she draws a hard line.
She's the reason I was a real boy
and she did big thing about
me being good and not lying
and being responsible
and I did all that sh*t
and then there came a day
where I needed to lie,
like I needed to lie and I did,
and she turned me back into a puppet, so.
- No!

- Were you previously a
puppet, turned into a boy?
- I was a puppet turned into a boy
who then turned back into a puppet.
- Oh wow.
- I'm sorry.
- But then a fairy turned you into a frog,
the one that we've
fought in the last life.
- Yeah.

- That's how it starts.

- This is all feeling kind of weird to Pib
and I want to like, Pib is just wondering
how did we know to come here?

your like recollections
from this life and essentially
don't find an explanation in your life
from this world for why you are here.
So you have to imagine that
your new set of memories
was compelling you simply to the point
where all of you met for the first time,
which would've been
somewhere either right here
or nearby here on the road to Shoeburg.
- So I thought I was in the
afterlife, so I was like,
just throw me in the book.
And then she was like, "What book?"
Seemed pretty interested
and then was also pretty
dodgy about where my wife was.
She didn't seem to wanna talk about it.
- [Emily] Does your
wife have any nicknames?
- I mean, I suppose.

this could possibly get me out.

And there's another entry
happening and it says,

some traces that the crow
gets close enough to as it sort
of swoops past that entrance

speaking to you from the shadows.

Something tells me when
those mandibles start finding
your throat and you realize
how much you don't wanna find
the story worse than this one,
you'll feel like making a wish.

(echoing honks)
- You feel other spiders
ahead in the direction
that your ring is pointing.
Who do you have on your back right now?
- I have Timothy.
Timothy, what is our game plan here
because I'm here to provide safe passage,
but I mean you're kind of the person,
is the hope to essentially
fell this spider
then shove him into the book?
- I don't know, actually.
- We should probably
know how we wanna get him
into the book before we engage.
- Yeah, Pib was saying that there,
were we here because of info that you had?
- Yeah, this my ring brought me here,
but I don't know specifically.
- What did you say that spider told you?
- The person said that
the guardian gave them-
was supposed to give them guidance.
- So maybe it's a good spider?
- It could be bad and now it sounds like
we're in different like dimensions almost.
Could be bad in our world.
Sounds from what Pib was
saying about the spider,
spider seems kind of afraid
of the big one, right?
- Yeah, this is the spider queen.
- I mean it's feeling like
we gotta hold him down
and then we make him go in the book,
which I mean seems to just
kind of generally happen
any time anyone just touches it,
doesn't seem to be like an intention.
- I'll throw in a backup plan.
If something like that
seems too complicated,
let's just try to k*ll a spider.
- I'm into it.
- If it's a mom spider, it
might be full of spiders.
- Oh no.
- That's fine.
- If it's a 'mom' spider,
let's not call it 'mom' spider.
- [Ally] Thinkin' salmon roe.
- You approach.
- I think we wanna stealth.

- [Emily] I think we wanna
get as far as we can.
- Is Pinocchio on here with us?
Are you on the spider's back?
- I can get on if there's room.
- Maybe Gerard, since Gerard-
- It's not 'the spider', it's Ylfa.
- Maybe since Gerard's movement is loud,
maybe Gerard, you should
be on Ylfa's back.
- I meant our spider, Ylfa. I'm so sorry.
- Beautiful wolf.
- Yeah, okay.
- Child no, look, I still
see you as fully at you.
(Emily imitates bones cracking)
- No, don't keep snapping.
- So, in terms of how you're moving, Ylfa,
you have Gerard on your back.
- I need some help, certainly,
and I will yell if I get caught.
Just know it's everyone's problem.
- Gerard, can I give you Crow to help?
- Yes.
- [Brennan] There's Crow.
- Its talons sink into your skin.
- Crow can turn into a spider.
- Oh, Crow can turn into a spider?

- Oh, is that the spider
you were talking about?
- Yeah, we have two spiders.

- [Brennan] So, let's figure
out this stealth roll.
- Great.
- And first of all, first of all,
everyone traveling across the web
is either riding Ylfa, Pib's
figured out how to do it.
Gerard is riding on Ylfa's back.
For you three, if Crow
turns into a spider,
I'll allow Crow to guide you
across the web, essentially.
- Okay.
- Great. Crow?
- For Mother Goose and Rosamund,
I will allow either a survival check or a,
oh wait a minute.
Do you ignore difficult terrain?
- [Zac] On forest.
- Only on forest, yeah.
- Only forest, copy that, understood.
So if you wanna make a roll to attempt
to be able to navigate the web,
otherwise you're gonna have
to figure something else out.
- Survival or what?
- Survival or acrobatics.
- [Zac] Can I help?
- Yeah, you can give help action.
- Nice.
- Okay, that's better, an 18.

- 22 and 18, hell yeah.
You two begin to move,
like Pib, across the web.
Crow now...
(crow cawing)
(crow morphing, cracking
bones, flesh tearing)
- I can't see what's happening,
but it's sounds disgusting.
- My imagination is-
- I'll describe it.
So the crow is just peeling away.
- No, no, please.
- Yikes!
- Just the absolute juiciest spider.
- Wet.
- [Murph] You could just bite into it.
- Go ahead and give me
group stealth check.
- Crow gets a plus five to
stealth, can I have that?
- Yeah, you can have that and
I'll say rather than Gerard
making it with disadvantage-
- Since I'm moving, could I make it?
- Yeah, you just make it and
we'll duck Gerard out of it.
- 24.
- [Siobhan] 22.
- Oh yes, 26.
- Wow, we're k*lling it.
- 16.
- Nat 20 from Crow the spider.
- Oh my God.
- I'm also assuming that I use my-
- Spidocchio.
- Assuming that I use by
giant spider stealth, right?
- Yes, yes, yes, unbelievable.
- Spidocchio is on fire, dude.
- Spidocchio.
- You all move across the
web, Ylfa in the front
with Gerard, frog-like,
just sort of on Ylfa's back.
You like fully splay your legs
up into like crouching frog position.
It's so nasty in this cave
It's sick.
- [Siobhan] I'm so glad I can't see this.
- [Brennan] It is so bad.
- Gerard, do you think
that what we're doing
is the stuff of legends
they'll write songs about us someday?
- Let's never speak of it.
- It looks like it
definitely looks like a guy
who thinks no one can see him.
(all laughing)
- I'm just eating so many spiders.
- And Pib, Pinocchio,
Mother Goose, and Rosamund,
all of you are treading on
your feet across the webbing,
stepping on just the right
strands to not get stuck.
And incredibly you are,
the effort of doing this
is causing those of you
with flesh to like sweat
because you're just like
every step has to be perfect
and careful over more
than an hour of traveling
to keep up behind Ylfa.
However, you arrive.
You feel like you are
more than 100 feet away
from any actual rock surface.
That's how broad and vast
these webs are hanging.
- Oh, my stomach just dropped.
- Hanging in open space.
You've gotten to the
point where every step,
as you step to a new safe strand,
you feel the (imitating moving
webs) of your weight shifting
and feel your stomach like
rise up into your throat
as you take another step and are buoyed
by the movement of the strands.
- I think Mother Goose has done
that thing that like old men
do where they just take
their shoes and socks off
inexplicably when they're like focusing,
so he's just like barefoot.
- Tim, what you doing?
- Ah, you can see me?
- [Murph] Yes.
He's just in slacks and like bare feet.
- Smell your feet.
(Mother Goose reacting
to Pib sniffing his feet)
(Ally, Emily, and Zac laughing)
- You're the weird cat person, we saw.
- I'm gonna say, even with
this movement across the web,
Ylfa's movement at the
front seems to communicate
to anything else 'cause you
can feel creatures on the web
and your ring starts to really pulse.
You are close to some spiders.
But your movement is so spider-like,
that what gets communicated
across the webbing
is just the movement of a massive spider.
- Oh, I'm massive.
- You move.
You're within 40 feet
of a group of spiders
You're within 40 feet
of a group of spiders
collected in the center of the web.
You see, those of you with darkvision,
you have the drop on them.
- We did it.
- I need all of you to roll initiative.
(Exclamations of various levels
of excitement for a battle)

- Gonna kind of go into the animal brain
so that I'm not shaking, I'm
only freaking out in my mind.
- [Lou] Spidocchio, assume
form of Pinocchi-crow.
- You throw this enchantment
and you see (swooshes)
and your magic ripples,
outlining something and it
won't stop rippling outward.
(mysterious music)
